    Beyond Expectations

Since it was a "Room Assigned on Arrival Plan," we didn't know the room or restaurant until the day, but the room was spacious with a great view from large windows. The meal turned out to be a Chinese-themed buffet, which was surprisingly authentic and delicious, with tasty desserts as well!

    Subtle

Due to the renovation of the main building, we stayed in the Garden Suite. The hotel has many stairs but no escalators or elevators, which was challenging for my wife who had a foot injury. The bath was spacious and comfortable, but the narrow changing room left a bit of discomfort.

    The bath is excellent.

The facility is old, but the baths are excellent. You can enjoy sulfur springs and rare mixed springs. There was also a bath with fruit-infused water, which was delightful. The guests were calm and composed, with few families with infants, making it a quiet and relaxing stay. For dinner, we checked in on a weekday at 5:00 PM, but the only available reservation was for entry at 7:45 PM. It would be better if earlier dining times were available. Even though we went early to avoid the breakfast rush hour, we still had to wait about 10 minutes; improving this would be appreciated. The taste of the meals wasn't extraordinary but was reasonably good overall. Check-out time is at 10:00 AM; extending it to 11:00 AM would be more convenient.

Due to the renovation of the main building, I stayed at the Annex. The buffet included Chinese cuisine, and over the phone, I was told that their Chinese dishes have a good reputation and that they also offer Japanese and Western options. This made me look forward to the meals. It was truly excellent! Even the desserts were perfect. I wanted to eat more but was completely full! The bath in another building was amazing, and the Onsen at the Annex was also fantastic—I went in three times. The staff were wonderful, and those serving meals did so with a warm smile, which made it very pleasant. I will visit again! Thank you very much.

The cloudy hot spring water is exceptional.

The cloudy Onsen water was absolutely amazing. I truly enjoyed the experience of soaking in the Onsen. The meal was a Chinese buffet, featuring dishes like Peking duck, which I don't usually eat, making it quite enjoyable. The only downside was when I asked for just sashimi without rice from the seafood bowl; the staff member gave me a comically unpleasant look, which made me laugh. Aside from that person, everyone else greeted us properly and displayed excellent customer service manners.

Even more enjoyable and better Hotel than expected!

Stayed one night at the Owl Forest Cottage, which allows dogs. The room for guests with dogs did not have an open-air bath but was equipped with a standard bathroom and toilet. While there were signs of aging, necessary renovations had been made, and the room was clean and satisfactory for the price. A large dog crate was provided, along with various dog supplies. The windows seemed well-insulated as we couldn't hear neighboring dogs' barking from outside. The public bath features its own natural Onsen source with excellent water quality. There are numerous bathing facilities available, offering more than enough to explore in just one day. Meals were served buffet-style featuring Chinese cuisine; however, there were plenty of non-Chinese options as well, making it highly satisfying in both quality and quantity for this price range. At check-in, some drinks were available near the front desk—not quite all-inclusive but enjoyable to some extent nonetheless. All staff members were kind and attentive; overall, this Hotel offers exceptional value for its price point. I would love to visit again!

Stayed with a plan that includes a Night Safari.

I had visited Nasu Safari Park during the day before, but the Night Safari was enjoyable as I could see different behaviors of the animals compared to daytime. At Sun Valley, I stayed at Forest Villa for the first time. The all-inclusive service with unlimited welcome drinks was very satisfying. The meals were of a higher quality and more delicious than the buffet at the main building. For transportation to the Night Safari shuttle bus and Yuyu Tengoku, I used the convenient circulating bus within the facility. There are still many tourist spots in Nasu that I haven't explored yet, so I would like to visit again.

    [Complaints]

I stayed at the Annex building from 2025/08/22 to 2025/08/23. I was generally satisfied with the pool, Onsen, meal options, and events (festival stalls and game center). However, as mentioned by other reviewers, the water in my room's bath initially came out brown. I understand this might be due to the aging of the Hotel. Now, regarding the "complaint" mentioned in my title: On August 22nd, when we went for dinner, there were several groups waiting in line. A male waiter asked for our room number. I mistakenly gave him an incorrect number verbally. He then sternly told me that "giving a wrong room number causes inconvenience to others." Although I apologized immediately by saying "I'm sorry," he said nothing further after that. This incident ruined what was supposed to be an enjoyable trip for us. My children also fell silent after seeing their father being scolded by a waiter. While it is true that providing incorrect information is a mistake on my part as a guest, if every guest who makes such an error is reprimanded like this, it might be better to consider improving your system (e.g., using meal tickets). Additionally, one of your foreign waitresses working in the hall had much better hospitality and a more pleasant demeanor. While aging facilities are understandable over time, issues with hospitality and outdated systems should be addressed through corporate efforts.

A Family Girls' Getaway to a Summer Retreat

I booked a reservation during the Obon holiday to spend quality time with my family, as I rarely had the chance to travel despite being from Tochigi. It was a trip for four: my grandmother, mother, aunt, and myself. The main purpose was to enjoy the onsen, and we fully indulged in the onsen within the premises. Although it rained during our stay, soaking in an open-air bath while listening to the sound of rain had its own charm. I usually have good metabolism but didn’t sweat after bathing; instead, I felt refreshed. The dressing room wasn’t overly air-conditioned either—perhaps this is also thanks to the effects of the onsen? It was truly satisfying after such a long time since my last visit to an onsen. A one-night stay felt surprisingly short, so next time I plan for two nights and three days. For meals, we enjoyed Chinese cuisine featuring luxurious ingredients like shark fin and abalone alongside classic dishes such as chili shrimp and Peking duck—all deliciously filling! Even though both my grandmother and mother usually eat small portions, they happily finished everything served on their plates—it made me very happy! *Photos of dinner and breakfast will be included.* The hotel staff provided warm hospitality, and we appreciated having a shuttle bus from Nasu-Shiobara Station to the hotel. This hotel offers so much that one visit isn’t enough—I look forward to visiting again soon. Thank you very much!

    Charm

The room design was excellent, and I was moved by the sounds of insects and the temperature, which you can't experience in the city. However, there were a few concerns about the room. First, the smell upon entering. Perhaps due to the sulfur springs, it had a very distinctive odor that made my wife visibly uncomfortable. Next, spider webs and accumulated dust were noticeable, so I wouldn't recommend it for those who are particular about cleanliness. The air purifier's filter warning was ignored as well, suggesting that maintenance might not be a priority. As for other aspects... Amenities were average. The public bath was truly exceptional. You can tell they put effort into the pool; there's even a night pool which is highly recommended. If only they could improve on cleanliness in the room, this would be an amazing Hotel!

    Garden Suite - Japanese-Style Room

The room had an old smell, but it became unnoticeable after keeping the air purifier on. The room cleaning was generally good, but the windows seemed untouched, with visible dirt and dust. The steep stairs and the distance to the dining area or bath could be considered drawbacks, but with fewer rooms, there was no disturbance from hallway noise or door sounds from other rooms, making it comfortable. The sulfur hot spring bath was excellent, and I was satisfied with the variety and taste of the buffet. They kindly accommodated my preference for a slightly firmer omelet and fully cooked sunny-side-up eggs at breakfast, which I appreciated as someone who dislikes runny textures.

There are rooms covered in mold.

Due to the age of the building, some issues are understandable, but I was initially assigned a very musty-smelling room and endured it for a while. Upon closer inspection, I noticed signs of water leakage and mold covering the walls, with curtains also full of mold. The air purifier in the room constantly ran at maximum with an indicator showing poor air quality. Unfortunately, the smell did not improve, and I began experiencing throat pain and headaches, prompting me to consult the front desk. I was promptly moved to another room where I could enjoy a comfortable stay afterward. I believe staff should already be aware of rooms with such mold issues; it is hard to understand why guests are assigned these rooms in the first place. Operational improvements are essential. The staff who assisted with my room change were very helpful. The meals were delicious, and there are four types of Onsen available—both aspects were highly satisfying!

    It exceeded expectations.

This was my first time staying, and the accommodation exceeded my expectations. The Oriental restaurant "Banri" was incredibly delicious. The Western cuisine at "Forest" had a variety of options and was excellent as well. I liked it so much that I extended my stay for another night and tried the Japanese cuisine at the main building, but it was a bit disappointing compared to the others. The steak meat was tough and hard to chew. I also had steak at "Banri," which was tender, so this was unfortunate. The Onsen was wonderful, and I would love to visit again. Thank you for all your assistance!

Guest Feedback - The building is old, and the Room toilet is small. - Free Wi-Fi signal is very poor. - Docomo signal is weak. - Moving between the dining area and bathhouse in separate buildings is inconvenient (especially on rainy days). - Affordable for families with children. - Buffet dinner and breakfast are average. - Suitable for budget travel but not ideal for adult trips. - The bath is nice, but there are limited washing areas. - The pool is good for families with small children. Conclusion: Decent option for budget-friendly family trips with kids!

    It was excellent.

Overall, the place was a bit old but very nice. The food was delicious! However, it would have been helpful to know about the shuttle service for moving within the premises beforehand. While walking to another building, I noticed a shuttle bus in operation and later found out from an employee that it could be arranged immediately if requested at reception. Other than that, everything was excellent.

    Birthday Trip

When my children were young, we often visited Seiunso with grandparents, nieces, and nephews, enjoying lively times together. This time marks our first stay in over 20 years. I came across an ad on social media for a dog-friendly accommodation in Nasu by Sun Valley and decided to check it out. To my surprise, only one day was available, and the Accommodation Fee for one person and one dog was so affordable that I immediately made a reservation. Knowing how delicious the buffet is from past experiences also helped me decide quickly. Since it’s my birthday month, I treated myself to this trip as a gift. Although heavy rain dampened my mood initially, walking with my dog to the Room amidst wet hydrangeas illuminated by lights lifted my spirits—it was truly enchanting! The Room exceeded expectations; it was cute and spacious enough for our small dog to run around happily. My favorite part was the beautiful greenery outside the window—absolutely stunning despite the rain. The sound of birds chirping and fresh air provided great relaxation. The meals were just as delicious as expected—I ended up eating too much! However, not finding a refrigerator or hangers in the Room felt inconvenient. While moving between dining areas or Onsen requires some walking through green paths—which is pleasant—it became challenging during nighttime due to heavy rain soaking everything. Since dogs are not allowed inside common areas of the accommodation, they need to stay behind in Rooms during such times—a bit concerning when keeping track of time away from them. Overall though, this trip exceeded expectations and turned into a very satisfying Birthday getaway! The staff were all friendly and welcoming too. Next time I’d love to visit with my daughter along with our dog for a relaxing Onsen sauna experience. Thank you for your hospitality!

Hinoki Hot Spring - Smiling Staff, Simply the Best!

I stayed at Oriental Garden. The staff greeted me warmly at the entrance, and the front desk explanation was clear with a lovely smile. The Hinoki bath and milky white hot spring were beautifully complemented by rain-soaked green maple leaves shining in the light. It was a relaxing and rejuvenating experience after a long time. After dinner, I went for a walk and enjoyed the well-maintained roses in unexpected places. There is a pool in the center, which seems perfect for future enjoyment. One thing to note: since it's a buffet, I need to learn how not to overeat! The photo shows sunrise from Oriental Garden during winter.

    Many baths available

The staff always greeted us warmly, which was very pleasant. The cottage had high ceilings and spacious rooms. The bath facilities were excellent, and I especially liked the hinoki bath. Although the main building showed signs of aging, it was compensated by other aspects of hospitality, reflecting the company's efforts. Both breakfast and dinner were fulfilling and delicious. I would love to visit again.

    Delicious breakfast and dinner buffet.

I brought my two grandchildren as my wife was away for training. The breakfast and dinner buffets had a wide variety of delicious dishes, and I was happy to see my grandchildren eating so much more than usual. The baths were enjoyable with various options, especially the fruit bath with floating oranges and apples, which everyone loved. The Onsen seemed to be good for my grandchild's dry skin, as they slept soundly without scratching at night. The main building's Japanese-style room felt a bit old but was clean enough to be acceptable. We laid out futons and comfortably slept with three adults and the grandchildren together. We are very satisfied! Thank you so much!

Enjoy numerous Onsen for a delightful experience.

Stayed at Forest Villa with the all-inclusive plan. Enjoyed the onsen even before check-in, along with activities like a festival, karaoke, and table tennis, making it a very fulfilling stay. The lounge offered a variety of alcoholic beverages and plenty of light snacks (traditional sweets), which were satisfying. The dinner buffet had fewer options than expected; nothing particularly memorable stood out. While it was tasty, it left an average impression overall. The meat was tough, which was disappointing. There were many baths to enjoy, making for a delightful experience. With numerous sightseeing spots nearby, this hotel is undoubtedly enjoyable for families.

    A very unpleasant experience

This was a very unpleasant experience! There were only a few open Onsen, and the sulfur spring had a lot of trash floating on the surface. The slippers provided in the Room were actually old shoes reused, not only dirty but also with worn-out soles. The Reservation page mentioned razors would be available in the Room, but none were provided. The showerhead in the bathroom was leaking water. The service attitude of the front desk supervisor was extremely unpleasant. The buffet food was average; the beef was so tough it was hard to chew, and the rice under the sashimi was hard and tasted very bad. I will not visit such a place again.

    The Onsen was excellent.

The Facility with a stone sauna was not available as it was not included in the simple Plan introduced on the Hotel's homepage. However, the Onsen had a wide variety and was not crowded, allowing for a relaxing experience. Being the first day of Golden Week, it was understandable, but both the Room and meals felt overpriced.

The photos of the room posted were completely different from the actual room. It was a cottage, but the building was extremely old with mold and rust everywhere. One of the toilet's bidet functions was unusable, and although we planned to use the bathroom in the room, it was so outdated that we decided not to. The quality of the room does not match its price.

    The Onsen was excellent.

Stayed in a Western-style room with a private natural Onsen open-air bath at the Owl Forest Accommodation with my wife. The Onsen was very hot as advised, and we had to add water to lower the temperature, but it was extremely relaxing and wonderful. The meal was an unusual Chinese buffet, and the taste was delicious. The dining staff were mostly young foreigners, but they worked hard, so it was acceptable. After dinner, we attended a mini-concert at what seemed like a chapel. The pipe organ and beautiful singing voices were truly soothing.
