  The bed was too soft, and the sheets were not changed.

  The bed springs were worn out and saggy, and sleeping on it gave me back pain. Since it was a 3-night Multiple Night Stay, it was very tough. I also wanted the sheets changed during my stay, but the front desk told me, “We don’t offer a sheet-changing service. Please do it yourself.” Even though one night cost 25,000 yen, not having sheet changes was quite disappointing. However, bath towels and other towels were replaced every day. Also, having a washing machine in the Room was helpful for a long stay, although there was no dryer.

  A Hotel with a Strong, Unpleasant Odor

  It felt like an old apartment building was minimally refurbished and turned into a Vacation Rental, with two beds squeezed side by side into a small Room meant for single occupancy. A basic reception area, an odor lingering even before entering the assigned Room, and an overwhelming sewage smell the moment I stepped inside... I have used IKYU for many years, but this was by far the worst Accommodation I have ever stayed at, and I was shocked that a place at this level is listed on IKYU. Normally I would contact the front desk, but I gave up because I assumed it would be pointless to speak with a foreign part-time staff member who could only communicate in broken Japanese. Instead, I bought deodorizing spray at a nearby drugstore and stayed while repeatedly spraying it. The Room was not as clean as it looked in the photos, and even during the Obon holiday period, it was not worth staying there at that price. I was truly disappointed.

  Lando Hotel Fukuoka

  I stayed in early October. It felt more like renting a one-room apartment than staying at a Hotel. The mini kitchen and two-door refrigerator were very convenient, and having a washing machine and bathroom dryer allowed me to do laundry and reduce my luggage.
