    A breathtaking view beyond words

    The property feels even more historic than expected. However, it seems to be very well maintained. Since it was during summer vacation, it was great that they provided an indoor play area and other options. Both breakfast and dinner were excellent. The staff were outstanding. Above all, the breathtaking views are beyond words. I was deeply moved by their beauty—wonderful in a way quite different from the Pacific Ocean.

    A Luxurious Moment with Spectacular Views and a Beautiful Sea

    I visited again for the first time in 10 years. This is an Accommodation I used to visit occasionally in summer since childhood, and over the years I noticed changes with the times—such as the former dining area with live fish tanks and the sushi restaurant being gone, while Rooms with open-air baths have been added. Just as I remembered, the pool where small children can play safely and the wonderful sea—where you can see fish swimming even close to shore—are still there, and we thoroughly enjoyed the crystal-clear water. It’s a fantastic environment for a family summer trip. The nighttime Tsunoshima tour was also memorable; the guide’s explanations were detailed and very interesting. Highly recommended.

    A Proud, Long-Established Tradition

    I had admired Nishinagato Resort ever since I stopped by on a drive 30 years ago. My wish finally came true and I was able to stay there, but because my expectations were so high, I think I may have built it up too much on my own. The building is undeniably aging; the guest rooms had been nicely renovated, but the hallways were not air-conditioned, so we had to move to the sea and the restaurant through warm, stuffy air. The route to the beach also required quite a long walk. The vending machines in the hallway did not accept the new 500-yen coins, which was inconvenient. The buffet offered a wide variety of dishes and was good. Since it was fully booked during Obon, there were lines for both check-in and check-out. Perhaps they take pride in being a long-established hotel, but I think they should introduce self-service check-in kiosks.

    With my grandchild at the beach and the pool.

    This was our first stay, and I stayed with my two grandchildren. It’s hard to find a Hotel where you can enjoy both the pool and the sea, so we chose this one. The Hotel is quite old, but it was well cleaned and well maintained. Meals were buffet-style, but it never felt crowded, the selection was plentiful, and my grandchildren were happy. There were some instant-style items as well, but they said everything tasted great. We stayed for two nights, and there was enough variety at both breakfast and dinner, which I thought was nice. The building and Facility feel dated, but it felt clean overall. There isn’t excessive service, but it feels just right. I’d like to visit again next year.

    The Tsunoshima Bridge right from your Room!

    The Room’s window was floor-to-ceiling glass, offering a great view of the Tsunoshima Bridge. Since it was on the second floor, the Room was fully visible to people walking below… haha. The dinner buffet had a wide variety of dishes, and I couldn’t try them all. There was plenty of seafood, and it was delicious.

    Quite a lot.

    It was disappointing. I knew the Facility was old, but I visited because the buffet had good Reviews. Most disappointing of all was the lack of energy from the staff.

    The Room is in a remote area.

    We stayed with my wife and my 89-year-old mother-in-law. To reach the room, we checked in at the front desk on the 3rd floor, climbed stairs to the 4th floor, walked down a long hallway, descended stairs from the 4th to the 2nd floor, and walked another hallway before finally arriving. My mother-in-law took breaks along the way to reach the room. During check-in, our luggage was transported by cart; however, during check-out, we carried it ourselves. To access the bath from our room, we had to walk back along the same path to the 3rd floor and take an elevator down to the 1st floor. Unfortunately, this made it difficult for us to enjoy multiple visits to the bath.

    Enjoy Tsunoshima

    The sunset view from the large public bath is breathtaking. You can enjoy a star-filled sky on the Tsunoshima Night Tour, and there is a free Shuttle Service to Shin-Shimonoseki, which is very convenient. The premium guest rooms with open-air baths are spacious and clean, with well-maintained water temperature for comfort. Although the Facility shows signs of aging due to its seaside location, the scenery was outstanding.

    The accommodation cost over 100,000 yen per night, but there were no drinks in the refrigerator, and the bathroom amenities were very cheap. I was looking forward to it, but I can't help but feel that the pricing must be a mistake. I don't think I'll ever go back.

    I have stayed at various hotels, but the Nishinagato Resort Hotel was the best. Dinner buffet with an all-you-can-drink option for 2,000 yen and an additional 1,000 yen for live abalone grilling. The room had a terrace with an open-air bath. The breakfast buffet was also absolutely wonderful. I was impressed by the variety and effort put into the dishes. I will visit again next year to refresh myself!

    I visited from the Kanto region, eager to stay in the newly renovated room. While the hotel itself felt a bit dated, the renovated room was stylish with a resort-like vibe, and I was soothed by the ocean view, which was truly stunning. However, the bathroom in the room had not been renovated and remained old-fashioned, dimly lit, and somewhat unsettling—creating a stark contrast with the rest of the room. It seems that emphasis is placed on using the main public bath rather than individual bathrooms in rooms. Still, it felt odd that only part of the accommodation had been updated while leaving such an important feature untouched. Additionally, there were signs of insufficient cleaning: a razor cap likely left by a previous guest remained in place, and several pieces of double-sided tape were still stuck to walls. Honestly speaking, there are many accommodations in Kanto offering better facilities and dining quality for similar prices. Overall, I felt this did not provide value for money. The meals also lacked quality to satisfy adults' expectations and were disappointing as well.

However, for those looking to enjoy the summer beach, this could be the perfect seaside retreat. It would be great if more information about activities were provided in advance so guests could prepare with minimal luggage. The activities turned out to be more affordable than expected, but due to high preconceptions from limited information, I hesitated and missed out on some experiences—something I regretted later. The night tour was breathtaking; the stars looked like a planetarium and left me deeply moved. The staff's hospitality was pleasant overall, making it a memorable hotel experience. While the food was average compared to expectations, watching the sunset during dinner created lasting memories. Since the washing machine is located in the bathroom area, having coin laundry facilities—even for an additional fee—might make things easier for guests when leaving. I traveled with my elderly father who found this large hotel nostalgic as it reminded him of past trips during his younger years from the bubble era; he enjoyed sharing his travel stories with us happily throughout our stay. This place is also highly recommended for three-generation family trips!

    The view was excellent.

    I visited Tsunoshima for the first time. It's a bit out of the way, but the blue sea and sky were stunning. The buffet food was delicious, and the reasonable prices made it clear why it's popular with families.

    After a long journey...

    After a long journey transferring between the Shinkansen, local trains, and a rental car, we finally arrived at the Hotel. However, no one came to greet us at the entrance. Looking inside, we noticed the staff were chatting with their backs turned to us. It was only when we started unloading our luggage ourselves that they noticed us. I thought it was normal to park by ourselves, but when my husband returned from the parking lot, he was soaked from a sudden rain shower. He had hoped someone would bring him an umbrella. The Room with beds was spacious and comfortable with a pleasant view. Meals were served buffet-style. The flavors felt a bit strong for our taste due to our age, but it might be expected. The outdoor bath in the onsen was very beautiful and offered stunning views as well. Although I felt like giving fewer stars than usual because of my initial impression not being great...

    Best View!

    I stayed for 2 nights, and the view from the Room was amazing. The Tsunoshima Bridge, often featured in TV commercials, is right in front of you. Once you see that emerald blue scenery, you'll definitely want to visit again. The buffet for dinner and breakfast had a wide variety of dishes and was very satisfying.

    Watch out for deer on the road at night.

    Although we arrived quite late due to traveling from another prefecture, we were still able to enjoy the Onsen. The open-air bath was very relaxing. The room was assigned by the hotel, and we were grateful to have a Japanese-style room with a view of Tsunoshima Bridge. With large windows and great weather, we could enjoy the beautiful sea and Tsunoshima Bridge. The futon on tatami mats was thick and comfortable, and the pillow felt nice as well. While the facility is somewhat old, there were unpleasant odors in certain areas, which was unfortunate. Perhaps using some aromatherapy could help? That said, it’s a hotel I would like to visit again. Thank you very much!

    Relaxing Getaway for Couples

    It was my first stay in a while. Although the facility shows signs of aging, it was clean and I had a pleasant stay. I got married at the church here 36 years ago, so I wanted to see inside the church.     I have stayed here occasionally since long before the bridge was built, seeking solace in the scenery. However, upon my recent visit after a long time, I felt that the place has become quite rough. The buffet meals, though creatively designed in terms of menu, are rushed and served in cramped seating areas, making it unsuitable for dinner due to uneven flooring in the restaurant. In the past, I could enjoy a calm course meal experience—perhaps this change is due to staff shortages? While Yamaguchi Prefecture offers other excellent sake brands, relying solely on Dassai seems like an easy choice. Although the facility's age cannot be helped, given its prime location, I hope it continues operating with aspirations of becoming a classic hotel resort.

    A classic and charming Hotel

    The Hotel had a nostalgic charm, both good and bad. The good kind of old-fashioned feel added character (and there are many such aspects), which I hope they preserve. However, there seems to be room for improvement, like updating the beds. The service and meals were satisfactory—not exceptional but not disappointing either. Still, the atmosphere was relaxing and allowed me to unwind. There were no delays at meals or the front desk. The open-air bath was incredibly refreshing, and the location was excellent. I appreciated the architecture and design of the building and rooms. I even thought about wanting to see the keychain attached to the Room key turned into a product! Overall satisfaction was high, and I truly liked this Hotel. I would love to visit again someday—thank you very much!

    Stay in a twin room with a view of Tsunoshima Bridge; the scenery from the hotel is excellent. The facility, including the rooms, is overall old. Some rooms are far from the front desk or onsen. If renovated, prices may increase and make it less accessible for families—perhaps it's fine as it is now. The buffet food was very delicious, and the onsen was fantastic!

    Newly Renovated Beautiful Room

    Rooms with open-air baths offering stunning views. The bath also overlooks the sea, making it so relaxing you'll want to stay in forever. The water was slightly lukewarm, so a bit higher temperature would have been appreciated. Above all, the meals were delicious and made this trip truly memorable.

    I had passed by several times on my trips to Tsunoshima, but this time I decided to stay. The view is spectacular.     The sofa cover in the room was yellowed and smelled, lacking a sense of cleanliness. I expected the seafood to be fresh since we were near the sea, but it was somewhat disappointing.     We used Hotel Nishinagato Resort for a parent-child trip. The winter scenery from the hotel is different from the lively summer feel, but it is picturesque and wonderful. Both breakfast and dinner were plentiful and varied, and every dish was delicious. The cleanliness of the changing room was also pleasing, and we thoroughly enjoyed the onsen and open-air bath.     We stayed as a family! We were thrilled with the wide variety of buffets while enjoying the view of the Tsunoshima Bridge! There was one indoor bath and one open-air bath, both spacious and offering a great view of the sea, making for a very pleasant experience! We would love to stay again!

    I was very satisfied!

    I was scheduled to stay from New Year's Day, but unfortunately, my husband fell ill and we couldn't stay properly. However, I and my children were able to enjoy the buffet, the onsen, and the view from the room, so it was good. Thank you for kindly accommodating us without any unpleasant expressions despite the sudden illness! I would definitely like to use it again if there is an opportunity.
