As we did last year, we stayed at Akagi Onsen Hotel again for a summer getaway. It had been a while since our last stay, but everything was perfect—hospitality, meals, and the Onsen. This is a Hotel you’ll want to return to again and again. We look forward to staying with you again.
Both the bath and the meals were exactly as described in the Review.At check-in, we were told that the water in the refrigerator was spring water and that we could drink it freely. There was a pitcher of water in the fridge, not bottled water, which surprised me a little, but it was incredibly delicious. We were also told that this water is used in the cooking. The rice was also very tasty.The final dessert at dinner, “Amber Konjac with Raw Cane Sugar and Brown Sugar,” had no konjac taste at all and a great texture. When I asked at check-out, the staff explained that they created it through trial and error so guests could enjoy something sweet without feeling guilty even when full—and because konjac may be good for gut health. It is soaked for a full day in raw cane sugar and brown sugar syrup. It may look simple, but I felt it was a dessert you can only experience here.

Enjoy the magnificent nature of Akagi that changes with the four seasons.
Our Ryokan is located at an altitude of 900 meters on the slopes of Mount Akagi, one of Japan's 100 famous mountains, where you can enjoy the great nature of all four seasons. The Onsen, cherished as a medicinal bath since the 13th year of Genroku, was renovated into a private bath in the spring of 2024. With a spacious design, you can use it on the spot if available.
Our Onsen features "cloudy water" that you can enjoy with its natural flow. The naturally colorless and transparent hot spring water turns reddish-brown upon contact with air, being a "living source." You can observe the "hot spring flowers" that prove the richness of its components. The spout also accumulates components, turning reddish-brown.

From the Room, you can enjoy the ever-changing natural beauty of Akagi throughout the seasons, providing relaxation for both mind and body. Enjoy a luxurious time doing nothing in the embrace of Mount Akagi.
We use locally sourced "mountain delicacies" and "fresh vegetables," along with Gunma's representative "Joshu Beef," "Akagi Beef," and "Akagi Chicken," to offer creative seasonal dishes.
The sound of the flowing stream resonates, the chirping of birds is heard nearby, allowing you to forget the hustle and bustle of daily life and relax comfortably.
To help you celebrate special occasions such as anniversaries and birthdays, we will prepare a dessert plate with care.

Kan-Etsu Expressway: Akagi I.C. → Omama Komochi Line → Fujimi Village (National Route 353) → Akagi Onsen Hotel
Parking is available either at the free parking lot for overnight guests in the Akagi Onsen area (see photo), or in spaces for about two cars near our entrance. Please note that you will need to drive down a steep slope to reach the entrance, so we ask that low-clearance vehicles refrain from doing so. Other vehicles may proceed down the slope at the entrance.
Once you arrive at the entrance, our staff will take your car key and handle turning and moving your vehicle. Depending on conditions on the day, we may park your car in the upper parking lot.
*Our Accommodation is located in the mountains at an elevation of 900 m. As you will be driving on mountain roads, we recommend checking in before sunset.
*Snowfall in winter is not usually heavy; however, for safety, please prepare snow tires and/or tire chains when traveling by car.
If there is heavy snowfall on your check-in day and you feel uneasy about driving up to our Accommodation via the mountain road (the winding section begins after turning right just before Akagi Shrine), please contact us for assistance.
