Enjoy a relaxing moment with delicious local cuisine nurtured by the region’s rich natural environment and rejuvenating Onsen.

Located in the western part of Yamaguchi Prefecture, Kawatana Onsen is nestled among gentle mountain slopes and islands. The rich local culture, including culinary traditions, Onsen culture, and artistic heritage, has been cherished over time by Lord Mori, haiku poet Santoka, and musician Cortot. Enjoy a blissful moment at our tranquil garden Ryokan.

  • I stayed in the Room listed in the title above. When I opened the door, there was a white spiral staircase. Upstairs, there were three large windows with a view of the sea and islands in the distance. From the balcony, I could see the mountains as well. The views were wonderful. In the early morning, I went out onto the balcony and enjoyed a morning coffee while watching the sun rise. The bath in the Room is not an Onsen, but it was spacious and had a large window overlooking the balcony, which made it feel very open. The Hotel’s public bath was great, especially the open-air bath.Breakfast was buffet-style and everything was delicious. The grilled dried horse mackerel was freshly cooked and excellent. The rolled omelet (dashimaki tamago) was also warm and freshly made. The dessert pudding was tasty as well.As for my overall rating of this Room, I really liked it. However, there was one small thing about the balcony that bothered me slightly, so I deducted one point.

  • All rooms are clean and well-maintained, with spacious baths featuring excellent water quality and temperature. Meals were perfectly portioned, and even during a multiple night stay, the menu was completely different each day. It would have been nice to have a coffee maker in the breakfast area, but the breakfast itself was simple, homemade, and delicious. The male staff member with glasses was very kind and attentive to my mother, making this accommodation a place we definitely want to visit again.
