    It was a good Hotel.

Having 24-hour access to the open-air bath on the balcony was greatly appreciated, and the large public bath at the neighboring affiliated Ryokan also had a wonderful open-air bath.\nThe sashimi and steak were delicious, but some of the other dishes were a bit underwhelming—maybe it was just my taste. Some items were great, while others were average; it may simply come down to personal preference.\nOverall, it’s a very nice Hotel, and the stars were beautiful—you could even see the Milky Way.\nHighly recommended.

    Solo travel

The open-air bath in the Room was wonderful. Listening to music and soaking slowly in the morning while gazing at the sea was the best. Dinner was a course meal, and breakfast was Japanese-style. Everything was delicious and very filling. Perfect for a solo trip—I had a relaxing stay.

It was the best trip ever.

I travel to Ise-Shima at least once a year. Each time, I look for an Accommodation with a private open-air Onsen bath in the Room. This stay at Haifu was truly wonderful—one of the best I’ve experienced. This time, we stayed in a special suite. First of all, taking a boat to reach the Accommodation really heightened the sense of being on a trip, and I couldn’t stop feeling excited. The Accommodation was beautiful and kept very clean, and the staff were excellent. The Room had an open-air bath with an ocean view. There is also frosted sliding glass that can be used as a privacy screen from outside. Soaking in the Onsen while watching the full moon and stars and listening to the sound of the sea was incredible. We were also able to enjoy our meals slowly in a private dining room. Both the taste and presentation were top-class. Haifu is an Accommodation you’ll definitely want to return to. I hope to stay again soon, and I look forward to visiting again then.

    Wedding Anniversary

Since this was a trip for our wedding anniversary, we wanted a quiet place where we could relax, so we chose Haifu. I didn’t tell my wife where we were staying, and she was surprised when we had to transfer from the car to a boat to get to the Accommodation. Everything was very satisfying, and the staff’s hospitality in particular was excellent, so we were able to spend our time feeling completely at ease.

I stayed here while visiting my hometown.

I usually return home just for the day, but this time I decided to take it easy and stayed overnight. I truly love the relaxed pace of life on this island where I was born and raised—it’s a place where I can refresh and unwind from everyday stress. When I mentioned that I used to live here, the owner kindly came to greet me in person, which surprised me. It made me very happy. The Facility was also kept very clean, and I was able to spend a comfortable day. The food was delicious as well, and I was very satisfied. I look forward to staying again when I come back home.

An Accommodation where you can unwind with delicious cuisine and a relaxing stay

We stayed here on our way back from walking the Kumano Kodo. After a short boat ride of just a few minutes from the pier, we arrived earlier than planned, but were warmly welcomed with herbal tea and sweets. The garden open-air Onsen had multiple baths, and our Room also had an open-air bath, allowing us to fully enjoy the Onsen while gazing at the sea and feeling the ocean breeze. The cuisine was a creative kaiseki course featuring seasonal local ingredients—beautifully presented, with textures and flavors that felt as though they gently soaked in from tongue to stomach and throughout the body. We were able to relax over both dinner and breakfast while looking out at the ocean. After completing the Kumano Kodo, we enjoyed another extraordinary escape from everyday life. We are grateful for the warm hospitality of all the staff members.

    Surroundings of the Hotel

It was very disappointing that, despite being such a relaxing resort destination, the surrounding Hotels had closed down. I hope the island will be featured more in magazines and on TV so that the whole area can regain its energy.

    Relax

Just getting there by boat already makes the trip feel even more special. All of the staff provided very courteous service, and heaters were placed in many spots along the walkway to the garden open-air bath so guests wouldn’t get cold. Their guest-first hospitality truly made us happy. The building itself may be old, but it has been beautifully renovated and was very comfortable to stay in. We were able to relax deeply—thank you very much.

Soaking in the in-room open-air bath while enjoying the morning sun and gazing out at the ocean was wonderful. The sashimi at dinner was very fresh and delicious.

    A Peaceful Day

Taking a boat to the island reminded me of Vinpearl Island in Nha Trang, Vietnam. There was an attendant at the parking lot, and they also arranged the boat for us. It takes about 5 minutes on foot from the parking lot to the pier, about a 5-minute wait for the boat, and about a 5-minute ride. I didn’t feel seasick at all. After arriving at the Accommodation, we were welcomed with a welcome drink, followed by a luxurious dinner featuring spiny lobster and beef, and breakfast with spiny lobster miso soup. The Room was quiet with two beds, an open-air bath in the Room, a large TV, and of course a washlet toilet. The open-air bath was spacious enough for two people to relax comfortably; the washing area was right beside it. With late-April warmth that day, we were able to warm up nicely. It was truly a luxurious Accommodation.

    The Worst 60th Birthday Celebration

Because my partner made the Reservation for my 60th birthday, they had planned a surprise. However, the red celebratory vest (chanchanko) for a 60th birthday was not prepared. It was especially disappointing because this was suggested by the Ryokan as part of the celebration. I understand that mistakes can happen, but what troubled me most was the complete lack of appropriate follow-up from the Ryokan. After dinner, I informed a staff member in the dining hall and asked them to report it to their supervisor. Even after waiting an hour, there was no call from anyone in charge. When I contacted them myself, I received a return call from the manager with only an apology over the phone—no one came to our Room to apologize in person. The next morning at checkout, I expected an apology and did receive one, but they handed me something while forcing an awkward smile (I do not understand why they were smiling). As a result, our special celebration was ruined, and I am extremely disappointed. I normally do not write Reviews, but as someone who runs a business myself, I seriously question whether this is acceptable service. I am posting this so that the Ryokan will reflect more deeply on what hospitality means—and so that future guests do not have to feel what we felt. It would be unfortunate if management continued in a way that dishonors such an admirable founder. Also, most of the other employees were friendly and greeted us with genuine smiles; I felt sorry for them as well.

The tranquil bay view is breathtaking as you soak in the terrace Onsen.

Because the Hotel is located on an island, you take a boat for about five minutes, which felt wonderfully out of the ordinary and really lifted our spirits. The parking lot at the pier is clean and spacious, so we felt at ease. Our Room had an Onsen bath on the terrace, which was perfect for us as Onsen lovers—we could soak as many times as we liked at any time, and the view right in front of us was truly amazing: a calm sea and boats coming and going. The large public bath in the main building is connected indoors, so it’s easy to access, and the open-air bath was also very relaxing. On the day of our stay, you addressed a point we hoped would be improved; since this is a wonderful Accommodation in a one-of-a-kind location, we would love to stay again and hope it will be improved by then.

This is our second stay at this accommodation. The private bath on the terrace is incredibly relaxing and absolutely wonderful. The meals were delicious, and we appreciate the effort to accommodate my wife's food preferences. Dining while enjoying the ocean view was truly satisfying for both our stomachs and hearts. For breakfast, although it couldn't be helped due to the blinds blocking the bright morning sun, it would have been perfect if we could enjoy the meal with a view of the sea. Additionally, it's a bit unfortunate that the surroundings of the ryokan feel slightly desolate, though it does add a certain charm. Regardless, this remains one of our favorite accommodations that we would love to visit again!

Stayed one night as a couple.

It is a bit inconvenient to walk from the parking lot to the boat. However, the Room, bath, meals, and service were all very satisfying. If I had to point out something, it would be that the refrigerator in the Room was not very effective and using paper cups for ice from the ice machine was a bit disappointing. Other than that, everything was great. When leaving by boat, the staff waved until we could no longer see them, which made us feel very warm inside. The meals are slightly more expensive, but I highly recommend trying the Ise lobster sashimi. It had no unpleasant smell and was incredibly delicious with a good portion size as well. You can enjoy your meal while looking at the ocean and also enjoy beautiful ocean views from the bath. I definitely want to visit again!

    The amenity style re...

The amenity style requires guests to bring necessary items to the Room themselves, which felt similar to a Business Hotel and slightly lowered my evaluation. Many staff members were foreigners, and some had difficulty understanding Japanese, making it challenging for them to explain Japanese cuisine. This time I traveled alone, but the restaurant provided excellent privacy with partitions on three sides except for the window. The open-air bath in the Room and other baths were enjoyable multiple times, allowing me to relax thoroughly. Thank you very much.
