it was a blissful one-night stay. Both dinner and breakfast were satisfying in both portion size and taste. The Tango Koshihikari rice was delicious!! Everyone on the Accommodation staff was genuinely friendly, and I was able to spend my time feeling very relaxed. I even got mist

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. There was only one reason I came to Shirahama: To stay at Kuroshio Sou. When people think of Shirahama, many picture the sea and resorts. But what I found here was Wakayama itself. What moved me most at this Accommodation was not only how outstanding the food was. It was Head Chef Etani’s exceptional skill, and his deep respect for the producers who support every single dish. Fishermen. Farmers. Brewers. Roasters. And the artisans who continue to protect Japan’s fermentation culture. The moment I saw the map of producers introduced alongside the meal, I understood what this Accommodation truly values. Through the cuisine, you encounter not only ingredients, but also the people behind them and Wakayama’s climate and character. I was especially impressed by how delicious the soy sauce and Kinzanji miso were at dinner. When I asked about them, I learned they were from Horigawaya Nomura—a producer with over 350 years of history that still preserves traditional craftsmanship using firewood-heated iron kettles—making both their soy sauce and Kinzanji miso in that way today as well. I had originally planned to visit a different soy sauce brewery, but heavy rain made it impossible. Sometimes, the places you cannot reach end up guiding you to the story you were truly meant to find. For me, Kuroshio Sou was exactly that kind of place. The wonderful Onsen gently healed not only my body, but my mind as well. The quiet comfort throughout the building, Chef Etani’s cuisine, and the hospitality of all staff— together they quietly express this Accommodation’s philosophy in everything it does。 As a former chef from Tasmania, there is something I felt deeply: True hospitality is not just serving delicious food; it is helping guests connect with the people and culture that sustain a place。 I now have one more reason to return to Wakayama。 Thank you again from my heart.

This was our first trip traveling with our dog. The Room was clean, the amenities were well stocked, and the food was very delicious. The staff were also kind to our dog. We would love to stay again. Thank you very much.

Just looking out at the lake from our Room made me feel truly happy. Everything in the Hotel, starting with the Room, was so comfortable that I was really glad we chose to stay here. The portions were very generous and a bit too much for me, but both dinner and breakfast were delicious. Thank you very much. This is an Accommodation I definitely want to visit again. Next time, I’m planning to come by car with my husband, and I’m already looking forward to it. (I also loved the wonderful bath in our Room, but I wanted to see the Onsen building as well; I’m very sorry for the trouble caused regarding the lockers.)

It was a very satisfying trip to Shirahama. This Accommodation is in an excellent location, close to Shirarahama Beach. The Room was thoroughly cleaned, and we were very satisfied. We love Onsen, so we were happy with the large public bath here. The food was delicious as well. All the staff were attentive and helpful—thank you very much. It was an Accommodation that exceeded its price. We were also blessed with good weather and could relax at our leisure. It’s an Accommodation that makes us want to come again.

This was the perfect accommodation, thoughtfully designed for guests to relax and enjoy their stay. We stayed in a detached room with a private bath, and everything about the room—its spaciousness, cleanliness, view, and amenities—was exceptional. For those who find it uncomf

The tranquility of sunrise and the mirror-like beauty of the lake's surface, as well as the fiery red skies during sunset, offered truly calming scenery. The locally sourced dinner course was exceptional, especially on the second day. The breakfast was also satisfying with its

From arrival to departure, the staff were consistently courteous and attentive, making our stay truly comfortable. The service was impeccable. The Room retains the charm of a traditional Japanese house while offering a calm, spacious layout for relaxing. In addition to the deck,

I stayed here for one night during a 3-night, 4-day trip. The buffet was tastier than at the other accommodations I stayed at, and the portion size was just right. When visiting by motorcycle, posting on social media came with a complimentary drink. The Facility feels a bit dated, but I recommend it for touring.

It was our first visit, and we are truly grateful for the relaxing, delicious, and pleasant time that exceeded our expectations. The Hotel staff were all very friendly and attentive, and we are so glad we chose to come here. The scenery was stunning, and the amenities, cuisine, a

As I mentioned in my previous review, the surroundings are serene with nothing but tranquility. While soaking in the open-air bath, all you can hear is the sound of waves—a truly relaxing accommodation that my wife loved so much we decided to stay again. With only a few rooms av

This was our third stay, and the free-flowing Onsen with no added water is outstanding. One of the highlights is being able to relax together as a couple in the private bath. Breakfast was delicious both to look at and to eat, and we were completely full. The parking lot is spacious, the location is great, and we love the views from the Room—Shirarahama Beach, sunsets, and more. We’d like to visit again when we can find the time.

Meeting Ga-chan, your adorable resident cat mascot, made me so happy! The onsen experience, meals, staff hospitality—everything about this accommodation was excellent! For cat lovers it's perfect; even those who aren't will surely be satisfied with this wonderful accommodation

The stargazing under a dark sky without any lights was breathtaking—the best starry sky we've ever seen in our lives. Watching shooting stars from the bath was extraordinary; both of us were left speechless and could only keep saying how amazing it all was. We also enjoyed a hea

We stayed from the 15th to the 16th. The hospitality and service were outstanding, and everyone’s smiles were wonderful. The ocean is right in front of you, just a short walk away, and the view was amazing—almost like Hawaii. Dinner was delicious, and the breakfast buffet was exc

We stayed as a family and were comfortable throughout our entire visit! The building feels a bit traditional, but the inside is bright, and we could sense thoughtful attention to detail everywhere, which made it very relaxing. All the staff were pleasant, and the Accommodation wa

The view from the open-air bath is amazing. I was able to relax in the free-flowing Onsen. The meals were very delicious and satisfying. Since each dish is served individually, I could enjoy my meal at a leisurely pace. I was curious about something that looked like a red bridge in the distance from the dining area, but it seems to be part of an airport facility. The Room is spacious and comes with a massage chair and an open-air pot bath, which also made me very satisfied. There are many Reviews saying the building is old, but does that cause any inconvenience? It didn’t bother me at all. The staff were very kind and soothing. Please let me stay again.

Welcome drinks included coffee, soft drinks, and delicious onion soup. In the evening, wine and snacks were also available. The meals were served buffet-style and were satisfying. It would have been nice to have condiments on the table. The room and bath were well-cleaned, making for a comfortable stay. This is one of the accommodations I would like to revisit.

There are large TVs in both the bedroom and the living room, and my mother was thrilled to be able to watch the Asian Games!! We were truly impressed by how thoughtfully everything was arranged—down to the TV placement and easy-to-use amenities—as if our movements had been anticipated in advance. After a 4-hour journey, staying at this Accommodation made all our fatigue disappear! Breakfast was also amazing—they cooked tamagoyaki fresh on the spot, and it was incredibly delicious. The bath was great too, so we slept soundly that night. We’ll be back.

The sea was also clear and relaxing. The bath water was crystal clear with a silky texture, making it very pleasant. The hospitality and service were excellent, and the Room was clean, so we were satisfied. The dining experience was well presented, and both the conger eel and Awa
