    Overall, it is a good Hotel.

    The facility is old but clean. However, due to window condensation, it might need a bit more cleaning. The meals for both breakfast and dinner are very delicious. The Onsen is lukewarm, so you need to take your time to enjoy it. I would like to stay here again.

    Is the cypress barrel-style bath not available for use?

    At check-in, the staff was decorating the Christmas tree. The Room was not thoroughly cleaned, with a few strands of hair visible on the chair in the washroom, which was unpleasant. On the first day, the women's bath had an indoor large bath and a cypress barrel-style bath that were supposed to be available but were not in use, making the large bath cold. Dust had accumulated above the mirror with a hairdryer next to the changing room. The outdoor bath in the men's area was very lukewarm. Dinner was delicious, especially the steak, domestic beef curry, and miso soup. The fruit sandwich at breakfast was also tasty. It was great to stay at such a reasonable price through IKYU.com!

    Great value for money! Perfect for three families.

    The facility felt a bit dated, but the lobby was spacious, and the onsen was comfortable and enjoyable. The room was well-maintained and very comfortable to stay in. The meals were delicious, especially the steak at dinner and the fruit sandwich at breakfast. In this time of rising prices, I truly appreciated the creativity in offering such wonderful options. I have stayed at accommodations across the whole country, but it was my first time having a fruit sandwich for breakfast—it left a lasting impression! Taking an early morning stroll to the sculpture park or Lake Tateshina was also refreshing. Next time, I would love to visit again with my brother's family and mother. Thank you for providing such a pleasant experience!

    Request for Improvement in Room Equipment Management

    Positive Points: The dinner steak and breakfast fruit sandwich were as delicious as their reputation suggested, leaving us very satisfied. Additionally, the mini saxophone live performance after dinner was delightful and became a wonderful memory. Thank you. Points for Improvement: During the room tour after arrival, we noticed that the towel sets (large and small) for two people were incomplete. We explained the situation to the front desk but were asked to search again ourselves. Eventually, we had to report back to the front desk before receiving assistance. This made us feel uncomfortable, as if we were being doubted. We kindly request improvements in inventory management of amenities.

    Almost perfect, just a little short of full marks!

    The breakfast and dinner buffets were outstanding as highly recommended by everyone, and I was very satisfied. However, it was disappointing that the morning porridge was not good. When I mentioned this to the reception staff, they promptly responded by saying they would inform the head chef, which was impressive. I will definitely visit again either this winter or next spring. Looking forward to enjoying my favorite porridge!

    The sculpture park is great.

    Over half a century ago, this Hotel was a luxury stay-type hotel called "Villa Tateshina." Since then, it has changed management and names several times. When I stayed here years ago, I could feel the chefs' pride from the past, but that seems to have faded now. The Room was very spacious with a large bed, but it was not in the newer building and lacked tasteful decor. Most notably, despite having an in-room jacuzzi bath, there was no dressing area provided. Additionally, there were many floor level differences which felt unsafe at night. However, the location is excellent and the rates are reasonable, so it might still be worth staying here. Be sure to take a walk through the adjacent sculpture park!

    Sculpture Park and Lake Tateshina Combined

    I have stayed for 2 nights and 3 days with my pet several times. The hotel's sculpture park is wonderful, and the scenery blending Tateshina Lake with the backdrop of mountains is truly beautiful. Unfortunately, this time, the ottoman-style chair in the room was surprisingly damaged, which was disappointing. However, the meals were delicious as always, and I am very satisfied. I look forward to staying again in spring.

    Satisfied.

    I used the senior discount for my stay. The twin room was more than twice the size of a business hotel room, allowing me to relax comfortably. Both the steak for dinner and the fruit sandwich for breakfast were delicious, with a wide variety of dishes that left me satisfied. However, as with many accommodations, I wish the hairdryer in the room had stronger output and that there was face soap in addition to hand soap. I'm fully supportive of the senior discount—it allowed me to stay affordably and I’m very satisfied. Thank you!

    A Hotel with a spacious and very pleasant garden

    While walking around Lake Tateshina before check-in time, I wandered into a large garden and discovered that it was this hotel. In the well-maintained lawn garden, I saw guests with their dogs. It was an ideal first encounter with this accommodation, and I instantly fell in love with it. I would love to visit this accommodation again in a different season.

    Wonderful!!

    Everything became a wonderful memory. 1) Front Desk: Thank you for the kind and attentive service. 2) Room: The Japanese-Western style room was very spacious and clean. 3) Bath: Although the floor was slippery and a bit scary, it was well-maintained overall. 4) Meals: All the Japanese, Western, and Chinese dishes were delicious, with the morning fruit sandwich being particularly memorable. The wide variety of alcoholic beverages available for an additional fee left us pleasantly overwhelmed (laughs). This trip was planned by my wife as a celebration of my retirement after 53 years at my company, and it felt like it truly eased the fatigue from those long years. In the morning, we enjoyed a leisurely stroll together through the beautifully maintained sculpture garden in Hotel's grounds. Even on our way home in the car and during dinner after returning home, we couldn't stop talking about our stay at Hotel. We both agreed that we'd love to visit again someday. Thank you so much!

    A Resort Hotel with Delicious Breakfast and Dinner Buffets

    The buffet offers a wide variety of dishes, including Japanese, Western, and Chinese cuisine, all of which are delicious. The all-you-can-drink option is also reasonably priced. The room is spacious and comfortable at 40 square meters. While the bathtub in the room is small, the large public bath features natural Onsen where you can relax in the hot water. Stepping out to what seems like a backyard leads directly to Lake Tateshina, providing a full highland resort experience.

    This is a cost-effective accommodation.

    We had a great time.

    Stayed for one night with my dog. The facility is old, but the room was clean and well-maintained. The meals were delicious, and the view was absolutely stunning. The onsen had a smooth texture and was very relaxing. Personally, I felt uneasy leaving my dog in the room during meals, but overall it was a good experience.

    Thank you for your hospitality. Surrounded by rich nature, we were able to spend a relaxing and peaceful time in a wonderful environment. Walking in the fresh morning air was particularly refreshing. As for the meals, while they were delicious, we felt that they slightly fell short of exceeding our high expectations—though this may have been due to our own elevated anticipation.     Pet Room (Connect Type) - Important Information

    Important Notes Regarding the Dog Room (Connect Type) for Your Reference: - The connect type room features an interior door (without a lock) between the two rooms, and one of the hallway-side doors has been removed to create a single entrance. As a result, access to the back room requires passing through the front room, compromising privacy in the front room. It is more appropriate to consider this as a spacious main room with an additional bedroom rather than a typical connect-type accommodation. Both rooms have their own bathrooms; however, only the bathroom in the front room is equipped with a fixed low-power hairdryer. - Although not mentioned in the accommodation terms or guidelines, there was signage at the entrance of the backroom stating "No dogs allowed beyond this point." While advertised as pet-friendly connect rooms, one of these rooms does not allow pets. - Unlike standard connect-type accommodations where four keys (two per room) are typically provided, only two keys are issued here due to having just one hallway door. This limits flexibility for groups larger than two when splitting activities (e.g., separate bathing and park visits). - The hotel’s front desk and parking area are located on level 3; however, if you do not have a pet carrier or cage, you must use a dedicated pet entrance located on level 1 near employee entrances or service delivery areas below street level between parking and hotel premises. Temporary parking near this entrance is allowed for unloading luggage; however, there is some distance from this point to guest rooms. Note that luggage carts appear to be available only at reception on level 3.

    The bathroom has water stains and slime, a large amount of hair in the bathtub, and cobwebs on various windows.

    The Facility is old, which is understandable, but the drain had visible red mold, and the safe in the Room was unusable as it couldn't be locked. Although I informed the front desk, no action was taken. Additionally, there was a mysterious protrusion that caused an injury to my hand. The ceiling light in the Room was out. What is going on here?! I usually stay at slightly higher-end Hotels but chose this one due to excessive noise from too many children at other places. Even if it's old, I wish they would properly maintain their Facilities. Meals were buffet-style; while not offering a large variety of dishes, I enjoyed the morning fruit sandwiches that I had been looking forward to. Dinner included crab and was good—flavor-wise it was fairly standard. Being adjacent to Lake Tateshina made for pleasant walks. Despite being during peak Obon season, most guests were adults so it was relatively quiet overall. Most notably, there was live saxophone music at night with requests accepted—a lovely touch! I had a relaxing and enjoyable time here and might return just for the live performance! By the way, there’s a small shop where you can buy items like instant noodles suitable for hikers or campers. Note that there’s no ice machine available in the Hotel.

    The garden and meals were particularly excellent.

    We stayed as a group of three generations, five people in total. The building is old, but the room was spacious and nice. The sculpture park was particularly well-maintained, and the lawn garden was very beautiful. As expected from Shinshu, even in midsummer, the gentle breeze was pleasantly refreshing. The meals were just as good as the reviews mentioned. The steak was delicious, but the chilled corn soup stood out with its rich sweet corn flavor—absolutely delightful! The fruit sandwich for breakfast was also excellent. As for the onsen, there seemed to be an issue with temperature adjustment that day, resulting in one lukewarm bath. However, even considering that minor issue, it was a wonderful accommodation overall. We would love to stay again. Thank you very much!

    Pet-Friendly Room

    The pet entrance was located next to the employee entrance with a heavy door. The hallway leading to the room had a strong musty smell. The room door had a push-button lock from the inside and was not auto-locking, which I wasn’t used to and accidentally left it unlocked several times when going out. The room itself was simple, clean, and spacious enough, but the bathroom felt outdated and I preferred not to look closely while using it. While there were many photos of other rooms looking renovated and clean, perhaps the pet-friendly rooms have yet to be updated. The restaurant mentioned having expanded table spacing to about 2 meters, but currently, they seem closer together. The meals seemed more catered towards children. The adjacent sculpture park was lovely and perfect for a walk.

    Quite disappointing.

    The room was spacious and comfortable. However, the freezer didn’t work, there was no ice machine, and even the shop was sold out of ice, which was disappointing. The sink area was also too small and inconvenient to use. The Onsen in the morning with an open-air bath felt great, but the nighttime experience was underwhelming. While there’s a cold bath in the outdoor sauna area, having another cold bath in an indoor barrel tub seemed unnecessary. The changing room only had baskets; although there were valuables boxes available, the lack of lockers with keys was inconvenient. The garden for strolling was cool and refreshing. The breakfast and dinner buffets offered a wide variety of dishes and were satisfying. However, considering how far we traveled to get here, it felt disappointing for the price paid overall.

    We stayed during a series of hot summer days. In the cool air, my elderly mother and our two small dogs were very pleased. Overall, we had an enjoyable time. However, there were some concerns: While the Room was spacious enough despite its age, staying on the first floor with pets felt slightly damp and humid. Despite being charged a pet fee, there were no pet sheets provided, and the flooring was slippery, causing our dogs to fall multiple times. For travelers with pets who prioritize their comfort, it would be appreciated if more consideration could be given to these aspects.

    The surroundings of the Hotel were enjoyable, but the Room was not.

    The early morning walk around the sculpture park and Lake Tateshina near the hotel was a refreshing escape from Tokyo's summer and thoroughly enjoyable. The dinner steak and breakfast fruit sandwich, which I had been looking forward to after reading reviews, were delicious. The evening saxophone performance was also delightful, featuring some of my favorite songs. However, the room I reserved offered no view at all, and as mentioned in reviews, the combined toilet and sink area was cramped with a step at the exit that made it unsuitable for elderly guests. While I expected the hotel's facilities to be outdated, it was disappointing that this detracted from the otherwise excellent surrounding environment and dining services.

    The buffet, both breakfast and dinner, was very delicious and highly satisfying. However, the Onsen was shocking as it resembled a construction site. Yellow and black tape marked areas to avoid, and green traffic cones covered some lights. Wooden buckets and chairs were so discolored that they felt unpleasant to use. The other bath made of plastic also showed noticeable mold. While the shampoo and conditioner provided were high-quality POLA hotel products, the quality of the Onsen water was good, and guests followed proper manners; this state of the bath felt unacceptable. The same can be said for the Room and lobby areas. Although wallpaper had been replaced beautifully, bathroom cleanliness was extremely poor in contrast. Staff interactions were not unfriendly but lacked clarity regarding details like bathing tax; it wasn’t explained during check-in but charged upon departure without any prior notice or explanation—something usually addressed at check-in which came as a surprise. Additionally, staff scolding each other in front of guests at the buffet venue or showing intimidating attitudes while explaining all-you-can-drink options to other customers left a negative impression. I understand that operating at this price point must be challenging for staff members; however, it seemed like this level of service justified only visiting if priced accordingly. If you can overlook these issues with a positive attitude while enjoying your stay here—the food is delicious enough alongside decent Onsen quality—and Rooms are not entirely bad either—it might suit those who aren’t too particular about such matters well enough! But considering there are many Hotels offering better hospitality within similar price ranges elsewhere—I recommend carefully evaluating before booking here!

    The Hotel had an overall old-fashioned feel. However, the Room, bathroom, entrance, and stairs featured marble walls, giving it a luxurious atmosphere. After dinner, there was a solo saxophone concert by request which was fantastic. It seems to be held almost daily during summer and became a great memory. The staff were kind despite some foreign staff having slightly awkward Japanese that caused minor confusion. Thank you for the hospitality. The meals exceeded their price in value with plenty of variety and were generally delicious. Breakfast featured fruit sandwiches as the main dish which seemed popular, though I didn’t eat much of it myself. I would have appreciated more traditional Japanese breakfast options. During our 2-night stay: on the first morning there was freshly made omelet; on the second morning fried eggs were prepared on-site. Regarding the bath facilities: they felt somewhat dated but included natural hot spring baths, cold baths, and open-air baths—overall average quality. One concern was that some white plastic bath buckets had black mold at their base which left a bad impression. The sauna was unexpectedly small with seating so high that my feet couldn’t touch the floor comfortably. As for location: situated by Lake Tateshina with direct access to walking trails from within its grounds—it’s perfect for morning strolls and has an excellent setting overall. The twin beds in our Room were spacious and comfortable while the Room itself was large and clean. I’d love to stay here again in the future. Thank you very much!

    The saxophone performance was wonderful!!

    The hotel was old, but it was well-cleaned, and the room was spacious and comfortable. The buffet was delicious, but during our 4-night stay, the dishes were mostly the same.     The concert is amazing.

    The 8 PM concert was amazing and truly moving. I enjoyed the requested songs. The sculpture park was also wonderful, spacious, and refreshing. The meals were excellent and delicious. However, it was disappointing that the elderly gentleman at the front desk did not provide any information about the concert despite it being my first visit. Everyone else was very pleasant, which made this even more unfortunate.

    My favorite accommodation.

    I used this facility for the first time last month with my elderly parents, and it was very well-received, so we returned. While the aging of the facility cannot be denied, it is thoroughly cleaned and provides a comfortable stay. Walking in the garden is very pleasant, and the meals are delicious. I would like to visit again in autumn.
