For this price, the Room was spacious and the Facility was clean. I was also surprised that alcohol was free at the buffet and in the complimentary lounge, with even sparkling wine available. The food quality was excellent and delicious. I truly couldn’t believe all of this for this price, and I would personally recommend it to others.

We stayed with our child, and the Accommodation had thoughtfully prepared many items such as barley tea for children, bibs, toys, and a dedicated diaper bin, which made our stay very comfortable. Everyone was kind and truly hospitable. We also received a letter from the dining staff, which made this trip especially heartwarming. We would love to stay again.

There were thoughtful touches throughout, such as a basket for carrying towels and a change of clothes to the bath, and tabi socks provided for use inside the property. The food was also delicious.

We stayed for two nights with our adult son and daughter, as a couple, and our 7 kg dog. The Room size was just right—not too big or too small. At night we laid out the futons, played cards, and enjoyed relaxing family time together for the first time in a while. There is an indoor dog run in the building, and an outdoor dog run right in front of the Accommodation; both were clean and felt safe to use. Above all, every dish was delicious. I wanted to eat everything, but there was so much food—in the best way possible. The whole simmered golden eye snapper, yellowtail shabu-shabu, grilled meat, sashimi, and various small side dishes were all excellent. All staff were polite and very pleasant, making it easy to talk with them. If I had to mention minor points: I would have liked a brief explanation of the Facilities at check-in, and it was disappointing that the self-serve coffee machine only dispensed hot water. If I’m being picky, I personally would have liked welcome sweets and a box of tissues in the Room. My husband and son said it would be perfect if there were a sauna in the bath (lol). We were also very happy about the complimentary beer and shochu service for the Obon holiday period. Overall, this was an excellent Accommodation for staying with family while bringing a dog. We’d love to return.

We stayed at “Iroukan” during the Obon holidays. Since we were traveling with our dog, we chose Iroukan based on Reviews while searching for a pet-friendly Accommodation. The hospitality exceeded our expectations—the warmth and smiles from every staff member were truly wonderful. Of course, the food was just as highly rated: incredibly delicious and very generous in portion size. From the moment we arrived at the Accommodation’s parking lot, the staff’s kindness and attentiveness stood out—helping with our luggage, welcoming us at the entrance, and even greeting us with a charmingly retro Showa-era style that surprised us in the best way. Everyone clearly loves dogs, and our dog also seemed completely at ease throughout our three-day stay. The Onsen was also fantastic, with free-flowing natural hot spring water and both indoor and open-air baths to enjoy. It’s hard to sum up in just a few words how memorable the service was—and even the head chef’s unique personality gave us a good laugh. The building has an old-fashioned feel that reflects its history, but it’s exactly what you’d hope for in a classic Ryokan—an excellent place where you can truly relax. There is so much more I’d love to share, but if you’re going to Izu, please stay at Iroukan at least once. It’s absolutely worth experiencing. If we have another chance, this is definitely an Accommodation we would love to stay at again.

This time we stayed in the VIP Room and enjoyed the premium kaiseki dinner course. The Room was very spacious, the garden was beautifully maintained, and the private open-air bath attached to the Room was excellent. All of the staff who assisted us were very kind, and every dinner dish was carefully prepared and truly delicious. Breakfast seemed to be the same for all courses, but since we can’t eat much in the morning, we personally appreciated that it was on the lighter side. We also visited the large public bath, but we noticed towels left at washing stations that were not being used and some guests reserving spots. We think it would be even better if there were guidance on how to use the facilities in languages other than Japanese. Access was convenient—about a 7-minute walk to the streetcar stop. By taxi or car, you can reach major sightseeing spots in about 15 minutes, so if you don’t have a car, using both the streetcar and taxis makes it easy to get around. It was a 5-minute drive from the airport, so being able to leave our luggage before/after our stay was very convenient. If we have another opportunity, we would love to stay again for about two nights in a VIP Room with the premium dining course. Thank you very much.

I visited on a solo trip to Kyushu. I stayed for two nights, and both dinners were delicious. I could see Sakurajima from my Room, and the Onsen was very relaxing—overall, it was a very satisfying trip. The Shuttle Service from the station was also provided multiple times. However, perhaps due to the extreme heat of the season, the air conditioning in the hallway felt weak, and I ended up a bit sweaty on the way back to my Room after bathing.

We stayed again this year, following our visit last year. While many nearby Ryokan have closed, this property has been renovated and reborn with excellent Facility—I felt it is the best in Yuhama. In particular, the Onsen was pure free-flowing hot spring water from the source, with no added water or heating, and it was wonderfully comfortable—I kept sweating for a while even after bathing. Since our Room had a splendid private free-flowing Onsen bath, we enjoyed it many times. Unfortunately, there was light rain and the sea was rough with whitecaps, so swimming was prohibited. However, we are not really at an age to play in the ocean anymore, so we enjoyed walking around the Hotel area instead. There were about ten cats nearby; they were friendly and fun to be around. They had ear marks indicating they had been spayed/neutered, so it seemed the town manages them well. It left us with a good impression of a town that cares for animals. Meals were different from last year: they served them efficiently with fewer staff in a spacious Room renovated from an annex building. The quality felt slightly below last year’s level, though that may simply be personal preference. It also made us feel how challenging operations can be after COVID. We were happy to have a chance to speak in the morning with refined people who seemed to be the proprietress and her son. We would like to visit KAMEYA again next year as well—a place proud of its 200-year history. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

Thank you very much for your hospitality the other day. I also appreciate your courteous replies to my emails. It looked like an Onsen Facility is currently being built next to the Hotel, and I’m looking forward to its completion! Although it is not a large Hotel, I was able to spend a comfortable time in a quiet setting. I brought home the origami crane that was in my Room and have it on display, thinking of all the effort from your staff. Thank you very much.

Because a Room was available, they upgraded me from the Room I had reserved to a newly renovated, more spacious Room. It was so spotless that I was genuinely surprised. The large public bath had three types of baths and a sauna, and since it was a weekday during the rainy season, I could enjoy it almost privately and relax at my own pace. The ReFa hair dryer, KEYUCA cups, and cute cushions made the Room feel especially appealing for women. I only met two staff members at check-in and check-out, but both were extremely courteous and helpful. I wasn’t traveling for sightseeing this time—I simply wanted an affordable Hotel where I could stay one night alone with access to an Onsen—but it was so comfortable that I’d love to stay again next year with my family.

This is a compact Accommodation. While the building has some age, it is kept very clean, and its compact size makes it easy to access the baths and dining area, making for a very comfortable stay. Our Room was on the first floor, but the view was outstanding—true to the Accommodation’s name, it was a spectacular panorama! The baths were my favorite type—an alkaline spring with a silky feel—and the view from the open-air bath was also breathtaking. For dinner we chose the “Bliss Course,” and that was absolutely the right choice: a wonderful meal packed with Sendai’s flavors. The Sendai Kuroge Wagyu beef grilled on magnolia leaves was tender and generous in portion, and the miso seasoning was exceptional. The beef tongue was also thick and tender; we had planned to eat beef tongue again the next day, but dinner left us completely satisfied, so our whole family agreed we didn’t need to—and we were able to keep our expenses down as well. The seafood and sashimi were delicious too; even the scallops were thick, and everything we tried was satisfying. Breakfast also included hot pot dishes and sashimi—almost like a light version of an inn-style dinner—and we left completely full. This is an Accommodation I would love to visit again if I have the chance.

Although it was a bit far from the station, there was a convenience store on the ground floor, which was very convenient. Facing a main road also made it easy to find. There is no large public bath or Onsen, but the in-room shower had been replaced with a Mirable showerhead, which felt new and nice. The amenity buffet was so well stocked that you could arrive empty-handed without any issues, and there were also pillows to choose from, so I could relax comfortably in an environment close to what I’m used to at home. On the front desk floor, there was a tea dispenser available at all times, and until 6:00 p.m., dumplings were provided as sweets. In addition, several kinds of obanzai and one alcoholic drink were served free of charge until 9:00 p.m., and I felt the complimentary services were very thorough. I booked the No Meals Included Plan but purchased a breakfast voucher on site and had breakfast as well. There was an excellent variety of Shizuoka-style items such as tuna sashimi, whitebait (shirasu), horse mackerel takikomi rice, and grilled eel (kabayaki), more than enough to leave me fully satisfied. If I had to mention one drawback, it would be that there wasn’t an ice bucket provided in the room, so I ended up using paper cups at the ice machine, which was slightly inconvenient. Overall, it was a highly satisfying stay.

We stayed for two nights. The ocean view from the third-floor panoramic bath was amazing. The Onsen was also great.

The staff were kind and helpful, and the Room was very clean, but the amenities felt too limited. The onigiri provided for lunch at breakfast was delicious, but it was a bit disappointing that the fried items at the morning buffet were cold.

We decided to celebrate our wedding anniversary with crab, so we made a Reservation at the last minute. When we arrived, the proprietress welcomed us with a warm smile, and after check-in at the front desk, she kindly showed us to our Room. The building itself has a sense of history, and there are stairs and steps throughout, so it may be a bit challenging for guests with mobility issues. The Room isn’t large, but it was spotless, and thoughtful touches—like a heated carpet laid over the tatami—made it feel especially comfortable. After changing into yukata, we headed straight to the Onsen. We started with the large public bath only; even the baskets in the changing area were lovely and lifted our spirits. Once inside, we were impressed by the very high ceiling and stylish design—stained-glass doors and an elegant layout that created a wonderfully open atmosphere. Then came dinner—the highlight we’d been looking forward to. First was a refreshing sudachi aperitif that was delicious. The sashimi starter featured sweet shrimp that were wonderfully plump, and the firefly squid dressed with vinegared miso was surprisingly tender—the gentle flavor of the miso dressing was perfect. I’m not enough of a crab connoisseur to confidently tell all the differences (like tagged crab), but since it was a special occasion, we chose a Plan that included Taiza crab sashimi—and it had an incredible melt-in-your-mouth sweetness... We could enjoy it not only with crab vinegar but also with sudachi or salt—truly outstanding! That alone almost would have satisfied us—but this is where things really began: fragrant grilled crab; a rich yet clean-tasting Taiza crab miso soup; then crab hot pot followed by rice porridge; dessert of crab ice cream; and even chocolate mousse to celebrate our anniversary. It’s frustrating that all I can say is “delicious,” because everything really was. After dinner, we relaxed in the private bath we had reserved without worrying about anyone else around us, changed into pajamas (a very welcome touch!), and drifted off completely satisfied... The next morning we visited the bath with an open-air tub. This outdoor bath also had an ocean view and felt wonderful—we soaked slowly and enjoyed every moment. Breakfast was classic Japanese style—simple but delicious... It was my first time trying heshiko, and it was so good that I even used the discount voucher on our way out to buy some. They saw us off with warm smiles until the very end, making this an incredibly satisfying wedding anniversary trip. Thank you very much!

The quality of the Onsen, the Accommodation, and the staff was outstanding. I had wanted to visit Yunotsu Onsen for many years, and it exceeded my expectations. I will definitely try to come back again.

Everything was delicious, including the sashimi at dinner and the simmered fish head. The portions were generous, and I couldn’t finish the kashiwa rice onigiri, so I took it back to my Room and enjoyed it later. The Room was clean, and I was able to relax in the bath as well. After check-out, we walked around to see the summer satoyama scenery, the Great Buddha Hall, and stone Buddhas, which was very soothing. I would love to visit again if I have the chance.

We had struggled to find an Accommodation around Minami-Izu that really appealed to us, but this one was excellent. It’s very close to Shimoda Station, making it easy to get to the beach. We stayed for two nights, and dinner was wonderful on both evenings. In the morning, we head out early for snorkeling, so a Plan without breakfast was exactly what we wanted. On the other hand, compared with Atami, there are fewer places to eat at night around Shimoda Station, so a Plan with dinner included was very convenient. The Onsen is in each Room, but I think it would be better if it were a bit larger.

What makes your Hotel so outstanding is your challenging spirit: never resting on what you already have, but always striving to create new moments of inspiration. As a devoted fan of Toba Grand Hotel—and as “Captain Donguri”—please allow me to share a few ideas with affection: 1) Extend lounge hours (until 11:00 p.m.) Spending time in that sophisticated lounge atmosphere is exceptional. If guests could enjoy complimentary drinks until 11:00 p.m., the evening would become an even more special memory. 2) Revitalize the retro game arcade & festival-style corner If an energetic “festival corner” were added to that nostalgic, welcoming arcade area, it would surely become a signature spot where adults and children alike can have fun across generations. 3) Seasonal limited-time “all-you-can-eat fruit” buffet feature For example, “all-you-can-eat strawberries” in early spring or “all-you-can-eat melon” in summer—having seasonal highlight events at the buffet would help attract repeat guests year-round and generate even more buzz. Of course, I fully understand that the working environment for your staff and operational considerations must come first. With that in mind, I would be grateful if you could keep these ideas in mind simply as one fan’s dream of what would be wonderful if it could be realized. With Toba Grand Hotel’s potential—and the passion of your staff—I truly believe you will continue to be the overwhelming No. 1 Hotel in the region without question.
