  Vacation Home Feel

  We had a wonderful time staying in this spacious cottage with three generations of our family. In particular, the in-room bath and open-air bath were very relaxing. The view overlooking Lake Ashi was also great. Next time, we would like to stay for a longer period.

  Pet-Friendly Onsen Cottage

  When we checked in, we got caught in a sudden downpour and weren’t sure how to walk from the parking lot to the cottage, but the staff kindly drove us there in an electric cart. Everyone was very friendly. The cottage entrance had a lovely atmosphere, and inside it felt like a private villa with high ceilings. Our dog seemed to love it too and was able to relax right away. Above all, the bath was amazing. The indoor bath smelled of hinoki cypress and sulfur, and the open-air bath was wonderful with the fresh outdoor air. The water temperature is on the hot side; you can add tap water and mix it before getting in. The view of Lake Ashi from inside, the green mountains, the stars and moon at night—everything was fantastic. What disappointed us was finding some insects inside and a yellow stain on the carpet under the table—perhaps from a pet? We would appreciate it if it could be cleaned. It would have been even better if there were a toilet off either the living room or near the bathroom. We’d love to visit again.

Although we unfortunately experienced a sudden heavy downpour that day, we were truly delighted to read your kind words about our staff.   A relaxing Accommodation where you can unwind

  We stayed with our large dog and family of four. The Accommodation was wonderful, with high ceilings and stunning views. There was an open-air bath and an indoor bath, and I was able to spend time talking with my two sons, making it a relaxing weekend. There was no TV, so the four of us and our dog could really talk about all sorts of things, which made us very happy. It was also great that the appliances and tableware were all top-quality. We would love to stay again. Thank you very much.

  With your dog and children

  I stayed one night with my small dog, son, and wife. The Room was spacious, and best of all, there were two Onsens in the Room—so relaxing. There was also an outdoor garden dog run, and watching our dog happily run around while taking in the magnificent scenery and nature of Lake Ashi was even more soothing. Next time, I think it would be great to bring our own ingredients and enjoy a cozy stay-in getaway.

  Too bright.

  I was woken up around 4 or 5 a.m. because the morning sun came in very strongly. When we arrived, the weather wasn’t great, so I didn’t think much of it with just the shoji screens and went to sleep. Maybe it was my fault for not noticing, but I only realized there was a roll-up blind behind the shoji when we were checking out. I planned to use the Onsen in the morning, but it seemed like the hot spring water stops at night, and it had become very lukewarm. The outdoor Onsen was still running, so I managed to warm up there. It’s a dog-friendly Room, and it said items like a playpen/crate and pet sheets were provided, but I couldn’t find them anywhere—maybe I should have gone to the front desk? I brought everything just in case, so it wasn’t an issue. The fridge was well stocked with Hakone beer and plenty of water, which was very helpful. However, various insects come inside, so it would be nice if they at least provided insect spray. Not recommended for anyone who dislikes bugs.

We sincerely apologize that the information about the Room equipment and amenities was unclear and caused you inconvenience. We are also sorry that the roll-up blind was not adequately indicated or explained, resulting in you waking early due to sunlight and not being able to rest comfortably. We also regret that we did not confirm the pet amenities thoroughly in advance. Regarding the Onsen, there are times at night when the supply from the source becomes unstable, and the water temperature may not rise sufficiently. This is not always the case; however, it appears it coincided with your time of use on this occasion. We apologize for not meeting your expectations when you were looking forward to enjoying the Onsen. We also apologize for any discomfort caused by insects. As we are located in a nature-rich environment, insects may enter depending on the season and weather conditions. Insect spray is available to borrow at the front desk, so please feel free to ask if you stay with us again. Meanwhile, we are glad to hear you enjoyed the drinks in the refrigerator. We will use your feedback to help improve our services going forward. Thank you again for staying with us.

  Thank you for your help.

  All of the staff were truly wonderful, and we were shown to a newly renovated Room on the day, which deeply impressed us. We sincerely appreciate your warm hospitality. However, with hopes for future improvement, I would like to mention a few things that inevitably concerned us during our stay. I am very sorry to say this, but there were about 50 fruit flies in the Room, and they were even coming out from inside the refrigerator where we had stored food. We ended up spending time getting rid of them with our children, and it was a bit disappointing to have to struggle with that during what should have been an enjoyable trip. Also, the smell of the meat served at dinner was quite strong and bothered us somewhat. In addition, it seemed that the rice cooker had been set for morning instead of dinner time; by the time we noticed it was already dinner time, so we had to switch to quick-cook at short notice. Because the staff’s service was excellent, it pains me greatly to write these things. I reduced my rating slightly as a result, but I would be grateful if you could make improvements. The renovated Room features free-flowing natural hot spring water; both the indoor and outdoor baths were spacious. We used them at night and in the morning—they felt wonderful and made all our everyday fatigue melt away. Thank you very much for everything.
