Our 8,000-tsubo garden, begun by my great-grandfather in the early Showa era, is surrounded by trees over 100 years old and is a celebrated spot in Otaru, with 200 cherry trees in full bloom in early May. From late May through June, wisteria trellises and azaleas follow, and in summer you can enjoy viburnum snowballs, hydrangeas, and carefully tended roses. I especially love the autumn foliage in late October, and the deep winter snow that transforms everything into a pure white landscape is equally refreshing for the soul.
I stayed for one night and two days.Rooms & Amenities→ The in-room open-air bath was clean and very relaxing.Hospitality & Service→ I was warmly welcomed from check-in, and the staff responded pleasantly whenever I needed anything, which made me very happy.Onsen Baths→ The large public bath was spacious, and the outdoor open-air bath area was also clean. I also appreciated the service of having drinks and towels available in front of the sauna room.Dining→ I only had breakfast, but it was delicious.
ゲスト 8/28/2026This was my first visit to Asarigawa Onsen.They kindly stored our shoes at the entrance, so we could walk barefoot throughout the building. In the lobby there is a small pond with plump koi, and in the morning our child was able to try feeding them.We arrived a bit late and couldn’t enjoy everything, but there’s plenty to do—roasting marshmallows at the garden café at night, grilling rice crackers over an irori hearth in the morning, and even a table tennis area.The baths include an indoor bath, an open-air bath, and a sauna. Since we were traveling with a child, we only took a quick look at the sauna, but there were several kinds of drinks available. The changing room also had plenty of ice pops.For dinner, we enjoyed a delicious meal with many dishes served in our Room. In the morning, we had Japanese breakfast starting with tasty rice porridge in a private dining room while looking out at the garden.I was especially impressed by how delicious Yoichi tomatoes were.Of course, all of the sashimi and meat dishes were excellent as well—truly worthy of Hokkaido.
