    It is designed for international guests.

    I stayed for work, so I couldn't spend much time sightseeing. I knew it wasn't the type of Hotel to relax in leisurely, so I was fully satisfied. The staff's service was excellent. Even during busy times when things can often go wrong, the young staff members were all kind and greeted me with smiles, which made me happy. As for breakfast, I felt it was catered more towards international guests, but I was still satisfied. The daily sandwich selection had a unique style that you can only find here. It didn’t need to have many options; it had exactly what I wanted. The bed was very comfortable to sleep on. Thank you very much!

    The Best Hotel (Perfect for Long Stays)

    Originally a dormitory for a prep school, the place has a resort-like atmosphere. You'll first be greeted by the soothing smiles of the front desk staff. The Room design evokes a sense of being abroad, reminiscent of Southeast Asia. The breakfast is both healthy and delicious. You can feel the pride the staff take in their work at this Hotel. I wish I could stay here for at least a month!

    It was an accommodation I liked.

    The location is a bit away from Kyoto Station and the city center. However, thanks to that, the surroundings are very quiet, and I had a great night's sleep. As a Korean guest, I appreciated having Korean staff who were very kind and helpful. When I asked about good nearby restaurants, they gave me an adorable original map from the Hotel, which made me happy. It was a stylish yet charming Hotel that also gave off a sense of Kyoto's unique atmosphere.

    The front desk staff is present but unengaged. No smiles, no greetings such as "Welcome," "Goodbye," "Have a nice day," or "Thank you." Even after check-out, there were no words of appreciation or farewell. The lack of interaction was disheartening.

    It was a stylish Hotel.

    I chose this accommodation because it was reasonably priced and easily accessible from the station. To put it simply, my overall impression is that it was neither particularly good nor bad. Both the lobby and the room were beautifully renovated, creating a very clean atmosphere. I heard that it used to be a student dormitory. Additionally, even though I arrived late at night, the staff kindly and thoroughly explained everything, leaving me with a positive impression. On the downside, there were some concerns such as dust or mold in areas like plumbing fixtures, air conditioning units, and dryers. There were also hairs left in the room, which gave me an impression that cleaning might not have been thorough enough. Furthermore, since it uses a key lock rather than an auto-lock system, I had some concerns about security. Although it's just a straight walk from the station to get there, the area becomes very dark with few people around at night; therefore, caution is advised when walking alone after dark.

    Quiet Room, Excellent Hospitality

    The air conditioning in the Room was initially not working well, but it was promptly addressed. Thank you for assisting us without any hesitation, even late at night. It was my first time staying at a Hotel outside the city center, but I had no trouble sleeping in a quiet Room (though hallway noise could be heard slightly, I was lucky not to have noisy neighbors). While transportation options are limited, the Room was clean and reasonably priced. Thank you!

    Breakfast is excellent.

    Located slightly south of the station, it offers a quiet and relaxing stay. The spacious layout, including the gallery on the first floor, and the customizable bath salts were delightful. The Room was minimal but provided excellent value for money. Breakfast exceeded expectations based on Reviews! Next time, I’d like to try the rental bicycle service.

    I will use your service again!

    I had reserved a small room, but they kindly upgraded me to a larger room as it was available! The amenities included bath salts that you could make yourself with aroma oils, and they even lent me a bath set for visiting the nearby public bath. At the bar, I enjoyed draft beer from Kyoto Brewing Company—such excellent service and hospitality! The breakfast smoothies and sandwiches were also delicious. I will definitely visit again! Thank you so much!!

    The best Hotel ever

    I have visited Kyoto several times and stayed at different accommodations each time, but this is by far the best. The breakfast, as mentioned in reviews, is meticulously prepared and delicious no matter what you choose. The room has a high ceiling that gives a sense of openness, and the bathroom is more spacious than expected. Some reviews mention heavy doors, but I found them to be normal. The location is convenient with Kujo Station nearby and Kyoto Station about a 15-minute walk away, which was not an issue for me. Overall, this hotel offers an exceptional experience in many ways. I plan to visit Kyoto again during Obon this year and look forward to staying here again—thank you, Anteroom!

    Spacious and comfortable

    The lobby and shared relaxation spaces are spacious, with plenty of sofas and tables, so you won't feel confined to your room. The Room itself is also comfortable, even for a single, and designed efficiently. Although there is no large public bath on-site, there is a nearby sento (public bath) where you can enjoy a nostalgic Showa-era atmosphere. It keeps your face and body warm without cooling down afterward. Since there's no attendant sitting at the counter, you can relax without feeling watched. The friendly "Ookini" greeting from the Kyoto-style attendant added to the charm. (Note: The sento is closed on Thursdays and operates from 1 PM to 9 PM.) There are many Time parking lots right in front or around the area with maximum rate settings, making it convenient for those traveling by car. The text on the provided alarm clock was too small to read, but when I asked for help at the front desk, they kindly set up a morning call for me instead. All staff members were very pleasant and helpful throughout my stay. If you're visiting Kyoto—this is the place to stay!

    Instagram-worthy breakfast

    This is a designer Hotel I have been using for a long time. When I visited after a while, they had introduced a new service where you can create your own scented bath salts. The Room is very simple, and the toilet and bath feel slightly outdated as expected. Breakfast remains as delicious as ever and is also photogenic.

    The room was very cold with drafts coming in, taking a long time to warm up. Additionally, there was a large stain on the sofa, making it unusable, which was disappointing. As rumored, the breakfast was stylish and delicious. The bath salts were also excellent.

    The Hotel was good, but there was an issue on the IKYU side.

    Stayed for two nights in mid-March. The Room itself was fine, but the Facility felt outdated compared to its exterior (though it is well-maintained). Younger guests might find this a bit surprising. It had been a while since I stayed at a Hotel that used traditional keys. According to the access page on IKYU.com, it states 15 minutes from Hachijo East Exit, but it actually feels farther—20 minutes seems more accurate. Additionally, when clicking the address provided in the email from IKYU on an iPhone to open maps, it leads you to a back street slightly past the Hotel, leaving you wondering "Where am I?" It's better to follow the directions in the email text rather than relying on maps.

    Stylish accommodation with a great sense of design. While it has an older charm, the cleanliness is well-maintained, making it comfortable. The staff are friendly and accommodating, and having a desk in the room suitable for work was very helpful. On the downside, the single room I stayed in had too few power outlets (only one usable outlet could be found unless unplugging items like the TV). It was inconvenient not being able to use a hairdryer or curling iron at the sink. Those with multiple gadgets to charge might need an extension cord. Additionally, as access to guestroom areas is not restricted by card keys, security could be a concern since non-guests can enter these areas. This might be challenging to address due to renovation constraints. That said, considering the price point, it was overall a good experience!

    Calm and relaxing atmosphere

    The modern and stylish architecture, reminiscent of overseas destinations, was truly captivating. Above all, the variety of breakfast options and the attentiveness of the staff at the restaurant were very much appreciated. Inside the Hotel, it felt like an art gallery, and I found a favorite piece; however, it was disappointing that my inquiry about it wasn't followed up on. Perhaps there were difficulties in contacting the artist, but a follow-up would have been greatly appreciated. Still, it was such an attractive Hotel that I would love to visit again. For guests visiting from abroad, they might especially enjoy being surrounded by its calm and serene atmosphere.

    The hotel offers a comfortable space with an artistic touch in every corner of the first-floor common area. Rooms are clean and equipped with heating and air conditioning. The front desk staff and housekeeping team are friendly and polite. It is a 5-7 minute walk from Exit 4 (with an elevator) of Kujo Station or Jujo Station on the subway. Located in a residential area, the surroundings are relatively quiet with few shops or traffic. There is a convenience store across the street, so it is recommended to purchase food before returning to the hotel. The streets have lighting but can be quiet at night, so it’s advisable to walk together if returning late. The hotel's bar operates from Wednesday onwards. Guests who reserve breakfast by the previous evening can enjoy it at a discounted price of 500 yen. Overall, this is a highly recommended place to stay!

    Cozy and delicious breakfast!

    This is my second stay at this accommodation. The 30-square-meter room is spacious with high ceilings, stylish furniture, a sofa, and a large table, allowing for a comfortable and home-like experience. I also love the delicious breakfast made with care, focusing on vegetables! The floor staff are friendly and attentive, making mornings truly pleasant. It's wonderful!     Originally a student dormitory, both staff and guests are mostly young people. The Room is spacious, but the walking space is narrow, so be careful not to bump your feet. The cypress bath is oval-shaped, so it might feel a bit cramped. Breakfast is delicious, so you might end up eating too much.

    The first time I stayed was 9-10 years ago? When my daughter was commuting to Kyoto for her art university entrance exams, we used it several times, and since then, it has been a candidate for our trips to Kyoto. I've always liked the delicious vegetable breakfast and the well-designed interior. The front desk and kitchen staff are kind and make for a pleasant stay. This time, I used it for a solo trip and stayed in an older type of Room, but it was simple, well-cleaned, and comfortable. Although it was a unit bath, the shower water pressure was almost too good, and the bath filled up quickly. Various exhibitions are held from time to time, which is also one of the things I look forward to.

    I stayed on a date close to my previous visit, but this time I had a few concerns. There were some areas, such as the floor of the Room and other spots, where the cleaning was not thorough, but I appreciated that it was promptly and properly addressed. However, this time, there were changes being made to the hallway exhibits, and after 5 PM, the sound of hammering suddenly started in the hallway. The sound of hammering echoed throughout the first-floor hallway. I wondered why this was happening at such a time when I wanted to spend a quiet and relaxing evening. During breakfast, there was also loud chatting from a young woman in the kitchen at the back. The chatting continued for a while and was quite audible in the breakfast area. The other guests staying here were quieter in comparison. Other than that, everything was as good as always.

    It's a bit far, but it has a great taste.

    Although located along Karasuma Street, the location is slightly inconvenient as it is on the south side of Kyoto Station. It takes about 20 minutes on foot from Kyoto Station, which might be tough if you have a lot of luggage. If you take the subway, get off at Kujo Station on the Karasuma Line, or if you take the city bus, get off at the Kujo Station stop on Route 207. From there, it's a little over a 10-minute walk south. If location is your priority, hotels around Kyoto Station or Kawaramachi are definitely more advantageous. However, if you're looking for hip interior design and tranquility, this Hotel is excellent. With its chic indirect lighting and playful decor, it has a stylish vibe reminiscent of a European boutique hotel. At the amenity corner set up at the front desk, you can even create your own custom bath salts, which is quite enjoyable. There are eight types of essential oils available, all from the "Tree of Life" brand. To get to the center of Kyoto, you can take the city bus Route 207 (flat fare of 230 yen), which provides direct access without transfers to places like Tofukuji Temple, Sanjusangendo, Kiyomizu Temple, Gion, and Shijo Kawaramachi-Karasuma. There aren't many dining options around the Hotel, but there's a Lawson convenience store across Karasuma Street, which is handy for small purchases. (If you extend your trip to Kyoto Station, you'll find a variety of stores like Don Quijote, Lopia, and Seijo Ishii.) I didn't try it myself, but I've heard the breakfast buffet is very delicious. Oh, and the female staff at the front desk was a thoughtful and beautiful person.

    Favorite Hotel

    This is my fourth time, but since I use a different Room each time, I can always enjoy it with a fresh feeling. The environment is very quiet, so it's great to really relax. There are many cute miscellaneous goods, and it's fun just to look at them. I really like the breakfast because it's delicious. All the staff are pleasant, and I was able to spend my time comfortably from start to finish. Thank you. I will use it again.

    The breakfast was delicious, but...

    I always stay here looking forward to the breakfast. It was full of vegetables and mushrooms, and the sandwiches were delicious and met my expectations. I was able to stay reasonably due to the season, but the room on the second floor where I stayed had a terrible odor from the drain. It was good that closing the bathroom door kept the smell out. The simple room allowed me to sleep soundly, so the odor this time was very disappointing.
