It was a great accommodation.
I traveled solo by train. I took the bus from Gotemba Premium Outlets to Mishima Station (almost direct, with only two stops). From Mishima, it was about a 20-minute ride on a local train, and then about a 10-minute walk from the station—very convenient access. I stayed in a clean 6th-floor Room with an open-air bath. It was actually a semi-open-air bath on the terrace, but for me it was even better because it wasn’t affected by the weather. Regardless of an Accommodation’s grade, I usually don’t find Ryokan dinners very appealing, so I typically choose breakfast-only or No Meals Included. This time, however, I booked a Plan with two meals included. Having a private dining room was perfect for solo travel, and everything was delicious. The steamed rice was especially good—I ate more than usual. The property has been renovated; there were some nostalgic touches here and there, but the plumbing areas were also clean and well maintained. For the Onsen in my Room, I wanted to avoid adding water as much as possible, so I filled the tub and let it sit for a while before getting in. During that time, I went to enjoy the private open-air bath. The Onsen is mild with no strong quirks—those who love an intense sulfur smell might find it lacking—but it’s great for soaking multiple times. I would definitely like to stay again.

We stayed here on our way back from the Gotemba Premium Outlets. Our Room had a semi-open-air bath, and the washing area was spacious; soaking while enjoying the view through the large window felt wonderfully open and relaxing. The Room was also large, bright, spotless, and very comfortable. We especially liked that the big TV was connected to the internet. My husband seemed to love the free private open-air bath, where you can check availability via a QR code. As others have mentioned, both dinner and breakfast were truly delicious—each dish carefully prepared using local ingredients. The portion sizes and serving pace were just right, and dining in a private room was calm and comfortable. The amenities around the sink area were well stocked, while drinks such as tea are offered as complimentary beverages in the lounge—an approach that felt thoughtfully planned. Being able to enjoy local Tanna milk in the morning was another highlight. Although IKYU lists it as “casual,” everything inside is beautifully maintained, and we could feel sincere yet unobtrusive hospitality from the staff throughout our stay. We were extremely satisfied overall. It would have been even better if samue loungewear had been available as an option. We would love to visit again in a different season.

We had a very comfortable stay!
Mount Fuji can be seen from the Room, and although the lounge is small, it was comfortable and we were able to relax as a family. My daughter and I spent our time reading books. If I had to ask for one thing, it would have been nice if the large public bath also had an open-air bath. The meals used plenty of local ingredients, and the portions were very generous—we were extremely satisfied. We would love to stay again.

A Relaxing Accommodation
We stayed as a family of four. The food was excellent, and we were very satisfied with both dinner and breakfast. We also appreciated being able to dine in a private room, which was perfect for our family as we prefer a calm setting. All the staff were kind, and we had a very comfortable stay. The view from our Room was great, and we could even see Mt. Fuji. The property felt very clean throughout, and it was nice to enjoy complimentary drinks in the lounge at certain times. There are three private Onsen baths, so it never felt too crowded and we could relax while using them. Each bath was well maintained and spotless, which made the experience even better. If I had to mention one thing, we could hear footsteps from upstairs and nearby Rooms, which bothered us a little. That said, other guests also seemed to be taking it easy, so it was very quiet at night and we slept soundly. This time we chose the most affordable Room, but next time we'd like to stay in a Room with an open-air bath. It was a wonderful Accommodation that made us want to return—thanks to the food, the Onsen baths, and the attentive staff.

The private bath was great.
I was happy that I could use the private bath as much as I wanted whenever it was available. It was very convenient to be able to check availability on my phone! All of the meals were delicious, and I especially loved the “Izumabushi,” where you grate fresh wasabi yourself. All of the staff were polite and kind, which made my stay very comfortable.

We stayed here with our baby (0 years old)!
We stayed as a family with our 0-year-old baby. The front desk staff welcomed us warmly, which made us feel very at ease. The futons in the Room were very fluffy, and our child was happy. Check-out was at 11:00, so we were able to leave with a little extra time. We would love to stay again! Thank you very much.

The food is delicious!
The food was absolutely delicious. Although the Room showed its age, it was clean and well stocked with amenities, which was great! At this time of year, many Accommodations are surprisingly expensive without matching quality, but this Accommodation offers outstanding quality for the price. I would love to stay again. I hope you will continue to maintain this high level of quality for years to come!

Ultra-rare whole ayu sashimi presentation
Freshwater fish like ayu can be concerning due to parasites, so they are rarely eaten raw; however, I was told that farm-raised fish grown in clean water have no parasites. It was delicious, with a wonderful aroma and texture. Every dish showcasing local ingredients—such as Izumabushi and Tanakayama watermelon—was excellent. The private open-air bath was also spotless and wonderful, and I could feel thoughtful touches throughout that were designed to delight guests. This Ryokan truly puts guests first. Thank you very much.

Warm hospitality
Thank you for taking care of us on our family trip. Check-in while enjoying a welcome drink was a nice touch, and the Room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. There were two bathing options: a free open-air bath and a large public bath, and we could even see Mt. Fuji from the large public bath. Dinner was delicious across the board; although we were full by the end of the meal, the house specialty “Izu Mabushi” was light and refreshing, so we enjoyed it easily. Breakfast featured a variety of side dishes served in small portions on multiple small plates—beautifully presented, and every dish was tasty. The staff were also very pleasant and welcoming, which made our stay even better. We would love to come again. Thank you very much.

We were extremely satisfied with this accommodation.
As others have mentioned, the meals at this Accommodation were truly delicious! In particular, the ayu sashimi and seared wagyu nigiri were outstanding and paired perfectly with chilled local sake. Breakfast was also excellent, with a great variety of locally sourced dishes in just the right portions. The meal satisfaction rating for this Accommodation was listed as 3 out of 5, but we were completely satisfied with the generous volume! We also appreciated being able to check the private bath availability on our smartphones, and the amenities were thoughtfully arranged for ease of use—it was clear everything was designed from a guest’s perspective. This is purely a personal request, but we would have loved to have two mini towels per person to use after bathing. It’s rare to find this level of satisfaction at this price. We would definitely love to stay again. Thank you very much!!

The meals and the fireworks were great.
On a whim, we made a Reservation since there was a fireworks display nearby! Unfortunately, we couldn’t see Mt. Fuji, but this Accommodation had delicious meals and truly warm hospitality from the staff! At night, we went to see fireworks two stations away; the station is close, and there’s also a 24-hour supermarket and a 100-yen shop nearby, making it a very convenient location! We’d love to come again!

We were extremely satisfied with our stay.
Although it was a weekday stay, it was very quiet and comfortable. First of all, the Room was exceptionally clean and functional, and I was completely satisfied. The semi-open-air bath had a spacious washing area, and the large ceramic tub allowed me to relax and soak in the Onsen at length. Having air conditioning in the washroom was also a welcome feature in summer. I was able to use the large public bath at my leisure as well, as it felt like having it all to myself. During my stay it was cloudy so I couldn’t see Mt. Fuji, but despite being located in a residential area, the view across the Kano River was wonderful. Dinner was carefully prepared dish by dish and truly delicious. The seared beef sushi finished with a burner by the chef—who had such a warm personality—was of course outstanding, but I was especially surprised by how exquisite the tomato simmered in wine on the side tasted. The summer-only sweetfish sashimi was my first time trying it in my life, and it too was delicious. The bluefin tuna sashimi melted instantly. The attendant who looked after us was cheerful and incredibly attentive. The message at breakfast the next morning also warmed my heart. Next time, I’d like to try the Shizuoka beef steak option. I was very satisfied with breakfast as well—the 15 side dishes and dried horse mackerel were excellent. In the lobby lounge we could relax with coffee and cold drinks; being able to take coffee back to our Room is also a nice touch. The staff’s courteous guidance at check-in and the owner seeing us off at check-out made our stay truly pleasant. Izu Nagaoka Onsen may be more understated compared with places like Shuzenji Onsen, but this area has personal ties for my family, so I would love to continue supporting this wonderful Accommodation that is working so hard.

The in-room bath was great.
The hot water in the large public bath was great, and the bath in the Room was also very nice. For the meal, I would have preferred the sweetfish grilled with salt. I also think it would be nice to have a bit more meat.

I chose to stay in a...
I chose to stay in a Modern Japanese-Style Twin Room because having a large public bath was my priority. The Accommodation itself is old, but the Facilities—such as the Room air conditioner and bidet toilet—are being renovated step by step, and there is clear attention to amenities. You can really see the intention to improve the guest experience, which I found very appealing. The meals were similar: you can feel the chef’s commitment, and I had a very enjoyable time. One concern was that in the Room I stayed in, there were several instances where sudden drainage noises came from near the window for what felt like about a minute each time. It might be related to drainage from an open-air bath on an upper floor, but I’m not sure. This is an issue for an Accommodation, so I think it should be investigated and addressed as soon as possible. Rooms with private open-air baths seem to have been renovated more overall, so if you are concerned about Facilities, it’s best to consult with the Accommodation in advance.

Secluded Accommodation
We were able to relax again this time. Above all, the food at this Ryokan is outstanding. You can enjoy your meal at a leisurely pace in a private dining room, and it’s quiet. Both dinner and breakfast are very filling. The seasonal sweetfish (ayu) sashimi is wonderfully rich and flavorful. The sake tasting flight was delicious as well. We had a truly enjoyable time. We will visit again.

Both the in-room bath and the private open-air bath were excellent!
We were traveling with our 6-month-old baby, so we chose a Room with a semi-open-air bath. We could relax and enjoy a soak in the Room at night! The views of Mt. Fuji and the city lights were beautiful—truly moving. The Room had spacious tatami flooring, which was great because our daughter could move around freely. I also loved the stylish atmosphere, including the wallpaper. There was also a well-stocked set of amenities such as toner. In the morning, we tried the private open-air bath as well. It was a clear day, with sunlight streaming in, and it felt wonderful! In the in-Room bath area, there wasn’t a setup for washing (no shower space) by the open-air section, but in the private open-air bath there were showers and items like body soap provided so you could wash properly.

The food is excellent.
At check-in, the front desk staff were unfriendly, and I wondered what kind of Hotel this was.\nHowever, the staff in the dining area were very polite and attentive, and the food was excellent.\nThe only disappointment was that the footsteps from the Room above were extremely loud.

No services provided?
There is no guidance to the Room. When you enter, the futons are already laid out, making the living area cramped and not very relaxing. We stayed with four people; for the two who did not have beds, the bedding was a thin futon. I slept on it and could not sleep due to back pain. You choose your yukata size yourself and take it to your Room. There is no explanation of evacuation locations or procedures. All of this is true. I have stayed at more than 100 Ryokan, and among those with a per-person rate exceeding 50,000 yen, this was the poorest service I have experienced. As for service, we had breakfast and dinner in a private room, but I was also surprised that even after the meal, the slippers were not neatly arranged. We stayed in the largest Room with an open-air bath; there were two toilets, but one was Japanese-style (squat), which surprised the children.

Do not stay here on rainy days.
Although we arrived a little early, the staff checked us in right away, so we were able to get into our Room sooner. It was drizzling that day, so we couldn’t see Mt. Fuji from the Room. Also, since the three open-air baths have almost no roof cover, even the washing area got wet in the rain, and we couldn’t really enjoy them. The next morning it was pouring rain, so we didn’t feel like using them at all. For both dinner and breakfast, we were shown to a spacious private dining room and could relax. We enjoyed the burner performance for the seared wagyu sushi at dinner and the wasabi hitsumabushi-style rice—both were very creative. At breakfast, we checked each item’s details via a QR code on the menu while eating, which made it even more enjoyable. The covered drop-off area is wide, which helped a lot because we could load and unload luggage without getting wet. Many of the staff seemed to be from overseas, but everyone spoke excellent Japanese, and their hard work really came through. We had made our Reservation early so bad weather couldn’t be helped, but that part was very disappointing.

The view of Mt. Fuji and the food were outstanding!
I stayed here on this trip and was very satisfied with my stay. The bath had excellent water quality, and I was able to relax and soothe my fatigue. From the Room, I had a beautiful view of Mt. Fuji and enjoyed a truly luxurious time. The sweets provided in the Room were also delicious, and I appreciated the thoughtful touches. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, and since we dined in a private room, we could enjoy our meal at ease without worrying about others even with children. I would definitely like to stay again.

The meals were absolutely delicious.
●Overall The property was very clean and well maintained. ●Dining We were able to enjoy our meal in a private dining Room while looking out onto the courtyard, and it was very relaxing. Every ingredient was delicious. ●Large Public Bath When entering the men’s bath in the early evening, the ventilation fan was running and it felt cold. It also seemed that drainage on part of the floor was poor, and there were areas where the floor had turned green. We also used the private open-air bath, but since we couldn’t see any outside scenery, it didn’t feel very open. ●Room We stayed as a family of four and it was very spacious. It was great that fluffy futons were already set up when we arrived. The building may be older, but we felt the washbasin looked dated. However, everything was thoroughly cleaned so it didn’t bother us.

It was very comfortable.
We had a very relaxing stay. It was a shame there was no sauna. There is an AEON behind the Accommodation, which felt a bit disappointing, but the view from our Room was so nice that we didn’t notice it. We were glad to get a discount this time, but at the regular price, considering everything overall—like the view and the meals—we felt it could be a bit more reasonably priced. For an Accommodation with a view of Mt. Fuji, it felt slightly disappointing. However, all the staff were very pleasant and we thought they were great.

I found a great Accommodation in Izunagaoka.
We were completely satisfied with everything: the warm welcome, assistance with our luggage, attentive service such as meal service, delicious cuisine that delighted both the eyes and the palate, the silky Onsen, the scenery, the location, and the impressive building. The Room we stayed in this time also had a large terrace and an open-air bath; it was very convenient to use. On the second day we were able to see Mt. Fuji as well, which was truly relaxing. I have stayed at many Ryokan in Izunagaoka so far, but this stay was especially wonderful. My wife in particular really liked Fugaku Hanabusa and said it is an Accommodation she would definitely recommend to friends. When we visit Izunagaoka again, we would love to stay with you once more.

A Historic Accommodation
My first impression upon arrival was that it might be an older Accommodation. Compared with places like Shuzenji or Ito, there aren’t many notable tourist spots nearby, and the Onsen town atmosphere isn’t very strong these days. However, after reading the history introduction posted in the large public bath, my impression changed, and I found myself reflecting on how remarkable it is that this place has continued operating for so long. In Shizuoka, more and more Ryokan are being owned by foreigners, so I can’t help but want to support an Accommodation that has been running continuously for many years. The service was truly excellent. Both the person who welcomed us and the person who served breakfast were polite and kind, which really moved me. It was also nice that the lounge drinks included local milk. In addition, having tableware and chopsticks in a Room with a microwave was very helpful. Given the location, I don’t think many Japanese guests stay here on weekdays, so it made me realize again how necessary it is for Onsen areas in Shizuoka Prefecture to accommodate international travelers as well. That said, the pricing felt a little high. Of course it’s not like that compared with Hakone or Atami, but compared with places I like—such as Kishigon Ryokan in Ikaho Onsen or Shinyu in Kamisuwa Onsen—it felt about 20% higher. I’m not sure what comparison is most appropriate. Also, it was slightly disappointing that after it became impossible to rebook once past the date when a Cancellation Fee applies, the price for my stay dropped by about 10%. Accommodations that survive even in these tough times seem to have certain things in common: clean tatami mats, new air conditioners, coffee machines in the lounge—actively updating their Facility—and impressive management efforts to survive through efficiency improvements and labor cost savings. Even so, it was wonderful to feel a distinctly Japanese spirit from the staff.

Savor exquisite wagyu that satisfies both heart and appetite—an experience worth more than Mount Fuji.
I was truly impressed by the lineup of dishes that spare no effort—completely the opposite of “efficiency”—such as your signature Wagyu seared sushi and the “Izumabushi,” cooked in a traditional hagama pot and enjoyed in three stages. The Wagyu seared sushi in particular was outstanding—honestly, it made me think, “I want more!” Because of my work, I could sense the hard work and ingenuity behind it all, and it made me want to support you wholeheartedly as someone in the same industry. It was a warm experience that also left me feeling inspired and refreshed. Everything was delicious, and I ended up eating far too much because the portions were so generous (laughs). It was a little disappointing not to see Mt. Fuji as I had hoped, but even more than that, there was such a calm, thoughtful atmosphere throughout the property that I felt genuinely recharged. Thank you very much.

Thank you for a wonderful stay.
We stayed here as a group of four as part of a trip to celebrate my mother’s 88th birthday, fulfilling her wish to “see Mt. Fuji at least once before I die.” Since it was a Thursday stay, it may have depended on the day’s occupancy, but despite being a little worried in advance after reading some Reviews, we had absolutely no issues with the service or dinner. This stay made me feel that “Reviews aren’t always reliable.” In the way each staff member interacted with us, the thoughtful touches throughout the Facility, and the various approaches to their service style, we could sense everywhere how seriously they work to ensure guests can spend their time comfortably. By coincidence, Izu Nagaoka Onsen was featured on “Aiba Hiromi no Okomari desu Car?” one week before our stay, which raised our expectations for the trip even more. If we have the opportunity, we would love to visit again. Thank you very much.

We had a very relaxing stay. From the Room we could see Mt. Fuji, and the open-air bath with automatic temperature control was wonderful. The Room was also kept very clean, and the Ryokan’s ornaments and decor made it feel especially comfortable. However, the bed was very firm, which seemed difficult for someone with lower back issues. The food was great—especially the tomato wine stew (?). It was delicious. Hanabusa responds carefully to every Review and makes improvements, so I think many more guests and repeat visitors will come in the future. Thank you everyone.

Enjoy a renowned hot spring while taking in views of sacred Mount Fuji.
Fugaku Hanabusa is a wonderful hot-spring Accommodation where you can enjoy renowned baths while taking in views of sacred Mt. Fuji. It seems they are currently offering only Rooms with Mt. Fuji views, so on a clear day you can see Mt. Fuji from the window of any Room. At check-in we were served a welcome drink, and there is also a lounge on the second floor where you can enjoy complimentary soft drinks in the evening and morning. You can see Mt. Fuji through its large windows, and even the large public bath offers Mt. Fuji views from big windows as well. This was our first visit. Unfortunately it was cloudy on the first day and we couldn’t see Mt. Fuji, but the next morning brought perfectly clear skies, and we were able to admire beautiful snow-capped Mt. Fuji—just like in the photos—from both our Room and our private open-air bath (it’s more like a semi open-air bath since it’s opened to the outside via windows). By the way, the complimentary drinks are non-alcoholic—which makes perfect sense, as drinking too much before bathing can be dangerous. The hot-spring water itself was truly excellent. I had been bothered by thickened skin on my soles, but after soaking many times, it came off smoothly while washing—such a surprise. “Beauty bath” really is an accurate description. I was told the water is set to 41.5°C, so hotter water flows in at times—too hot so I get out, then back in because it feels so good—repeating this again and again. In total I ended up bathing 13 times: 5 before dinner, 3 after dinner, once before breakfast after waking up, and twice more after breakfast until checkout! My previous record for one night was 8 times, so this easily surpassed it. I think this was possible because they kindly let us into our Room early even though we arrived ahead of schedule due to train timing—and also because checkout at 11:00 is exceptionally generous for a Ryokan. It also helped that there were so many options: an open-air bath in the Room, three reservable private open-air baths, plus a large public bath. The meals were beautifully presented and delicious one by one (as shown in the photos), and every staff member we interacted with was genuinely pleasant—making for an extremely satisfying stay. The building has some age to it, but it appears to be well renovated; we also heard another renovation is planned for this May. I’m sure it will become an even more wonderful Accommodation. It offers excellent value for money as well—I would love to return again. Thank you very much for taking such good care of us during our stay.
