    Had a comfortable stay!

    I stayed for two nights. The Shuttle Service staff, entrance staff, front desk, Room cleaning team, and dining area staff all greeted us warmly, making our stay very pleasant! Especially the Japanese restaurant "Tensho," where we had dinner both nights—it was so delicious that it took away all the fatigue from our trip! From appetizers to dessert, everything was prepared with great care. The person in charge of our table shared the charm of each dish in a modest yet enjoyable way and was very attentive, making dinner a truly happy time. The portions were just right—not too much—and my mother and aunt who came along were also delighted. The Room was clean, including the bathroom area. The futon provided was fluffy and spotless without any odor or stains; I slept very well! The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of delicious options! Although it got slightly crowded at times, the staff worked efficiently to ensure everything went smoothly. This visit to Matsushima brought back memories since my last visit before the earthquake disaster. Everyone's warm smiles gave us energy again. I will definitely return—thank you so much!

    I would like to stay again...

    This was my second stay at the accommodation after about a year. Perhaps because they remembered me, the elevator directions were simply "It's in the back on the right." Since I stayed in a different building this time, I later realized there was an elevator closer to my room. (It seemed other guests were guided closer to their elevators.) They emphasized that dinner at 7:30 PM would be very crowded. I wondered if it would really be that busy on a Sunday night, but it turned out not to be crowded at all—perhaps it was just standard information they provide. A little more attention to detail would have been nice. The younger staff members outside of the front desk provided pleasant service.

    The Hotel staff are friendly.

    I had reserved a Japanese-style room, but since my companion has difficulty walking, we changed to a room with beds. The staff responded kindly to the sudden change. Above all, the dinner was delicious. However, for elderly guests with mobility issues, the distance to the bath was a bit inconvenient.

    It was a comfortable stay.

    It was my first visit to Matsushima. Although the weather was drizzly and cloudy, which made me feel a bit disappointed at first, the view from the Room was so stunning that it more than made up for it. The staff's warm smiles were wonderful, and I was able to relax comfortably. The buffet had a wide variety of options and was excellent. Thank you very much!

    Very satisfied

    Opened in the 1960s, which made me a bit concerned, but it has been beautifully renovated, and the view from the Room was fantastic. The church with an ocean view is also worth appreciating.

    It exceeded the level of buffet I had known.

    The dinner was a buffet, so I had lowered my expectations, but the variety, quality, and quantity exceeded them greatly. From the Room's large window, I could enjoy a beautiful view of Matsushima, and the sunrise was spectacular.

    The food was absolut...

    The food was absolutely delicious. The sashimi at night was fresh, and the freshly baked croissants in the morning were delightful. The shuttle bus service was also very convenient.

    The meals and views are excellent!

    We stayed with an infant and felt at ease as the futon bedding in the Japanese-style room was safe for a crawling child. They kindly provided an Anpanman pillow for our child, which made them very happy. The view of Matsushima from the room was impressive, but the scenery from the bath was even more stunning. Meals were served buffet-style with Japanese, Western, and Chinese options, including seafood like sushi and sashimi, satisfying both adults and children. There was a minor issue with the view from our room; while staff promptly addressed it, having some form of compensation or follow-up would have been appreciated for greater satisfaction. The staff were all kind and attentive at this wonderful accommodation. We hope to visit again if we have another opportunity!

    We had a wonderful s...

    We had a wonderful stay during our family trip! Although we traveled by train, the shuttle service was available, making it very convenient for sightseeing. During the summer holiday period, there were festival events and fireworks services that delighted our children. The accommodation had an older feel but was impeccably clean, allowing us to enjoy a comfortable stay. Many of the staff members were young, but they provided warm and hospitable service, creating a memorable accommodation experience for us.

    The view from the Room is amazing!

    This trip was planned for a two-night stay to coincide with a visit to the cemetery. I requested a "room with a bed and an ocean view." I booked without much thought about meals, so I didn't realize it would be a buffet. There were so many options that it was hard to choose, and I ended up overeating. The highlight was the corner where they made ramen tailored to your taste—it was absolutely delicious. The bed in the room wasn't very comfortable, probably the worst I've experienced, but the view was spectacular. In the morning, I could see the sunrise over Matsushima Bay, and at night, there was a full moon that made for an enchanting night sky.

    Miyagi Matsushima Taikanso

    I mistakenly assumed it was a traditional Ryokan, but the interior was Western-style, very spacious, and beautifully clean, which surprised me. I wanted to visit Zuiganji Temple, and the shuttle bus service was extremely helpful. The driver was also very kind, which I greatly appreciated. The meals were so abundant that I couldn't finish them all.

    It was an amazing trip.

    The room view and meals were amazing!! However, to mention a minor detail, there was some hair on the floor in the room. I understand that it's inevitable since humans do the cleaning, so it didn’t bother me. But for those who are particular, it might be an issue? Also, the floor creaked when entering the room—well, considering its age, it’s understandable! More importantly!!!! The tatami mats were clean, and the meals featuring "fresh seafood" were outstanding! I enjoyed plenty of beef tongue, steak, sashimi, and sushi to my heart's content! This has become one of my top choices for accommodations to visit again! Thank you so much!!!!

    This is my second stay.

    We stayed here for the first time last year, and our child greatly enjoyed the summer events held within the accommodation. As parents, we were also very satisfied with the dinner, which led us to book another stay. Although our child mentioned that last year's banquet events were more enjoyable, we were highly satisfied with this year's dinner—it was excellent. It would be even better if table tennis facilities could remain open until check-out time.

    The view is excellent.

    After enjoying a tour of Matsushima, we stayed here. We were looking forward to three things: the view from the Room, the bath, and the meals. The view was great, and the bath met our expectations. However, the meals fell short of what we had hoped for. The buffet-style meals were not bad by any means but considering the price in Tohoku during summer vacation, they didn’t quite meet our expectations and felt similar to those offered by Itoen Group hotels. Perhaps it’s understandable given the summer holiday pricing.

    Perfect for families with children

    The hotel offered excellent services for children during the summer vacation, ensuring they were never bored. The meals lived up to their reputation, with a wide variety and delicious flavors. The luggage storage service during our Matsuyama sightseeing was also very helpful. However, we were disappointed by the poor etiquette in the public bath (e.g., parents and children using washing areas while standing, groups entering the bath without rinsing). It might be helpful to provide reminders at check-in, post notices in the bath area, or conduct regular patrols as some younger guests may not be familiar with proper usage. Additionally, my child mentioned that the pool water was dirty.

    It was a bit disappointing.

    Stayed at Shofukaku. The view was great and the accommodation was very clean, but there were some spots on the floor that sagged, which made my child worry about it breaking and avoid walking there. The dining area on the first floor is accessed via stairs, which was a bit inconvenient. There were various handmade events during summer vacation that we enjoyed. The food was plentiful and delicious, but I wish we had stayed in a different room. The shuttle bus is very convenient. You can also leave your luggage at a partnered shop near the sightseeing boat terminal.

    Typhoon Alert

    First visit to Matsushima. Thank you for the thoughtful upgrade. Despite Typhoon No. 5, the occasional breathtaking scenery was truly impressive. The Japanese-style dinner was very delicious and satisfying.

    I would love to visit again.

    We were very satisfied with the scenery, meals, and Room. The view of Matsushima from the open-air bath was wonderful, and we could relax while enjoying the lukewarm water. Both breakfast and dinner were buffet-style, but the quality was not bad. However, a set meal might have been better to avoid overeating. I ended up eating too much because everything looked so tempting, but it was delicious.

    Stunning views

    First trip to Matsushima with a friend. Took the shuttle service from the station to the hotel. The bath, meals, and view from the room were amazing. We could see the sunrise from the room, and everything became a wonderful memory. I will use this hotel again when visiting Matsushima. Thank you very much!

    Seafood × Matsushima Scenery

    The staff provided very courteous service, for which we are grateful. The Room floor was upgraded, allowing us to enjoy the view. Thank you. We purchased Date socks at the shop.

    Best value for money!

    We were upgraded to a higher-floor room for free as there was availability on the day of our stay. The moment we entered the room, we were amazed by the breathtaking view of Matsushima's sea through the large windows. It was such a stunning view that we could never tire of looking at it. The young staff member who guided us during dinner was cheerful and engaging! Their enthusiasm lifted our spirits as well. The seafood buffet was delicious, with every dish being exceptional. We would love to visit again on our next trip to Matsushima!

    High satisfaction

    I reserved a room on the ocean side, and the view of Matsushima from the window was breathtaking. The buffet meals offered a wide variety and were delicious, especially the rice at breakfast (perhaps Sasanishiki?), which was exceptional. The onsen had a spacious and open large bath, and I felt completely relaxed while enjoying the view of Matsushima from the outdoor bath. The staff were very kind and attentive from check-in to check-out. It was an excellent trip. Thank you very much!

    The view from the room was wonderful. However, the bathroom had an unpleasant smell. The meals were a Japanese-style buffet, but nothing stood out, and the only delicious item was the fried shrimp.

    Stay here when visiting Matsushima

    A breathtaking view of Matsushima from the room window! This alone made the visit worthwhile. The bath was clean, with both a sauna and an open-air bath, allowing for a relaxing experience. Above all, the meals were exceptional. Each dish was carefully prepared, making it feel far beyond a typical buffet.     Everything about the Hotel was wonderful!

    I stayed here for my boyfriend's birthday trip. Both of us were extremely satisfied, and it turned out to be a wonderful journey. Thank you so much! Here are the specific points we loved: - The seafood buffet was incredibly delicious. Everything was very fresh, and the sushi, in particular, was so good that I felt like I could eat it endlessly. - The attentiveness of the staff. Rather than any specific individual, all the staff present were polite with greetings and guidance, making our stay very comfortable. - The view from the open-air bath. Surrounded by vast nature right in front of us, it felt truly liberating. This is the best Hotel I've ever stayed at! Thank you!

    Overall, very satisfied.

    The bath uses heated water, but the chlorine smell was noticeable. Other than that, I was satisfied with the meals, Room, view, and service. I especially thought the quality of the meals was excellent.

    The staff's smiles and courteous service were simply outstanding. Even during the busy Golden Week, from senior to junior staff, everyone was truly attentive, making the stay very comfortable. Above all, the deliciousness of the meals was exceptional—nothing but gratitude for the efforts of the kitchen staff. Highly recommended Hotel!

    Great value for money with excellent service accommodation.

    It had been over 10 years since my last trip to Matsushima. I chose this hotel based on reviews, and it lived up to the positive reputation. I was grateful to be upgraded to a higher floor and a newly renovated room than the one I had reserved. The meal I was looking forward to was a seafood buffet, and it did not disappoint! I enjoyed fresh sashimi and various fish dishes. There seemed to be fewer guests, making the atmosphere quiet, but there were plenty of dishes available, so there was no disappointment at all. The staff recommended their favorites, which led me to eat more than I planned! There were also many desserts available; however, honestly speaking, they were just average in taste. If you visit here, I recommend focusing on enjoying the seafood instead. While some parts of the facility and room's plumbing showed their age, everything felt clean overall. One downside was that the bath wasn't an onsen. However, my family seemed satisfied with everything including the accommodation fee. All of the staff provided excellent service—I’m glad we chose this hotel!
