    The garden and the R...

The garden and the Room were clean. The large public bath had a variety of thoughtful features and was interesting, but the Onsen water quality... Although it was described as free-flowing from the source, it felt heavily diluted. I was expecting Misasa’s radium Onsen, so I was left quite disappointed.

Family Trip with Kids During Summer Vacation

It’s a large Ryokan, and the lobby was spacious and clean. The meals were delicious, and the kids’ set meal was a generous portion, so our child was very satisfied. Both the indoor bath and the open-air bath were spacious, and we could relax and enjoy them. The Room was older, but we were able to unwind comfortably. The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of Japanese and Western dishes, which we enjoyed and found very tasty. Since we had to change plans at short notice due to the earthquake and searched for an Accommodation in a hurry, next time we’d like to stay in a better Room if one is available.

I’m satisfied because I’d always wanted to visit Misasa Onsen, where my parents went on their honeymoon. Both the Onsen and the open-air bath were very good.

    Wonderful!

The food and the Room were wonderful—everything was excellent. The staff were also very kind and helpful. However, the floor in the large public bath was cold, so it was disappointing that my warmed-up body cooled down. The breakfast buffet was very delicious. The menu items were unlike anything I’ve seen at other Hotels or Ryokans—fresh, creative, and impressive. I was very satisfied.

    First Visit: Misasa Onsen

I enjoyed the variety of baths, and as a special treat for women, the rose bath made me especially happy. The black soybean tea after the bath was also delicious, and I bought some as a souvenir. The foot acupressure massage felt wonderful, and I slept soundly through the night without waking up even once. Above all, both dinner and breakfast were luxurious and delicious—I was completely satisfied. When we left, you waved to us until our car was out of sight. If I visit Misasa again, this is the Accommodation I want to make my regular place to stay. It was a great trip. Thank you very much.

The bathroom is spacious and comfortable.

It feels like a long-established Ryokan! While some parts do show a bit of age, it’s clean overall and very well maintained. All the staff were kind and helpful. There are many baths, so you can really enjoy them. It made me think that staying at a Ryokan once in a while is really nice.

    Excellent value for money

Because it was categorized as “Casual” on IKYU, I was a little worried at first, but once I arrived those concerns disappeared. It was a very good Ryokan with no real weak points overall, and you could feel the confidence of the Kashoen group throughout. The parking spaces next to the entrance were already full, so I drove myself to their dedicated lot a short distance away. Service was courteous and attentive, from handling luggage to guiding me to my Room. The Onsen had a 68°C source temperature and included an open-air bath; it was spacious and the water quality was excellent. The Room had a Japanese-modern design that opened in 2021 and still felt new. The toilet was automatic, and the bed (firm—in a good way), sofa, and large table were all very comfortable. Dinner was served in a private room. The appetizers were beautifully presented, and dishes such as the Tottori beef “torotama” sukiyaki (a bit strongly seasoned) were satisfying—there were no unnecessary filler items just to increase the number of courses. However, the turban shell advertised in the Plan was small and underwhelming. Breakfast was buffet-style so I didn’t expect much, but it turned out to be substantial—bonito tataki, rolled omelet with dashi, tempura, and more—and we were also given a private room. They even brought us an assorted fruit platter. There are plenty of private rooms for not only dinner but breakfast as well, so you can dine calmly (though I did get lost on the way back to my Room after eating). In the morning I used the in-room bath; it too was free-flowing from the source springwater and pleasantly spacious. With no particular negatives regarding the Onsen, Room, service, or meals, I felt this stay offered excellent value for money at this price point.

    We had a relaxing stay.

The bath was great and met my expectations. However, the parking lot was far away and narrow, and I felt rushed and couldn’t relax because the staff member stayed right next to me while I was deciding what to order for drinks before dinner.

Enjoy both crab and the Onsen.

We stayed here for a three-generation crab trip. We were satisfied with both the meals and the Onsen. The Room was a spacious Japanese-Western style room, and we were able to relax.

    A calm and relaxing atmosphere

I stayed here with a friend. Although the building is not new, everything was thoroughly cleaned and very spotless. The spaces from the lobby to the baths are spacious, so you can relax and unwind. The Onsen had many hotter baths, which was perfect for the cold winter. The staff were also very pleasant, and I was impressed by their thoughtful hospitality. I would love to visit again. Thank you very much.

    I made a Reservation...

I made a Reservation here because the group Hotel in Kyoto was excellent. During this season, we enjoyed snow-covered gardens and views of the Santokugawa River, and the meals were a real treat, including crab and sukiyaki. However, while the Room was clean, it showed its age. The furnishings felt dated, and the low ceiling made it feel cramped, so it was hard to spend much time there. I ended up staying on the lobby floor for long periods and visiting the baths more often than usual to avoid being in the Room as much as possible. As for the large public bath, the indoor bath was at a comfortable temperature with good water, but the rock open-air bath was lukewarm. The rose bath had only a small amount of petals floating in a tub, which did not make me want to use it. The Shuttle Service by shuttle bus was very helpful.

    Utase-yu (Waterfall Bath)

The large public bath and open-air bath were spacious and comfortable to use. However, one issue was that the temperature of the waterfall shower was extremely high, almost to the point of feeling like it could cause burns. Not only myself but other guests seemed to have a similar reaction. It might be worth checking. Both dinner and breakfast were satisfying. However, I think the dipping sauce for shabu-shabu would be better if it were simply egg-based. The flavor of the meat and broth didn’t come through as much. Overall, it was a mostly satisfying stay. Thank you very much. Ichikawa City, Chiba Prefecture

    Three-Generation Crab Trip

We visited at the end of the year for a three-generation trip. It was a crab Plan, and we enjoyed plenty of crab dishes. The bath was spacious, and the snowy open-air bath was beautiful.

We had a relaxing time as a family.

We stayed for one night as a family. We reserved a spacious room, so we were able to relax comfortably. However, the beds were quite small and felt like we might fall off. The bath towels and towels needed to be reused from the room, which was a bit inconvenient. Overall, the facility was old. The bath was very nice—clean and relaxing to use. The meals were served in a private room, allowing us to enjoy crab without worrying about others around us. We were completely full! It was delicious.

    Towels

The open-air bath is very spacious, allowing guests to fully enjoy the Onsen experience, which was highly satisfying. However, in most Ryokans at Onsen resorts these days, bath towels and face towels are usually provided in the large communal baths, and about three different-sized towels are typically available in the rooms. Here, however, only one bath towel and one face towel per person were provided. There were no additional towels available even in the washroom area, which felt very inconvenient. Rather than offering services like choosing modern-style yukatas, I would prefer if more towels could be provided. For women especially, the current number of towels is insufficient. It feels like a waste to have such a great bathing facility and natural hot spring but fall short on this aspect. I don't consider myself overly critical; however, I felt compelled to point this out on this occasion.

    Crab

I was disappointed because I went to eat snow crab, but it turned out to be red snow crab. I made the reservation expecting to eat snow crab since the season starts on September 6th, but it was red snow crab instead. Paying over 80,000 yen for red snow crab is unacceptable. I will not make a reservation again.

    Family Trip

Misasa-kan is a very special and memorable Ryokan for our family. This time, we planned our trip to coincide with an important day for us. Despite making a difficult request for a barrier-free room with an open-air bath, they kindly accommodated us, and we were able to stay in the room we hoped for. The room was comfortable and wonderful; we enjoyed the high-quality hot spring in the open-air bath and watched movies on the home theater system. It was truly a satisfying experience. Additionally, we had delicious meals while enjoying conversations with the staff, making it an enjoyable time overall. What stood out most was their exceptional hospitality—from welcoming us upon arrival to guiding us to our room and providing attentive service during meals. Their thoughtful care and warm words, considering our family's needs, were remarkable down to every detail. Having visited many Ryokans before, this level of service left me deeply impressed. It became a truly unforgettable trip—thank you very much!

    The meals were delicious.

The bath was spacious and very relaxing. Although it was raining, so we could only use part of the open-air bath, it was still enjoyable. Dinner was delicious, and even though the staff member assisting us had a beginner's mark, they explained the dishes well and had a lovely smile. Breakfast was divided into two time slots: 7:00-8:00 and 8:00-9:00. We chose the 8:00-9:00 slot, but when we arrived at 8:00, some items hadn't been replenished yet, so we couldn't try everything. It would be great if replenishment could be done before 8:00. Overall, we were able to relax and were very satisfied with our stay. We would love to visit again!

    A Relaxing Accommodation

Misasa-kan offers exceptional service and dining. It is a safe and comfortable accommodation for elderly guests. The facility was renovated last year, so everything is very clean. The garden is stunning, and the onsen is excellent and well-maintained. While the standard rooms are slightly older, they are well-kept and provide a comfortable stay.

    Enjoy Onsen to the Fullest

The room has been renovated but still feels slightly old, reminiscent of a traditional Onsen accommodation. As for the Onsen, the men's side had a simpler open-air bath compared to the women's side. The baths alternate between morning and night, and I felt that the women's side at night had more charm. The water quality was excellent, leaving my skin smooth with just the right temperature—definitely worth visiting. The meals were delicious and created wonderful memories. If I may suggest, having female staff for welcoming guests and farewells might add a nicer touch!

The Onsen was excellent. I personally found the breakfast buffet more delicious than the dinner. The dinner felt like a typical kaiseki meal. I’m not sure if this is standard or if the Ryokans I’ve stayed at before had better service, but it was disappointing that amenities and yukata were not provided for children without bedding and meals included. Yukata seemed to be available for rent at an additional cost, but we didn’t rent them this time. Amenities could be requested at the front desk.

An Onsen town in harmony with nature

It was a wonderful place surrounded by nature with the atmosphere of a traditional onsen town. The appearance of Misasa-kan reflects the charm of an old-fashioned onsen town Hotel. The baths, dining area, and lobby were beautifully renovated. The courtyard was meticulously maintained and truly beautiful, with waterfalls and small streams providing a soothing ambiance. Dinner featured gentle flavors and was delicious. Breakfast was served buffet-style, including scrambled eggs and buttery croissants that were delightful when paired with Daisen's Shirobara milk. The rice, made from Koshihikari new harvest grains, was glossy and fresh, while the freshly fried tempura was crispy—personally very satisfying. The ikebana flower arrangements displayed in the hallways and rooms added a special touch to the space, creating a relaxing atmosphere. This time I booked at the last minute for an affordable price; therefore, my overall rating is 4 out of 5 stars.

The towels had an unpleasant odor.

The bath towels are brown, so it's hard to tell if they are clean or dirty, and they seemed to have a slight odor, which was a bit disappointing. Other than that, it is a very refined Onsen accommodation! White cotton towels would be better!

    Hatsuzancho Onsen

I had heard for a long time that "Misasa is a great Onsen," so despite the distance from my hometown, I decided to make a reservation this year. Since I had been checking for months in advance, I was able to secure a good room early with a discounted plan on IKYU.com. On the day of our stay, we were hesitant as it coincided with the arrival of a typhoon, but after consulting with the accommodation multiple times, we managed to arrive safely by car. Misasa Onsen is an Onsen town that exudes history and charm. It’s not very large in scale, so you can explore it without spending too much time. Although I wanted to try the public baths and riverside Onsen as well, due to time constraints and having some drinks, I had to give up on that idea. The next morning, local women were cleaning the bridge for us visitors—such thoughtful hospitality! Misasa-kan was absolutely wonderful; both its facilities near the lobby and its Onsens provided more than enough relaxation. The spacious open-air bath with its sense of freedom and tatami-matted facilities were incredibly soothing—so much so that staying within the accommodation alone made our trip worthwhile without needing to venture outside. The staff's attentiveness also contributed greatly to making our stay extremely comfortable. Additionally, the food was outstandingly delicious! It’s been quite some time since I've encountered such satisfying cuisine. My companion was so impressed they couldn’t stop eating in silence out of sheer enjoyment! From vegetable appetizers to sashimi dishes, grilled items, hot pots—all were exceptionally tasty! Honestly speaking—we overate because leaving behind such exquisite dishes felt impossible! While older guests might find portions slightly overwhelming due their size—it would be unthinkable not opting-in dinner/breakfast plans when booking here at this accommodation!! Breakfast buffet offered too many tempting side-dishes alongside freshly hand-rolled rice balls prepared right there upon request!! This place left me wishing revisit again someday soon!! Huge thanks goes towards everyone working hard @ Misasa-kan ensuring memorable experience throughout entire stay!!!

    It was a wonderful birthday.

We visit every summer for my wife’s birthday and every winter for mine, and this time was exceptional as always. As I mentioned during checkout, we’ll be back this winter! The comfort, the hospitality of the staff, and their kind service are why we keep coming back. Thank you again, and we look forward to seeing you next time!

The cuisine and Onsen are excellent.

The Onsen and cuisine were very satisfying. However, since the Ryokan itself is old, the Facility was somewhat lacking. I was surprised that there were no chairs in the smoking room, and it was disappointing that the massage chair was completely unusable. The service was excellent, so I believe the rating would improve significantly with some Facility upgrades.

    3-Day Hot Spring Healing Journey

Staying at the same accommodation for three days is quite rare, but I heard that soaking in the onsen at Misasa Onsen for three days can make you feel rejuvenated by the next morning, so I decided to stay here. This decision was also influenced by my mother’s increasing difficulty in walking over the past few years. I hoped that soaking in the onsen might help ease her discomfort. I am deeply grateful for the thoughtfulness of the staff and would like to thank the chef who prepared creative and luxurious dinner menus over our three-day stay, allowing us to enjoy a truly wonderful time. However, I feel this accommodation may not be entirely suitable if you are traveling with someone who has difficulty walking or standing up. There are limited handrails in restrooms within the facility, and there are quite a few steps. The onsen we were looking forward to was unfortunately located far away due to how the building is structured, making it impossible to reach with a wheelchair. Additionally, there were very few handrails inside the bathing area itself. In today’s world where many international guests visit Japan, it is important to preserve traditional Japanese-style accommodations like this one. However, I believe more consideration could be given toward those who have mobility challenges. We chose a room with beds instead of futons because getting up from futons would have been difficult. However, since they weren’t proper beds, sleeping was uncomfortable and caused me to wake up multiple times during the night. It’s especially disappointing because all of your staff members were truly wonderful. This issue will inevitably need attention moving forward. If this accommodation could evolve into one that provides comfort even for those exhausted from daily caregiving or elderly guests seeking peace of mind during their stay—it would be fantastic. That said, your warm hospitality remains unchanged and greatly appreciated. Thank you very much!

    It was a satisfying stay.

Enjoyed exclusive use of the large public bath during the early hours. Dinner was satisfying in both quality and quantity, and even seniors could finish it comfortably. Breakfast was served in a private room, allowing us to enjoy it at our own pace with delicious flavors. We are grateful for the thoughtful care provided by the staff. It was a truly satisfying stay—thank you!
