    It would be nice to have at least some water in the Room.

    There was no water provided in the Room, so it was inconvenient to go all the way to what seemed like a lounge just to get drinking water. In the morning, when I went to bathe, the open-air bath was full of insects and I couldn’t remove them with the net, so I gave up. I wish it had been cleaned first thing in the morning.

    I truly relaxed with the forest bathing and the sound of the flowing river.

    It was my first time visiting Tsuchiyu Onsen, and since it was located in Oku-Tsuchiyu Onsen, a bit further into the mountains from the onsen town, I was able to enjoy the soothing sound of the river and the fresh mountain air, which was absolutely wonderful. The staff at the accommodation were all polite, kind, energetic, and warm-hearted; I felt truly healed by their hospitality. My son was deeply impressed by the tea incense burner in our room and delightedly mentioned how its natural fragrance was much better than detergents or sprays like Risesh. The meals were delicious no matter what we had; you could feel they were carefully prepared with great hospitality. Please continue doing your best with your lovely cats!

    Delicious meals that...

    Delicious meals that can be fully enjoyed even when staying alone. Dinner included a compact irori (traditional Japanese hearth), char fish, and frozen mochi. The hot pot was wild boar stew, which was also excellent. The hot spring was delightful as well. I stayed in a room with an open-air bath; although the tub was small, the quality and temperature of the water were perfect, allowing me to relax while enjoying the surrounding views. Being an accommodation in the mountains, it’s understandable that there are many insects entering the premises. Using tape provided in various places, I dealt with stink bugs (they’re here even in April!), ladybugs, and some unidentifiable insects I had never seen before—this added to the unique experience!

    Resident Cat

    The warm hospitality from arrival to departure was wonderful. The staff even prepared tea, showcasing the Ryokan's attention to detail. The cat at the entrance was adorable. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, and I’ve shared some photos. The Onsen left my skin feeling smooth and refreshed—it was truly relaxing. I would love to stay here again in the future. Although it’s a smaller Ryokan, it’s highly recommended for those who appreciate traditional charm. It’s also a great choice for older guests. I hope this review is helpful!

    Meals...

    I booked a room with an open-air bath, which came with a plan including breakfast and dinner. The bath attached to the room was very pleasant, leaving my skin smooth and making me very satisfied. However, the visible presence of mineral deposits in the water made me question its cleanliness despite being harmless to the body. Insects like stink bugs and ladybugs entered the room, so this accommodation might be challenging for those who dislike bugs. As for meals, they were somewhere between "average" and "unpleasant," with no redeeming qualities worth mentioning. Considering the price, there are better hotels or ryokans within Fukushima Prefecture, so unfortunately I cannot recommend this hotel. It might appeal to those who enjoy visiting hidden hot springs. In that case, I suggest choosing a no meals included plan and bringing your own food. Please note that there are no convenience stores or supermarkets nearby, so it’s best to purchase food in advance.

    Open-air bath with plenty of snow

    Visited on a snowy day Enjoyed the extraordinary snowy scenery and Onsen The bath was also fed directly from the source I felt warm long after getting out of the bath The service was pleasant Thank you very much for clearing the snow off the car on the morning of departure I would like to visit again during the lush green season Thank you very much
