    It was a wonderful stay.

We stayed for 3 days and 2 nights. The allergy accommodations were excellent, and although we may have caused you extra trouble, we truly appreciated your attentive care. We’d love to stay again.

    Relax and unwind in Hakone

This was my second stay. I enjoyed my previous visit, so I stayed again to relax. There is a great variety of large public baths and private reservable baths, and the thoughtful little services are much appreciated. This time I chose the hot pot dinner; I prefer it. It’s an Accommodation that makes you want to come back again.

    I have stayed at man...

I have stayed at many Accommodations in Hakone, but this was my first time staying here, and the service left me feeling upset. While staff carried other guests’ luggage to their Room and saw them off, we received none of that support at all. The Room we stayed in was not cheap either, so I wonder if guests are being treated differently based on price or clientele. If customers can notice that kind of difference, I don’t think it’s acceptable. The Room and the bath were nice, but the experience left a bad impression.

    The navigation syste...

The navigation system directed us to a steep, narrow hill road, and it was tough when an oncoming car came. We had to back up and drive up the hill… There were two men in the parking lot, but one of them didn’t feel very friendly. However, once we went inside, a foreign staff member carefully explained everything about the Accommodation. The mizuyokan (sweet jelly) and tea were very delicious. The Room was exactly as shown in the photos. The kids were thrilled with the outdoor bath. They were so excited that I was worried we might get a complaint from the next Room. Dinner was also pleasant thanks to the male staff member in charge. However, I did notice he occasionally made gestures as if he was adjusting his hair. It also made me feel at ease that there were children seated at the table next to us (since we had an elementary school child and a younger boy with us, I was worried we might be too noisy or bother others). The late-night soba was delicious too. There were many Onsen baths, and we really enjoyed them. We were happy they also had ice cream and milk. At breakfast, it felt cold—maybe because of where the air conditioning hit—so I told a staff member, but it didn’t seem to change. No one came to check on us afterward either. The woman in charge of breakfast worked efficiently despite being busy. The souvenir shop was small but had a nice selection. The yosegi-zaiku keychain was cute, and the teapot looked great too. There was also a rusk set available, which saved me time choosing gifts. The jelly in our Room was delicious as well, so I bought some. The staff there were kind. It was a three-generation trip, and this Accommodation left us very satisfied. My mother said she would like to come again.

    The Onsen is very nice.

[Onsen] The water quality is excellent, and there are several options such as a large public bath and private open-air baths. I was able to enjoy them many times with almost no sharing, so overall satisfaction was high. [Room] The single room with a double bed is more than enough for one person, but the Room is old and has a slight odor as soon as you enter. I didn’t use it because I used the Onsen instead, but the black mold in the shower room installed in front of the toilet stands out. It’s best to keep the door closed. The coffee is delicious since you grind the beans with a mill and drip-brew it. The TV is large, and it was great being able to enjoy YouTube on a big screen. [Meals] Breakfast only: Japanese set meal. Plenty of items and generous portions. The taste is average but filling. Nothing particularly memorable. [Service] There are Kyoritsu Resort–style services (light snacks: dumplings / late-night soba), ice cream, and 24-hour drink service, so for someone like me who eats very little dinner, staying with breakfast only was not an issue at all. [Staff] The Shuttle Service from Kowakidani Station is appreciated, but the bus driver neither provided any guidance at the station nor offered a greeting. Even when I said “thank you” upon arrival at the Hotel, I was ignored, which put me in a bad mood before even reaching the Accommodation. The same happened on the way back. Front desk service was businesslike and average. The man at the light-snack station was pleasant. [Overall] This was my first visit, and now that I know “the Shuttle Service bus driver doesn’t greet guests,” I can manage expectations accordingly; if you can overlook issues like Room odor and mold and your priority is Onsen-focused travel, I would consider returning when rates offer good value for money.

    Overall, I’m satisfied.

We were told to wait in the lobby until check-in, but there weren’t enough chairs—perhaps many guests arrived at the same time. If our Room was already ready, I would have liked to be shown in a little earlier. I couldn’t drink the coffee milk I was looking forward to; I wish it had been refilled during the day. The meals looked beautiful, but the portions were so large—maybe aimed at younger guests—that I was too full to make it to the late-night noodles (lol). It would have been nice to have toothpicks on the table. All staff were polite and pleasant. I also think a towel collection box in the changing area would be helpful. The plastic bag for wet items was a thoughtful touch.

    The staff’s service was excellent.

I stayed on the 18th, and I asked twice to have photos taken at dinner. A tall, young male staff member kindly helped me. The spicy miso served as a side with the rice at dinner was very delicious. I would appreciate it if you could sell it at the shop.

Enjoy two types of Onsen and a private open-air bath.

First stay. Enjoyed a luxurious time with the waters of two types of Onsen. Stayed in a room with only a shower booth this time, but it was no problem at all. In fact, having Onsen water in the room might have felt wasteful. Delighted by the post-bath treats as well. The shuttle service between Kowakudani Station and the hotel was convenient. Recently renovated in April 2025, so everything is very clean. The thin walls (hearing neighbors) might be unavoidable... Thank you for your hospitality. I would love to visit again!

Stay at Accommodation with the sound of water on New Year’s Day

I’m honestly surprised it has such high ratings. I arrived before check-in, but the only dinner time available was already 8:00 PM. On top of that, when I went to the restaurant 10 to 1 minutes early, it was cold as if the heating wasn’t on, and there was a long line. The way they spoke was also rude, like “Yes, line up in order.” I was shocked that they wouldn’t let us inside until exactly the scheduled time even though it was cold. I didn’t expect that even if I came early, I wouldn’t be able to sit down. If you’re going to make guests wait, at least turn on the heating. All of the staff seemed inexperienced. I’ve been staying at a Ryokan every New Year recently, but this was my first time experiencing something like this—so this is my first post.

    Enjoy the Bath

This was my first solo trip to Hakone. After visiting museums with the Hakone Free Pass, I took the shuttle bus from Kowakidani Station after 3 PM to the accommodation. Both the driver and front desk staff were very pleasant. The room was compact at 18 square meters. The bed was comfortable, perfect for relaxing alone. The wooden door in the room seemed a bit worn out, so partial repairs might make it look nicer. I tried all bathing facilities: two large public baths and three private open-air Onsen baths. Guests are required to bring towels from their rooms, but with so many baths, my towel got soaked quickly. Also, repeatedly putting on and taking off the samue outfit, haori jacket, and tabi socks felt inconvenient; renting a yukata (available for an additional fee) might be a better option next time. All Onsen baths had free-flowing alkaline spring water that left my skin feeling smooth. Both dinner and breakfast offered a wide variety of dishes—authentic Japanese cuisine made with proper dashi stock, low in oil and rich in vegetables. However, some grilled items like spiny lobster or dried horse mackerel seemed preheated (perhaps for safety reasons), which made them dry and lacking flavor—a bit of a shame. I enjoyed my stay so much that I purchased a lucky bag (including an Onsen voucher) as a way to celebrate New Year's closure!

    We enjoyed the Onsen.

The room was spacious enough for solo use, and the comfortable sofa allowed me to relax. Above all, I enjoyed two types of Onsen, and I was able to use the private bath at the perfect timing, which made me very satisfied. The hinoki wood reclining bath I used in the morning was so pleasant and became my favorite.

    Day-use Onsen

I decided to visit after watching "Hirunandesu" and made a reservation right away, looking forward to the trip. The room, onsen, and meals were excellent, but I was very disappointed with the front desk service. Since my return Shinkansen time was fixed, I requested a taxi more than two hours in advance right after finishing dinner so that I could leave promptly. However, when I went to the front desk after dinner, they told me that they had called the taxi company at the time of my request but couldn't secure a reservation anywhere and therefore didn't arrange for a taxi. If that was the case, they should have informed me properly.

We welcome many international guests, which is wonderful. However, some may find it difficult to understand proper bath etiquette, such as entering the changing room with slippers on. It might be helpful to provide a paper guide or post information about bath etiquette somewhere for their convenience.

    Staff shortage?

Kyoritsu Resort is reliable, so I made the reservation with peace of mind. There were no major issues, but when I called a few times before my stay to ask questions, the phone response felt cold and dismissive. The staff followed the manual strictly, and I didn’t feel any kindness or attentiveness. Most of the front desk staff seemed young and gave off a straightforward impression. The water in the onsen's water server ran out and wasn’t replaced, which gave me an impression of understaffing. The meal service also felt very matter-of-fact without much warmth. At checkout, even though I had already paid online beforehand, they overlooked it and asked for payment again. After waiting for some time, they confirmed that it was indeed paid online but didn’t apologize for making me wait or their mistake—something that left an impression on me. Having stayed at many Annexes, Dormy Inn Premiums, and Kyoritsu Resorts where I’ve always been impressed by their thoughtfulness and kindness, this accommodation left a rather simple impression overall.

    This was my second stay...

This was the accommodation that made me fall in love with Kyoritsu Resort, so I decided to stay again after its renewal. The front desk service was average. However, the male staff member who attended our table during dinner was polite on the surface but left a very unpleasant impression, which was disappointing. He was all smiles and friendly to the young female guests at the next table, but his attitude towards us felt cold and unwelcoming as if we had done something wrong. There were three options for a small dish offered as a gesture of hospitality, but since some Kyoritsu Resort accommodations allow you to order all of them, I asked if it was possible here too. The response? A curt "No." That would have been fine on its own, but then came another issue: the grill for searing didn’t heat up properly. When I mentioned it to him, he replied with "The previous guests had no issues." Excuse me? And then? He relit it for us eventually, but it took time to warm up and delayed our cooking process significantly. He came by later to check on things briefly; once he saw that grilling had started properly, he just walked away without even asking something like "How is everything?" We lost nearly 30 minutes due to this delay only for him later to come back and inform us matter-of-factly about the time limit: "You have until 30 minutes." Was this delay somehow our fault? Even when dessert arrived at our table—if we didn’t call out—they wouldn’t serve hojicha tea or provide information about their late-night soba offering (which they did explain at other tables). It didn’t seem like they forgot; rather intentional neglect perhaps? I stay at various accommodations every month—but being treated this poorly is unprecedented! It’s shocking honestly... If not for these experiences during dinner service—I might’ve considered returning again someday—but now sadly that won’t happen anymore!

    It was excellent.

Upon arrival, the parking lot was closed, so we called the accommodation and were picked up. However, the man who came to pick us up was quite indifferent, and the woman at reception seemed new and overwhelmed as she hurriedly explained everything. The room was compact but very functional. It had a large mirror for makeup with a chair, a sofa with a side table next to it—everything we needed was provided. The coffee machine used beans that needed grinding; while some may appreciate this feature, it might feel inconvenient if you're tired. The black mold in the shower room caught my attention slightly. The restaurant staff during both breakfast and dinner provided exceptional service. We enjoyed our meals very comfortably thanks to their hospitality. The private bath required no complicated reservation process, making it easy to use. We tried all of the baths available during our stay. For those driving rental cars to Hakone, I recommend arriving at the accommodation before dark as mountain roads can be confusing with no streetlights and narrow paths.

This was my first stay. I chose this accommodation based on reviews. The dedication of the staff was evident throughout the stay. On the other hand, considering it's a popular area like Hakone, the accommodation fee is understandable. The meals felt typical of a chain accommodation and lacked appeal. There were few rooms with open-air baths, so I stayed in a Japanese-Western style room with a shower, but given the total number of guest rooms, there weren't enough private baths available. The hot spring quality was excellent; however, some older guests entered without washing their bodies first, making me wish for a room with an open-air bath instead. There were many families with children, and the noise from running on upper floors directly echoed into my room. For these reasons, I think I'll choose another place next time.

    Cleaning was disappointing.

The renovated accommodation features clean guest rooms and dining areas, but the overall cleanliness was lacking. It seemed like there might not be enough staff. This was my fourth stay at this accommodation over the past 15 years. However, I noticed issues such as overflowing trash bins in the lounge and no designated place to dispose of empty ice cream or milk drink containers near the post-bath area. The large public bath also didn’t seem to have frequent cleaning by staff. Some guests displayed poor manners, leaving used towels in the changing room or abandoning hairdryers and combs after use, which made the experience unpleasant despite the nice bath facilities. Additionally, outdoor sandals for private baths were left scattered untidily. On a positive note, the service provided by staff at the dining area was excellent and enjoyable.

    I was full.

The meals were not exceptional, but the variety and quantity were impressive, making it highly satisfying for our family with growing children. The Room and bath were clean, allowing us to stay comfortably. Coffee beans and a grinder were provided in the Room, which is a unique service not often found in other Ryokans—a delightful touch for coffee lovers.

I have used Water Sound Accommodation before, but this time I visited with excitement as it has been newly renovated. Each private open-air bath has been beautifully updated, and the large public bath has also been renewed. The staff's hospitality was satisfying, and of course, the food was impeccable. This is an accommodation I would love to revisit again and again.

We were soothed by two natural hot springs.

I stayed with my elderly mother, so I made a Reservation for a Room with an open-air Onsen bath. The cypress bath was very clean, and my mother enjoyed bathing while listening to the trees rustling and the gentle sound of running water. However, I felt that stepping over the edge of the tub could be dangerous for seniors and small children due to the height difference, so it would be appreciated if handrails or a step stool were provided. Both large public baths and the private bath were also clean and relaxing. I was also happy to be able to enjoy two different hot spring sources from Kowakidani and Miyanoshita. Breakfast was a bit disappointing. There were few side dishes and too many rice accompaniments. Even so, the rice was served late; it would have been better to bring it sooner (the miso soup could come later).

Because I love the sound of water.

I have been using this accommodation many times since its opening. This was my first visit after the renovation, and I was excited. The room, dining area, bath, and even the work clothes were renewed, making it a very pleasant experience. "Mizu no Oto" feels like a second home in the countryside for us—a place to relax without pretense—and we enjoyed a slow and peaceful stay. However, there were some concerns... The check-in process felt chaotic; I couldn’t understand what was happening as I was directed here and there from parking to check-in, which made me anxious about the stay ahead. During checkout, even though I had settled my bill early and only needed to hand over the key in its pouch, none of the staff near the front desk would take it. There wasn’t a clear place to leave it either. In the end, I had to join a long line for checkout despite having already paid early—making me wonder why I bothered settling in advance. It seems there are many inexperienced staff members at present. Please ensure proper training moving forward. I love "Mizu no Oto" and want to visit again—it’s such an amazing place with wonderful baths and atmosphere! Please make it somewhere we can enjoy comfortably from start to finish next time as well. Looking forward to another relaxing stay soon! Thank you!

    Kowakudani & Miyanoshita Onsen

Clean rooms, a relaxing room bath with the soothing scent of cypress, and two large Onsen baths with different hot spring sources provided a very relaxing experience. There were also inbound international guests staying, and while the lively atmosphere during dinner was enjoyable, I personally found the flow between the large Onsen baths and the dining area to be slightly inconvenient. I liked the ambiance of the lobby but felt that this accommodation might be more suited for younger generations seeking modern vibes rather than seniors looking for an extraordinary retreat. It was great for Onsen hopping!

    @ひーちゃん!

Enjoyable even for a day trip.

We used the accommodation for a day trip to celebrate his birthday. It was our first time staying in a room with an open-air bath, and unlike the large public bath, we were able to relax together at our own pace. Dinner was kaiseki cuisine, and we were attended by a dedicated staff member who provided excellent service, allowing us to enjoy dishes like grilled items leisurely. Initially, we were guided to the underground parking lot, but even with a compact car, the ceiling height was too low, so we had to give up parking there. At check-in, inputting necessary information on the tablet took some time and made us realize why there was such a long line. The lobby had limited seating space, so we enjoyed complimentary drinks while standing. Finding the entrance to our room was slightly confusing at first; however, once inside, it turned out to be an incredibly quiet and peaceful space. It was such a lovely accommodation that I hope for smoother guidance during our next visit!
