"Shioun" is a retro-modern Onsen Property with only 7 Rooms, located right in front of Kawazu Beach. As a sister Property to "Narashinonosato Gyokusui" and "Omuro no Mori Gyokusui," it was newly renovated and reopened in September 2022. All Rooms are equipped with ocean-view open-air baths, and we have maintained the tradition of Onsen water directly sourced from the spring and temperature control by our dedicated Onsen caretaker, a commitment upheld since the founding of Gyokusui over a century ago. For dinner, we offer Japanese kaiseki cuisine that delights both the eyes and the palate. For breakfast, we prepare Western-style dishes using seasonal ingredients from Izu. To fully enjoy our location, just a 0-minute walk to the beach, we provide "beach walking gear" for our guests.
All the staff provided excellent service.The meals were delicious, featuring mainly local fish, including sashimi. The coffee mill was a nice touch as well.We will visit again.
Akkoaileen 7/17/2026The Room, bath, meals, and staff were all excellent—this Accommodation offers outstanding value for money. The second-floor Rooms feel very close to the seaside promenade, and depending on the season, you may notice the sound of the waves, sea breeze, or beach activity. If that might concern you, it’s a good idea to check with the Accommodation in advance. That said, thanks to its location you can really feel the ocean from the Room windows and the bath, so I hope future guests enjoy it to the fullest. Lastly, about breakfast: on our stay it was Western-style only. It may be unusual for an Onsen Accommodation not to offer a Japanese option, but since there was no choice menu, we were pleasantly impressed by how substantial and satisfying the Western breakfast was. (If I had one wish: a bit more effort and creativity with the bread.)

All Rooms are equipped with open-air Onsen baths with flowing hot spring water and terraces where you can enjoy the sea, sunrise, night sky, and the grandeur of nature. We provide amenities to enhance your stay in the Room, including a Zassenhaus coffee grinder and home-roasted coffee. The decor, featuring the warmth of wood, evokes nostalgia and offers relaxation.
A difference of 1℃ can alter the perception of hot or warm on human skin. To enjoy bathing in Onsen under optimal conditions, it is essential to have the technique to adjust based on the day's temperature, climate, and the state of the Onsen. This is achieved through the presence of the Onsen caretaker. Since the founding of Gokusui a century ago, we have been dedicated to Onsen management by the caretaker.
