SHIGUCHI is nestled in a beautiful forest within the Niseko-Shakotan-Otaru Kaigan Quasi-National Park, far from the crowds and wrapped in tranquility. Three 150-year-old traditional houses have been reborn over time as art-filled residences where you can stay. With Mt. Yotei—known as Ezo Fuji—and the Niseko mountain range watching over you, enjoy a one-of-a-kind luxurious space where you can savor a deep connection with nature in your Room, take your time experiencing art, and reconnect with your senses.

Pass through the solid iron gate, weathered and rusted by time, and enter the doorway of this traditional Japanese house—beyond it, an entirely different world awaits at SHIGUCHI. From the windows overlooking a sweeping panorama of untouched nature, a picture-like view unfolds and shifts with time, gently refreshing your spirit. Supported by thick oak and hinoki cypress beams, and featuring sliding doors and door panels crafted from reclaimed materials as well as lead kintsugi detailing at column joints, this space is created with deep respect for nature’s constant change and renewal—inviting you to rediscover the connection between people and the natural world.

At the SOMOZA Gallery, you will find art by Creative Director Shoya Grigg, along with a rich collection of artworks, antiques, and folk crafts displayed throughout the interior—one-of-a-kind pieces you can only encounter here. Selected through the discerning eye of Shoya Grigg, who is also a photographer, these works have found their way here over time and now shine once again. The gallery features a collection that traces the history of Hokkaido, and the shelves are stocked with books related to literature and music—please take your time and relax. SHIGUCHI also has a private gallery showcasing artworks gathered from around the world, as well as original pieces created by Shoya Grigg himself. This gallery is an exclusive space available only to guests staying at the Accommodation.
