Over the past few years, this Accommodation has become a place our family wants to visit at least once a year, and both kids and adults are always completely satisfied. This summer vacation we weren’t planning a trip to the Izu area, so we thought a summer stay might not be possible—but when we learned about the summer vacation discount offer, we knew we had to go and made a last-minute Reservation. With prices rising everywhere, we truly appreciate this thoughtful gesture from the Facility.As always, every staff member—from arrival to departure—shows wonderful hospitality that makes for a genuinely relaxing stay. The Facility is also very clean. The summer vacation pop-up stalls were unexpectedly enjoyed more by the adults than the kids; it was fun seeing everyone feel like children again. It was disappointing that we couldn’t play tennis due to construction on the tennis courts, but there were so many enjoyable activities that we barely had enough time. We also love the surrounding satoyama countryside nature, so next time we’d like to stay in spring.

The large public bath and open-air bath at Satoyama Villa Shimoda Central Hotel use their own abundant private hot spring source, Aitama Onsen in Shimoda, Izu. Sink into the silky water and experience the rich benefits of this natural hot spring. Enjoy Onsen bathing to your heart’s content while being soothed by Izu’s ever-changing nature, the murmur of the river, and the sounds of insects.
Our signature open-air bath Rooms with private gardens each feature a different garden and a spacious open-air bath (approx. 150 cm square) filled directly from the hot spring source, highly praised by guests. Rooms with an open-air bath overlooking the satoyama countryside are also exceptionally comfortable. In addition, Japanese-Western suites and modern Japanese-style Rooms are popular with families and groups, and all Room types are furnished with beds.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the first publication of Yasunari Kawabata’s masterpiece, *The Dancing Girl of Izu*—a tender love story between a young man traveling alone and a dancer in a troupe of itinerant performers. Why not retrace the journey from Amagi to Shimoda, visiting the locations featured in the novel and experiencing its atmosphere anew through a “pilgrimage” to these literary landmarks?
