    Adult Getaway

    This was my second stay. Last time was a solo trip, and this time I invited a friend to stay before our Chikubu Island cruise. The hotel has a calm and mature atmosphere, and all the staff maintained a comfortable distance while providing thoughtful care. Thanks to them, I had another relaxing and peaceful stay. I had already made my own reservation for the cruise ship in advance, but the front desk kindly changed it to a discounted voucher for guests. Next time, I'll make sure to request this when completing the hotel reservation. After returning from Chikubu Island, we also enjoyed lunch at the hotel's Italian restaurant. The carefully prepared dishes were delicious, and despite the excellent service, it was very reasonably priced—highly satisfying and highly recommended! This is an accommodation I’d love to visit again on a leisurely holiday!

    A wonderful Hotel!

    This is a stylishly designed hotel. Not only the exterior but also the warm and kind hospitality made my stay very satisfying. The comfort I experienced when I stayed here about two years ago left a lasting impression, so I chose to stay here again this time. Coincidentally, it was the day of the Nagahama Fireworks Festival, and I was very lucky to be able to watch fireworks launched from Lake Biwa right from my room! I am deeply grateful for the exceptional care provided by all the hotel staff.

    The meals were delicious.

    I booked a plan with two meals included. The main dish of the Italian dinner was duck, which was tender and very delicious. I also enjoyed the local beer and recommended wine, which suited my taste perfectly. It was my first visit to Shiga, so I was delighted to see Lake Biwa from the room window and the large public bath. While I noticed some signs of aging in the facility, I would rate it 4 stars for that aspect. Overall, it was a highly satisfying stay at a cost-effective hotel. This time, I didn't have time to board the ship departing right in front of the hotel, so I'd love to stay here again someday and take that ride!

    Satisfied.

    The atmosphere was clean, calm, and not overly extravagant. We chose BBQ for dinner, and the quality of the meat and portion size were more than satisfying for us. My wife secretly arranged a surprise birthday cake for me, which was delicious, and we appreciated the thoughtful touches with the plates and tea. The breakfast tableware also reflected great taste. My spouse and I agreed that we would love to stay here again.

    The charcoal-grilled steak was especially delicious.

    I enjoyed the standard Italian course. The front desk staff were very kind, and I was able to get a 10% discount on the Chikubushima cruise for the next day. The bath area is a bit small with only four faucets, but it includes an open-air jacuzzi, which was satisfying. Every dish at dinner was delicious; the braised beef shank in white wine was exceptional, and the pasta sauce was delightful. The charcoal-grilled steak had perfectly balanced seasoning. Breakfast offered both Japanese and Western options, though I felt there could have been more variety. Like dinner, the bread served was exceptionally tasty.

    The quality of meals has declined.

    I frequently use this accommodation for work purposes and have stayed here over 10 times as of August this year. I decided to write a review in hopes it might contribute to facility improvements. I am satisfied with the staff's service, but my dissatisfaction lies solely with the breakfast. The quality of the meals has significantly declined. It is truly disappointing (items like truffle soup and shrimp dumplings are no longer available). Additionally, the venue has changed from an excellent location offering a stunning view of Lake Biwa to an unremarkable first or sometimes second floor with no enjoyable scenery, similar to a business hotel. These two points are genuinely regrettable. While I won't name them, I tried staying at nearby hotels three times as a comparison. Their breakfast venues offered satisfying views and meal quality, making me feel more content there at present. However, as a fan of this North Biwako Hotel, I hope for improvements and plan to stay here a little longer while supporting you.

    The price was reasonable, and we ordered an Italian course dinner, which was delicious. Since it was close to my girlfriend's birthday, I mentioned it in the remarks section, and we received many thoughtful gestures. She was very happy, making it a pleasant trip.

    We used this accommodation for our trip around Shiga from Hyogo. Located at the midpoint of our journey and offered at a reasonable price, we made the Reservation. The meals, Onsen, and the Room with a view of Lake Biwa provided value beyond its cost. We would love to stay here again.

    I stayed in a Japane...

    I stayed in a Japanese-style Room with No Meals Included. It was disappointing that the space with the table and floor chairs was not tatami but wooden flooring. Other than that, I had no particular complaints. The Room was clean, and the staff provided polite service. The bath on the 7th floor was also clean, and I enjoyed a pleasant soak while admiring the view of Lake Biwa. However, the bath (on the 7th floor) is not very large, and there are only a few washing areas, so it might feel inconvenient if crowded. Fortunately, it wasn't crowded during my stay, so I was satisfied.

    The Facility is old, but the hospitality is excellent.

    It was my first time using this service. I made a same-day Reservation, and it was reasonably priced and satisfactory. The assigned Room had an old, nostalgic National refrigerator with a motor sound that gave a sense of its age. After check-in, they kindly drove me to the station, allowing me to enjoy Kurokabe Square without being exhausted by the heat—much appreciated! Both the front desk staff and restaurant staff provided excellent service, which made my stay very satisfying. One small request would be to ensure there are no short hairs stuck on the bathroom ceiling for an even more comfortable experience.

    A Hotel Loved by the Community

    I visited on Sunday. On that day, local gatherings and parties were held throughout the day and night, showcasing how this hotel has been cherished by the community for a long time. The maisonette-style suite room shown to us before check-in was incredibly attractive and impressive. Being able to stay in such a room for around 30,000 yen is highly appealing in terms of cost performance. This time, as my child is still young, we stayed in a Japanese-style room, which was also very comfortable. The nearby yakitori restaurant recommended by your staff was lively and served delicious food. I truly appreciate the great recommendation. Although my child felt unwell during the night and caused some inconvenience, the night staff responded promptly and kindly, which was extremely helpful. I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude once again. At breakfast at the Italian restaurant the next morning, we enjoyed dishes made with local ingredients such as mackerel somen noodles and Omi beef curry. It was a delightful moment that allowed us to experience Shiga's charm. The Caprese salad was also excellent. I later learned that you offer BBQ with views of Lake Biwa. On our next visit to Nagahama, I would love to try it out!

    Pleasant service and delicious breakfast

    I had a comfortable stay with pleasant service and delicious breakfast. The location is a short walk from Nagahama Station, near the port where sightseeing boats to Chikubu Island depart. A brief walk also takes you to Nagahama Castle, and I was soothed by the plum trees in the park and the lakeside scenery. Overall, while the building and Facility are aging, they are well-maintained with no discomfort. The highlight was definitely the breakfast; the soup in particular was exceptionally delicious. The staff's service was excellent, making me want to visit this Hotel again.

    The meals were absolutely fantastic.

    I chose this hotel near Lake Biwa for its promising cuisine, and it turned out to be an excellent decision. Overall, I was very satisfied, especially with the lobster pasta and zeppole for dinner, as well as the truffle cream soup for breakfast. Additionally, the afternoon tea at the salon was exceptional. Beyond the meals, the location is convenient—within walking distance from the station and close to tourist attractions like Nagahama Castle and Keiunkan. The view of Lake Biwa from the breakfast venue was stunning. While some parts of the facility felt slightly dated, everything was clean, and both the room and bath were satisfactory. Unfortunately, I could only stay one night this time. On my next visit, I hope to enjoy lunch, café offerings, or Japanese cuisine as well!

    As a Diamond Member of IKYU, I stay at hotels and ryokans more than five times a month for both leisure and business trips. However, even considering it was the weekend, I found no value in paying 26,000 yen for a twin room without meals. Frankly speaking, I am puzzled as to why the reviews are so highly rated. The building is noticeably aging, with scratches all over the room and mold on the ceiling of the public bath. If renovations or rebuilding are planned soon, it might be understandable; otherwise, improvements are needed. At the very least, replacing outdated vinyl slippers would be appreciated. Although there is some distance from the station to this accommodation, shuttle service availability seems uncertain depending on timing. Nagahama is lively during the day but becomes too quiet at night—perhaps due to a lack of good hotels in the area. Given this experience, I would consider staying at a business hotel in Hikone or Tsuruga instead—or even traveling further to Otsu for better options.

    Meals are highly rated.

    This hotel seems to mainly cater to local banquet needs. I checked in at 3:00 PM on a Sunday, coinciding with the end of a wedding reception. The entrance was crowded with slightly tipsy guests, and even the car drop-off area in front of the hotel (not near the banquet hall) was filled with people and cars in a chaotic manner typical of rural areas where everyone knows each other. Staff and shuttle service drivers ignored arriving guests and did nothing about the inconvenience caused by parked cars or people chatting without moving their vehicles. It might be best to avoid this hotel on weekends or holidays when weddings are likely held. Dinner was satisfying, and breakfast was also good; however, staff did not clear trays from finished meals promptly, leaving window-side seats messy despite being unoccupied. The facility is generally old but well-maintained, including a large public bath that is not an Onsen but has an Onsen-like atmosphere. Having only one room key per room is inconvenient. Considering its affordable price point, overall value for money—including location—is excellent for this hotel.

    I was able to relax.

    I stayed here for one night to see the illumination of the Nagahama Bonbai Exhibition. Since the main purpose was the illumination, I chose this hotel because it was within walking distance without much expectation, but it turned out to be a great decision. The room was a standard twin type, but it was spacious and easy to use, with cute chairs and wallpaper that reminded me of the movie Amélie. Since it was the last day of a long weekend, there were few people around, and I could relax in the large public bath. The Italian dinner at night exceeded my expectations in deliciousness. If I had to say something negative, perhaps due to fewer guests staying overnight, breakfast wasn't served in a room with a lake view but rather in one without windows. The day after the holiday was sunny, so I would have liked to see the lake while dining here. Other than that, I am very satisfied and would like to stay here again if I have another chance to visit Nagahama. Thank you very much.

    The food is delicious!

    It was convenient to walk to the venue of the Bonbai Exhibition. I was delighted that both dinner and breakfast included local dishes such as mackerel somen. It was also fun to eat Biwako Blue pizza on the day we arrived. The large public bath is not an Onsen, but I was satisfied with being able to enjoy the jacuzzi while looking at the sky. The staff were also kind. I would like to stay again if I have the opportunity. Thank you very much.

    Breakfast with a view of Lake Biwa

    We used the plan with breakfast included for an overnight stay before visiting Gran Snow Okuibuki Ski Resort. The breakfast was a buffet at a venue with a panoramic view of Lake Biwa. It was delicious. All the staff were kind and made our stay comfortable.

    I was delighted to be warmly welcomed by the staff from the moment I arrived at the hotel. Since it was a snowy day, I spent a relaxing time enjoying the view of Lake Biwa from my room, taking a nap, and warming up in the large public bath. The breakfast venue was also splendid, and the buffet was delicious, so I was glad I opted for the breakfast included plan. I heard that shuttle service to Nagahama Station is available at certain times, and I was grateful for the assistance, especially since it was snowing. I would love to visit again in the summer.

    On your wedding anniversary

    We stayed at the Property for our wedding anniversary. For dinner, we enjoyed a luxurious course meal at Ristorante Sviazza. Starting with fried snow crab, followed by seafood soup (I couldn't remember the fancy name), pasta, Omi beef, and more—everything was delicious and left us completely satisfied. Thank you for taking our photo. The next morning at the breakfast buffet, we enjoyed a variety of Japanese, Western, and Chinese dishes little by little while gazing at Lake Biwa, taking over an hour to savor the experience. After the meal, my husband enjoyed Ogawa Coffee, and I had tea by Shuntaro Kumazaki. The Room was spacious and simple. I loved the patterned lampshade and the flower-shaped ceiling light—they were so charming. It was a memorable and delightful stay. Thank you very much.

    You can look forward to it.

    I didn't have high expectations for the hotel, as I just needed a place to stay near the concert venue after the concert. However, although the room was a bit old, the atmosphere of the restaurant and the attentiveness of the staff were excellent, the food was delicious, and I was very satisfied with the table coordination, including the napkins. I also used the public bath, which was very small (laughs), but it was clean and I was able to enjoy a pleasant bath. The breakfast venue was on the second floor of the adjacent building, where I could enjoy a leisurely meal while overlooking the natural beauty of Lake Biwa shining in the morning sun. Thanks to the smart service of the hotel staff, I was able to spend two pleasant days. I apologize for saying at the beginning that I didn't have high expectations. If I have the opportunity to visit the area again, I would definitely choose this hotel again. Thank you very much.

    I think this is a very cost-effective Hotel. There is a large public bath, and I was able to relax. It's a bit of a walk from the station, but depending on the time, they provided a Shuttle Service to the station, which was helpful. The breakfast was also substantial and very satisfying. The dinner was an affordable course, but it was very delicious and the content was sufficient, which was also very satisfying.

    Stayed to join the Chikubushima Cruise. The jacuzzi was available in the morning and was excellent. The breakfast, which can be enjoyed while overlooking Lake Biwa, had a wide variety and was very good.

    I used this as a foothold for my trip from Kanto to Fukui. I am grateful for the very kind and courteous service of the front staff. The breakfast menu was also abundant, and it was a comfortable stay without any stress.

    For solo travelers

    Overall, it was good, but the noise from the refrigerator, as someone else commented, kept me from sleeping and left me sleep-deprived. I considered unplugging it, but since it was the middle of the night, I found it troublesome to get up and do something, so I endured until morning. I think this is something that should be addressed, as it has already been pointed out. In the breakfast area, a burnt croissant was left unattended, and only one of the two machines was usable. While it's not ideal for guests to leave things as they are, it would have been great if the staff quietly cleaned it up. I had high expectations because the Hotel was noted for the excellent staff service in the comments, so it was a bit disappointing.
