    The Room we stayed i...

    The Room we stayed in was new, and the appliances were high-spec. However, there were mistakes during check-in and at dinner, and both times we were assisted by staff wearing “in training” name tags. It made me feel that the support system for trainees may not be well organized. As for the baths, there were quite a few dead insects floating in the open-air bath, so I didn’t feel like using it. The large public bath was relaxing. What was most disappointing was the restaurant: there seemed to be many pre-made or simply grilled dishes, with few items that felt carefully prepared. I was also surprised at this price range to have self-serve water and ordering by scanning a QR code on a smartphone. Rather than individual staff performance, it felt like overall understaffing and cost-cutting under the name of SDGs have reduced the level of service to something that doesn’t match the price. It’s a shame because the view was great and the Room itself was very nice.

    Don't be misled by the website!

    I trusted the site and the official homepage and headed to the accommodation. While I think SDGs are a good concept, this was by far the worst accommodation I have ever stayed at. First of all, basic necessities like a toothbrush required an additional fee! Even in a business hotel, such items are usually included without extra charges. The homepage was misleading as it portrayed the place as very charming. However, finding our room was difficult; there were no elevators, so we had to carry our luggage up stairs ourselves to reach it. Right across from our room was a smoking room with a broken door, causing smoke to fill the hallway with an unbearable smell. The hallways were cold everywhere we went. The most disappointing part was dinner service. Ordering drinks required scanning QR codes like in some casual bars, but even after food arrived, drinks did not come on time. We ordered a full bottle of wine but were not provided with a wine cooler either. What baffled us most was that rice and miso soup were served first while tempura came much later. For those dining during the first seating session like us, dessert took so long that we couldn’t leave our seats promptly; meanwhile, guests for the second session had to wait outside because they couldn’t enter until preparations finished inside. Staff members seemed overwhelmed—clearing dishes noisily and roughly as if throwing them around while setting up for later diners simultaneously. Even self-service tea tasted bad and undrinkable; there wasn’t even water provided in rooms! Considering its price point overall felt close-to-fraudulent experience staying here. Although weather conditions allowed us enjoyable moments exploring Takeshima Island earlier—it’s truly regrettable how disappointing this accommodation turned out overall!

    Air conditioning

    Despite the cold weather, the air conditioner could only be set to cooling mode. When I checked with the front desk, they said, "We are not yet able to provide heating." They eventually brought a heater after quite some time, but the response was disappointing.

    A great accommodation for refreshing yourself.

    I stayed during the Obon period to relax and unwind. I booked a room with an open-air bath, where I enjoyed soaking multiple times while overlooking Mikawa Bay. Although the weather was cloudy and I couldn't see the stars, the night view of Gamagori City was beautiful. I could even spot the Shinkansen passing by and boats at the racecourse. The great feature of this open-air bath is that there’s a space opposite the bathtub where you can lie down, allowing for a therapeutic experience of alternating between soaking in hot water and resting. I also visited the rooftop open-air bath, but it was only slightly larger than the one in my room, so I found my room's bath more than sufficient. The meals were delicious, and staff were well-trained, making my stay very pleasant. Highly recommended for those looking to refresh themselves!

    Unfortunately, it was a rainy day, but...

    The starry sky was absent, and the night view was only occasionally visible. However, we could catch glimpses of fireworks below, giving us a sense of relaxation in the mountains. The service was calm and attentive, the guest room provided a peaceful stay, and the dinner was exceptional. The chef served freshly prepared dishes right on time. Although we made our reservation at the last minute and had a spot with limited views, it allowed us to enjoy a leisurely family meal in privacy. The amenities were simple yet environmentally friendly, but both the open-air bath and large public bath offered fragrant shampoos that were soothing. Additionally, there was an adorable robotic dog "aibo" near the front desk that added charm to our stay.

    It was excellent.

    The price, service, and facilities were all very satisfying. We visited with our 3-year-old son and used the private bath for 45 minutes, which offered an amazing view. It made us strongly want to visit again. The room we stayed in did not have a bath or shower, and some amenities were paid as mentioned beforehand, so we had no complaints during our stay. The service was excellent, and we are very happy to have found such a great accommodation.

    Not worth the cost.

    Charging for amenities (toothbrush, razor) at that price is unacceptable. The room's lamp was broken, the hairdryer had insufficient airflow, and although it was a room with an open-air bath, if it was a pre-renovation discounted room, the price should be lowered. This post does not need to be made public; I trusted IKYU.com when making the Reservation and am disappointed.

    Everything was disappointing...

    "Dining, Plate" We made a last-minute Reservation and apologized for the inconvenience. However, despite confirming over the phone that we wanted a birthday plate, what was served was just red rice and a small assortment of fruits. The photo service was unavailable due to a broken camera, and the preserved flower provided had some decorations detached and appeared damaged. The overall experience felt disappointing. Additionally, since plates or cakes were prepared for all restaurant guests celebrating occasions, it became obvious to everyone that something similar would happen at our table too—making any surprise impossible. Amidst others being celebrated around us, having our plate arrangement mishandled left us with just red rice and fruits... It felt underwhelming considering we upgraded our meal Plan for an additional charge. While the lobster tasted good, both quantity and quality didn’t justify the cost of this not-so-cheap Plan. We ended up ordering extra dishes because portions were insufficient; however, both food and drink prices were extremely high—leaving us dissatisfied. "Room" We booked a Room with an open-air bath but woke up in the morning to find large numbers of moths on the glass windows and walls near the bath area—including giant silkworm moths—which we couldn’t handle ourselves. Upon contacting reception for help, they simply handed us insecticide spray to deal with it on our own instead of providing assistance directly. Battling such an overwhelming number of moths using weak insecticide proved ineffective; ultimately giving up on using our private bath altogether meant heading instead toward public baths—defeating entirely why we chose this type of Room. Overall disappointment overshadowed what should have been my partner’s special birthday trip—it ended with me apologizing repeatedly instead of creating happy memories together!

    Astronomical Observation

    Convenient shuttle service from Gamagori Station. We were thrilled to be able to do stargazing after dinner and see Jupiter's stripes and Saturn's rings through the telescope. It would have been nice if the amenities were placed in the room.

    Good Stays

    The view from the Room was great, and I also enjoyed the night view from the open-air bath on the rooftop. Additionally, I was able to enjoy the stargazing event. I was thrilled to clearly see Saturn's rings and the moon appearing so large, and being able to take photos was exciting. However, although the meals were delicious, it was disappointing that both dinner and breakfast took a long time to be served, possibly due to a lack of staff. I thought it might be a good idea to make the rice and miso soup self-service.
