    This hotel, booked through IKYU.com, is top-ranked. The room was spacious, and the view from the room (Lake Suwa and nighttime fireworks) was spectacular. Beautiful flower arrangements were displayed throughout, showcasing a spirit of hospitality. Although the staff member guiding us to our room was from abroad, they greeted us politely in Japanese and provided a thorough explanation—truly impressive. Dinner was delicious and very filling. If given the chance, I would love to stay here again. On the second day, I attended the Grape Festival in Shiojiri and purchased plenty of grapes!

    Overall, I was satisfied. The view from the Room and the spacious bath in the suite were excellent. The floor was also an exclusive one. However, the apple juice, water, and sake labeled as "all-you-can-drink" in the hallway were gone by night and not replenished. That day, there seemed to be several children on that floor, so the juice ran out quickly. It would have been better if complimentary drinks were provided in the Room's refrigerator instead. There was no guidance about a welcome drink upon arrival; I only found out about it from a notice in the elevator when heading to dinner, but by then it was too late. Dinner dishes were delicious individually but felt lacking in volume—suitable for women but might leave men wanting more. Rice at dinner consisted of just one light bowlful served directly into a small bowl. When I tried to order additional dishes, I was told it had to be done by 5:30 PM; this should have been explained upfront. I gave a gift to our assigned Ryokan staff member (Nakai-san), but they weren’t present during breakfast service; other guests seemed to have their assigned staff attending them with more personalized care—it felt different for us in comparison. On a positive note, sightseeing spots recommended by our assigned staff member were enjoyable!

    A charming accommodation with a sense of history

    I decided to stay after seeing photos online. The entrance staff and front desk team greeted me with warm smiles and kindness, which made my experience truly satisfying! It was a pleasure to stay at such a charming hotel that is both reasonably priced and rich in history. The room was spacious, and the onsen offered a variety of options, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Since it was summer, I could walk to the lakeside and watch the daily fireworks up close. A young staff member at the front desk kindly recommended a great nearby izakaya with detailed guidance—thank you! While popular among families, this hotel offers excellent value for money.

    We appreciate the warm hospitality of all our staff.

    I stayed here as part of a motorcycle touring trip. The accommodation has a historical charm, but it is well-maintained and provided a comfortable stay. The room offered a stunning view of Lake Suwa! What I especially appreciated was the consideration given to motorcycle parking. Upon arrival, despite the heat, staff guided me to park safely, which gave me peace of mind. The most memorable aspect of the accommodation was the staff's hospitality. Everyone was polite and warm, making my stay very pleasant and leaving me with a strong desire to return. In addition to professional conversations, they casually engaged in friendly chats like "Wasn't it hot riding your bike?" and remembered me throughout my stay, which made me very happy. Breakfast was a hearty Japanese set meal that was delicious with unlimited rice refills. Additionally, salad, yogurt, milk, and more were available self-serve style—an incredibly satisfying start to the day. The moment you step into the lobby is breathtaking. There’s flowing water with waterfalls; clear water where koi swim; even a pond near the elevator with turtles—all creating an atmosphere that amazed me. The ryokan as a whole creates an extraordinary experience that soothes your soul throughout your stay. It’s truly a place I deeply wish to visit again. Thank you so much for everything—I’ll definitely be back!

    Very friendly

    People in Nagano are so gentle, kind, and hospitable. The staff at the front desk and the dining area were very pleasant. The meals were delicious, we enjoyed the Onsen, and relaxed in a cozy Japanese-style Room! We watched fireworks from our Room. We would love to visit again!

    Visit every 3 years and it's the worst.

    After visiting a grave in Tatsuno Town, we stayed at an accommodation in either Kamisuwa Onsen or Tateshina. We stayed at Hama no Yu three and six years ago. The meals were excellent, the view from the room was perfect, and it was one of our favorite hotels. At dinner, we ordered alcohol upon being seated. Suddenly, the iron plate for meat was lit—wasn't that supposed to be for the main dish? The sweet shrimp I previously mentioned as a complaint wasn't served this time, which was good. However, there were no explanations about the dishes; dessert was served simultaneously with rice; and there were no explanations about tea or water. The room had a view of fireworks from its floor level but lacked small lights inside. While there is a shoji screen between the terrace and Japanese-style room area, there wasn’t one between the small raised area and terrace. As a result, light from just using lamps on the terrace leaked into other parts like tatami areas. Fireworks weren’t as impressive compared to before—this felt disappointing overall. Breakfast service staff next morning remained consistent & friendly like always though! Parking lot safety could improve: elderly driver exiting seemed risky without guides/helpers stationed nearby assisting better navigation

    A relaxing Hotel, but...

    The warmth of the staff from check-in to breakfast and check-out made for a pleasant stay at the Hotel. That said, I felt there was room for improvement. 1. It might depend on the location of the Room, but there were loud noises at night (though not while sleeping). The sound of water running in the bathroom was particularly loud. 2. While there were no issues in the morning, the Wifi signal at night was too weak to be usable. 3. The traditional Japanese breakfast was delicious, but I felt there was a lack of vegetable variety and that overall portions were small for me. I also wondered why natto wasn't included.

    The entrance was spacious and beautiful. The room was clean, offering a stunning view of Lake Suwa, allowing for a relaxing stay. The Onsen was delightful, and the complimentary Karin drink service was satisfying. The meals were incredibly delicious. It was an excellent Ryokan with attention to every detail. I would love to visit again!

    The accommodation was chosen for a room with a bath and washing area, but the room's bath was small, and the washing area was so cramped that it felt uninviting. Since there was availability for a private bath, I decided to use it instead, but in hindsight, I feel like I could have chosen something else. Disappointing.

    After check-out, the tall doorman-like gentlemen neither greeted us, helped with luggage, nor saw us off—they just stood there like security guards. It felt unthoughtful and left a poor final impression of the Hotel. I wouldn't recommend it to my friends.

    I had a relaxing time.

    It was a quiet period, so the large public bath felt like a private one. With breakfast included, we were able to relax thoroughly. The staff were all very pleasant, making it a great trip that helped us recover from New Year fatigue.

    The atmosphere of the accommodation, service, cuisine, and room were all excellent, and I was very satisfied! Being a detached accommodation allowed for a private and relaxing stay. I would love to visit again in a different season.

    The cuisine, Onsen, and guest rooms are excellent.

    I stay on the premium floor every season. The Aoi Kaiseki cuisine is excellent in both quality and quantity, featuring a refined menu based on Kyoto-style kaiseki that highlights seasonal ingredients and tastes absolutely delicious. The presentation is also beautiful and elegant. The guest rooms, equipped with comfortable bedding, amenities, and supplies, offer a stunning view of Lake Suwa and the Hotaka Mountain Range. The sunset scenery was particularly breathtaking. The spacious private bath with natural hot spring water allows for a luxurious soak while enjoying the view of Lake Suwa. I had an indulgent holiday in Shinshu that rejuvenated both body and mind. I am already looking forward to my stay next spring!

    It was a wonderful accommodation.

    The service, meals, room, and bath were all excellent. Despite being a large accommodation, the staff provided warm and friendly service with smiles. The renovated room on the 10th floor offered a stunning view of Lake Suwa, complete with a cozy kotatsu and high-quality bedding for a relaxing stay. Dinner was served in a private dining room where we enjoyed delicious dishes. The matsutake mushroom dobin-mushi and grilled beef with matsutake mushrooms were delightful highlights. The head chef from Kyoto brought an exquisite touch to the presentation and tableware reminiscent of Kyoto kaiseki cuisine. The explanations and stories shared by the attendant made dinner even more enjoyable. One suggestion would be to expand the variety of soft drinks available; while many accommodations in Shinshu offer locally sourced apple or grape juices, bottled options felt less special here. For breathtaking views of Lake Suwa, higher floors are recommended. Among several accommodations we've stayed at in Kamisuwa Onsen, Hamanoyu was by far the best experience—we look forward to visiting again!

    Excellent views and a wonderful bath.

    The view and the bath were wonderful. However, there was no sense of uniqueness, and the service was quite ordinary. Upon departure, all the staff waved at the sightseeing bus, but as we were in a private car, we were completely ignored. Well, that's the kind of Ryokan it is.

    A place to stay that you'll want to visit again.

    The hospitality from everyone was excellent, and it was clear how much care is put into maintaining the Ryokan. We had dinner in a private room, and both the atmosphere and the food were outstanding. The Onsen was also very satisfying! If I had to mention something, it would be nice to have more amenities and an ice machine, but there was nothing essential that felt lacking! I will definitely stay here again when I travel to Kamisuwa!

    It was a wonderful trip.

    We visited the Suwa Four Shrines and arrived early at the accommodation. After checking in, we immediately enjoyed a bath, which was delightful as it wasn't crowded. We rested until dinner and looked forward to the meal with excitement, but unfortunately, it felt like pre-prepared food and was not satisfying. Considering the number of guests at this accommodation, some effort to avoid a pre-prepared feeling might be necessary. While we appreciated that the soy milk hot pot was already heated from the start, it might not suit those who wish to enjoy their drinks leisurely. Nevertheless, we believe it was a good trip overall.

    A casual accommodation...

    Due to a sudden break, I made a reservation two weeks ago. Honestly, I thought 90 square meters was more than enough... However! From the car drop-off to the lobby and check-in at the room, I experienced such a pleasant atmosphere and excellent service. While everything was perfect, my personal favorite was the open-air bath. Since the room is lakefront with no obstructions, you can enjoy an exclusive view of Lake Suwa even from the bath. Although it’s labeled as a semi-open-air bath, when you fully open the sliding doors, it feels just like an open-air bath with refreshing breezes coming in. Please take a look at the pictures for yourself. I will visit again!

    The room was renovat...

    The room was renovated, very clean, and offered a beautiful view of Lake Suwa (even from the bath). It would have been more pleasant if the guidance to the room upon arrival had been a bit more welcoming. The private onsen bath in the room had natural hot spring water flowing slightly, but it was curious that it didn’t overflow even after some time (it is said not to be circulated). Dinner was satisfying with a sense of seasonality. The dobin-mushi with Nagano-grown matsutake mushrooms had a wonderful aroma and was delicious. Both dinner and breakfast were served in a quiet private room facing a serene garden, allowing for relaxed dining. It was an accommodation I’d like to stay at again if given the chance. Thank you for your hospitality!

    I stayed in a 105-square-meter room on the 12th floor. The room was lovely, but the open-air bath in the room was incredibly spacious and amazing. The view was great, and I would love to make a reservation during the fireworks festival. The staff member who assisted me was young, energetic, and left a very positive impression.

    The Onsen was excellent.

    The large public bath had amenities like lotion and milk lotion, which was great, but it would have been nice to have them in the room as well. Additionally, I thought it was excellent that the large public bath offered multiple options for shampoo and conditioner. The Onsen water was at a perfect temperature, leaving my skin smooth after bathing. I stayed with a breakfast-included plan, and the breakfast was served individually in a traditional style with a wide variety of side dishes. The staff's attentive service made for an enjoyable dining experience, and I left feeling very full. The room had slightly dated walls that gave off an old-fashioned vibe. The faucet in the washroom was somewhat difficult to use as the water came out too strongly, often splashing around excessively. While this might just take some getting used to, it was a bit disappointing overall.

    The bath and breakfast are excellent!

    I stayed with my high school son in Chino for work, and both the bath and breakfast were excellent. The women's bath included a lavender bath and herbal bath, as well as a small but very relaxing open-air rock bath. Breakfast was delicious, with each dish carefully prepared. The salad, bacon sausages, and scrambled eggs were served buffet-style, all of which were tasty and gave us an energy boost to start the day. The handwritten bath guide provided by the Ryokan was also a charming touch that warmed our hearts. Next time, I would love to stay in a private room with an open-air bath together with my family. Thank you very much!

    A large inn with attention to every detail.

    A large ryokan towering in the center of the hot spring town, nestled between Kami-Suwa Station and the lakeshore. It's within walking distance from the station. The car drop-off area is spacious, and the parking lot is nearby and easy to park in. The welcome is efficient. You go up in a see-through elevator and check in at your room. The room is spacious and clean. The glass and metal parts are sparkling. The design makes it easy to place things. There are splendid flowers arranged. You can view the outside from three sides of the room, but the windows do not open. The windows facing outside are difficult to clean, so the dirt is understandable. There are also large ryokans on the lake side, but from the higher floors, you can enjoy a wide view of the lake over the roofs. The bathroom in the room is small but bright and clean. Unfortunately, the frosted glass window does not open, so you cannot see outside. There is a large TV and a comfortable bed. The yukata is comfortable to wear. The large bath is spacious enough, but it seems to get crowded at certain times. The open-air bath is sandwiched between buildings, so there is no view. You can buy a beer after the bath from the vending machine in front of the large bath. The low-rise part of the ryokan (another building?) has a skylight roof, and there is a garden with water flowing from the second floor to the first floor indoors, with rooms lined up facing the garden, giving it the atmosphere of a detached restaurant. You can open the snow-viewing shoji halfway and enjoy a meal calmly in a tatami room with a private table while gazing at the "mountain stream." The meal is a sufficient amount of gourmet food. After the meal, a seasonal fireworks display is launched over the lake in front at a slightly late hour. As the fireworks end, a drum show begins in the lobby. All the staff have good manners, and you can feel their thoughtfulness. There are no gaps in service, which is common in large ryokans.
