A place you’ll want to come back to, just to spend time doing nothing.

“We want you to connect with majestic nature, spend time without watching the clock, and rediscover your true, unadorned self.” That is exactly what we experienced at Kararito Goto Islands—rich, fulfilling time that felt truly in harmony with nature. What left the strongest impression was the staff’s thoughtful yet natural hospitality. After we arrived, we had a little time before our next plan, and they even suggested how to spend it: “You could head to Onidake now and come back after having Goto udon.” Even when I asked at the last minute, “Can we go to Onidake now and still make it back?” they explained everything in detail, so we could head out with peace of mind. It was also fun hearing local stories you can only get here—like a staff member telling us they went to the same junior high school as actress Haruna Kawaguchi. My daughter joined a camellia extraction experience as well, and she seemed to really enjoy it while chatting happily with the staff. At the same time, nothing ever felt over-serviced. They were warmly attentive when needed, but otherwise let us enjoy our own time freely. That comfortable sense of distance felt just right. The sea stretches out right in front of the Room, and the view is incredible. On the ocean-view terrace, we relaxed on the sofa listening to the waves and feeling the breeze. It felt like we could lie there forever—and before we knew it, time had flown by. During our morning walk, taking time to lie back on the stargazing terrace was also wonderfully refreshing. We were also happy there was a large public bath; soaking in such a spacious bath gave us an open, relaxing feeling that was different from being in our Room. The hair dryers in the public bath were ReFa, and the shampoo/conditioner/body soap were OSAJI. Each choice felt tasteful and made everything feel just a little luxurious. In terms of Facilities too—plenty of hangers in the Room, a large indoor drying rack available for use, and laundry detergent provided—it was clear how much thought had gone into making things comfortable for guests actually staying there. Breakfast featured local ingredients with gentle seasoning; portions were just right as well—a comforting start to our day. Overall, what stood out most was how it wasn’t flashy—just simple and refined.

    It was a wonderful stay.

We stayed in an oceanfront Room and it was very comfortable for our family of four. We joined the Big SUP activity, and they were flexible in changing the course based on the strong winds and our children’s experience level. The Mexican-style dinner was truly one of a kind and exceptionally delicious. The large public bath was spacious and clean. It became a wonderful memory for our whole family. Thank you very much.

    It was very good.

The skip-floor Room was very comfortable. Being able to have up to five people in one Room, and also sleep in separate areas, made it perfect for a three-generation trip. We had breakfast at the Accommodation and ate lunch and dinner at restaurants on the island. The Hotel’s breakfast and dinner are set menus, but given the island location that seems unavoidable. Breakfast had a gentle flavor, used local island ingredients, and was delicious. We also rented a car from the Hotel, so they provided Shuttle Service to the airport, and the snacks in the Room were so good that we bought some to take home. We borrowed a desk lamp for our child’s summer homework, and having a washing machine in the Room was convenient as well. Our child didn’t want to swim so we didn’t go into the sea, but the beach in front of the Hotel was beautiful, and there was also a spot where you could lie down at night and watch the stars. It felt like quiet countryside reminiscent of Okinawa’s remote islands, but if we have another chance to visit, I’d like to stay in the South Wing with an ocean view right in front of us.

Unfortunately, this Accommodation did not meet my expectations.

Satisfaction with this Accommodation varies greatly depending on whether you resonate with the Hotel’s concept. If you picture a typical “Resort Hotel,” there is a significant gap. It feels closer to “a lovely café with an Accommodation attached.” The overall atmosphere is free and casual, more like a place geared toward student groups, U/I-turn stays, and workations. The description mentioned service that is “not bound by manuals,” but I believe that kind of approach only works when all staff share a consistent baseline for hospitality and guest flow. There was little consistency in where staff positioned themselves or how they moved around the property, and seeing them hurry through the building while cheerfully greeting guests felt unsettling rather than relaxing. For those who enjoy this kind of vibe, it will likely be appealing. I have visited the Goto Islands several times and usually stayed at a nearby retreat. On my last trip, I had a chance to speak with someone from Kararito at an izakaya, which made me think, “Next time I should definitely stay there,” so I looked forward to this visit. What concerned me most during my stay was how cleaning and towel replacement are handled. Room cleaning is not provided unless you stay 4 nights or more, and for towel replacement guests must place used towels outside the Room by 11:00 a.m. Fresh towels are hung on the doorknob around 2:00–3:00 p.m., meaning there are about three hours when you have no towels in your Room. For longer stays or for guests enjoying marine activities, this can mean wanting to shower during that window but having no towel available. (Calling this an “exchange” also feels questionable.) When I asked at the front desk, they said they could prepare them earlier; however, even if you wait in your Room no one checks in with you—ultimately they were just hung on the doorknob as usual, so I didn’t notice them. (So this part seems very manual-driven.) Also, it seems like an old rest facility that has been renovated; despite being open for four years, I felt noticeable Facility deterioration. Overall, it suits younger travelers who want to keep costs down or those who prioritize a casual atmosphere. On the other hand, it is not suitable for guests expecting Resort Hotel-level comfort or high-quality service. I saw another Review saying something like “the Hotel only does what it wants to do,” and I could relate to that comment to some extent.

Your First Stay in the Goto Islands

I stayed here on my first trip to the Goto Islands. The Room with an ocean view from the terrace was very clean and relaxing. The meal portions were just right for me, but my companion who eats a lot felt it was a little small (haha). I’d be happy if there were more à la carte options! The Mexican flavors were delicious, and the presentation was thoughtful and lovely. Even the menu was creatively designed, which gave us something to talk about and made it even more enjoyable. I had made a Reservation for a SUP activity and tried it for the first time! When the waves were strong and I couldn’t move forward well, they connected our boards and towed us, so we safely reached our destination. It was my first time, but we didn’t go into very deep water, so I felt safe practicing standing up and was very satisfied. Thank you for your kind instruction. Everyone at the front desk was also very courteous, which made my stay comfortable. I’d love to stay again.

    Everything was excellent.

We visited the Goto Islands for the first time to cheer on our family member competing in the Baramon King, and stayed as a family in a maisonette with a wide terrace. We compared Accommodation options from the time we made our Reservation a few months in advance and chose Kararito—and it was absolutely the right choice. We had some changes along the way, including adjusting the number of guests, and they handled everything kindly. They also arranged one meat-free meal for one of us, and thanks to the thoughtful staff, we had a very comfortable stay. We tried SUP for the first time as an activity. With their careful instruction, even someone who isn’t great at marine sports could enjoy it. Above all, dinner was outstanding! We had it 3 of our 4 nights. Each dish overturned what we expected from “Mexican,” delivering delicate flavors beyond imagination. The sauces and herbs paired with fresh local ingredients were exquisite—wine flowed easily and conversation came alive during a wonderful dinner time. The staff’s explanations of each dish were also clear and excellent. If I had one request, I would have loved to see about three breakfast options. The semi-open-air large bath was very relaxing, and our maisonette Room was bright, clean, and comfortable—making this a truly pleasant trip. Thank you very much for taking such good care of us.

    Solo travel

This was my first trip to the Goto Islands, and I stayed for three nights. The Room is compact, but with high ceilings and a simple, tasteful design. I was able to relax while looking out at the calm sea. I had wanted to try fishing in the Goto Islands, and although it is normally a winter-only activity, they kindly accommodated my request. Thanks to the staff’s attentive support, I truly enjoyed it. It would have been even better if there were more options available, such as extending the time. There is no TV, and it was pleasant to use the sound of the sea as background music, but it would have been nicer if there were an environment where I could enjoy my favorite music as well. The healthy breakfast was delicious! This is a Hotel I would recommend to friends.

The location is excellent, and the Facility is adequate.

The beautiful view overlooking Ohama is truly soothing. The staff member in charge of check-in was so unfriendly that I even wondered if my Reservation hadn’t gone through due to a mistake, but the restaurant team and the staff the next morning were all very hospitable. As for the Room, perhaps due to the design, there was no light by the pillow, the layout around the washbasin was inconvenient, and the entrance was too narrow to leave shoes—there were various issues—but considering the price, it may be unavoidable. It’s best viewed as a Business Hotel with an on-site restaurant in a great location.

Unwind with a beachfront location and the warm hospitality of our wonderful staff.

Our first trip to the Goto Islands. We stayed here for three nights and visited Fukue Island, Kamigoto, Naru Island, and Kuga Island. We considered an Accommodation closer to Fukue Port, but a friend who visited last year told us the food was excellent, so we chose this Accommodation with a two-meal Plan. The meals were a bit unusual—Mexican-inspired—but they were delicious ethnic dishes with a great balance of meat and vegetables, and even we as a couple in our 70s were very satisfied. We were concerned that the Room had only a shower and no bathtub, but although it is not an Onsen, the spacious and open large public bath was wonderful, so we didn’t miss having a bath in the Room. The biggest highlights of this Accommodation are its location right in front of a beautiful beach with white sand and crystal-clear water, and the courteous, thoughtful service from the wonderful young staff. We heard that many staff members have relocated here; being welcomed outside upon arrival by taxi is something you rarely see these days even at high-end Ryokan hotels, and it left a great impression. During dinner service as well, the staff cheerfully explained each dish and answered our questions, making it a truly pleasant evening. I know hospitality work can be demanding in many ways, but I hope you will continue your bright and kind service. It also turned out to be the right choice to book one night with two meals here—many izakaya in Fukue seem to fill up quickly with Reservations. If I may ask for one thing: we would be happy if there were Shuttle Service to Fukue Port or the airport even just twice a day. A one-way taxi ride to the port cost about 2,400 yen, which was difficult for us since we weren’t renting a car. We hope to return someday with our grandchildren as well. Thank you very much for such a wonderful stay.

This was my second trip to Fukue Island, and my first stay at Kararito Goto Islands. We traveled as a group of seven and used two twin Rooms and one maisonette Room. Right in front of us was a private beach, and we were able to relax while listening to the sound of the waves. The sun rose from the direction of Onidake, and the morning view was amazing. The food was described as Mexican, and I’m not good with spicy dishes, but it was beautifully presented using local ingredients and tasted great. We tended to linger during meals since that was when we could all talk together, but because we stayed in a maisonette Room, we spent time there when chatting. I think it would be even better if there were an indoor space where a large group could relax together. This trip truly became an unforgettable memory. I’d love to come again.

I definitely want to stay here again.

Colorit was amazing—I was able to add color to my memories. The check-in service was very courteous. We enjoyed the private family sauna; we used it at 7:00 a.m., and the view was incredible. The Facility provided a truly blissful time. An Accommodation that far exceeded our expectations. We definitely want to come back in summer for a Multiple Night Stay.

We were very satisfied with the Room, breakfast, and bath.

Even though I made the rental car reservation the day before, they kindly accommodated me at short notice, including the Shuttle Service, which I truly appreciated. From the staff who provided the Shuttle Service to everyone at the Hotel, I was warmly welcomed, and I’m genuinely glad I chose to stay at Kararito. The Room was quiet, with high ceilings, and from my private balcony I could take in a relaxing ocean view—making my stay incredibly restful. Personally, my favorite was the large public bath. Soaking in the spacious tub surrounded by wooden walls helped soothe my tired body after lots of sightseeing and walking. I enjoyed it so much that I ended up going three times. Thank you very much.

The ocean view from the Room is exceptional.

I saw an oceanfront Room on the website and made a Reservation because I wanted to stay in that Room. The view from the Room was truly amazing! I relaxed while gazing at the emerald-green sea unique to Goto. Although the Room was quite compact, it was thoughtfully arranged, and even though it was categorized as a Business Hotel (perhaps because there’s no bathtub and due to the room size?), it offered amenities and quality comparable to a 4-star Hotel. However, to fully enjoy the ocean view, the sound of the waves, and quiet time, the balcony chairs seemed chosen more for photo appeal than for comfortable long sitting. Also, breakfast items like rice and grilled fish were cold. There were a few other areas that felt more focused on appearance than comfort, so this is my rating. It’s not an easy place to get to, so my evaluation may be a bit strict, but if you’re looking for time to unwind while looking out at the sea, I can’t imagine choosing any other Room than this one.

    Wonderful

Everything—the large public bath, the restaurant, and the guest room—was excellent. Perhaps because it was the off-season, I felt it offered outstanding value for money. It’s in a location that’s difficult to reach without a car, but luckily I took an evening bus and was able to get off right in front of Kararito.

There are a few issues. The breakfast and the linens…

I stayed for two nights in the off-season, and when I first entered the Room, it was the first time I had ever seen a Hotel where the bed linens were so badly wrinkled. The wrinkles were so severe that it made me wonder if they had simply been left as they were from the previous guest. For breakfast, on both days we were only given side dishes in a small wooden box, and neither the variety nor the amount was satisfactory. The portion was about what you would expect for a child, so it wasn’t enough unless we went out and bought more food or ate at a restaurant.

It was a very comfortable stay!

For our first trip to Fukue Island in the Goto Islands, we chose this Hotel! The moment we entered the entrance hall, we were amazed by the high ceiling and open atmosphere. The view through the windows looked like a painting and left us in awe. Our Room was ocean-view, and during our stay, we were soothed by the ever-changing scenery of the sea. The Room's white-based design gave it a clean and refreshing feel, allowing us to relax comfortably. The Mexican dinner and Japanese breakfast featured local ingredients, with each dish carefully prepared and absolutely delicious. The staff maintained a perfect balance of friendliness while respecting privacy, providing excellent hospitality. This is such a wonderful place that I would love to visit again in another season!

The terrace had chairs for relaxing while enjoying the ocean view, which was nice, but due to bad weather or cold temperatures, it would have been better if there were comfortable chairs like a sofa inside the Room. (There was a work desk and chair for that purpose, though...) The shower booth in the Room was too small, perhaps assuming guests would use the spacious and comfortable public bath. The location is excellent, and all staff provided great service, so while I was satisfied with the soft aspects of my stay, I found the hard aspects of the guest Room slightly disappointing.

I stayed here during a solo trip.

I was worried I might not make it in time for dinner due to my late arrival, but thankfully, I did. Thank you for setting up a ramp at the restaurant steps and providing a bath chair as I have difficulty walking. In the end, I didn’t use the public bath. Both dinner and breakfast were very delicious, especially breakfast—I even had seconds of rice on the second day! I had a relaxing stay.

It was a stylish and photogenic Hotel.

The facility is simple yet functional, stylish, and new, offering a clean atmosphere with an absolutely stunning view! The scenery from the restaurant space was picturesque, and the view from the room was equally breathtaking and relaxing. The amenities were also stylish! The bath in the large public bathing area was more spacious than expected. However, there were some disappointing aspects. On stepping out onto the terrace, we could hear conversations from neighboring guests. During breakfast at the restaurant, tables were placed close together in a narrow area, making it necessary to dine very near other guests. Looking towards the sea meant inadvertently looking at someone sitting nearby. We requested a window-side table for breakfast on our second day but this request was not accommodated nor acknowledged. Additionally, access to the sea was inconvenient; it required passing through a narrow pathway. It would have been more convenient if there had been direct access from the restaurant. We also felt some distance with certain staff members (the staff serving breakfast were friendly; however, some of what seemed like full-time employees gave off an air of aloofness). That said, everything about this accommodation is stylish and perfect for satisfying feminine tastes! Please note that these comments reflect my husband's opinions as well—hope they are helpful!

    It was a comfortable stay!

I booked this place after researching various options to visit the Goto Islands in summer. The first thing that caught my eye upon arrival was the spacious hall with its high ceiling, offering a sense of openness, and I was immediately moved by the stunning blue color of the Goto sea visible through the windows. The room had an ocean view, and during my stay, I was soothed by the gentle sound of waves. It was clean and comfortable. Given the rich natural surroundings and season, encountering some insects here and there seemed inevitable. The plan included two meals, and dinner featured Mexican cuisine made with ingredients from Goto. It was innovative yet thoughtfully prepared—and absolutely delicious! The Japanese-style breakfast also had a refined taste and was delightful! Both seafood and produce from Goto are incredibly fresh—truly a treasure trove of ingredients. The large public bath was spacious and comfortable; being semi-open-air allowed me to feel the sea breeze while relaxing in it—a truly healing experience. The staff members were mostly young but conveyed their heartfelt hospitality through their efforts. This is such a wonderful place that I would love to visit again during another season!

    The meals are excellent!

It was a Mexican-style dinner. Everything was new to me, making it an exciting and delicious meal that I thoroughly enjoyed. Sitting on the chairs outside the Room to chat or going out for a walk added to the sense of openness, which I really appreciated. However, the Room had a loft, and my friend who slept in the loft bed found it inconvenient due to the low ceiling. Next time, I plan to choose a Room without a loft.

    Would love to stay again.

It was my first time visiting the Goto Islands, and the sea was calm, beautiful, and truly wonderful. There is nothing around the Hotel. Having a rental car would definitely be convenient. However, since my goal this time was to relax, I bought groceries at a supermarket and took a bus to the Hotel. (The bus runs about once every 1-2 hours.) The Room had various seasonings available, so cooking was no problem. I enjoyed eating and drinking at my own pace, gazing at the sea from the balcony, visiting the large public bath, and fully enjoying my stay at the Hotel. It's perfect for spending a relaxing time. I would love to stay again!

It wasn't bad, but it wasn't a good hotel either. For those who resonate with the concept, it might be a good accommodation, but for others, it's questionable. If you book it thinking of it as more of a luxury hostel rather than a hotel, you might avoid disappointment during your stay. Large insects (definitely around 15cm) appear quite commonly, and in the public bath area, soap residue accumulates in the corners, making one question whether it's cleaned daily. While activities like dinner and outdoor events that the management seems to prioritize are actively conducted, it feels like they don't truly consider the guests staying there. During my stay, I often wondered who this accommodation is really for.

I wasn’t sure about staying alone at a Resort Hotel, but I was very satisfied and able to spend a truly relaxing time. A Relaxing Place

Although it was on the opposite side of Fukue Port, it was easily accessible by car. This modern-style accommodation had very kind staff. Located right next to the sea, the view from the room was a beautiful coastline. We enjoyed collecting various colorful and uniquely shaped shells, creating wonderful memories.
