Wakasa Fugu Inn Shimojo

Dinner was a course featuring pufferfish and a boat platter, and we enjoyed plenty of pufferfish. The local sake was also delicious, and we ended up drinking more than planned.Breakfast was Japanese-style as well, with side dishes that paired nicely with white rice. The homemade pickled plums were tasty too.We stayed in a detached room, but the stairs were steep, so going up and down with a suitcase felt a bit unsafe.The bath was small, but very relaxing. The bath mat was quite slippery, which concerned me, but overall the place was clean and the staff were sincere and attentive. It was a wonderful guesthouse—I’d like to bring my father next time.

This was my second stay. I was truly satisfied with the meals.The Accommodation itself is a very traditional guesthouse. The bath is not an Onsen and is fairly small, but it feels clean.I didn’t use the provided shampoo and conditioner, but it’s safer to bring your own.They probably only have an all-in-one shampoo/conditioner that may leave your hair feeling dry. The stairs up to the Room are extremely steep, so it may be difficult for elderly guests. Of course, there is no elevator.You can feel the age and tight spaces in many areas, but the staff’s service and the delicious food more than make up for it.It’s an Accommodation I’d like to stay at again.
