I am an Onsen enthusiast who stays over 80 nights a year, mainly in Izu. I have stayed at Kameya Keian more than 30 nights in the past, and this year I stayed for 4 nights. The cuisine was artistic in presentation, and the flavor—especially the richness of the dashi—was something no other Hotel or Ryokan can match; it was absolutely outstanding. The Onsen water quality is excellent, as expected of the historic Izunagaoka Onsen, making this a top-rated Onsen Ryokan. I will visit again.

A lot has happened recently, and my husband took the lead and worked hard through it all. Now that things have finally settled down, we chose to stay here so he—and our dogs—could relax and enjoy some carefree time together. My husband said he was happy to experience something out of the ordinary again after a long time! The food was delicious, and we were truly satisfied with everything, including the Hotel staff’s hospitality and their thoughtful care for our dogs. Thank you very much for giving us such a wonderful time!

Blessed with fine weather and feeling well, my spouse and I were thoroughly satisfied with the beautifully crafted French dishes, each like a work of art. The location was excellent, and we fully enjoyed watching Mt. Fuji change color moment by moment through the window. The Ikeda 20th Century Museum of Art is also nearby, making it a wonderful day.

It had been since last autumn, but this is an Accommodation that soothes me no matter when I visit. Of course, the Room and the Onsen are wonderful, as are the meals—modern French with witty, thought-provoking menus each time, and a Japanese breakfast made with carefully selected ingredients—but even more than that, I’m always delighted by the staff’s quiet attentiveness everywhere, including turndown service during both dinner and breakfast. I go outside the rear entrance to smoke each time, and there was a small bench that hadn’t been there before. Near the exit were several mats you can use on the bench. I was moved by these little touches and found myself even more captivated by Kokon. I’m already looking forward to deciding when to visit next.

Thank you for taking care of us on our family trip. Check-in while enjoying a welcome drink was a nice touch, and the Room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. There were two bathing options: a free open-air bath and a large public bath, and we could even see Mt. Fuji from the large public bath. Dinner was delicious across the board; although we were full by the end of the meal, the house specialty “Izu Mabushi” was light and refreshing, so we enjoyed it easily. Breakfast featured a variety of side dishes served in small portions on multiple small plates—beautifully presented, and every dish was tasty. The staff were also very pleasant and welcoming, which made our stay even better. We would love to come again. Thank you very much.

I planned to share the Room name as part of a birthday message for him, and the Ryokan kindly helped by arranging a bouquet in the Room. Then, on the day, they upgraded our Room, which also made my message to him even more special, and it became a time that brought us even closer (lol). The staff were very kind, and since the bath was private to our Room only, we were able to relax and enjoy our time together. I would definitely like to stay again! Thank you very much.

Every month, coming back here makes us feel at ease. For us, it’s not just a place to stay—it’s a special place where we can truly relax when we return. Thank you so much to everyone who always welcomes us with the same warm smiles. The time we get to spend here is a source of comfort for our hearts. Chef, of course everything is delicious, but we can really feel the care you put into each and every dish, and it makes us happy every time. We’re grateful to keep finding dishes that make us think, “I want to eat this again,” no matter how many times we’ve had them. A huge thank-you to you and the entire kitchen team!! We stayed at Fugaku Gunjo as a couple during a summer holiday we were able to take at short notice. Away from the bustle of everyday life, we were able to spend unhurried time together in a quiet setting. Even though it was a short stay, it felt deeply fulfilling. Although we were blessed with clear weather on the day of our stay, the typical summer haze meant we couldn’t see Mt. Fuji clearly during the daytime. Then, around 6:00 the next morning, I happened to glance outside and there it was—Mt. Fuji standing out in crisp detail. Its powerful, beautiful summer presence—so different from its snow-capped 모습—left a lasting impression. Listening to cicadas, simply taking in the view and enjoying time doing nothing. Even moments when we would normally keep ourselves busy felt like a luxury here. It was an experience unique to Fugaku Gunjo, where only the sounds of nature blend into the stillness. The dining was also exceptional. The French kaiseki dinner showcased each ingredient with great care, and every course was a pleasure. Japanese and French elements came together naturally, creating refined dishes that remained enjoyable through to the end. Breakfast was equally memorable. The rice cooked in a traditional pot was truly delicious—we realized we had finished every last bite between us without even noticing. We also learned that some of their rice and vegetables are grown on their own farm, and we were impressed by how seriously this Accommodation values its ingredients from the very source. Not just presentation but attention to these details is what elevates the entire stay. What especially stayed with us this time was the hospitality of all staff members. From Shuttle Service to check-in and dining, everyone we met was friendly and welcoming with genuine smiles—and their sense of distance felt perfectly comfortable as well. Their warm hospitality never felt formal or scripted; it put us at ease again and again throughout our stay. Though it was only one night and two days, everything from arrival to departure felt consistently pleasant. Beyond the spectacular views, beautiful rooms, and wonderful food—from growing ingredients on their own farm to thoughtful attentiveness by staff—you can feel careful dedication throughout this Accommodation. Looking back on this trip, it feels less like “an Accommodation you stay at for sightseeing somewhere else,” and more like “a place you travel for in order to spend time here.” Next time, we’d love to visit in another season—and enjoy a trip where staying at Fugaku Gunjo itself is our main purpose once again as a couple.

When I went to the bath on the 12th floor, I didn’t realize the bath towels were under the TV. Someone I shared the elevator with had brought one, so I asked and found out that’s where they were. The towel location might be a little hard to notice.

This was our second stay as a couple. Just like last time, all the staff were friendly and attentive, and it reminded us what a wonderful Hotel this is. The Room and bath were of course lovely, but what truly stands out at this Hotel is the food. Since the menu lists only the ingredients, we try to imagine what will come—and it’s always even more creative than we expect, which makes it so much fun. Every time, we’re amazed by the presentation, combinations, and flavors, and my husband and I enjoyed dinner saying, “They’re geniuses.” And the paired wines are incredible! They’re so delicious that we’re surprised every time. We were happy to spend such a wonderful time here. We will definitely be back!

This was our first stay. My wife, who is very particular about everything, said, “This Room is comfortable, so we’ll be fine,” and even wanted to cancel the other Hotels we had planned. We were wondering what to do for a four-week Hotel stay during our home renovation, so we consulted the front desk. Despite being busy, they kindly helped us, and as a result we changed our plans and stayed long-term. The breakfast selection was extensive, and my wife—who rarely eats out due to food allergies and usually has to cook for herself—enjoyed it every morning without getting tired of it. The lounge, the Onsen, and the parking were all excellent as well, and every staff member was very courteous. When we mentioned a concern about cleaning, they responded immediately. We are truly grateful that our long stay went smoothly. Thank you very much for taking such great care of us.

I’ve stayed at other Dormy Inn Hotels several times on business trips, and everything—cleanliness, the Onsen, and the meals—has always been excellent. This time we visited for a family trip, and my wife and child were thrilled. It made our trip truly enjoyable, and we’d love to stay again!

If you’re craving delicious fish, this is highly recommended! You can enjoy truly tasty fish until you’re completely satisfied. Of course, the Room is also comfortable, and it’s a nice bonus to have a view of Mt. Fuji! The horse mackerel at breakfast was so good that I bought some to take home on the way back. A wonderful Accommodation.

Before the end of the rainy season, it rained and we couldn’t see Mt. Fuji during our stay. The location was excellent, and both the dinner and breakfast buffets were delicious—we ate lots of great food, and beer was all-you-can-drink. The Onsen felt a bit lukewarm, and there was only an indoor bath with no open-air bath, but overall we were satisfied. In the Japanese-style Room, it was cold with the air conditioner and summer bedding, so we used a blanket from the closet. The pillows were low. The air conditioner was positioned out of sight, and the Room became quite dry while sleeping, so next time we turned on the humidifier in the corner of the Room. Being confused in the middle of the night was a small downside. There were water and coffee services at reception, an extension cord for charging in the Room, and Japanese sweets provided as well—these thoughtful details were much appreciated.

We stay here every year, and the food is simply delicious. If you stay for two nights, the dinner buffet menu changes slightly. It’s fun to see that something from yesterday is gone, or that something new has been added. It’s also convenient that Suganodai Bus Center, Komagane Farms, and “Boke” apple pie are all within walking distance.

We had a very relaxing stay. Unfortunately, it was rainy and cloudy on both days, so we couldn’t see Mt. Fuji. However, both dinner and breakfast were delicious—we were very satisfied. By chance, a staff member from our hometown served us, which made for a wonderful time. On our way out, they even gave us a souvenir to celebrate my husband’s birthday. It was a lovely trip. Thank you very much.

All staff were pleasant overall, and the check-in explanations were detailed and courteous, so I had no trouble during my stay. This time I booked a Multiple Night Stay for two nights, and the breakfast side dishes had a good variety with some changes each morning, so I enjoyed it without getting bored. As for the Room, on the first day we were assigned one at the hotel’s discretion; it was a twin Room with plenty of space. The second day’s Room (single) was simple but more than sufficient, very clean, and comfortable. It was also great that each Room has its own air conditioner, making the environment comfortable throughout. The only downside is that getting around by elevator can take time, so it’s best to allow extra time when moving around. In addition to the in-room bath, there is a large public bath on the top floor with panoramic city views, as well as an open-air bath, which made for a very relaxing experience. There are also good restaurants nearby, so unless there is heavy rain or similar weather, you shouldn’t feel inconvenienced. There are many affiliated parking lots nearby; if you park at places like Yodobashi Parking, you can choose covered parking as well, which made driving there feel reassuring.

I’m a repeat guest who visits whenever the dining menu changes, and no matter how many times I stay, this Hotel always feels special—comfortable, never boring, and a perfect escape from everyday life. This time, just before the menu changed, I had the FIJI course at OYAMA. Every dish was outstanding: six beautifully crafted courses made with carefully selected ingredients and skillful techniques, plus dessert—all delicious. As always, the staff’s timing and attentive yet natural service made the meal truly enjoyable.

We stayed for two nights during the Obon holiday period in August. From our email exchanges before arrival, we already felt this was a very attentive Accommodation, and our stay fully lived up to that impression. The Accommodation has the charm of a traditional Japanese Ryokan, yet it never feels outdated—rather, it offers an elegant and calming atmosphere. What impressed us most was how impeccably clean everything was wherever we went. Even in shared areas such as the lobby, the large public bath, and the massage area, we didn’t notice any dust or litter at all. Needless to say, the Room was also cleaned with great care, including the private open-air bath attached to it. The Onsen water temperature in our Room was just right, allowing us to soak and relax comfortably; even after bathing we stayed pleasantly warm, and we felt it was truly high-quality Onsen water. We only used the large public bath once or twice because it felt a bit shallow for us, but both the washing area and changing room were spacious and very comfortable to use. The private bath was also excellent; however, the only issue was that the tub surface inside was extremely slippery—I nearly slipped and fell. I later noticed there was a warning sign, but it might have been helpful if someone had mentioned this in advance. What made us happiest about both the large public bath and private baths was that towels (both sizes) and amenities were all provided there. These days many places ask guests to bring towels from their Room to shared baths (or private baths), which is always inconvenient and frustrating. Here, towels were available at every bathing area—and there were plenty of towels in the Room as well—so we could enjoy bathing very comfortably. The only Facility/amenity improvement I would hope for is regarding the indoor slippers provided in the building: they were quite tight around my toes and didn’t fit me well, so my toes rubbed painfully enough to peel skin. If possible, I would have appreciated having an alternative option such as sandals alongside them. The meals were delicious with no particular complaints; however, I’m giving four stars simply because I hope they will become even better going forward. Overall: a comfortable and spotless Accommodation; every staff member (including housekeeping) was genuinely polite yet friendly, with wonderful thoughtfulness throughout. It’s an Accommodation we would definitely like to visit again.

The buffet selection was very extensive, every dish was delicious, and we were extremely satisfied. Our Room had an ocean view, the scenery was wonderful, and we were able to relax comfortably. There were also various types of baths, each with a different atmosphere, and we enjoyed them very much. As it is all-inclusive, it’s an especially appealing stay for those who enjoy alcohol. Since we don’t drink much, that part felt a bit wasted for us; however, we understood this in advance when booking, and the complimentary soft drinks and other beverages were plentiful, so it wasn’t inconvenient. One thing we noticed was the in-Room amenities: items such as toner were provided for only one person. We felt it would be more comfortable if they were prepared for the number of guests. Overall, we were highly satisfied with the food, views, and baths alike—it was a wonderful Hotel that we would definitely like to stay at again.
