Located in the birthplace of the Rinpa school of art, a place cherished by artists for centuries, this resort provides an extraordinary relaxation space away from the ordinary. The spa Facility, designed to harmonize with the majestic natural scenery, features a thermal pool utilizing Onsen, guiding guests to a tranquil and soothing time for both mind and body.
Thank you for taking care of us every year. Each time we visit, we’re reminded how wonderful ROKU is, and we leave already wanting to come back. The staff are always courteous and calm, which makes us feel at ease. We also enjoy dinner every time; the seasonal menu is delicious and something we look forward to. This time in particular, the melon parfait was outstanding. There is just one thing that always leaves us a little disappointed. I don’t mean to act like a regular, but when checking in or being shown to our Room, we are often treated as if it were our first stay. If our stay history could be shared among the staff so that you could welcome us accordingly, it would make us feel even better.I’m not trying to compare with other places, but because this is a Hotel we truly love and where we are always treated well, it can feel a bit lonely at times.
デッチーさん 7/22/2026The staff were very courteous. With the mountains as a backdrop, the beautiful reflecting pool Facility was truly picture-perfect. From the guest room, I found myself gazing absentmindedly as time passed, enjoying a sense of being somewhere unlike anywhere else. The in-room bath was also large and luxurious.Dinner was a full-course meal and it was outstanding. There was a generous portion of meat as well—I ended up completely full.Breakfast wasn’t flashy, but it was calm and satisfying, with no issues at all.I couldn’t help but buy a plush toy of the little bird mascot named Roku-chan.My elderly mother who traveled with me was also deeply impressed and said she would like to come again. As it is somewhat pricey, there were various types of guests, but the staff were excellent.

The first LXR Hotels & Resorts in Asia
LXR Hotels & Resorts is a collection brand of Hilton, offering independent luxury hotels. ROKU KYOTO, LXR Hotels & Resorts is the first Hotel under the LXR Hotels & Resorts brand in the Asia-Pacific region and also the first Hilton-branded Hotel in Kyoto. The services of LXR Hotels & Resorts are tailored to each guest, offering a luxurious experience while allowing them to immerse themselves in the local charm. Located in captivating destinations around the world, the brand provides exceptional service rooted in the land, history, and culture of each location.
ROKU KYOTO, LXR Hotels & Resorts is located at the foot of the Takagamine Sanzan, a collective name for the three peaks of "Takagamine," "Washigamine," and "Amagamine." Within the premises flows the Tenjin River, a first-class river, creating a serene atmosphere with the gentle sound of the stream. The Tenjin River is also known as the Kamiyagawa, named after the "Kamiza," a group that made paper along its banks during the Heian period. The word "Roku," meaning "to scoop paper," inspired the name of the Hotel, reflecting the unique environment surrounded by the Takagamine Sanzan and the Tenjin River. This name embodies the desire for guests to experience this special space.

The birthplace of ROKU KYOTO, LXR Hotels & Resorts, is a historic site where over 400 years ago, Honami Koetsu established an art village that nurtured talented artists and gave rise to the Rinpa school of art. It is also the location where the Kyoto kimono was revitalized by the dyeing master Shouzan, who, with the philosophy that "beautiful things are born from beautiful environments," created this space over the years with a unique sense of aesthetics. We aim to create a Resort Hotel where guests can immerse themselves in the profound and lesser-known charms of Kyoto through its stories, history, and culture, all while embracing the concept of "Dive into Kyoto." Staying true to the hallmark of LXR Hotels & Resorts—"rooted in the land, history, and culture, offering unparalleled service"—we provide luxurious yet authentic experiences and services tailored to each guest.

The interior design of the Hotel was crafted by "BLINK Design Group," a renowned design firm based in Asia with extensive experience in luxury hotels at some of the world's leading resort destinations. Inspired by the art village of Honami Koetsu, the concept of "Artist Residence" reinterprets traditional Kyoto interiors in a contemporary way, creating a serene space that blurs the boundaries between indoors and outdoors. Each space within the Hotel draws inspiration from various elements of the art village, with themes such as "Karakami" for guest rooms, "Urushi" for the arrival area, "Bamboo" for the restaurant, and "Ceramics" for the spa. For instance, the lobby and tea lounge feature handcrafted lacquer art panels, while the restaurant incorporates traditional bamboo craftsmanship. Enjoy a space infused with Kyoto's traditions and artistry, designed to spark your curiosity.

A unique resort built by Shouzan.
Shouzan Resort was established by Shouzan, a Nishijin kimono manufacturer, under the philosophy that "beautiful things are born from beautiful environments," at the foot of Takagamine. The late Masao Matsuyama, the founder of Shouzan, began by creating gardens and relocating beautiful structures from various parts of Japan, using the mountains of Kyoto as a borrowed landscape, and opened the area to the public for everyone to enjoy. The resort spans approximately 35,000 tsubo, surrounded by the Tenjinkawa (Kamiyagawa) River and Odoi, and is a representative resort of Kyoto with its rich natural environment. It features wedding venues, gardens, as well as traditional Japanese restaurants, dining establishments, and a members-only Hotel scattered throughout the grounds. ROKU KYOTO is located in the southern area of Shouzan Resort.
