HAYAMAKAN

I stayed at Hayamakan in Kaminoyama Onsen for one night from September 22.It is an older building, but it was thoroughly cleaned down to every corner, making it a very pleasant Accommodation.Both breakfast and dinner were delicious, and I was truly impressed.At dinner, the staff member who assisted us was a woman from Nepal and new to the job, but she explained everything with a smile and left a wonderful impression.If I could make one suggestion: I couldn’t find the large public bath on the 3rd floor and ended up walking back and forth. It felt like a hidden room, which was interesting, but I think it would be easier to find if there were noren curtains or clearer signage.There were five of us (all men), and everyone commented with smiles that it was truly a great Accommodation. Each of us would like to return again with our families. Thank you very much.

Although the building is old, it is very well cleaned and the hospitality is excellent, so I think this is an Accommodation you can be truly satisfied with. It was also fun and nostalgic to be able to contact the front desk using a telephone you don’t see these days—perhaps making good use of the property’s vintage charm.One small thing: the yukata brought to me because the size didn’t fit had a slight odor that concerned me a bit. That said, I may simply be overly sensitive.In any case, the service is outstanding, and every staff member provided wonderful hospitality. I was deeply impressed by their thoughtful attention to detail. By chance there was a festival that day and we were able to watch fireworks; they even told us the best viewing spot, which made it a great memory. Thank you very much.As for the meals, the rice was cooked perfectly and delicious. The side dishes were excellent as well, but especially how good the rice was stood out. One suggestion: if the green onions in the breakfast miso soup could be lightly cooked in advance, then warming it at the table would make it even tastier—I felt they sometimes didn’t cook through enough with table heating alone. Still, overall everything was extremely delicious.This is an Accommodation I will definitely want to stay at again when I visit Kaminoyama Onsen.
