The view of Lake Suwa from the Room was absolutely beautiful. I would love to stay again.

    I was satisfied.

We were very satisfied with the care given to every aspect—Facility, Onsen, meals, and service. The Onsen was wonderful, especially the open-air bath overlooking Lake Suwa. We also appreciated being able to ride the Lake Suwa sightseeing boat for free as it is operated by an affiliated company.

    It was a great accommodation.

The top-floor open-air bath with a view of Lake Suwa was amazing. It’s great during the day, but the Onsen at night—soaking while looking at the lights along the lakeshore and the stars—was especially nice. The guest room was clean, and the dining area was also spotless. However, despite the wonderful hospitality and cuisine, we couldn’t finish all of either dinner or breakfast. Breakfast came with many side dishes packed in a tiered box, and you can also pick up egg dishes and wakasagi from the live kitchen. (You can also choose a Western set at check-in.) Personally, I would prefer a basic set plus something like a half-buffet where you take only what you want. I’m very sorry that we ended up leaving most items other than rice, miso soup, and grilled fish. The miso soup was delicious too—it was like kenchin-jiru with plenty of root vegetables. We received tickets for the Lake Suwa sightseeing boat cruise and went on it. It was fun to be out on the water again after such a long time. It was a very good Accommodation with excellent value for money.

The two types of Onsen were great.

We enjoyed a stay with views of Lake Suwa and Onsen with different mineral qualities. Dinner was high quality, featuring Shinshu Premium Beef and Shinshu Salmon. Perhaps due to staff shortages, there were issues with breakfast service operations for guests. Also, the step in the modern Japanese-Western room was a concern. The Standard Plan seems reasonably priced.

It was good value for money.

The bath is on the 6th floor, offering a panoramic view of Lake Suwa, and the Onsen was very pleasant with two different types of spring water. The complimentary beer and ice pops after bathing were also a nice touch. The Room had been beautifully renovated, and we were able to stay comfortably. The meals were delicious and served in just the right portions for us in our 60s. The price was reasonable, and we would like to stay again.

    No view

I stayed during the busy season in August. The view from the Rooms shown on the Hotel website looked wonderful, so when making my Reservation I chose a “no view” Room (partly because I booked late and there were no other options). Still, I didn’t expect it to be this bad, and I was extremely disappointed. When I opened the sliding doors, all I could see was the moss-covered exterior wall of the neighboring Hotel and an emergency staircase right in front of me. So I kept them closed throughout my stay. It’s truly disappointing that a Room like that is offered at the regular rate. That said, the view from the Onsen was outstanding, and the meals were absolutely delicious.

    It was wonderful.

It was a wonderful Accommodation. We were completely satisfied with both the Room and the meals, and the panoramic view over Lake Suwa was truly beautiful and soothing. The Onsen had excellent water quality, allowing us to relax at ease. We also appreciated the complimentary beer after bathing. We even received sightseeing boat tickets, so we were able to fully enjoy exploring Lake Suwa. This is an Accommodation we would definitely like to stay at again.

    It was very good.

A 4-star rating may not sound exceptional, but we were very satisfied. It’s understandable that there are only a few Rooms facing the lake due to the location, but we were happy with both the Facility and the service. The property’s attention to accessibility is also excellent. It felt like something from years ago that all the staff we met were Japanese. We’ve also experienced wonderful hospitality from international staff elsewhere, so having them wouldn’t be a bad thing at all. We mean it in the sense that it had a nostalgic atmosphere you don’t often find these days.

It was great to be able to enjoy two types of Onsen at once. The Facility was very clean, and the fresh flowers were elegant as well. The draft beer after the bath and the welcome drink (apple juice) were both very delicious. At the front desk, I could hear staff chatting in the back, and their communication felt rather businesslike and not very warm, which was a bit disappointing.

It was a very nice accommodation.

Considering the Accommodation cost, I was satisfied with everything. Due to the building’s layout, there are only a few Rooms facing Lake Suwa, but we could see Lake Suwa from the restaurant and the baths. Dinner offered a wide variety of dishes and was very satisfying, and I thought it was wonderful that you can choose what to do with the last two dishes depending on how hungry you are. For breakfast, everything in the Japanese set meal was already prepared at our seats, and it was also great that items you may want to adjust yourself—such as rolled omelet, fried wakasagi smelt, and drinks—were self-serve. We dined in a private room, but because of the layout it was sometimes hard for staff to notice us, so I thought it would be nice to have a call button. Both the Room and the baths were easy to use and well maintained in clean condition. I would love to stay again.

A wonderfully comfortable Accommodation—I will definitely return.

All of the staff are extremely kind and attentive. The Room is spacious and very clean, and it’s also nice to relax in the stylish in-house loungewear. There are two types of Onsen baths with alternating access for men and women between morning and evening, so you can unwind while looking out over Lake Suwa. In many Onsen areas from Hakone and Atami down to Shimoda, most employees are foreign nationals, but here the team is working hard as Japanese staff. It makes me want to support them, also in terms of creating local employment. They offer welcome drinks, and the restaurant also has a Lake Suwa view where you can relax in a Japanese-modern interior. I was surprised by the complimentary draft beer service after bathing. Cold and refreshing—such an appreciated touch. There was also a sightseeing boat service, but unfortunately it was cloudy that day, so I’ll use it next time. It was a bit disappointing that there wasn’t drip coffee in the Room. Also, because there is a smoking area, there was some cigarette smell—those were the reasons I deducted one star. Other than that, no complaints at all. It was very comfortable and made for a pleasant holiday.

    Seasonal Pricing & Point Use

This was my first return visit in two years. The renovated lake-view Room with a private Onsen and the dinner were outstanding! One star off for breakfast, amenities, and an elderly staff member who forgot my requests. Still, I was very satisfied thanks to the seasonal pricing and making good use of points.

    Excellent

We stayed as a family of three with No Meals Included. The Room was very clean. We were quite tired after being out and about during the day, but soaking in the Onsen at a leisurely pace left us fully refreshed. The bed was just the firmness I like, and I slept soundly until morning. The morning bath was also excellent. The view of Lake Suwa from the open-air bath was wonderful. Next time, we’d like to take it even more slowly with meals included. We’d love to stay again.

    Casual Accommodation

This was my second time staying by Lake Suwa. The first time, the Room was gorgeous, but the meals were disappointing… This time it was described as “casual,” but the price didn’t feel like much of a bargain, so I arrived with mixed feelings—half hopeful, half resigned. The Room had been renovated and faced the lake directly. However, despite having a free-flowing Onsen bath in the Room, it felt almost exactly like an ordinary home bathtub. Even with the lake view, it still felt like bathing at home, which was disappointing. The large public bath had two different hot spring sources, but the open-air bath had a chlorine smell—again disappointing. I heard there was a free-flow option at the bar, but it ended at 5:00 p.m., which meant I couldn’t enjoy it after bathing. As others have mentioned as well, in that case it would be more considerate to have at least some drinks stocked in the in-room refrigerator. The meals were also disappointing after all. We barely managed to get a semi-private space, but everything else was on one open floor and felt noisy—almost like a family restaurant—which wasn’t great. As for the food itself (sorry to say), items like the boxed appetizer platter seemed pre-made; there were a few warm dishes, but even the tempura felt overly greasy, and the main pork dish was too salty—overall just “hmm…” Maybe Lake Suwa simply isn’t a good match for us. Even though areas like the lobby looked lovely, check-in involved standing at reception for a long explanation. I kept thinking it would have been nicer to sit on a sofa and relax with a welcome drink instead—it felt different from what I expected from the start, so everything ended up feeling disappointing.

    We stayed to celebra...

We stayed to celebrate my mother’s 89th birthday. My son decided to join at the last minute, and although we asked for a Room change and other adjustments, the staff handled everything pleasantly and kindly. The view from the Room wasn’t of all of Lake Suwa, but we could see it through the large windows. However, even in April it was cold near the windows, and it felt like the Room heating didn’t quite reach that area. The Room had been renovated and was very comfortable. For my elderly mother, the tatami-style feel like a Ryokan—and having a bed to sleep in—seemed especially appealing. The parking lot is about 100 meters away, but it is located by Sen-nin Buro (the “Thousand-Person Bath”), an Important Cultural Property of Japan, so walking there wasn’t a bother thanks to the classic atmosphere in front of the building. We were satisfied with both the quantity and quality of dinner on both nights. We tried both Japanese- and Western-style breakfasts; the freshly baked bread at breakfast was delicious, including milk bread. Items like sausages were fairly standard. The milk was tasty and served in nostalgic glass bottles—I ended up adding it to my coffee as well. The baths were kept extremely clean. From the open-air bath you could see Lake Suwa even while sitting in the water, making it a wonderful soak. The draft beer after bathing was also great. It was a 3-day/2-night stay, and my mother was very happy—I'm glad we could do something special for her.

Our family of four stayed here for the first time in a while. Both breakfast and dinner were very delicious. The bath was very relaxing, and the draft beer after bathing was great as well, so we were able to unwind. The private bath required an additional fee, but it was free-flowing and wonderfully refreshing.

Perfect for visiting Suwa Taisha Shrine.

I made a last-minute Reservation the day before my stay. I was traveling solo, but chose the renovated Deluxe Modern (Japanese-Western Room), 52 m², for single occupancy. It was huge! With twin beds and even a tatami room spacious enough to lay out three futons, I could truly unwind and relax. The Onsen had two types of baths: a reddish, iron-rich spring and a clear one. I enjoyed the open-air bath while watching the sunset over Lake Suwa. Both dinner and breakfast were served in the restaurant, and thanks to the staff’s attentive yet unobtrusive service, I felt comfortable dining alone. The property was kept very clean throughout, so I’d also recommend it for a girls’ trip.

    Enjoy Lake Suwa

Among the Onsen area, this Hotel is the closest to Lake Suwa. You can enjoy panoramic views of Lake Suwa from the 6th-floor observation bath and the 2nd-floor dining area. We were able to fully enjoy Lake Suwa without even leaving the Hotel. The service was courteous, the complimentary draft beer after bathing was delicious, and the lobby drink service was a nice touch.

A wonderful Hotel with panoramic views of Lake Suwa

The parking lot is a little far away, but they help carry your luggage, so it wasn’t a problem. Soaking at leisure in the open-air bath with brown mineral water and a panoramic view of Lake Suwa made all my fatigue melt away. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious, and I really appreciated the care they took to serve hot dishes hot. True to its name as an annex, I’d love to visit again.

I stayed in a newly renovated modern Japanese.geta-style Room. The Room was clean, bright, spacious, and very comfortable. Fresh flowers were displayed throughout the building, and the hot water was excellent. Perhaps because we visited during a record cold wave, the restaurant felt a bit chilly. It snowed at night, and I really appreciated that they cleared the snow off my car’s windshield the next morning. I would love to visit again.

    The open-air bath was amazing!

On the night of our stay, a light snowfall created a beautiful scene with the outdoor bath surrounded by snow-dusted greenery in the morning. The accommodation, including the guest rooms and entire facility, was impeccably clean and well-maintained. The staff were all exceptionally friendly and welcoming. Meals were plentiful both in the morning and evening; as an elderly guest, I couldn't finish everything, which was a bit regretful. The welcome drink and post-bath beer added to the luxurious experience. Even after checking out, we were kindly allowed to use the parking lot for a while longer to enjoy Katakura-kan's Sennin Bath. Thank you very much!

First-Time Use with No Meals Included

It was my first visit to Suwa, and I had a very comfortable stay at this wonderful accommodation! The staff's hospitality and service were excellent, making me want to return again. If I may make one suggestion... it would have been even better if the post-bath service could be upgraded further. (There was a draft beer distribution service available until 11 PM, but since I don't drink alcohol, I couldn't fully enjoy the benefits of the post-bath service. I intentionally went for a bath after 11 PM instead. For example, distributing apple juice or Yatsugatake milk after bathing could provide non-drinkers with something enjoyable as well, adding an extra touch to the bathing experience.)

    It was a good accommodation.

Stayed in a standard Japanese-style room on a weekday. This accommodation has few rooms with views of Lake Suwa, which initially puzzled me. However, I realized it was because the hotel is shaped like an elongated rectangle, resembling an eel's bed. The view from the Japanese-style room I stayed in was of the staircase of the neighboring hotel. Since I had confirmed beforehand that there would be no view and the room was spacious at 12 tatami mats, it didn’t bother me at all. As for the futon, I fell asleep immediately after lying down, so I don’t remember much about it, but there was no discomfort or feeling of hitting the floor—it was very comfortable to sleep on. The curtains were drawn by hotel staff during futon preparation, so it wasn’t too bright in the morning either. Both breakfast and dinner were extremely delicious! I had some concerns beforehand about whether there would be enough food; however, everyone ended up full and satisfied. The fresh sashimi, wagyu sukiyaki, delicious rice—everything tasted amazing! Thank you also for accommodating children’s needs. The rumored wakasagi tempura served at breakfast was crispy and delightful. The bath experience was also pleasant! Having extra bath towels (more than one per person) provided in our room made it convenient to use fresh towels even for a second bath—this thoughtful touch is much appreciated. All in all, this accommodation offered such a wonderful experience! Thanks to your hospitality, we had an incredibly enjoyable trip. Thank you very much for everything!

Recharge your energy at an Onsen flowing from the Fossa Magna rift.

I stayed here during a business trip, and it was an excellent accommodation. The Suwa Lake Onsen is said to originate from the fissures of the Fossa Magna, allowing me to recharge with Earth's energy. You can enjoy two types of onsen: a reddish onsen from shallow sources and a hot, clear onsen from deeper sources. The interior has been recently renovated, and both the baths and rooms are spotless. The staff were all very kind and welcoming. Although I couldn't have dinner, I thoroughly enjoyed the luxurious Japanese-style breakfast that perfectly complemented the onsen experience. The room was spacious with a tatami mat floor featuring beds—a combination that felt incredibly comfortable.

A refreshing beer after a bath hits the spot.

The parking lot was a bit far, which was slightly disappointing, but the staff's service was excellent. We arrived a little before 3 PM and were able to check in. The room we were assigned was larger than expected. Heading to the Onsen on the 6th floor right away, we enjoyed a stunning view of Lake Suwa and the sunset from the open-air bath. We heard that in August, you can watch fireworks while soaking in the bath. After bathing, unlimited draft beer at the 6th-floor lounge helped quench our thirst. Both dinner and breakfast (with Japanese or Western options) were served in private rooms, allowing us to enjoy delicious meals and conversation with my wife. For breakfast, fried wakasagi fish and sunny-side-up eggs were all-you-can-eat; I couldn't resist getting seconds of the freshly fried wakasagi as they were incredibly tasty. We also received discounted tickets for a Lake Suwa sightseeing cruise, which we used after checking out for an enjoyable trip. Note: During our stay, there was a total lunar eclipse at midnight. Unfortunately, there wasn’t a window to view it from or access outside during that time; however, catching its final moments from the open-air bath made up for it!
