I am an Onsen enthusiast who stays over 80 nights a year, mainly in Izu. I have stayed at Kameya Keian more than 30 nights in the past, and this year I stayed for 4 nights. The cuisine was artistic in presentation, and the flavor—especially the richness of the dashi—was something no other Hotel or Ryokan can match; it was absolutely outstanding. The Onsen water quality is excellent, as expected of the historic Izunagaoka Onsen, making this a top-rated Onsen Ryokan. I will visit again.

A lot has happened recently, and my husband took the lead and worked hard through it all. Now that things have finally settled down, we chose to stay here so he—and our dogs—could relax and enjoy some carefree time together. My husband said he was happy to experience something out of the ordinary again after a long time! The food was delicious, and we were truly satisfied with everything, including the Hotel staff’s hospitality and their thoughtful care for our dogs. Thank you very much for giving us such a wonderful time!

It had been since last autumn, but this is an Accommodation that soothes me no matter when I visit. Of course, the Room and the Onsen are wonderful, as are the meals—modern French with witty, thought-provoking menus each time, and a Japanese breakfast made with carefully selected ingredients—but even more than that, I’m always delighted by the staff’s quiet attentiveness everywhere, including turndown service during both dinner and breakfast. I go outside the rear entrance to smoke each time, and there was a small bench that hadn’t been there before. Near the exit were several mats you can use on the bench. I was moved by these little touches and found myself even more captivated by Kokon. I’m already looking forward to deciding when to visit next.

Blessed with fine weather and feeling well, my spouse and I were thoroughly satisfied with the beautifully crafted French dishes, each like a work of art. The location was excellent, and we fully enjoyed watching Mt. Fuji change color moment by moment through the window. The Ikeda 20th Century Museum of Art is also nearby, making it a wonderful day.

Thank you for taking care of us on our family trip. Check-in while enjoying a welcome drink was a nice touch, and the Room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. There were two bathing options: a free open-air bath and a large public bath, and we could even see Mt. Fuji from the large public bath. Dinner was delicious across the board; although we were full by the end of the meal, the house specialty “Izu Mabushi” was light and refreshing, so we enjoyed it easily. Breakfast featured a variety of side dishes served in small portions on multiple small plates—beautifully presented, and every dish was tasty. The staff were also very pleasant and welcoming, which made our stay even better. We would love to come again. Thank you very much.

I planned to share the Room name as part of a birthday message for him, and the Ryokan kindly helped by arranging a bouquet in the Room. Then, on the day, they upgraded our Room, which also made my message to him even more special, and it became a time that brought us even closer (lol). The staff were very kind, and since the bath was private to our Room only, we were able to relax and enjoy our time together. I would definitely like to stay again! Thank you very much.

We stayed here to celebrate our anniversary, and everything was exceptional. Being able to soak in the wonderful Onsen at any time, surrounded by the soothing scent of hinoki cypress, was pure bliss. The meals were outstanding—especially breakfast. We were truly impressed by the carefully prepared dishes made with delicious dashi, and ended up eating far more rice than usual. Every staff member was kind and attentive with just the right sense of distance, allowing us to relax throughout our stay. We would love to return again. We stayed at Fugaku Gunjo as a couple during a summer holiday we were able to take at short notice. Away from the bustle of everyday life, we were able to spend unhurried time together in a quiet setting. Even though it was a short stay, it felt deeply fulfilling. Although we were blessed with clear weather on the day of our stay, the typical summer haze meant we couldn’t see Mt. Fuji clearly during the daytime. Then, around 6:00 the next morning, I happened to glance outside and there it was—Mt. Fuji standing out in crisp detail. Its powerful, beautiful summer presence—so different from its snow-capped 모습—left a lasting impression. Listening to cicadas, simply taking in the view and enjoying time doing nothing. Even moments when we would normally keep ourselves busy felt like a luxury here. It was an experience unique to Fugaku Gunjo, where only the sounds of nature blend into the stillness. The dining was also exceptional. The French kaiseki dinner showcased each ingredient with great care, and every course was a pleasure. Japanese and French elements came together naturally, creating refined dishes that remained enjoyable through to the end. Breakfast was equally memorable. The rice cooked in a traditional pot was truly delicious—we realized we had finished every last bite between us without even noticing. We also learned that some of their rice and vegetables are grown on their own farm, and we were impressed by how seriously this Accommodation values its ingredients from the very source. Not just presentation but attention to these details is what elevates the entire stay. What especially stayed with us this time was the hospitality of all staff members. From Shuttle Service to check-in and dining, everyone we met was friendly and welcoming with genuine smiles—and their sense of distance felt perfectly comfortable as well. Their warm hospitality never felt formal or scripted; it put us at ease again and again throughout our stay. Though it was only one night and two days, everything from arrival to departure felt consistently pleasant. Beyond the spectacular views, beautiful rooms, and wonderful food—from growing ingredients on their own farm to thoughtful attentiveness by staff—you can feel careful dedication throughout this Accommodation. Looking back on this trip, it feels less like “an Accommodation you stay at for sightseeing somewhere else,” and more like “a place you travel for in order to spend time here.” Next time, we’d love to visit in another season—and enjoy a trip where staying at Fugaku Gunjo itself is our main purpose once again as a couple.

This was my first trip to Shizuoka and my first time staying at this Hotel, and the staff member at the parking lot reception was very kind, which put me at ease even before check-in. The large public bath had the most spacious washing area I have ever seen in a Hotel, and the bathtub was also large, so I could relax comfortably. Breakfast the next morning offered a wide variety of both Western and Japanese dishes, which surprised me. I was very satisfied.

This was my first stay, and I truly enjoyed it. The staff’s hospitality was excellent, the wonderful Room with a semi-open-air bath in natural tones was very relaxing, and both dinner and breakfast offered a wide variety of dishes—beautifully presented and absolutely delicious! I had a fantastic chill time. I’ll definitely visit again, specifically for Gora Onsen!

When I went to the bath on the 12th floor, I didn’t realize the bath towels were under the TV. Someone I shared the elevator with had brought one, so I asked and found out that’s where they were. The towel location might be a little hard to notice.

If you’re craving delicious fish, this is highly recommended! You can enjoy truly tasty fish until you’re completely satisfied. Of course, the Room is also comfortable, and it’s a nice bonus to have a view of Mt. Fuji! The horse mackerel at breakfast was so good that I bought some to take home on the way back. A wonderful Accommodation.

Before the end of the rainy season, it rained and we couldn’t see Mt. Fuji during our stay. The location was excellent, and both the dinner and breakfast buffets were delicious—we ate lots of great food, and beer was all-you-can-drink. The Onsen felt a bit lukewarm, and there was only an indoor bath with no open-air bath, but overall we were satisfied. In the Japanese-style Room, it was cold with the air conditioner and summer bedding, so we used a blanket from the closet. The pillows were low. The air conditioner was positioned out of sight, and the Room became quite dry while sleeping, so next time we turned on the humidifier in the corner of the Room. Being confused in the middle of the night was a small downside. There were water and coffee services at reception, an extension cord for charging in the Room, and Japanese sweets provided as well—these thoughtful details were much appreciated.

I’ve stayed at other Dormy Inn Hotels several times on business trips, and everything—cleanliness, the Onsen, and the meals—has always been excellent. This time we visited for a family trip, and my wife and child were thrilled. It made our trip truly enjoyable, and we’d love to stay again!

We stayed here for a family trip with our parents in their 80s. The Room was spacious and spotless, with the toilet and bath separated, and a generously sized washbasin—everything exceeded our expectations! Both the Italian dinner and the Japanese breakfast were excellent. In particular, the main dishes of the Italian course (both the fish and meat) were outstanding, and the peach mille-feuille dessert was just the right size and not overly sweet—absolutely delicious. The staff who assisted us were also very pleasant, making it a thoroughly satisfying stay for our whole family. It was also great for my parents that we could take the elevator to get to the large public bath. The only disappointment was that Mt. Fuji didn’t show itself—but that can’t be helped! A staff member told us it’s often difficult in summer, so we’d love to visit again in a different season someday!

We could even see Mt. Fuji—just as my parents had always said—and we were very satisfied! We stay at various Ryokan, but the meals here were especially generous and delicious. The staff were kind to our child as well, and our child seemed to love it the whole time and stayed in a great mood. We’d love to stay again when we visit Shizuoka!

This was my second stay, and I stayed alone this time. The Room was assigned, but it was comfortable and I was very satisfied. For breakfast, you choose your favorite small dishes and place them on a tray; the local ingredients were well used and everything was delicious. Since I wanted to enjoy the Onsen, I’m glad I didn’t make it a rushed day trip. Next time, I’ll come again with my husband. Thank you very much.

We stay here every year, and the food is simply delicious. If you stay for two nights, the dinner buffet menu changes slightly. It’s fun to see that something from yesterday is gone, or that something new has been added. It’s also convenient that Suganodai Bus Center, Komagane Farms, and “Boke” apple pie are all within walking distance.

I couldn’t forget the views of Fuji Speedway and Mt. Fuji, so I made a Reservation well in advance. I was so impressed by breakfast last time that I knew dinner had to be the Italian course—and I highly recommend the cuisine as well. Every dish was fresh, thoughtfully prepared, and absolutely delicious. At other Accommodations, when you return, there’s sometimes something disappointing—but this Accommodation moves me every time I visit. On top of that, the smiles of all the staff during even casual conversations make me feel truly comfortable. It gives me the energy to do my best again starting tomorrow. Thank you very much.

This was my first time staying here. An all-inclusive Hotel. There was a great variety of food and drinks in the lounge, and the dashi broth and burgers were especially delicious. The lounge on the upper floor had a calm atmosphere and was very nice. The bath, footbath, and buffet meals were all great. The tea ceremony experience, table tennis, board games, and video games were fun. If the weather had been better, I would have liked to play tennis. The whole-orange juice was delicious. Mt. Fuji after the typhoon passed was a spectacular view. We stayed for two nights and would like to stay again.
