    Personally, I wouldn...

Personally, I wouldn’t stay again. This Accommodation can be used by both overnight guests and day visitors, but since it was during the summer vacation season there were many families with children, and I couldn’t relax anywhere except in the Room. Even during meals there were babies crying loudly and children talking at a high volume, so partway through we were moved to what seemed like a private room or a large shared room. I understand that children cry, but since we paid to stay overnight (unlike day visitors), I would have preferred being shown to a private room from the start, or having meals served in our Room. I also didn’t really understand how to use the hot stone sauna, so I ended up staying in the Room most of the time. In addition, even though there is parking reserved for overnight guests only, some day visitors parked there. My companion seemed satisfied overall, but personally I wouldn’t stay again. The restaurant staff were very kind—thank you very much.

Enjoy Onsen to your heart’s content in Higashi Dogo

A facility combining a bathing complex with Accommodation. Stay in a Room with an open-air Onsen bath and sauna, facing the mountains rather than the road. The bath water is silky and lotion-like, with a perfect temperature that pairs wonderfully with the sauna. The washing area is spacious, and the Room is long and narrow. The large public bath also offers plenty to enjoy: a pot bath, open-air Onsen bath, a reclining bath with about 1 cm of water depth, a carbonated bath, a groundwater (?) bath, an indoor electric bath, and a sauna—ideal for Onsen lovers. Conveniently located about a 3-minute walk from the station.

The room had not been cleaned to even a basic standard.

I noticed something like sugar scattered on the desk in the Room, and the same kind of particles on part of the sheets as well. It was my first time experiencing something like this, so I was quite surprised. It felt like the cleaning had been done carelessly, and I suspect the sheets hadn’t been changed. When I contacted the front desk, they said they would send housekeeping, and they wiped down the desk. I declined a sheet change because I didn’t want to deal with it. The Room facilities are excellent, but there is essentially no sense of hospitality. There wasn’t even a single comment about this at checkout. As others have mentioned, this seems to be an Accommodation with a different style from a Ryokan or Hotel (perhaps an Accommodation attached to a day-use spa), so it may be unreasonable to expect that level of hospitality here—but at minimum, proper cleaning should be ensured (even if outsourced, management is still responsible). Sorry for the long message.

Think of this place as a health spa rather than a hotel.

I booked after viewing the website, thinking it was a Hotel. Since I thought it was a Hotel, I pulled up to the front entrance and waited for staff to come out and help with my luggage. No one came—of course, because it isn’t a Hotel (lol). When I stepped inside, I was stunned. Seeing the shoe lockers made me realize it was a spa facility, and seeing the other guests at the front desk confirmed it. I went to the Room and then to the restaurant, and yes—it really was a spa facility. It felt like a waste, but I left without staying (lol).

    There is an issue.

I stayed during the New Year holiday. The cost was over 30,000 yen per person. I would like the Hotel details to be displayed accurately. It is a casual type Hotel combined with a spa (health center). It seems to be frequently used like a capsule Hotel. Although it was labeled as a Deluxe Room, it was very old; the floor was peeling, wallpaper coming off, and there was an odor of sewage due to old plumbing. Security measures were nonexistent as spa users could freely enter. The interior fixtures had an outdated Showa-era feel, cleaning was not properly done, and the bathtub lacked maintenance. When I called the front desk, they seemed busy handling spa reception and took time to answer calls. Staff members passing by did not greet guests at all. The dining area felt extremely cold as it only had partitioned spaces in a hall; all dishes were cold and appeared pre-prepared. Recent Reviews seem highly rated but older ones are quite poor—making me suspicious that positive Reviews might have been manipulated or written by staff themselves. This is my first time using IKYU.com and I feel deceived by photos on their site. Perhaps Superior or Comfort types of Rooms are clean, but this Hotel charges high prices despite being business-oriented. Unfortunately, my New Year stay turned out very disappointing—it wasn’t even worth taking pictures of anything here!

There is plenty of room for improvement.

The entrance to the parking lot for accommodation guests is hard to find. Please clearly separate the front desk reception for accommodation guests. We would also like the dining area to be completely separate for accommodation guests.

The bathtub in the Room's bathroom is spacious.

The bathtub in the room is spacious and comfortable. The bed is also large, but the mattress is not good—perhaps a type without springs? For dinner, I chose a fusion kaiseki meal. While it was indeed a mix of Japanese and Western styles, the dishes felt mismatched, and none stood out as particularly delicious. Breakfast was included as well, but my impression remained the same.

    It was relaxing.

I have stayed at this accommodation multiple times, but this time I reserved a new room for single use. I was satisfied as I could relax alone. The room was convenient and comfortable, especially being able to watch movies on the large TV while lying on the bed was fantastic. However, the automatic faucet in the washroom was inconvenient as it couldn't run water continuously or adjust the temperature. Also, standing showers felt uncomfortable; I would prefer to sit on a chair while washing. Dinner was luxurious and satisfying, but breakfast felt a bit plain, which was disappointing. It would have been nice if egg dishes were included at least. Additionally, I wanted to enjoy my meal while looking at the garden; having an option to choose the dining venue would be appreciated. This time, I used the massage service. The esthetician had excellent skills and provided outstanding hospitality; I'd like to come back just for another massage session. As always, with its well-equipped large bathhouse, sauna, stone spa facilities, and spa services overall—this accommodation is definitely worth staying at!

    A wonderful accommodation.

This is about my fifth stay here. My elderly parents are always delighted. The hot springs, food, and service are all impeccable.

    I had a relaxing time.

Arrived after 5 PM and relaxed on the comfortable restaurant sofa with a welcome drink of draft beer. Instantly shifted into relaxation mode. The bath, known for its skin-beautifying properties, left my skin smooth and refreshed. Each bath's temperature was displayed digitally, which delighted my wife who prefers lukewarm baths. Dinner was served one dish at a time to match our pace, accompanied by warm hospitality and detailed explanations from the staff. This was our first stay, but my wife and I are already planning to return as members next time.

You can enjoy from morning to night.

On the check-in day, you can enjoy the Onsen even before checking in, and on the check-out day, you can relax at the Facility all day long even after checking out at 10 AM. I personally left my luggage at the front desk, enjoyed another soak in the Onsen, and spent time lounging in the relaxation room. The women-only relaxation room is particularly nice with sheer curtains providing a private feel and excellent security for peace of mind. There are also plenty of women's magazines available, making it easy to spend hours there. However, while my Room had a large and luxurious open-air bath, some of the doors and furniture had peeling paint that gave off a shabby appearance. This cheap look was somewhat reminiscent of a love hotel and felt out of place for such an otherwise great Facility. It would be wonderful if they could repaint these areas to match their high standards. Additionally, it was disappointing that there were no bags or baskets provided in the Room for carrying items to the bath.

    Relax and unwind

This is my sixth stay. It feels like the price keeps increasing while the service and satisfaction are declining. There doesn’t seem to be much benefit for overnight guests compared to day-use visitors. I’m starting to feel there’s no need to stay overnight! Unfortunately, this time when I sat at the restaurant, the table was sticky, and under the chair was wet. Despite this, cleaning started without offering me a seat change, which was quite surprising.

    It's just a spa.

If I had known from the beginning that there would be many general visitors at the spa, I wouldn't have stayed. As a spa, it's acceptable, but as a Ryokan or Hotel, it feels overpriced. There are many people, and with many general customers, everywhere is crowded, and it's not possible to relax. I think it's fine to enjoy it as a spa, but I would like it to be more clearly stated that it is a spa for general customers.

    Onsen Facility

The category is a casual Hotel, but it feels more like a Property with an Onsen as the main feature. The first surprise was that, just like day-trip guests, we had to leave our shoes in a locker while carrying our suitcases. Then, barefoot, we proceeded to the counter for check-in, which was also the same process as for day-trip guests. We arrived exactly at the 3:00 PM check-in time. However, we were told that the Room key would only be available around 3:30 PM. I thought I might have misunderstood the check-in time, so I asked, "Isn't check-in from 3:00 PM?" The response was, "Check-in is possible from 3:00 PM, but the Room key is not ready yet." I was shocked. This was said as if it were completely normal, without any sign of apology. Fortunately, a female staff member who happened to pass by overheard our conversation, went to look for the Room key, and handed it to us. However, this is unacceptable behavior for a Hotel. If the Room key cannot be handed over at 3:00 PM, then check-in should start at 4:00 PM. Alternatively, if there is an unavoidable delay, they should offer something like a late check-out as compensation. The Room was newly renovated, and the Onsen was great, but the biggest issue was the dining experience. Although there was a dining area exclusively for staying guests, when we arrived for our 7:00 PM Reservation, we were not immediately shown to our seats and had to wait on chairs outside. Looking around, the restaurant for day-trip guests was full, with many people waiting. The staff seemed to be handling both groups, clearly understaffed. The impact of the staff shortage didn’t end there. The appetizers, sashimi, and fried dishes were served smoothly. After that, they lit the fire for the rice pot and the hot pot at the same time. While the rice cooked and we ate slowly, the next dishes didn’t arrive, and eventually, we ran out of rice. After waiting for nearly an hour, the fish dish finally arrived, but it was cold! The meat dish that followed shortly after was also cold. We had been waiting, so if the dishes were ready, they should have been brought out earlier. This was extremely disappointing. Day-trip guests seemed to be enjoying warm dishes. It was frustrating. When we pointed out these issues, the individual staff members responded appropriately. This doesn’t seem to be a problem with the staff but rather a case of being overwhelmed. This is an issue that the management should seriously consider.

    Healing

This is my fourth stay. I stayed in a newly established room. It was a more compact room than usual, but there was no inconvenience, and the open-air bath was as comfortable as always. You use geta to get to the room, and the combination of the corridor lights and the sound of the geta created a nice onsen atmosphere. There were only two hangers, but it would have been nice to have two more. Although not related to the property, the reservation site listed it as a twin, but it was a king double room. Upon rechecking the reservation site, it was listed as both twin and double. I think a revision is necessary.

    A break

This is my third visit. Every time I come, I feel at ease at this good property with excellent baths and meals. I would like to stay again when I return home.

    The best Stays.

I have stayed several times with my parents. My father particularly likes it, and we stay as a family once or twice a year. The Room and the large public bath are both good. After soaking in the Onsen here, my body feels lighter. This time, I also requested an aroma massage. The therapist was very skilled, and I asked for both body and facial treatments, and I was surprised that the sagging in my cheeks disappeared. I will use it again.

The whole family was very satisfied.

We stayed in two rooms with three generations, including a one-year-old child. The beds in the room were spacious, the open-air bath in the room was large, and there was a coffee machine, making it a really nice room. We were able to use the stone sauna quietly, and everyone seemed to be spending their time relaxing in the relaxation space within the facility. The meals were delicious, and I am grateful to all the staff for being very kind to the children. Although it is a bit far from Osaka, I would definitely like to visit again.
