“Chilled Onsen” — a pleasantly lukewarm bath perfect for long soaks in summer
At Hatsuhana, we will offer our popular summer “Neutral Temperature Bath” again this year.
Using our own natural hot spring source—known for its gentle feel on the skin and often called the “beauty bath”—Hatsuhana’s Neutral Temperature Bath is adjusted to around 36°C, close to body temperature. This “cooled Onsen” is less likely to cause overheating even during longer soaks in summer, allowing you to relax comfortably for extended periods. It has been well received since its introduction in 2024.
What is a Neutral Temperature Bath?
A temperature that feels neither hot nor cold while bathing is called the “neutral (thermoneutral) temperature range.”
Bathing at this near-body-temperature range is said to have little effect on pulse, blood pressure, or breathing. A typical soak lasts about 30 minutes to 2 hours. It is also said to have a calming effect and may be beneficial for conditions such as high blood pressure and insomnia.
We invite you to try it during your stay.
