    A Hotel worth repeating.

    This was our first visit. Despite the current times, it was a lively and vibrant Hotel compared to others that seem quiet. The Hotel is spacious with plenty of baths, so we never felt crowded during our stay. The meals were buffet-style, and everything was incredibly delicious—we ended up eating too much! Highly recommended are the sushi, roast beef, and fried bread for breakfast. The staff were very kind and made us feel comfortable throughout our stay. Overall, it exceeded expectations for the price! We enjoyed a relaxing two-night stay as a couple.

    Better than expected

    The Room was spacious and provided a relaxing atmosphere, and the Facility was clean. However, the indoor bath temperature was a bit low, which was disappointing. Additionally, the distance from the Room to the bath and dining area felt slightly inconvenient.

    Now I understand why the reviews are so good!

    Initially, I planned to just stop by for a quick Onsen visit during my trip, but the accommodation was reasonably priced, so I decided to stay—and it turned out to be the best decision! This long-established Ryokan exceeded all expectations and left me amazed. Truly incomparable to newer establishments. I didn’t have high expectations at first, but everything—from the spacious grounds and historically beautiful garden to cleanliness, Onsen, and meals—was exceptional. Having stayed at many luxury accommodations before, this place offers incredible value. The natural hot spring water is available in the indoor bath of the large communal bath area only; however, other outdoor baths like the garden bath had a charm that can only be achieved over time. The meals were also impressive! They weren’t just flashy or superficial; you could tell they were made with genuine care and attention. The seasoning was perfect and felt safe to enjoy. Even the pickles were delicious! Every dish was delightful. The fruit selection included three types of grapes with Shine Muscat among them—all sweet and of excellent quality. The Belgian chocolate gelato was also delicious. The room may have been old but had been properly renovated and maintained hygienically. Cleaning throughout various areas was thorough as well. Many staff members were experienced professionals who made my stay very pleasant. Definitely worth more than its price—100 points! All guests seemed happy too—it’s truly an excellent accommodation. Wonderful experience overall!

    Good

    Both dinner and breakfast offer a wide variety of delicious dishes, making it hard not to overeat. The restaurant staff were attentive and provided excellent service. However, the washing area in the bath is located outdoors, which might feel cold during this season. Overall, I was very satisfied with my stay.

    Welcome sweets

    Surprised. Senior women's trip, upgraded reservation for a room with an open-air bath. During the check-in process, we were handed a welcome snack, but it was just a single bag of cheap snacks like those given out at children's events. There was beer as a welcome drink in the room's refrigerator, but it was disappointing.

    Is it suitable for seniors?

    A gathering of siblings in their 70s and 80s. The Facility and garden were impressive, but the Room had an unpleasant smell. We received a bag of snacks at check-in. When we entered the Room, there were no traditional sweets, so perhaps the snacks were meant as a substitute? A bit disappointing, as we were expecting to enjoy local specialty sweets. The tea provided was in tea bags and tasted poor. The bath was an open-air bath connected to the main bath, which was very enjoyable. The meals had a wide variety and were delicious, but the table arrangement could have been more spacious. The dining staff were quick to clean up and very kind. It was our first buffet-style stay in a while, but it seems more suited for families.

    Bravo!

    We stayed at Matsunoi as my parents wanted to travel, and it had always caught our attention. When we mentioned during the Reservation that it was close to their wedding anniversary, we received a lovely gift. Additionally, our Room was upgraded, allowing us to celebrate a wonderful anniversary—thank you so much! We had high expectations after seeing on YouTube that the buffet and views were highly praised. Both breakfast and dinner exceeded our expectations; everything was delicious, and we were completely satisfied. Our recommendations are sushi, steak, gratin, fried bread, fresh orange juice with pickles (laugh), etc. The all-you-can-drink alcohol option for 2,000 yen is also delightful! There are three large public baths with beautiful designs in each location. The Onsen is clear and odorless—it might feel lacking at first glance—but after bathing, your body feels warm and even sweaty afterward; please take note of this! In the morning, we strolled through the garden. It would have been nice to have a designated route to fully enjoy the beautiful Japanese garden without missing anything. Next time, I’d love to visit again with my children and their spouses. Thank you very much!

    It was excellent.

    I visited Matsunoi for my first-ever Onsen trip. It was a wonderful experience. There were a few minor things that caught my attention, but I think it depends on personal preferences. If I have the chance, I would love to visit again in a different season. Thank you very much.

    Stayed on 9/26 for one night and was very satisfied.

    They promptly accommodated our early check-in. The Onsen exceeded our expectations and even helped with my chronic skin condition. The meals were excellent with outstanding service, and we ended up eating a bit too much. My wife and I talked about wanting to visit again.

    Traveling for two

    We traveled as a family this time. The room was clean and nice. We searched for various places and decided to stay at this accommodation with a hot spring, inspired by the reviews from others that mentioned it was good. The meals offered a variety of options, and we enjoyed them while deciding what to try. We even had seconds. We are considering staying here again in the future. The bath was also great.

    Low-frequency sound

    Very clean and well-maintained, with excellent meals and baths. However, one downside was the low-frequency noise coming from the head side of the bed that continued all night, which disturbed my sleep. It might have been the sound of a ventilation fan or something similar, but it was quite noticeable. My companion had the same impression. Aside from this issue, it was a great accommodation, and I hope this point can be improved.

    I will visit again.

    We are sisters in our 50s and have stayed here many times. We often leave the room selection up to the staff, and each time we are guided to different rooms. This time, we stayed in a 10-tatami Japanese-style room in Zuihoro. Since I enjoy relaxing on a bed, I initially thought it might not be ideal without one, but it turned out to be quite comfortable. The room felt a bit old, but the renovated bathroom area was clean and pleasant. This has been our go-to accommodation since childhood. The buffet is delicious, and it's reasonably priced for enjoying Onsen at leisure—Matsunoi is always our top choice!

    I stayed for 2 night...

    I stayed for 2 nights and 3 days in August. The hot water was excellent. It helped relieve my fatigue after the Oze hiking trip. There were also three Onsen facilities, which was very satisfying. The room was well-cleaned, allowing me to have a comfortable stay. I would love to use this hotel again.

    It was a comfortable weekend.

    Escaping the extreme heat, we visited Mount Akagi for a refreshing getaway and stayed overnight at Matsunoi Hotel in Minakami. The temperature on Mount Akagi was around 20°C, providing the coolness we had hoped for. We walked around Kakumanbuchi, known as a "mini Oze," and stopped by Konuma. Due to drought, the water level at Konuma was surprisingly low, revealing a landscape I had never seen before. The hotel's Room appeared recently renovated and was very clean. The toilet featured TOTO's washlet system, and the air conditioner was from Mitsubishi—showcasing high-quality equipment from top manufacturers with attention to detail and an upscale feel comparable to city hotels in Tokyo. The dinner buffet offered a wide variety of dishes, all delicious enough that I ended up eating too much! It was a relaxing and comfortable weekend stay.

    Always a consistently good Hotel.

    I visit every year with my sister. The buffet is always delicious, and with three baths available, this Hotel makes you want to come back again and again. This time, I checked in at 2:00 PM and immediately enjoyed a relaxing time in the garden bath. The garden bath is available for women until 4:30 PM during the day and from 9:30 PM at night, so if you arrive early, you can enjoy it twice in one day. The buffet also included an all-you-can-drink option, allowing me to try a variety of delicious dishes little by little. Being able to choose a yukata made this trip truly exceptional!

    A Satisfying Stay

    The building is old, but it was properly cleaned and had a sense of cleanliness. I didn't have high expectations for the hotel's buffet, but Matsunoi's dishes were well-seasoned overall and very satisfying. The baths offered three types plus private baths to choose from, which was also satisfying. The welcome snack set provided added to a relaxing experience.

    Enjoyed the Onsen...

    As it is a large Hotel, there was a line during check-in, but the staff's service was appropriate and kind, which I appreciated. The Onsen had a common type of water quality, but with three large baths available, I could enjoy the Onsen leisurely without any crowding. I chose the buffet for meals, and as per its reputation, the variety of dishes, taste, and restocking were all satisfactory. One minor downside was that the air conditioning in the Room did not work well, making it difficult to cool down the Room.

    Great value and comfortable.

    Great value for money, and I was surprised by the size of the Hotel as it was my first time. All the baths were clean and enjoyable. Many of the staff were foreigners, but their hospitality was excellent, reflecting good training.

    Onsen Indulgence

    We stayed with our 5-year-old grandchild and three grandparents. The entrance lobby had a play area for children, with many games and picture books that caught our grandchild's interest, keeping them happily entertained. There were various Onsen options, and we thoroughly enjoyed the bathing experience. The buffet meals offered a wide variety of creative dishes and desserts, which made us very happy. We would love to visit again! Thank you to all the Hotel staff.

    Stay for Three Generations

    Accommodation with a magnificent garden and Onsen

    As a returning guest, I am always soothed by the beautiful garden and relaxing Onsen. The bath set basket is also adorable. The meals are delicious, and the all-you-can-drink option feels like great value. This time, I especially enjoyed the fried bread and freshly squeezed orange juice at breakfast. My mother, who has difficulty walking, was very satisfied with this accommodation and is already looking forward to visiting again in autumn.

    Room Issues

    I stay here every year. This time, I stayed in a room in the old building. The room was spacious but outdated. When I tried to use the toilet in the room, it wouldn't flush, so someone from the front desk came to check it. Since it couldn't be fixed, I was moved to another room. However, during the night, there was a loud "clicking" noise that kept me awake and scared me several times. I felt a bit dissatisfied as if various parts of the old building were broken. It seems that staying in the old building is associated with lower prices. I hope improvements can be made; renovating beds and rooms would create a much better environment overall.

    We used it for a family trip!

    This was my third time staying here, and this time I visited with my parents, nephew, and niece. I reserved two rooms, and since they were in the same building, we were kindly given adjacent rooms. The Japanese-Western style room with a silky bath was extremely comfortable. The bathroom space was spacious, allowing us to stretch out and enjoy a luxurious experience. We had a Multiple Night Stay, and the buffet menu changed slightly each day, which made it enjoyable and delicious—we ended up eating too much! The children were thrilled with the meals, pool, and onsen as well. Each bathing area wasn’t too crowded so we could relax while using them. The natural Onsen water was slightly hot but very pleasant. Upon arrival and departure, an elderly staff member assisted us warmly; they even supported my mother who uses a cane for walking—this kindness is deeply appreciated. We look forward to visiting again!

    The Onsen was great, but...

    I stayed with my husband at the accommodation. The onsen, including both the large public bath and the open-air bath, was as good as expected. However, what disappointed us was during dinner. We were guided to a two-person table in a dimly lit corridor that seemed hastily set up, separate from the main dining area where everyone else was seated. My husband and I thought, "This isn't right." I understand it might be unavoidable during summer vacation, but it felt like they just prioritized providing any place to eat over comfort. For breakfast, we were relieved to have a bright table instead...

    It was great!

    The buffet was unexpectedly delicious, and I ate too much! The Chinese dishes, especially the shrimp, squid, and sushi, were fantastic! The only downside was that the Room felt a bit small, including the bathroom. Overall, I had a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

    Imagine...

    We stayed in a room with a semi-open-air hot spring bath for one night as a family of four, but as soon as we entered the room, there was an unpleasant odor... The room smelled terrible. Also, regarding the room amenities: there were only toothbrushes and mouthwash. Isn't that strange? Razors, cotton swabs, and brushes were only available in the public bath area... We specifically chose a room with an open-air bath so we wouldn't have to go to the public bath. Then we decided to look forward to the meals and headed to the dining area. However, both breakfast and dinner had nothing particularly delicious that stood out. The best thing about this accommodation might have been that the toilet paper was soft. Since it was our annual family trip, it was very disappointing... Especially considering how much it cost us...

    The food is delicious and absolutely satisfying!

    We stayed here for a long-awaited family trip. The meals were all carefully prepared and absolutely delicious. The sushi tuna and steak were especially outstanding. We were impressed to find freshly squeezed orange juice at breakfast. The bath was clean, not crowded, and very comfortable. However, the showers in the large public bath stopped quickly, which was slightly inconvenient. It’s a huge building, so getting to the bath required quite a bit of walking with elevator transfers—but that was enjoyable too! This might be asking too much, but since we stayed during extreme heat, it would have been nice to have cold water available in the room. All staff members we encountered provided service with smiles and made us feel welcome. We will definitely stay again!

    The Facility is old, so there were some areas where it felt a bit dated, but the Room was clean and very comfortable to stay in. Despite being quite crowded, the Onsen was spacious and relaxing.     The buffet for dinner and breakfast offered a wide variety of dishes and was very satisfying. The only disappointment was that someone with tattoos on both arms and their back was using the onsen, which made me uncomfortable. While I understand it may be difficult for the hotel to strictly monitor this, I feel it is necessary to establish clear rules, such as limiting tattooed guests to private baths, and clearly communicate these rules to all guests.
