Stay in a Traditional Japanese House (No Meals Included) with an Irori BBQ and an Open-Air Bath
My schedule suddenly opened up, so I stayed at this Accommodation. I was told we could use the irori hearth, so we picked up ingredients at Himawari Market in Hokuto City and enjoyed a BBQ (oil, salt, and pepper were provided). Although it was February and quite cold, the temperature of the open-air bath was perfect—I could have stayed in forever. On top of that, there’s an ice cream corner in the changing room, which is great for cooling down. I was a little surprised there was no TV, but they have an excellent selection of analog records, so I relaxed and enjoyed some nostalgic music. There’s also a karaoke room renovated from a kura storehouse—one night wasn’t nearly enough. What impressed me most was the starry sky. I was amazed to see such a beautiful sky so close to the Kanto area. There are many Accommodations renovated from old houses, but this one is the real thing—you can truly feel its history. At the same time, essentials like plumbing and heating are properly maintained, so it’s very comfortable. It was a truly wonderful Accommodation. The staff were also excellent, and next time I’d love to visit with a meal-included Plan.

Even in the cold February season, we are glad you were able to relax with the perfect bath temperature and some ice cream after your soak. We are also honored that you were moved by our starry sky. On clear nights, you can enjoy a breathtaking canopy of stars that feels far beyond what you would expect so close to the Kanto area. While there is no TV here, it means a great deal to us that you enjoyed the sound of analog records and the calm atmosphere unique to a traditional Japanese house—and especially that you described it as an “authentic kominka.” Our team is truly encouraged by your words. While cherishing the character of this old house, we have also ensured modern comfort with well-equipped water facilities and heating. Thank you as well for your kind words about our staff.
