    Mineral water

I have stayed at many different Hotels and Ryokans, but this is the first time I have been disappointed to find that no mineral water was provided.

    Few amenities.

Few amenities. It was impressive that there are two large public baths, and they were very spacious, but leaving belongings on shelves rather than in lockers felt unsafe these days. The building is old so it can’t be helped, but the Room door lock was hard to lock and unlock. It’s nice that there’s a LAWSON inside the building! However, the fried foods were never available no matter when I went. I wanted them as a late-night snack, so it was very disappointing. Breakfast was right near the end of service, but I was surprised at how few options there were. I enjoyed the open-air bath in my Room until just before checkout, but when I left the Room, housekeeping staff were waiting nearby as if to tell me to leave quickly, which didn’t feel good. I won’t be returning.

The Hotel staff were exceptionally welcoming and attentive. They contacted us the day before to Check Reservation, and their support at check-in and friendly greetings whenever we passed made us feel truly cared for. The view of Lake Biwa from the bath was also wonderful, making for a fantastic stay.

    We had an amazing time!!

We stayed with eight family members. The Room was spacious enough even for a large group and beautifully appointed, so we were very comfortable. The food and the Onsen were excellent. We also enjoyed the arcade and karaoke in the Hotel. I think it’s a Hotel that everyone can enjoy, from parents in their 80s to my 5-year-old niece. Above all, the staff were warm and kind, which is a major highlight as well. We’d love to visit again—thank you very much!

We waited in line for 40 minutes at the breakfast buffet.

The indoor bath in the women’s bath on the West Wing was too hot to soak for long. The East Wing was so far that I gave up after using it once. The staff were calm and pleasant, but maybe they’re not used to the work (or it’s just their generation), and I found myself being overly considerate. The Hotel has a nice atmosphere, and the surrounding area is also nice. If you go by car, you won’t have trouble finding places to eat. I got cold while waiting for the breakfast buffet. Some people gave up and left because time was running out. We used a 4-person table with just two people. Dinner is served to your table, but with two of us at a 2-person table there was no space to set things down, which took away from the experience. The staff seemed overwhelmed with too much to do and were flustered. When I called someone over, they seemed mentally overloaded and we had to wait quite a while. Overall, though, it really is a great Hotel.

    The Room was very nice.

We chose a Room with an open-air bath this time, and it was more spacious than expected. Our whole family, including our child, really enjoyed it and we were very satisfied. The dining area was described as semi-private, but it felt almost like a private room—there was no door, yet it was still quite secluded. The staff also treated our child with great care, which we truly appreciated. The open-air bath in the large public bath with a Lake Biwa view was nice, but since the men’s bath is on the first floor, the lake isn’t very visible when soaking up to your shoulders, which was a bit disappointing. However, the in-room bath was excellent, so overall I would give 5 stars. As for Room amenities (4 stars), there were no bath towels prepared in the room for our child. Since our child’s Reservation did not include meals or bedding, we understood that items like a yukata would not be provided as explained. Still, there’s no way a child won’t use the bath, so we would have liked towels to be provided by default without having to request them. Overall we were very satisfied and would love to stay again if we have the opportunity.

    Thank you very much.

Stayed with a family of seven. Contacted the accommodation a few days prior to confirm room details, such as the number of beds, and found out that the desired view would result in a room without beds. Upon informing them about my 80-year-old mother who has difficulty getting up from the floor, they kindly arranged for a single bed to be brought in, which was incredibly helpful. Additionally, we requested a table seat for our child with disabilities who uses a large wheelchair during meals, and they accommodated this request as well. The view was excellent, and the meals were varied, plentiful, and delicious. However, due to the summer sun streaming directly into the room in exchange for the great view in the morning hours, it wasn’t possible to leave windows open at that time. That said, thanks to double sliding doors (shoji and fusuma), it could be made completely dark—better than blackout curtains in my opinion. Enjoyed watching beautiful sunrises followed by going back to sleep. The bathroom setup included a sink area that doubled as a changing space with lockable doors—perfect for our daughter with disabilities—and an indoor bath connected to an open-air bath on the balcony. This arrangement worked very well for us. The Lawson convenience store inside the hotel was also convenient. While my family didn’t notice anything unusual about it, I did wonder if their drinking water might have been tap water—it caught my attention slightly but wasn’t much of an issue. Overall though, we had an enjoyable stay! Thank you so much!

A Classic Accommodation for Kansai Travel!

A luxurious Ryokan where solo travelers can stay comfortably, offering attentive service, seasonal Kaiseki cuisine, spacious Japanese-style rooms, an Onsen with a stunning view of Lake Biwa, and ample parking. Is there any other Ryokan in the Kansai area that combines such ease and luxury? I’ve become a complete repeat guest! Looking forward to staying again!

    A luxurious hidden retreat

Born in Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City, I often visited Lake Biwa in Shiga Prefecture but had never been south of Katata. While searching for a Hotel to thoroughly explore the area, I came across this place. The price is slightly on the higher side, but it offers excellent customer service, delicious meals (the duck hot pot was exquisite), comfortable rooms, Onsen facilities, a souvenir shop that also serves as a convenience store, and a spacious parking lot. I’m thrilled to have discovered such an amazing Hotel unexpectedly! Definitely coming back! Looking forward to staying here again!

    Hot Spring for Beautiful Skin

There are two baths, and my skin felt smooth and refreshed. The quality of the Onsen was excellent and very relaxing. It would be perfect if makeup cleansing products were available in the bathing area. The shuttle service driver and front desk staff were very polite and attentive. However, the breakfast venue was extremely crowded, making it difficult to find a seat. There was a long line at the buffet, and the staff lacked smiles, which I think needs improvement. The variety of dishes and taste were sufficient; the issue lies with traffic flow and seating capacity. With only one serving station for that many people, I believe it would help reduce congestion if food could be served from multiple points to allow better distribution. It would also be nice if there were more space between tables so guests could enjoy their meals more comfortably. Considering how busy it was on Saturday morning, I can only imagine how chaotic Sunday morning might get! Instead of focusing solely on turning over tables quickly during breakfast hours, I hope efforts will be made to create an enjoyable dining experience for everyone. The view of Lake Biwa from the Onsen was absolutely stunning!

    Everything except dinner was great.

I stayed in a room with an open-air bath, and both the private bath and the two large public baths were excellent. My skin felt smooth, and I was very satisfied. However, for dinner, some dishes listed on the menu were not served, and when I asked about it, they only said they would check but never followed up. Additionally, although powdered sugar was mentioned for the fruits, it was not included. I had informed them that my partner cannot eat raw food, and there was even a note about this on the chair. However, it seemed like the staff serving us did not notice or made mistakes during service. The dinner experience was truly disappointing.

    Excellent

Excellent in every aspect. The most outstanding point is the hardworking and excellent staff. In urban hotels, there are often many foreign staff members, which may be fine for business purposes but lacks a warm and homely feeling. Here, the restaurant is managed by experienced senior women who provide exceptional service. The young male room attendant was energetic and professional, showing great potential to become a future leader—such young talents are being nurtured well here. I would love to visit again and again, even alone. The view of Lake Biwa from the window surpasses any million-dollar night view; everyone will surely agree with this sentiment. Highly recommended facility! One small request: Please prepare separate towels for face and hands in the room from the beginning, apart from those provided for Onsen use.

You can watch the sunrise from the large public bath with a view of Lake Biwa! The morning sun rising from the mountains and the surface of Lake Biwa illuminated by it are indescribably beautiful. The guest rooms are so spacious that they feel too large for just two people, and each room has both an indoor bath and an open-air bath. You need to fill the indoor bath yourself, but the open-air bath is available anytime. The meals were also delicious. Both large public baths have plenty of washing areas, and the bathtubs are spacious. I think it's an old hotel, so the building itself is a bit old, but it's not dirty. It's a 20-minute train ride from Kyoto Station, and there was a bus from the nearest station, so access was not a problem. I was so satisfied that I can't think of any negatives, and I would love to stay again.

A well-located Onsen with excellent hospitality

The facility is old, and the interior has a nostalgic atmosphere, but the staff work hard, and it was an onsen that revitalized us. It was a property we chose simply for visiting Miidera, but the Omi beef shabu-shabu was delicious, and although breakfast and other meals were ordinary, the spacious interior allowed us to relax and sleep well. The onsen overlooking Lake Biwa was pleasant, and gazing at the mountains beyond the lake made us feel as if we had slipped into the Heian period.

    Satisfied.

There were some reviews about poor service, so I was worried, but it was quite normal. The room was quite spacious, and even with a family of six, we were able to relax comfortably. The open-air bath in the room was nice as we could use it without any hesitation.

It was a very disappointing response.

It was a very disappointing Hotel. I will not use it again. Specifically, the Onsen was ordinary, but other aspects, especially the staffing, were unacceptable. Among other things, the staff during dinner was clearly insufficient in both quality and quantity: ① Even when ordering drinks, they took a long time to arrive. ② There was no explanation on how to eat the meals. (There were several dishes that required the guest to do some work themselves) ③ The meat dish cooked at the table was undercooked due to insufficient heat. ⑤ Unless we asked each time, the next meal would not be served. This was the disastrous situation. I thought it would be a good opportunity to show filial piety and took my parents on this trip, but this service made my parents angry and ruined the trip. Furthermore, at checkout, they made a mistake with the bill (confused with another customer), which left me beyond angry and simply astonished.

Everything is perfectly maintained, even from the perspective of Japan's best cleaning.

As someone who has stayed at numerous properties both domestically and internationally, I can say that this place is exceptionally clean. Even the small balcony grooves under the non-opening windows, which are usually overlooked, are spotless without a single dead leaf or speck of dirt. Additionally, the balcony of the adjacent building was under construction, yet it was equally perfectly cleaned and organized, which was surprising. The level of cleanliness is different here; it feels like the purified air of a shrine or temple. This is a wonderful hotel where this spirit is evident in everything. The onsen and facilities are spacious, clean, and impressive, making it the best in the area. Nearby ryokans have a limited number of karaoke boxes, but this place has several rooms. It would be better if there were more Japanese-Western style rooms. The dining venue could be more satisfying if it had partitions like a restaurant or even a stage for live performances. In Arima, the greetings from the head chef and staff are appreciated. Please incorporate something unique that sets you apart from the surrounding ryokans. There is little promotion of karaoke and izakaya, but offering a 1000 yen discount coupon per room could increase profits as everyone would go. Nearby smaller ryokans are also starting to come up with ideas like ice cream service or wine service time to compete. This place is kept beautifully clean to a sacred level, and the staff is wonderful. I was very impressed with Kyo-omi(Kyoomi). It would be even better if there were some unique touches during dinner. I am grateful for a wonderful trip.

    The worst food ever.

I am exploring a five-star inn recommended by the Tourism Association Newspaper. I have visited many inns across the country. Among the places I have been to, this one provided the worst food.
