Introduction of the Accommodation
The building boasts a history of approximately 120 years, originating from the mid-Meiji period. While it has been fully renovated for modern comfort, the 120-year history is evident throughout. The large beams on the ceiling are original. Explore every corner of the building and immerse yourself in the Meiji era.
Shōki is a deity of protection against evil, inspired by Chinese folklore. Traditionally, he is placed on the rooftops of Kyoto townhouses to ward off misfortune. A story from Kyoto's Sanjō district tells of how placing Shōki, said to be stronger than demons, as a protective charm cured an illness. Even today, he can occasionally be seen on townhouses in Kyoto. In the townhouse guesthouse, each of the six buildings is protected by its own Shōki.
San-no-Kyoku offers free parking and two complimentary rental bicycles. You can use them from check-in until 11:00 AM on the day of check-out. Nijo Castle, Kyoto Imperial Palace, and Seimei Shrine are within cycling distance. Riding along the Kamo River is also a refreshing experience.
