  A Hotel with a Strong, Unpleasant Odor

  It felt like an old apartment building was minimally refurbished and turned into a Vacation Rental, with two beds squeezed side by side into a small Room meant for single occupancy. A basic reception area, an odor lingering even before entering the assigned Room, and an overwhelming sewage smell the moment I stepped inside... I have used IKYU for many years, but this was by far the worst Accommodation I have ever stayed at, and I was shocked that a place at this level is listed on IKYU. Normally I would contact the front desk, but I gave up because I assumed it would be pointless to speak with a foreign part-time staff member who could only communicate in broken Japanese. Instead, I bought deodorizing spray at a nearby drugstore and stayed while repeatedly spraying it. The Room was not as clean as it looked in the photos, and even during the Obon holiday period, it was not worth staying there at that price. I was truly disappointed.

We are truly sorry that, despite your stay with us, you experienced discomfort due to odors and the cleaning condition of your Room. In particular, we deeply apologize for the odor present even before entering the Room and the strong sewage smell during your stay, which caused you distress and even led you to purchase deodorizing spray yourself. We also take seriously that our service may have made you hesitate to consult our staff. We will share your comments with all staff members, thoroughly review our guest room cleaning and inspection procedures, and work to ensure this does not happen again. Once again, we sincerely apologize that we were unable to provide a stay that met your expectations.

  Lando Hotel Fukuoka

  I stayed in early October. It felt more like renting a one-room apartment than staying at a Hotel. The mini kitchen and two-door refrigerator were very convenient, and having a washing machine and bathroom dryer allowed me to do laundry and reduce my luggage.
