  A Fun Girls’ Trip

  Now that we’re done raising our children, five friends and I take a girls’ trip every year, and we often stay at APA Hotels. The lobby staff are kind, and at the APA Hotel in Ishigaki Island we were able to enjoy 24-hour complimentary drinks and soft-serve ice cream, which made for a very comfortable stay. However, an elderly woman overseeing the breakfast area repeatedly told us to put the tables back and clear the dishes before even waiting to see if we would do so, which was very unpleasant.

  The bathroom smells.

  APA Hotel is consistently reliable, clean, bright, and fully equipped with amenities. This location is no exception and is wonderful. However, the unit bath has a strong unpleasant odor, resembling sewage. This seems to be a structural issue, likely due to a problem with the double trap in the sewage pipes, causing water not to accumulate and allowing odors from the main sewage pipe to rise. I believe the Hotel staff are aware of this odor issue. This is because both the bathtub and sink were securely plugged to prevent the smell from coming up. I am not sure if this is the case in all rooms, but as a Hotel carrying the APA Hotel brand, I think this issue should be properly addressed, even if it incurs costs. It is disappointing, especially since everything else is perfect.

  Thank you very much for staying at APA Property Ishigaki Island. We sincerely apologize for the unpleasant experience caused by the odor in the bathtub, despite choosing our Property. Although we conducted cleaning and odor checks before allowing guests to enter and deemed it problem-free, we regret that this issue was brought to our attention. Please note that the plugs in the washbasin and bathtub are used not for odor prevention but to prevent insects from entering. We will use your feedback, including the matter of the plugs, to help improve our services in the future. We will continue to strive to ensure a comfortable stay, and we would be grateful if you would consider staying with us again.

  Consistent reliability without any misses

  The view from the room on the road side was not good, but even on the sea side, there is another hotel right in front, so it might not be that great. The room was new and spacious enough. I was happy to be able to watch movies on the TV and watched two. The amenities and facilities were well-managed, providing consistently good service. On the first day, there were few seats in the breakfast venue, and it felt a bit unsettling to wait in line, so we went later on the second day. It was less crowded, but there was less food than on the first day. However, overall, I am satisfied!
