Matsue Shinjiko Onsen Ohashikan

The Room was very clean and lovely, and I had a comfortable stay.The windows open fully, so you can really enjoy the riverside atmosphere.In the morning, I could even see boats collecting clams.It’s also close to the bus stop, making it convenient for getting anywhere.Everyone at the front desk and the cleaning staff were kind and helpful.The bathroom was clean as well, and it was very pleasant to use.One downside was that there was no luggage rack.Since I have back pain, I placed my luggage on the desk with permission, but then I couldn’t use the desk, which was disappointing.Also, not having a clock by the bed was a small inconvenience.If these points are improved, I think it would be an even more comfortable stay.That said, it’s a wonderful Hotel.I’d definitely like to stay again if I have the chance.

I’m so glad we chose this place! While we were wondering where to stay, it happened to be featured on TV in connection with Lafcadio Hearn. It is an older property, but it seems some Rooms have been renovated and look lovely. The Japanese-style Room we stayed in was more spacious than expected, and the toilet was modern. From the Room we could see Lake Shinji, and in the morning we even watched boats harvesting shijimi clams. There were various yukata to choose from, and they also provide nightwear. There is no open-air bath, but the Onsen was very relaxing. The dining area had stylish semi-private seating, and the food was delicious. There were no large tour groups, so we could unwind comfortably. I think the location is also great for walking around town—Matsue Castle is very close as well. When we asked for help taking photos outside the Ryokan, they kindly agreed and took wonderful pictures for us. It’s a Ryokan that made us want to stay again.
