I visited with high expectations for the crab buffet, but it was underwhelming.

The check-in experience was pleasant. There are plenty of parking spaces in front. Drinks and Japanese sweets are available in the lobby until 6:30 PM. It is an older but impressive hotel. The room's TV is about 26 inches, which is quite small and hard to see from the bed. The chairs in the room are worn out. The refrigerator cools well, but there is no separate freezer compartment. From my room, I had a beautiful view of the sea. If you don't plan to stroll along the beach, a rough sea on a sunny day can be more impressive and dramatic than calm weather. The public bath left an average impression; it’s neither particularly good nor bad, though it requires quite a bit of walking to reach it. For dinner: sushi was good; meat had too much fat; crab dishes were disappointing; other items were average overall. Breakfast wasn’t extraordinary either. I stayed for over 20,000 yen for two people and felt that I received service worth more than what I paid for—overall fairly satisfied. A one-night stay with two meals costs around 25,000 yen as a guideline. Check-out time is at 10 AM, so mornings feel rushed without much time to relax.

    It was quiet and relaxing.

I visited on a weekday. The welcome drinks had a wide variety, and the Japanese sweets were delicious. The Onsen had just the right temperature, allowing me to warm up from the core of my body. Since there weren’t too many people, it was almost like having the place to myself depending on the time. The food, including freshly cooked tempura and steak, was delicious. However, I gave it four stars with expectations for improvement because there was no cleansing product in the bath, and I wished there were a bit more dessert in the morning. Also, the Room was too cold, but I appreciated that they promptly brought a ceramic heater and humidifier. Next time, I’d like to visit with my parents.

Onsen after skiing and crab dishes are the perfect match.

Thank you very much for your hospitality. This was our second time staying here for skiing at Mt. Daisen this year. 【Room & Amenities】 The Room we stayed in was a modern Japanese-style Horizon Room, which was relatively new, bright, and modern. However, the air conditioning in the Room was not effective at all. We kept it set at 31 degrees, but it was still cold. Considering it was early February and raining instead of snowing, the temperature should have been relatively high, but I imagine it would be unbearably cold during extremely cold weather. The amenities were quite standard. 【Service】 As this is a relatively large Property, there was no guidance to the Room, and even when we arrived at the car drop-off area, no one came out to assist us. It seems such services are not provided here. Of course, there was no send-off either. During the meal service, perhaps due to a large banquet being held, we received very little attention, and even ordering drinks took about five minutes, which was a bit disappointing. 【Onsen & Bath】 The large Onsen was clean, and the water temperature was set relatively high. The shower had sufficient water pressure, making it a satisfying bath experience. However, the quality of the shampoo and other products was not very good. We did not use the bath in the Room as it was small. 【Facility & Equipment】 Since the Property was established in 1967, there are parts of the Facility and equipment that feel old. It is neither particularly good nor bad. 【Dining】 The taste of the food was delicious, and the portion size was just right. The kaiseki meal was served in a relatively large dining area that was partitioned off. Although the Room could accommodate about six groups, our family was the only one using it, which felt a bit lonely. The buffet area for all-you-can-eat crab was crowded, so most guests seemed to opt for that. After skiing, going back and forth to get food multiple times can be a hassle, so we were satisfied with the kaiseki meal. However, the lack of people around us felt a bit lonely. 【Overall Satisfaction】 This Property is recommended for warming up in the Onsen after skiing and enjoying delicious crab dishes at a relatively reasonable price. Thank you very much.

    Stable Stays

Last time it was autumn, but this time I visited in winter. The food was delicious, and the bar was excellent. My recommendation is the best lemon squash in Japan. I think even those who are not good with alcohol will enjoy the Instagram-worthy spots in Kaike.

    Overall, it was good.

The age of the room was as everyone mentioned, and at first, I was hesitant, but I got used to it (laughs). The meals, including crab, sashimi, sushi, and tempura, were all incredibly delicious. Personally, I found the curry to be particularly tasty. The bath was delightful, with the open-air bath facing the sea, making the contrast between the cold winter air and the warm Onsen very pleasant. The bath and dining area are in separate buildings with a bit of distance between them, which seemed a bit challenging for my elderly parents, but they got used to it as well (laughs). I would like to visit again. Thank you very much.

I was able to relax quite a bit.

It was quite good! When we arrived at the Hotel by car, the old building made us think "I see..." and since no one came out from inside, we thought "I see..." again. Most traditional Ryokan still offer a welcome greeting, so it was a slightly disappointing start. Furthermore, entering inside, the businesslike response from the front desk woman was also disappointing. However, despite arriving earlier than the check-in time, they allowed us to proceed with the check-in, and we were able to enjoy drinks and tea snacks in the lobby until the Room was ready, which lifted our spirits a bit. The coffee was ground and brewed one cup at a time, which took time but was very delicious. The view from the window was also excellent. We had a Room Plan with no view, but although it was old, it was clean and tidy. The toilet might be better used without closing the door for larger people. There was no bath in the Room, but there was a large public bath, so it was not a problem. The large public bath and the open-air bath were very spacious and had good hot water. It was nice and considerate that they provided towels at the entrance of the bath for those who forgot to bring them from their Room. Lotion, shampoo, conditioner, and body soap were also provided, which should be sufficient unless you have specific preferences. However, the hair dryer's power was lacking, so we dried our hair back in the Room. Nowadays, attractive hair dryers are available for women everywhere, so that was a bit disappointing. The meals, both dinner and breakfast, were very delicious. It was a buffet, but even the beef bone ramen and soba broth and soup were carefully prepared, and overall, the dishes were delicious. (The crab was sometimes salty, though.) Initially, our spirits were a bit down, but overall, the Hotel staff were cheerful and greeted and responded politely, leading to overall satisfaction. We will visit again!

The cost performance is good depending on the day.

I was able to stay with a dinner and breakfast plan for a little over 10,000 yen. The facility seems to be aging, and there were places where onsen water from the upper floors was leaking into the room. (Temporary repairs were made, though.) There is a wide variety of dinner options, and some of the menu items are buffet-style, so you will be quite full. The onsen has the typical Kaike spring quality, but on Sunday night, the onsen water had a rather strong chlorine smell. Since the issue of improper onsen water replacement in Kyushu, I think they have been strengthening chlorine disinfection when there are many guests. The next morning, the onsen water seemed to have been replaced, and there was no chlorine smell.

    The crab is so magnificent...

The shell of the crab was much thicker and more impressive than the ones I usually eat, so although there were cuts, I wished there were crab scissors available. There was something to pick the meat, but I struggled to crack it open by inserting my fingers into the cuts. I was impressed by how different the authentic crab was from what I usually eat. I wished there was cleansing cream, oil, or milk for makeup removal instead of cleansing wash (facial wash) in the Room and bathroom. The view from the Room was also fantastic, and I was soothed by the Onsen.

The exterior may be old, but...

The exterior is old, but considering the cost performance, it was really good. Especially the quality of the semi-buffet is hard to find at this price. The stay was just under 10,000 yen, including breakfast, dinner, and onsen. You can get a full view of the Sea of Japan from the room, and there is a Japanese-style room with a bed next to it. It was a hotel that made me want to visit again. However, all the dryers were broken, and my hair couldn't dry, so I deducted one star. The dryer didn't blow air, which was inconvenient.

    Relaxing as a couple

About a week before our stay, we suddenly needed to find accommodation. While searching for a place to stay without meals, we found Tensui, which offered meals at a reasonable price, and checked the reviews. Many people mentioned that the building was old and the food was delicious, and I was drawn to the reviews about the food, so I decided to book it. When we actually went, the accommodation fee was cheap, so I didn't mind the age of the building. The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff's smiles were wonderful. At the dining venue, the chef explained the recommended, elaborate chawanmushi, and the live kitchen's meat and tempura, as well as the buffet's sashimi platter, were fresh and delicious. My husband had several helpings. We enjoyed the other dishes as well. The plan we stayed on included a private bath at the neighboring Kasuitei, which was a special feature, and we were able to relax and soak in the bath as a couple, which was very soothing. After the bath, we had a cocktail at a bar surrounded by water, and that day, all our accumulated fatigue was relieved, and we were very satisfied. It was an inn that we would like to visit again. Thank you to all the staff.

    Highly recommended accommodation!

There is no accommodation in Japan with such good cost performance. There is a hot spring, a buffet, and a one-of-a-kind BAR; there is no BAR with such an atmosphere. My regular place! I recommend it.
