    The front desk servi...

    The front desk service was average. A tall male staff member spoke so quietly that I couldn’t hear any of the explanations. The food selection was extensive and very delicious. However, with children, the 90-minute limit felt tight. We couldn’t really relax. The room was smaller than expected. While the meals were the highlight, it didn’t feel worth traveling all the way there just for the food.

    Nothing!

    There are no amenities. The toilet has noticeable mold and gives a dirty impression. However, it was the first time in a while that I stayed at a Hotel with nothing provided.

    Due to a lack of coordination among staff, housekeeping came in while I was sleeping.

    When making my Reservation, I wrote, “If possible, I’d appreciate a quiet Room,” and I was happy that you assigned me a Room near the end of the top floor. However, at check-in I was asked whether I wanted cleaning on the second day, and although I replied, “No, please just hang fresh towels on the door,” someone repeatedly knocked on my door while I was asleep. When I didn’t respond because I was groggy, they forcibly unlocked the door with a master key. It was extremely unpleasant to think they might have entered my Room if the door guard hadn’t been in place. Also, when paying for meals, I was asked whether I had the app. If there is a discount available, I wish you had told me then—I could have downloaded it on the spot. I also noticed peeling wallpaper in the Room; it seems like something that could be fixed with adhesive at minimal cost. If more attention were given to details like this, the stay would feel much more comfortable. I would like to visit again in summer if possible, so I hope for improvements going forward.

    Onsen is excellent.

    It was my first time visiting Oku-Nikko. I took the bus, but it was quite far from Nikko Station. The view of Lake Yunoko in front of the Hotel was nice, but since my Room was on the second floor, the view wasn't great. The milky white hot spring water and outdoor bath were satisfying. Dinner was a typical buffet; however, the sashimi tuna had an unpleasant smell and should not have been served if it couldn't meet quality standards. The sushi was disappointing as well—I regretted taking it. If it's placed prominently as a main dish near the entrance, its quality should be improved. The pickled vegetables were much tastier in comparison. Dishes at the counter in the back were delicious though. Breakfast offered a variety of options which I appreciated; since I didn't have much appetite, having cereal available really helped me out. The Room was a standard-sized Japanese-style room and sufficient for my needs, but noise from hallways and upstairs echoed significantly at night, making it impossible to sleep without relying on medication—this aspect was disappointing. That said, considering its reasonable price within Oku-Nikko's offerings, I would still consider this Hotel as an option for future stays.

    I trusted the accomm...

    I trusted the accommodations introduced by IKYU, but the buffet was terrible! There were no unique dishes, and the limited variety was disappointing and shocking. Since I am picky with food, I usually choose accommodations with buffet dinners so I can enjoy a variety of dishes to my heart's content. However, here, there were very few dishes I wanted to eat—truly disappointing! The only positive point was that the Onsen was excellent!!

    Onsen is excellent.

    I stayed for one night and two days. Due to the impact of a sudden downpour, the lobby was crowded during check-in. The room had no shower, and the space was almost entirely occupied by two beds. The refrigerator was unpleasant due to either mold or stains from spilled drinks left by previous guests, indicating insufficient cleaning. At night, loud shouting and music played on speakers by a group of students at the nearby Lake Yuno could be heard in the room, making it difficult to relax. It seems neither Kamenoi Hotel nor nearby facilities address such disturbances. I expected a quiet stay but found it very stressful instead. The buffet area was narrow and challenging when crowded. However, the Onsen was excellent. Unfortunately, I would not consider returning again.

    The breakfast buffet offers a wide variety of options, so delicious that I ended up skipping lunch. I'll definitely visit again!

    Sightseeing

    There are many attractions nearby, such as Nikko Toshogu Shrine, Kegon Falls, Ryuzu Falls, Yudaki Falls, and Senjogahara. The Onsen close to these spots was very convenient and the cloudy hot spring water was truly delightful.

    We experienced a lon...

    We experienced a long wait at the reception. The meal we were looking forward to did not suit my taste. It was quite disappointing, especially since the bath was excellent.

    A Wonderful Surprise

    When we mentioned in the Reservation that we were visiting to celebrate an anniversary, we were delighted to receive a surprise dessert plate during the latter part of dinner. It was truly touching. After a tiring day of mountain climbing, we felt rejuvenated by the warm hospitality, delicious meals, natural flowing Onsen, and a quiet Room with a stunning view. The value for money was exceptional and almost felt too good to be true. Thank you for making it such a memorable day!

    The proximity to the lakeside was delightful.

    We arrived at the Hotel earlier than planned, but we were grateful to be guided to our Room slightly ahead of schedule. Additionally, the lakeside was easily accessible, allowing us to enjoy watching people fishing in the evening or listening to the gentle flow of a river into the lake, creating a serene and relaxing atmosphere. The dinner buffet offered a wide variety of dishes, so each family member could enjoy their favorite foods.

    Relaxed by the scenery

    Located at a high altitude, the Hotel offers great views from the Room, with clouds feeling close and soothing as they drift by. I stayed during Golden Week, but I imagine the starry sky would be beautiful in summer. The Room, bath, and meals were average.

    The view from the Room was great.

    I stayed for 4 nights during Golden Week. The restaurant had long lines, and there were no available lockers in the bathhouse changing room, so it felt a bit crowded. However, since there were relatively few foreign guests, I thought it might be a hidden gem. The meals were buffet-style, but the menu was the same every day, so it got a bit repetitive during a Multiple Night Stay. Still, considering the price and service provided, I found it very reasonable.

    Good Stays

    Based on advice from a relative who loves sulfur springs, I chose this area because they recommended Oku-Nikko. The Onsen was truly wonderful, and the sulfur smell especially enhanced the Onsen experience. The indoor bath was on the hotter side, while the open-air bath was more lukewarm. The meals were buffet-style, and since there were many families with children, I honestly didn't have high expectations for the food, but unexpectedly, there were many adult-oriented dishes that were delicious. I would like to visit again if I have the opportunity.

    Snowy Onsen

    I was able to relax while enjoying the snowy view in the white hot spring. The meals were served in a buffet-style venue, and while they were filling, there were no simple menu options like udon or ramen for children.

    The Onsen was great.

    It was nice to have a paid wine server in the Onsen and lobby, where you can enjoy several types of wine and sake. The road to the parking lot is bumpy and most of the parking area is unpaved, with puddles and holes. The drinking water in the guest room is only tap water. There is no shower in the room. The floor on the balcony side is peeling in places, and something that looks like feathers has fallen there, which I thought might be bird droppings. Other than that, it was neither good nor bad, and it matched the price.
