We had a relaxing stay!
Over the course of a month, I traveled through about 14 prefectures in total, including Taiwan, and finished with Shichiken in Yamanashi. They picked me up at Kobuchizawa Station in an Alphard, and we started with a tour of the water sources—enjoying coffee by the basin of a spring-fed waterfall—followed by a brewery tour and tasting, and then on to the inn. I’d heard great things, but the setting was truly wonderful. Japan’s traditional culture is so calming. Dinner was a luxury: a private counter room where a dedicated chef prepared everything right in front of me—of course paired with Shichiken sake. They also kindly set breakfast for a relaxed 9:00 start, and I was able to take it easy until departure. The breakfast portion was a bit too much for me (haha). I’ll definitely be back!

Enjoy exquisite dining and drinks in a refined, tranquil setting.
I’ve always loved Shichiken sake, and over the past 10 years I’ve visited the brewery several times. Since it opened, I’d been curious about esoto, so I finally stayed here! It was a wonderfully comfortable stay where I could slow down and truly feel the spirit of Hokuto. What left the strongest impression was the food, as well as the sweets and drinks provided in the room. Ingredients and beverages—mainly from Daigahara and Hokuto—were carefully selected, allowing me to enjoy a refined experience while appreciating the blessings of the region. ●Room & Amenities The calm atmosphere made it easy to relax. Inspired by a historical “Anzaisho” on the brewery grounds, everything—from the three-room layout to the garden—was beautifully designed. It was rainy during my stay, but that only added to the charm of viewing the garden through the window. ●Service The staff maintained a comfortable distance—never intrusive—so I could enjoy my time at my own pace. They kindly assisted with transportation, guidance around nearby spots including Anzaisho, meal timing, and more. ●Onsen / Bath The bath inside an earthen storehouse had an exceptionally refined design. There were even ice pops and sparkling sake “Yama no Kasumi,” but after dinner I was too full (and had enjoyed plenty of sake), so I didn’t get to try them. ●Dining Dining was easily the highlight of this stay. Local ingredients were used with great care, and every dish was delicious. The venison in particular had almost no gamey flavor—honestly one of best venison dishes I’ve ever had—yet it still delivered deep umami. Not only that—the Shichiken sake paired with each course was outstanding as well. Being able to properly enjoy cuisine unique to this area while savoring local ingredients and sake felt like something special to this property. If you choose accommodations with dining as one of your main purposes for traveling, this is a place I would absolutely recommend trying. In the morning, I woke up to local voices chatting outside—it felt like spending time living within Daigahara-juku itself. When I want to immerse myself in regional food and drink and nature—and truly refresh—I would love to return.

A Luxurious Retreat
We stayed here as a couple. Even though it’s for only one party, the Accommodation offers not only three Japanese-style rooms but also a pleasant bedroom upstairs—truly luxurious. In the storehouse at the back, there is a spacious, spotless bath available 24 hours a day. Sake glasses are also provided. You can enjoy delicious coffee freshly ground from whole beans. Best of all was the dining. The kaiseki meal served at a counter reserved just for our party was unbelievably delicious. Since I don’t drink alcohol, I chose a non-alcohol pairing. For dessert, we stepped out onto the veranda and relaxed completely—looking out over the garden with soft chill music playing via Bluetooth. It was a wonderful Accommodation that made us realize what true luxury—doing nothing—really means.

A Harmony of Tradition and Modernity
Four close friends and I stayed here. No watch, no smartphone needed. We were able to spend time where nature—and our own senses—set the pace. The historic building has been thoughtfully renewed with a modern touch, and the interior reflects beautiful taste throughout. Traditional elements unique to Japanese homes, such as sliding doors (fusuma) and transoms (ranma), have been carefully preserved, creating a natural harmony between tradition and modern design. What stayed with me most was the Japanese garden and the engawa veranda overlooking it. Sitting on the engawa and gazing out at the garden, I lost track of time and felt as if I had become part of the scenery. The bath is housed in a renovated kura storehouse, with high ceilings that create an elegant, open atmosphere. Soaking in the tub while enjoying the Japanese garden as borrowed scenery was truly exceptional. Completely removed from everyday life, we could forget everything and relax from the heart. Meals are served at a luxurious counter. The Japanese cuisine features plenty of local ingredients, each dish prepared with great care; both quality and portion size were deeply satisfying. This Accommodation is especially recommended for anyone seeking ultimate relaxation, looking to treat themselves to something special, or wanting an extraordinary escape from daily life.
