We were extremely satisfied.
It was a lovely, relaxing Accommodation. When my shoes got soaked in the heavy rain and I didn’t know what to do, you kindly took care of them separately, so I was able to go sightseeing the next day without any discomfort. Thank you very much. The food was also delicious, and for just the two of us (my daughter and me) it was quite a lot—but it was so good that we ate it all. Just one thing… Since the forecast low temperature was in the low 20s °C, I turned off the air conditioner before going to sleep, but I ended up drenched in sweat. I turned it back on and got back into bed, but because the yukata fabric was fairly thick, it still felt hot. Thinking about it calmly afterward, this is a cold area in winter, so I completely forgot that the Room would be well insulated. Still, it’s an Accommodation I’d love to visit again.

Delicious food and a clean Room.
It was a Plan with two meals included for 25,000 yen. Although there was construction underway, it did not affect the Room at all. The tatami mats were new, and the washbasin was clean. When I informed them in advance about foods I couldn’t eat, they accommodated me and I was able to enjoy the meal. Both dinner and breakfast had many dishes and were delicious. The Onsen water felt gentle and very relaxing. I would like to stay again!

My first time in Ikaho!
From the moment we arrived at the Accommodation, the staff’s courteous guidance at the entrance was very pleasant, and the explanations during check-in were easy to understand. It felt great to be able to walk around inside barefoot or in tabi socks. The Onsen was a great impression—the large public bath was kept very clean. Dinner was simply luxurious, and I enjoyed more beer than usual and left fully satisfied. The open-air bath on the rooftop had an amazing sense of openness, and soaking while gazing at the stars was the best. Breakfast the next morning was also satisfying. The view from our Room was wonderful as well. Above all, this was an outstanding Accommodation that left a lasting impression thanks to all the staff’s kind and attentive hospitality. I would definitely like to stay again. Thank you very much.

A wonderful Accommodation with a nostalgic Showa-era atmosphere
The building is about a five-minute walk from Ikaho’s famous Stone Steps Street. Since it connects right around the midpoint of the 365 steps (around step 180), we arrived a little early and were allowed to park our car in the parking lot. After enjoying various local foods along Stone Steps Street, we checked in. The ropeway station is also just across the street, less than a one-minute walk away. You can take in a magnificent panoramic view of the mountains along the Joetsu border. This Ryokan is perfectly located for fully enjoying Ikaho. As soon as we entered, the staff kindly guided us, and we were shown to our Room without any waiting time. You can choose your yukata from a selection you like. The building shows its age, but everything was thoroughly cleaned and the baths were comfortable. Amenities such as makeup remover, facial cleanser, toner, and emulsion are well stocked, so I think you don’t need to bring anything besides a change of clothes and your own cosmetics. We booked the plan with breakfast and dinner included. Dinner was excellent—hors d’oeuvres that would be hard to recreate at home and very fresh sashimi. For the Akagi beef sukiyaki, I don’t like raw egg, so I simmered it together instead—and it was incredibly delicious. My husband ate his with raw egg as usual. The meat was tender, and we finished everything while savoring each bite. Afterward we felt uncomfortably full whether standing or lying down—so we were extremely satisfied. Breakfast was also very filling! There were plenty of fish, pickles, soup, and all kinds of rice accompaniments. They also had TKG (rice with raw egg), but since I can’t eat raw egg, I asked them the day before and they served me a boiled egg instead. Much appreciated! The thick salmon had been carefully deboned as well—it was a meal that showed thoughtful attention to detail. The homemade yogurt was delicious too. There is a large public bath on the 1st floor and an open-air bath on the 8th floor. The smaller open-air bath didn’t have rinse showers so we came out as-is; however, when we used the larger open-air bath the next morning it did have showers so you can rinse off properly. The water is slightly hot—in just the right way—and the view is outstanding! The larger open-air bath was so wonderful you’d be missing out if you didn’t try it at least once. If you want to wash first, use the amenity-rich large public bath on 1F first, then head up to enjoy both open-air baths on 8F. Although there is currently construction underway, personally it didn’t bother me—there was only some noise echoing slightly around evening time. When leaving, their elegant proprietress (okami) and staff saw us off warmly. Overall this Ryokan exceeded our expectations! We’d love to visit again.

I was able to relax and feel refreshed at this quiet Accommodation.
Although this was a great-value Plan due to ongoing construction, we didn’t notice it at all in our Room on the 7th floor and were able to relax. The Room had been beautifully renovated, and both dinner and breakfast were very delicious. It was also nice that the property is close to the stone steps, making it easy to go for a walk. It was a bit disappointing that some Facility areas such as the large public bath felt somewhat dated, but since our Room had an Onsen with a great view, we enjoyed it many times. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

This is my first time using your service.
I was looking for an Accommodation to visit Ikaho’s Stone Steps Street, and happened to find this Accommodation offering a discount, so I stayed here for the first time! I was searching for a place with an open-air bath in the Room, and Room 701 where we stayed exceeded my expectations—the Onsen in the Room was spacious, the washing area was easy to use, and the terrace was amazing! Above all, the in-room amenities were thoughtfully prepared from a guest’s perspective, and I was truly moved by your hospitality. The three of us—my father, mother, and I—stayed together, and the layout was convenient; even when changing clothes I could relax without worrying about my father lol. I’ve stayed at many Accommodations with open-air baths in the Rooms before, but this one is by far the best! This time we booked No Meals Included and didn’t use dining services, but next time I’d definitely like to try your meals. The only reason I deducted one star for service relates to car handling. I understand that moving cars once may be unavoidable, but since it seemed they also drove it again just to move it during unloading from a kei truck, I felt uncomfortable with leaving my key with staff. So I hope there will be a proper place where guests can park themselves. Other than that, there wasn’t a single negative point—everything else was great! At check-out (perhaps because of the season), we even received a potted carnation as a gift, which made my mother very happy! Thank you very much for everything!

Perfect for a girls’ trip! A wonderful Accommodation with amazing Rooms, meals, and an Onsen.
We chose this Accommodation for a moms’ girls trip for two! ・Room I picked it because I loved the atmosphere, and it exceeded my expectations! Everything was clean, the bed was fluffy, and the wall design and sofa were amazing—such a great vibe overall. The in-room Onsen was spacious enough to fully relax if you’re alone. It was honestly too small for two friends to soak together, so when we wanted to chat while bathing, we used the open-air bath on the 8th floor. (LOL) It seems perfect for couples or families! The hair dryer was ReFa. The provided horse-oil shampoo, conditioner, and body soap also smelled wonderful. ・Meals Very generous portions! Everything was delicious! But it’s a lot of food for women. (LOL) It tasted so good that it felt wasteful to leave anything behind, so I’d love a girls’ plan with fewer dishes/smaller portions at a more affordable price! ・Onsen The open-air bath on the 8th floor switches between men and women at night and in the morning. It’s nice being able to enjoy different views. They even had rain hats (maybe?) for when it rains. (LOL) We had fun wearing them while soaking. (LOL) The in-room Onsen warmed me up from the core even in a short time and left me feeling refreshed. ・Facility There were complimentary drinks in the fridge: Ikaho Hopp beer, plus grapefruit juice and lemon juice. The lobby was under construction, but it didn’t bother us at all. It was still chilly seasonally, and I forgot my coat—but they lent me a fleece jacket at the Accommodation! I gratefully borrowed it and climbed the Ikaho stone steps. We came by car, and even before check-in they let us leave our luggage and took care of parking/moving our car for us—so we didn’t have to use paid parking nearby, which was quietly appreciated. ・Overall review The staff were warm and welcoming—this is an Accommodation I’d definitely like to stay at again! I want to come with family next time, and also with friends again.

It was a wonderful accommodation.
We stayed for one night and two days. Although it is a Japanese-style Room, it was clean and spacious, and we were able to relax comfortably. The best impression was the way everyone treated us during meals. The manner of speaking and overall service were excellent, making the delicious food even more enjoyable. In particular, the female staff member was very attentive and provided truly pleasant service. (Thank you for the spoon.) The open-air bath was also at a comfortable temperature, and together with the scenery it was wonderful. This time we stayed at a reasonable price, but when we travel to Ikaho again, we would like to stay here once more. Thank you very much to everyone at the Accommodation.

The service and the food were excellent.
Although we arrived on a rainy day, we were able to leave the car at the main entrance and check in smoothly, which really helped us keep our luggage dry. The Room was spacious and spotless, and we were impressed by the thoughtful touches—such as an extension cord provided—so charging our phones was never an issue. The only small concern was whether the toilet exhaust fan was working properly. The hotel is barefoot indoors, but socks were provided along with the yukata, which made it very comfortable. The open-air bath had rain hats available, so even on a rainy day we could enjoy a wonderfully atmospheric soak amid the steam. The food was far better than expected and perfectly portioned, and the additional horse sashimi and salted seafood were also outstanding. There seemed to be many international staff members, but their Japanese was very fluent and we had no trouble at all. Breakfast was especially delicious—the egg-over-rice and vegetables served with red shiso ponzu were amazing. It’s also just a short walk to the stone steps, so we enjoyed a stroll even after checkout. It was a wonderful stay that left both our stomachs and hearts full. We would love to visit again once the renovation is complete—and next time, I plan to buy some red shiso ponzu to take home.

The open-air bath is amazing!
The staff were excellent everywhere—from outside the entrance to the lobby and the dining area. For breakfast, we enjoyed both rice porridge and rice with raw egg, and a rice tub was placed on the table. There were plenty of side dishes as well. Dinner included a miso-flavored hot pot, and the meat was tender and delicious. The view from the open-air bath was wonderful, and in the morning we were able to take our time enjoying the sunrise.

Great view
There is an open-air bath on the top floor with a great view. However, it may be fully visible from some buildings in the distance, so some consideration for privacy may be needed. The meal portions were neither too much nor too little. Overall, the food seemed on the salty side. Guests walk barefoot inside the building. It was under renovation, so it will likely be nicely refreshed going forward. It’s about a 5-minute walk to Ikaho Onsen’s famous stone steps—an excellent location for a stroll.

A highly satisfying accommodation overall
Overall Rating This was an Accommodation with a very high level of satisfaction overall. There were a few points I noticed, so I’m sharing them for reference. Points of Concern - The bathroom shower diverter lever was stiff, and the handle was small, making it difficult to operate. - The air-conditioning operating noise was somewhat loud at times and could be noticeable. - It would be great if guests could choose the size of the samue loungewear. - During a Multiple Night Stay, it would be appreciated if the welcome drink and in-room refrigerator beverages could also be replenished (I really loved the Ikaho Hop and wanted to enjoy another one). - The red shiso ponzu was delicious and I wanted to purchase it, but it was unfortunately out of stock. What Was Great - The meals were excellent, and we were able to enjoy them at a relaxed pace in a private dining room. - For our Multiple Night Stay, you provided variety in both cooking methods and menus, so we never got tired of the meals and truly enjoyed them. - When I mentioned that I couldn’t eat steak due to personal reasons, you kindly accommodated us by switching to sukiyaki, which was very helpful. - When I told you it was my birthday stay, the attendant sang a birthday song for me—I was deeply moved by such warm hospitality. Summary Although there were some minor points, this was a wonderful Accommodation where we truly felt genuine hospitality through attentive service and delicious cuisine. After the front desk and shop renovations are complete, I would love to visit again.

Relax and unwind.
During a break from work, I went on a trip with my husband and son as a way to make up for not being able to relax during the New Year holidays. The room had comfortable chairs where we could sit and enjoy the view of the Onsen town. I spent time reading a book while enjoying tea and sweets. In the evening, we strolled along the stone-paved streets, worked up a light sweat, and then headed to the bath! I soaked in an open-air bath full of refreshing openness for 30 minutes. Then enjoyed an indoor bath and sauna. It warmed me to my core and was truly healing. Next came dinner. Every dish reflected thoughtful hospitality, with gentle flavors that brought out the best in each ingredient—both delicious and satisfying in portion size. This trip was also to celebrate my son's coming-of-age milestone. We cherished relaxing family moments while admiring flowers arranged beautifully in our room. We will definitely visit again—thank you very much!

First stay at Ikaho Onsen. Glad to have stayed here.
I stayed in mid-January. Being from Saitama Prefecture, I have always loved the atmosphere of Ikaho Onsen, including the stone steps street, and have visited frequently in the past. After living abroad and spending time in Fukuoka for a few years, I stopped by Ikaho Onsen during my long-awaited return home. This was my first overnight stay as I had only used day-trip services before. While deciding on accommodations, I was drawn to the room descriptions of Washinoyado Omori and decided to book a stay. The detailed pros and cons of each room were thoughtfully listed, which left a strong impression on me as it was very helpful. I was completely satisfied with everything—the room, yukata, ambiance of the accommodation, and hospitality. The meals served for breakfast and dinner were especially delicious; thanks to the warm interactions with the staff members, we enjoyed them even more. This time I wanted to introduce Ikaho Onsen to my Korean girlfriend, so we visited together. Staying at this accommodation made our time at Ikaho Onsen truly special. It’s such a wonderful place that I would love to recommend it to those close to me!

We stayed for one ni...
We stayed for one night as a family. The guest room was clean and well-maintained. However, it was disappointing that there were no slippers provided either in the room or within the facility, and we had to move around wearing sock-like footwear provided as amenities. Does this mean we have to use the same socks after visiting the public bath? The meals, both breakfast and dinner, were delicious. However, when I informed them over the phone in advance about ingredients I needed to avoid due to health reasons, they responded politely and suggested alternatives. Unfortunately, only some of these changes were actually made during our stay. When I unknowingly ate a small portion of an unaltered dish, staff rushed over to apologize but continued serving meals with those ingredients afterward. If this had been an allergy issue, it could have been very serious. Additionally, it seemed that restaurant staff were not informed about why these changes were necessary beforehand. It was also disappointing that no manager came out to apologize; instead, only the staff who served us addressed the matter. Furthermore, the alcohol vending machine only accepted old 1,000 yen bills. When we went to request change at reception, their attitude was poor and they exchanged only a small amount for us. The warm welcome upon arrival left us with high expectations; however, there were many aspects of our stay that fell short of satisfaction overall.

Small touches like single flower vases placed here and there created a relaxing atmosphere. The charmingly written explanations about Omori's history and the notes provided during dinner and breakfast added to the enjoyment.

It was a very comfortable trip.
The accommodation offers a nostalgic atmosphere while maintaining exceptionally clean and well-organized interiors and guest rooms, combining the charm of retro and modern styles for a comfortable stay. Walking barefoot inside the facility is pleasant, and the tatami flooring even in the elevator was a delightful surprise. The private rooftop open-air bath provides an exclusive experience, which was highly satisfying. Additionally, enjoying the regular open-air bath in the morning with its stunning views was truly impressive. The staff were very courteous, ensuring a comfortable stay until the very end.

Highly recommended accommodation!
The building is old, but the interior has been renovated and is very clean. The entire accommodation features tatami flooring, which feels wonderful. The room was spacious, and the cypress bath offered a great view and was very comfortable! It would be perfect if even the non-smoking rooms had a seating area in Japanese-style. The staff seemed well-trained, and their service at the private dining area was particularly polite and warm. I also enjoyed reading the paper provided during meals that detailed the history of the accommodation. Both dinner and breakfast were incredibly delicious (the portions are quite large). The baths were excellent as well, especially the open-air bath on the 8th floor with its stunning views—it felt amazing. The location is convenient for accessing Ishidan Street immediately, and they allow you to leave your car until 11 AM after check-out so you can enjoy a morning stroll. Overall, it was an extremely satisfying trip! I highly recommend this accommodation to everyone.

Delicious cuisine and exceptional baths!
Recently, I used IKYU.com to make a Reservation and enjoyed an Onsen trip with my former colleagues after a long time. One of them had just recovered from an illness, and their request was to stay at Ikaho Onsen "Omori." It was my first time staying there, but I was extremely satisfied. The food was delicious, and the service by the staff was excellent, making it a very enjoyable experience. Since everyone except me enjoys drinking alcohol, the food felt slightly insufficient for them. We added maitake tempura as an extra dish—it was amazing! One of my companions seemed to love the grilled ayu fish so much that they wanted to order more! The dining area also adjusted spacing and timing between guests since it was a weekday, allowing us to relax comfortably. The Room had two types of pillows; I loved the firm one and slept deeply—perfect for a summer break! Although checkout time was 10 AM, we managed to enjoy another soak in the rooftop open-air bath after breakfast. The Onsen experience was truly fulfilling. I also used the open-air bath late at night—it felt so liberating and refreshing! Next time, I’d like to bring my parents along for another visit. Thank you for your hospitality!

The view from the open-air bath is breathtaking.
The rooftop open-air bath offers an amazing view. Although it was a very hot day, the morning was cool, and I could relax and enjoy the scenery while soaking in the Onsen. The staff were very cheerful and provided kind assistance. The food was delicious with just the right portions, and I especially enjoyed comparing local sake varieties. If I had to point out an area for improvement, sitting on floor chairs in the Japanese-style room for long periods was tough for someone with back pain. Having low chairs like those used during meals would be helpful.

This was my first time visiting Ikaho Onsen. The meals were delicious. However, I was a bit disappointed that I couldn't go directly from the indoor bath to the open-air bath. It felt a bit dark since there was no view of the outside.

Thank you for your patronage.
Close to the stone steps street, it was convenient to take a stroll after dinner. I appreciated the friendly illustrated signs placed around the Ryokan, providing information about its history and small guides in an easy-to-understand way. I used the rooftop open-air bath during daylight hours, and soaking under the unobstructed blue sky was incredibly refreshing and liberating!

A wholesome breakfast for your body and mind
The Plan included breakfast only, but the breakfast was incredibly delicious. It featured rice, vegetables, and eggs from Gunma Prefecture, offering a traditional Japanese breakfast experience. Every dish paired perfectly with the rice, and I even went for a second serving. As someone who enjoys having rice and miso soup for breakfast while traveling, this meal was delightful. The wholesome breakfast and the heartfelt handwritten menu brought comfort to both my body and soul. Thank you very much!

Overall, it was great.
Close to the stone steps, with satisfying service and meals. However, it was disappointing to find a stink bug when opening the shoji in the guided Room, and discovering a dead insect inside what seemed to be new tabi socks provided in a bag. Improvements desired: Please consider placing tissues or cotton swabs at least in the open-air bath on the 8th floor.

Relax with your family
At the end of last year, I became captivated by the Onsen in Ikaho and visited immediately. This time, I chose Omori-san, which was featured on TV for its highly praised meals. The Property had no slippers inside, allowing for a relaxed and leisurely stay, making it very family-friendly. If I had one request, it would be regarding the preparation of the Joshu beef shabu-shabu. I felt it might have been even more delicious if it had been served midway through the meal rather than being prepared from the start. That said, it was absolutely delicious!
