    Thank you for the learning experience.

    This was our second stay at this Hotel on Awaji Island after a long time, but we had completely forgotten about our previous visit. Perhaps it's because we've aged. Honestly, there were more disappointing aspects than pleasant ones. The Room was a Japanese-Western style room with a Nagomi Room, and it was very nice; however, the automatic toilet lid was broken. The Nagomi Room also felt crowded, and the next morning, the coffee machine was clogged and unusable. Since the sea is right in front of the Hotel, it might be suitable for families with small children. However, I don't think it's ideal for adults looking to relax peacefully. We debated between this Hotel and Yumekaiyu Awajishima but chose this one due to its slightly lower price and better room options—this turned out to be a miscalculation. The bath area had great views and offered a calm atmosphere; however, the sauna was small and lacked a cold bath, which was disappointing. The food did not suit our taste either. Dinner seemed like a half-buffet style? Most dishes were cold; fried items weren't freshly made; even Ajillo lacked seafood ingredients as expected. The main dish we could choose came before pasta without any impressive presentation—it felt pre-prepared. Breakfast buffet exceeded expectations in terms of crowding—it was extremely busy! This trip taught us how crucial it is to carefully select Hotels based on their rank or quality level beforehand. That said—the staff members working here mostly left positive impressions overall hence why we rated them 3 stars despite everything else mentioned above!

    The breakfast was excellent. Unfortunately, the bath was disappointing. While bath towels were available in the bathroom, only one towel per Room had to be reused multiple times, which was cold and inconvenient.

    I had a relaxing time.

    I visited for my wife's birthday. Thank you for the commemorative gift. The room was clean, and there were plenty of staff who paid attention to every detail. The food was slightly different from the image photos but very delicious. The Onsen was excellent, and I ended up going three times and taking long baths. However, it was disappointing that despite being an Onsen Ryokan, the room only had one bath towel and one face towel each, and in the large public bath area, there were only bath towels available. Guests have to bring their face towels from their rooms. At night or in the morning when washing your face in your room, the towel is already wet. Considering this is part of the renowned Hotel New Awaji Group known for its Onsens, I wish they would provide unlimited towels in the large public baths. I've stayed at other hotels within this group multiple times before—was it always like this? When traveling, I'd like to indulge a little with fresh towels. I will visit again!

    Good.

    The bath was wonderful. The fully open window offered a stunning view of lush greenery, like a luxurious painting. The bath was designed like a reclining chair, allowing you to lie back and relax. The wooden chairs in the washing area were slightly slippery, which was a minor concern. Being right in front of Ohama Beach, the facilities were well thought out with changing rooms, air pumps for inflating floats, and showers to rinse off sandy feet—every detail was carefully considered and impressive. Dinner featured fresh meat and sashimi. However, the pickled burdock root at the end made me wonder if it had gone bad—but aside from that, all dishes were of high quality. Even when leaving by car, we were sent off with the warmest smiles, which left a lasting impression.

    A staff member entered the room without knocking while I was changing.

    Until just before check-out, the satisfaction level with the room, meals, and onsen was high, leaving a positive impression of the accommodation. However, while two women were changing clothes in the room, a male staff member entered without knocking after unlocking the door. This caused not only great surprise but also led to screams. When asked why he entered or for his name, he left the room silently without providing any explanation. Entering a guest's room without prior notice or permission (this incident occurred past 10 AM before an 11 AM check-out) is unacceptable behavior for an accommodation facility. A formal complaint was made during check-out in hopes that this will lead to improvements at this accommodation.

    I usually stay at New Awaji, but this time I chose this accommodation due to its good reviews. The car guidance was handled by a young man, and despite the heat, his warm welcome made the process very smooth. This time, I stayed in the annex building. While the building felt a bit old, the front desk guidance and staff throughout the facility provided polite service that left a positive impression! However, at the breakfast venue, when I asked Ms. K to add miso soup while she was cleaning up broken plates nearby, she responded with "It's self-service." Her attitude during rice serving also seemed unpleasant and left me puzzled in the morning. Considering how other staff members provided excellent service, her response of "self-service" was quite surprising. Since I couldn't pass through due to staff cleaning up broken plates right in front of me, I simply made a request for assistance. Additionally, while guests were pouring their drinks themselves at breakfast, staff added more beverages mid-pour without notice. The manners of some restaurant staff on the second floor were questionable—serving dinner without starting from upper seats or interfering with menu selections. I would prefer not to use that venue again in future stays. On another note of gratitude: The two performers during the evening jazz session deserve special thanks! They kindly played one last song for my father who unknowingly ordered drinks near closing time—we are deeply appreciative of their gesture. There were also other wonderful individuals such as those providing valet service and an elegant lady assisting during evening events—thank you all!

    The elevator in the annex was hot. Since the beach is right in front, it seems perfect for those who want to enjoy swimming. Next time, I would like to stay here when going for a swim.

    I absolutely love the bath here and this is my fourth stay, always leaving completely satisfied. However, I noticed that the breakfast buffet used to include a set served in tiered boxes on the table. Has it changed? Still, it was delicious!

    Stay for a Ladies' Gathering

    The room was right in front of the ocean with a great view. For dinner, we were guided to a private Japanese-style room with a lovely atmosphere and enjoyed a kaiseki meal featuring pike conger. The portions were so generous that I had to decline the final rice dish. Everything was delicious, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Additionally, there were two large communal baths, allowing us to enjoy different views at night and the next morning. The black soybean tea provided was delightful. We chose a Japanese-style room, which was spacious and comfortable. The pillows had adjustable heights, ensuring a good night's sleep. It was such a wonderful accommodation that I would recommend it to my relatives!

    Stayed at the accommodation after several years. Made an unreasonable request during dinner, but it was kindly accommodated. The temperature of the water in the main building's large public bath with an open-air bath was a bit low, but overall it was generally good.

    It was enjoyable.

    During our previous stay with friends, we were very satisfied, so this time we stayed as a family. Compared to last time, the service felt slightly more formal, perhaps due to the busy season or the hot weather. However, the children thoroughly enjoyed the pool and kids' space.

    It was excellent.

    This Hotel, which my late mother loved dearly, holds many cherished memories of the three of us staying together with my sister. My mother always requested her favorite Room, and this time, for our long-awaited trip to Awaji Island as three sisters—accompanied by my elder sister who now requires a cane—we were kindly provided with the Room that our mother adored. The handmade platform created to address the step in the bathroom was modified each time we visited, and seeing it brought tears of joy to my mother's eyes. In a newly renovated barrier-free Room, we reminisced about those moments as sisters—crying and laughing together—and spent such precious time. To everyone at the front desk, restaurant staff, and those working in the bath area: thank you so much for your warm smiles and hospitality. We plan to visit again in February as three sisters once more. Please take care during the upcoming hot season. Thank you truly from the bottom of our hearts!

    We have been visiting as a couple for years, but for the past three years, we have been using this place to celebrate my elderly mother's birthday. My mother remembers the room layout and can go to the restroom on her own, which gives us peace of mind. We are satisfied with both the meals and the bath. However, we would like to request a change of chairs in the Room as they are slippery and difficult to sit on. Hoping we can bring her again next year!

    The large forest bath is wonderful.

    Located near the center of Sumoto, the Hotel offers a prime location with the sea in front and an entrance to the path leading to Sumoto Castle via a mountain trail beside it. Shuttle Service is available from the nearest highway bus stop. The forest-themed large public bath provides a unique experience, blending seaside views with a forest-like atmosphere that feels almost surreal. Dinner featured an excellent selection of desserts with great taste and presentation—I plan to save more room for desserts next time! Breakfast was also delicious, offering dishes that can satisfy guests of all ages. Everything was truly enjoyable. The only minor disappointments were that the dipping sauce for dinner's hot pot was limited to sesame and that I wished the rooftop terrace opened at 4 AM so I could watch the sunrise. Overall, it was an almost perfect stay—thank you very much!

    As a favorite accomm...

    As a favorite accommodation in the Kansai area, I have stayed here multiple times. This time, I visited to relax and unwind from daily fatigue. My favorites are the onsen, the view from the room, and the breakfast. For this visit, I tried dinner for the first time; however, the dinner venue was dimly lit. When we finally got seated after calling for assistance ourselves, we were told rather curtly to "choose your drinks," which felt unpleasant. The room itself is comfortable but was extremely noisy between midnight and 2 AM that night. The sound of doors slamming and what seemed like cleaning noises made it impossible to sleep—what could that have been? I almost called reception about it. Additionally, there was an unpleasant sewage smell coming from the toilet in the room; please address this issue. Despite these inconveniences... The breakfast venue always lifts my spirits! Everything served is delicious and features plenty of local ingredients. Moreover, all staff at breakfast are truly professional and pleasant hotel personnel. The onsen and breakfast remain excellent!

    On weekends

    We stayed in the family-friendly floor of the accommodation. The facility has been renovated, and both the onsen and meals satisfied both children and adults. It was also great that the dinner for elementary school children was not a typical kids' menu. The friendly staff who interacted with us left a very positive impression. Thank you very much!

    Always enjoy a comfortable stay.

    It would be great if there were dedicated parking spaces for the Nagomi Floor, even for an additional fee, as it would enhance convenience. During my recent stays, I was always directed to a slightly distant and narrow parking lot, which felt a bit inconvenient. The staff in charge of parking this time seemed slightly less experienced compared to the excellent service I received before (as there was no assistance with luggage or send-off). Other than that, I truly enjoyed my stay. The jasmine fragrance in the large public bath this time was very soothing. This is one of the valuable accommodations where I can confidently bring my parents' generation for a comfortable stay. I'll definitely visit again!

    Convenient location for those who enjoy exploring the city.

    This Ryokan was later added to the Hotel New Awaji group. It features stylish baths, a signature of the group (the water is colorless, transparent, and odorless), and offers consistent quality service. The restaurant operates on a reservation basis; we only reserved dinner, but the delicious dishes made with fresh ingredients from Awaji Island are highly recommended. With its excellent location, you can enjoy both the beach and a retro downtown area on foot, making it ideal for those who want to focus on exploring the town. It’s unfortunate that some guests with poor manners stood out during weekdays, possibly due to its affordable pricing during that time.

    The meals are excellent!

    The location from the hotel room was amazing, and the hospitality was excellent. Both dinner and breakfast were abundant with fresh seafood and mountain delicacies. We stayed for a 60th birthday celebration, and during dinner, they prepared a red vest and hat for the occasion, which deeply moved us with their thoughtful gesture. Coincidentally, fireworks lit up the sky, allowing us to enjoy a truly happy moment. Thank you very much. However, we stayed in an annex building where only socks were allowed indoors; considering emergencies or evacuations during unforeseen events, this seemed potentially dangerous.

    Great value for money

    We stayed for a 2-night, 3-day girls' trip. The facility was very clean and well-maintained, making it a pleasant stay. There were few staff at the front desk during check-in, so we had to wait a bit, which was slightly inconvenient. For dinner, we went to a local izakaya. The baths had just been renovated and were very clean and bright. The large windows in the indoor bath were fully open, creating an open-air atmosphere that was wonderful. There was also an outdoor bath, but it felt quite small—so much so that it might be fine without one altogether. The next morning's bath was in a separate building. It was slightly hard to find the way there, and I worried if I was heading in the right direction at first. However, from there you could see pine trees and the sea—a different view from the main building's bath—and it too was beautiful and enjoyable. Breakfast was buffet-style with many local dishes that seemed freshly prepared rather than frozen food—it exceeded expectations! The Awaji Island onion chowder was delicious! The Awaji beef stew looked rich but wasn’t overly heavy—perfect even for breakfast—and the simmered sea bream dish (Tai no Ara-ni) stood out as well! With such an excellent breakfast experience here, I’m looking forward to trying their dinner next time!

    What a disappointment for such a nice Room.

    We stayed in a Japanese-Western style Room. The room was spacious with a great view, and my mother-in-law was very pleased. However, the sliding doors between the Japanese and Western areas were removed, so when my mother-in-law, who slept in the Western area, went to the restroom at night, I woke up each time. This happened every 1-2 hours and was quite tough. Although it is a Room designed for multiple people to sleep in both areas, there were no curtains or other light-blocking options besides shoji screens in the Japanese area. It became bright early in the morning, making it hard to sleep comfortably. I also felt slightly cold but thought it might be due to seasonal factors until I realized that one of the windows wasn’t properly locked and let drafts through. I only noticed this after waking up in the morning—it was unexpected!

    The cleaning was not thorough.

    Stayed with three generations, including children and mother. The room had dust clumps in various places (closet, in front of the refrigerator, etc.), and it did not feel thoroughly cleaned. Dust was also on the fabric part of the chair, making it unappealing to sit on. For dinner, we chose a main dish plus buffet option; however, the table seating area was dimly lit and lacked space, so it didn’t feel like dining at a proper restaurant. We had high expectations due to good reviews but hope for improvements in room cleanliness.

    Thank you for the meal!

    We enjoyed both the meals and the Onsen. The dinner was especially delightful, featuring a buffet and à la carte menu with delicious Italian dishes made from local ingredients. There were appetizers and sashimi using octopus and fish, as well as red miso soup. The beautifully plated desserts prepared on the spot were stunning and absolutely delicious.     The room is passable, but the Onsen, meals, and breakfast are unsatisfactory.

    The Onsen on the 6th floor offers two types of baths. One features a variety of baths, including an open-air bath, while the other is a smaller facility with just a large bath and sauna. Unfortunately, I was assigned to the latter, which lowered my satisfaction. Dinner was labeled as a buffet but had limited options and felt more like self-service cafeteria food. Most dishes were served cold. There were two additional items available for order, but despite being called main dishes, they were small in portion and quality—more like side dishes. Ordering required scanning a QR code with your smartphone, similar to budget izakayas; no staff came to take orders directly. The dining area was simply part of the lobby repurposed as a restaurant space and lacked any relaxing atmosphere. The next morning at breakfast, there was a waitlist system where I had to wait outside the venue for at least 10 minutes before being seated—a surprising experience for what claims to be a luxury Hotel or Ryokan. Inside was extremely crowded, and once again most food items were cold. Having chosen an expensive Plan with special room accommodations at this high-end Ryokan only to have an experience reminiscent of school trips or package tours was something I never expected—but unfortunately became my reality here.

    We stayed at the accommodation for a trip to celebrate my parent's 77th birthday. Thank you for the heartfelt service during dinner. We were also very pleased with the thoughtful gift. Additionally, being able to stay in one room as a large group allowed us to enjoy lively family time together. The fact that we didn’t need to use slippers made our stay even more comfortable.
