    Our Familiar Sennen-tei

    As always, I soak in the spacious public bath, head back to my Room, hit the sauna like I always do, take a cold shower, and then slip into the Onsen in my Room. It’s the classic routine I’ve repeated many times whenever I stay at Sennentei. At dinner, I take a big gulp from a frosty mug—absolutely irresistible. Both dinner and breakfast are delicious, with all kinds of local specialties to enjoy. Tottori is truly a great place to spend a holiday, and Sennentei is especially relaxing even by Tottori standards. In May, stocking up on Ohara tomatoes on the way home—and in late August, buying plenty of Nijisseiki pears—is another one of my usual traditions.

    I was very satisfied again this time.

    I first stayed about 10 years ago. The hospitality was wonderful, and since then I’ve been staying at Sennentei once every few years. This was my fourth visit. This time, I informed them in advance that a family member has difficulty walking. Upon arrival, they kindly prepared a parking space close to the entrance when welcoming us in the parking lot—thank you very much. They also showed great consideration with our Room, and our whole family had an enjoyable stay. Perhaps because of the season, there was also a free firefly viewing tour, and we were moved to see fireflies for the first time. It became a great memory. Next time, I’d like to stay in a higher-ranked Room! Thank you again, and we look forward to coming back!

    The detached annex with a sauna is amazing!

    The 92 m² Room with a cold plunge bath and sauna was a truly special experience. Dining in a private room also made it feel exclusive.

    Natural Hot Spring Indoor Bath + Lake Togo View Japanese-Modern Twin / Yuuhi-tei Plan

    This Hotel had a private indoor bath with free-flowing Onsen water direct from the source, and I had been wanting to stay here for that reason. The staff’s hospitality was excellent, and the Room was very thoroughly cleaned. In particular, even areas like the ceiling air conditioner vents were free of dust, giving a strong sense of cleanliness. The in-room indoor bath was also fed directly from the source and felt wonderful; because it was so easy to use anytime, I ended up soaking five times. The Room also had a water dispenser, so I could enjoy cold water after bathing. The drip packs were great too—four each of coffee and tea, plus Japanese tea. Dinner was served at just the right pace for us. Breakfast offered an impressive variety—more than could be tried in one sitting—with unique items such as takoyaki, soup dumplings, and beef-bone ramen. This has become one of the Hotels I definitely want to stay at again. It made for a wonderful memory.

    Bath Amenity Set (3-Piece)

    The “three-piece bathing set” in the title refers to an Onsen, a sauna, and a cold plunge bath. At most ordinary Onsen Accommodations, you need to go to the large public bath to enjoy all three. Here at Sennentei, however, you can have them all in your Room. With complete privacy, you can move freely between the Onsen, sauna, outdoor air bathing on the deck, and the cold plunge—at your own pace in a personal space—late at night and again the next morning. The in-Room Onsen bath is large enough to stretch out fully; the cold plunge temperature can be adjusted to some extent; and the sauna comfortably fits two people. During your stay, it may feel like all you do is sleep, eat, and bathe. Some major Onsen destinations do offer Rooms with this full set as well—but they tend to be expensive. In that sense, there’s no other Accommodation as well-equipped and reasonably priced as Sennentei. The meals also highlight what Tottori has to offer. If you want a weekend escape from city life for an indulgent Onsen-focused getaway, Sennentei comes highly recommended.

    Fourth time.

    This is my fourth stay at this Facility—I keep coming back because I love it. I always have a comfortable, pleasant stay. Thank you very much. I forgot to take a photo of the meat, but it was excellent.

    New Year's Eve in Hawaii

    Located in Tottori, "Hawai" offers a peaceful environment by Lake Togo, providing a relaxing stay. The Room was spacious enough for four people. Exploring the surroundings and visiting the bath were enjoyable experiences; however, an unexpected visit to the hospital followed. Thankfully, everything proceeded smoothly without major issues, and we were grateful for the Hotel's thoughtful support during such circumstances. The open-air baths "Senryo" and "Manryo," with views of the waves, were particularly delightful. As for meals, while the crab was excellent, our family especially enjoyed the variety-rich breakfast featuring seafood and even ice cream—thank you for such a treat! The kindness and attentiveness of all staff made our stay truly pleasant. Thank you very much!

    Excellent customer service.

    I stayed with my elderly parents. The facility is old, but the hospitality was excellent. The staff always checked in on us, which allowed my parents to relax comfortably. We had a crab course meal, and it was delicious. However, the portions were too large for my elderly parents to finish, and they felt sorry for leaving food behind. It would be great if there were an option for smaller portion courses. I would love to visit this accommodation again.

    Due to the snow fore...

    Due to the snow forecast, I initially canceled the Reservation but rebooked the day before and stayed for one night. The crab course dinner was plentiful and satisfying, and the quality of the Room's bath was also satisfactory.

    The weather was great, and the clouds reflected on the lake created a very beautiful view. The accommodation was very clean, and both the bath and meals were satisfying. The staff's hospitality left a positive impression. I would love to visit again if I have the chance.

    We stayed to celebra...

    We stayed to celebrate my partner's birthday. The room we chose had a sauna, an indoor bath, and even an open-air bath, which was truly impressive. The staff kindly explained the room's facilities in great detail. Dinner was delightful with dishes like grilled crab and crab hot pot. The breakfast buffet exceeded expectations with its wide variety of options. Although we checked in early, the stay was so comfortable that time flew by quickly. We would love to stay again if given the opportunity!

    This was my second stay.

    We stayed in the Rikyu Room again. For onsen lovers like us, this room has everything we need. From check-in at 3:00 PM to check-out at 10:00 AM, we thoroughly enjoyed the onsen in the room. We will definitely come back again. Thank you very much!

    The meals were delicious!!

    The food was absolutely delicious, and considering the quality of the ingredients, I thought it was great value for money. Breakfast featured local specialties, and I ended up eating more than I intended. I requested a surprise cake, but since I was too full to eat it, they kindly packed it in a box and even provided a set with a knife, plate, and fork. The large public bath allowed for a relaxing soak. Thank you for your hospitality!

    The Onsen in the roo...

    The Onsen in the room had a perfect temperature, was spacious, and provided a comfortable experience. The meals were delicious, featuring tender meat and abalone, which we enjoyed to our heart's content. However, it was disappointing that there were only two staff members serving during dinner. Additionally, there was no send-off service; we had hoped to take a photo together in front of the Hotel at the end of our stay.

    Sweat stimulates appetite.

    This stay included a buffet plan for both dinner and breakfast. As with the previous visit, the room was equipped with a sauna, cold bath, and private onsen sourced directly from the spring. Upon arrival, I immediately headed to the large public bath to stretch out and relax before enjoying the sauna in my room, sweating it out while sipping on beer. I soaked in the private onsen, returned to the sauna, and then relaxed on the deck chair while admiring Togo Lake's evening view. Repeating this routine brought me to dinnertime. Dinner featured grilled shellfish, fresh sashimi, heaps of vegetables—and curry as a satisfying finish. After sweating it out earlier in the day, my body eagerly absorbed all this delicious food. Truly satisfying! Back in my room afterward, I dozed off watching baseball but ended my day with another soak in my private onsen. The next morning began by switching on the sauna and relaxing by the lakeside. Soaking in an onsen followed by time in a sauna paired perfectly with indulging in delicious meals—this one-night stay at Sennentei was thoroughly fulfilling!

    Room with Onsen is delightful.

    We stayed as a large group. We had informed the accommodation in advance that one of our members had difficulty walking and were told there was no elevator, only stairs, which we accepted. However, the stairs were steeper than expected and surprised us. The room was very clean, and the onsen was excellent! The only issue was the location of the room. Additionally, since we mentioned in advance about having someone with difficulty walking, we assumed our dining table would be closer to the buffet area. However, we were seated at the farthest table from it... both for dinner and breakfast. This was a bit disappointing. The food itself was delicious; however, there were no refills for desserts at times, so some items we wanted to try at the end weren’t available anymore.

    Good Points The room had a perfect view of the lake right in front, which was excellent. The open-air bath was enjoyable, especially one side with low fences that made it feel like being in the lake. Meals were buffet-style for both breakfast and dinner, offering a wide variety and delicious options. Bad Points Alcohol service was not well-organized; initially, there was quite a long wait (about 20 minutes) for alcohol, which is a significant downside for those who drink. Additionally, when ordering local sake, an already opened bottle with about one-third remaining was served—this is highly unacceptable. Although there seemed to be less demand for alcohol due to many families staying here, this aspect needs improvement.

    Onsen, sauna, and cold bath

    A sauna and cold bath can be enjoyed even in the city. Onsen can be enjoyed by visiting an onsen area. However, having all three of these amenities available in your own room is quite rare. It seems that significant renovations have been made since my previous stay. I truly appreciate the forward-thinking approach of continuously improving and staying ahead of the times among ryokans in onsen areas. I've already made a reservation for autumn, of course, for the same room. Indulging in onsen and sauna sessions, paired with delicious meals and chilled beer—it's simply irresistible!

    Excellent cuisine, relaxing baths, and stunning views!

    The room was on the 5th floor, offering an amazing view of Lake Togo from the window. I was surprised to find a water server in the room, which I thought was a great service. Dinner met my expectations, and every dish was delicious. Breakfast was served buffet-style, but I loved that they prepared buri shabu and tamagoyaki right in front of me. It was also nice that the staff served rice and miso soup for us. Highly recommended accommodation!

    We stayed during Golden Week and were very grateful for the accommodating service despite our sudden changes in the number of guests, bed arrangements, and meal additions. Both dinner and breakfast were exceptionally delicious with just the right portions, even pleasing my mother-in-law who had recently lost her appetite—she finished everything with delight. We were deeply touched by the thoughtful hospitality, including being seen off until we were out of sight. We would love to stay again in the future. Thank you so much!

    A Room You'll Want to Visit Again: Rikyu

    I stayed in the Room "Rikyu 1," which had a sauna with löyly, a cold bath, an indoor bath, and an open-air bath—all of which were excellent Facilities. As someone who loves baths, one night and two days were not enough for me. Both the Room and the bathing area were clean, and the view from the Room was breathtaking. Next time, I plan to stay for two nights and three days. The staff members were all very kind. Thank you very much!

    A Ryokan Recommended by a Friend

    The open-air Onsen recommended by my friend was available for women in the morning, so I woke up early to enjoy it. The quiet morning bath, with only the sound of birds chirping, was absolutely amazing. A vast lake stretched out before me, and soaking in the slightly hot Onsen while feeling a cool breeze was pure bliss. There are four large public baths that switch between men and women, and since the Room's bath also had Onsen water, I didn’t get around to trying the private baths... Next time I visit, I’d love to try those as well. The Room had a great view thanks to the good weather, and I enjoyed multiple dips in the private Onsen bath. It was my first time having a water dispenser in a Room—it made me so happy to have cold water after bathing or hot water ready for drinking in the morning. Sitting on a massage chair while gazing at the lake was another highlight. For dinner, we chose Tottori Wagyu beef—both types were tender and paired perfectly with rice. The portion sizes were just right, and every dish was delicious. At breakfast buffet, I was amazed that they grilled fish like nodoguro (blackthroat seaperch) right in front of us! There were plenty of other options too—the strawberry chocolate fondue really excited me! All of the staff members were warm and welcoming; their wonderful smiles made our stay delightful from start to finish. The baths, views, meals—everything exceeded expectations! I can’t wait to visit Sennentei again!

    Cannot say for sure.

    The staff were very dedicated and left a good impression. The Room's bath was excellent, with an amazing view! However, guests from the continent were noisy throughout my stay. I considered complaining multiple times but decided to endure it to avoid any conflict during my precious time of rest. Is this just how things are nowadays? Considering the fairly high price I paid, I wish for a quieter environment. I was looking forward to the meals, but honestly, for this price, they did not meet expectations—especially the rice. Breakfast was buffet-style and naturally crowded with many guests from the continent as well. It left me feeling quite exhausted overall. This Ryokan has a rich history, but I wonder if the essence of Japanese hospitality is being overshadowed moving forward?

    The food could be better.

    The renovated room was excellent. The view and the private bath (indoor bath) with natural hot spring water were amazing. For this price, the room and onsen were great. However, the food and its serving location were really disappointing. I don't want to eat meals that seem like they were just taken out of a bag for both breakfast and dinner. The dining area felt like a wedding hall from the Showa era. Especially at breakfast, there was nothing I truly wanted to eat in the buffet. Dinner also felt like something from a public lodge. It's such a waste considering how good the onsen is. I couldn't reconcile the gap between how great the room was and how poor everything else felt. Maybe higher-priced rooms offer something different? I've been to many places, but even if it's similar food, atmosphere matters so much more here. Even though it’s "No Meals Included," there are almost no restaurants nearby, so there's no choice but to dine here... It’s really unfortunate because both the hot spring water and room were fantastic! I wouldn’t mind paying more if only they could improve their meals properly!
