    It was a wonderful Hotel.

    As it’s a slightly upscale Ryokan, they carried our luggage to the Room. The Hotel is right in front of the beach, and there seemed to be an entrance/exit for coming back after playing in the sea, where you can shower before going inside. The kaiseki cuisine was delicious, but when I asked what sake it was, they said they didn’t know. Disappointing. When my husband went to the large public bath, someone had collapsed. He called the front desk, but the staff member who came couldn’t handle it at all—trying to leave the person alone, and despite vomiting and incontinence, they didn’t stop other guests from entering the bath area and almost had them walk through the mess. I’m concerned about infection control, concerned that only one person was sent from reception, and I still can’t stop thinking about why an ambulance wasn’t called even though the person lost consciousness—it makes me worry it could have been a stroke. Breakfast was a light “morning set” style Plan at a cafe-like spot right next to the lobby, but since it was midsummer it was disappointing that only hot coffee was available. The cafe area was run by one person who wasn’t very friendly. The Room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. The large public bath also felt clean and nice. It was an anniversary trip and we stretched our budget to stay somewhere nicer than usual, but there were quite a few moments that left us feeling disappointed.

    The food is excellent.

    We enjoyed both breakfast and dinner, and everything was delicious. One small disappointment was that we were given a map at check-in showing how to get to the separate bath, but the route was hard to follow and it felt a bit too far away.

    Celebrating my wife's birthday.

    We stayed here for my wife’s birthday. The service, meals, and Onsen were all excellent, and she was very satisfied. The view from the Room was great, but we were a little concerned that our Room could be seen from the balcony diagonally across. Overall, we felt it was a great-value Accommodation. We would like to stay again.

    It was very good.

    I always stay at this Hotel. This time, I stayed with my older sister’s family and my younger sister to celebrate my retirement. Thank you, as always, for your very kind service. The meals were also delicious.

    The bath is amazing.

    This is my third stay. I always choose a Western-style room with a bed, and it’s clean and comfortable. If possible, I’d like at least mineral water to be provided. The main building Onsen is spacious, and since I usually go late at night it’s not crowded—wonderful! This may sound old-fashioned, but this time there was someone covered in tattoos and it really surprised me. There’s no point writing that in a Hotel Review, but… I do want people to follow the rules. I tried the breakfast buffet for the first time, and it had a great variety and was delicious. I was especially happy with the wide selection of soups. You can enjoy both Japanese and Western dishes. I wanted to have rice with raw egg, but they said they don’t offer raw eggs. Since this Hotel is often used by families with children, mornings are quite noisy.

    Excellent

    The service, meals, and baths were all outstanding!! We had a truly wonderful time—thank you so much. If I had to mention one thing, since it’s surrounded by nature there were quite a few insects (haha). Of course, there weren’t any inside the building or in the Room!

    I had set my expectations too high...

    It was disappointing compared to what I expected. I understood that the Room being old couldn’t be helped. However, since I arrived at the Hotel an hour before check-in, I had a cake set at the Hotel tea lounge, but I had to wait over 30 minutes after ordering. For dinner, I was looking forward to the Awaji beef and onion stew, but there was very little meat—it felt like I was just eating stewed onions. For breakfast, I was looking forward to shirasu as well, but when I asked, I was told they did not have any shirasu today. I also asked to pay at night because checkout would likely be rushed, but the staff member reacted with a very unpleasant expression and attitude. I will never go again.

    Thoughtful attention to detail

    From the moment we arrived, everything was courteous and easy to understand, including guidance to the parking lot. Our elementary-school daughter seemed chilled from the rain and had a runny nose, and during dinner a male staff member brought tissues and also offered a lap blanket and warm tea—such thoughtful care. The food was delicious, and even our kids who don’t usually like seafood said it was great and ate well. The Awaji beef, cherry salmon, desserts, and breakfast were all varied and very satisfying. The Onsen baths in both the main building and annex were clean, with staff frequently cleaning them, and we appreciated that the post-bath kuromame tea was caffeine-free. In the main building’s indoor bath there was a chair-shaped area like a reclining bath where we could soak very comfortably. The geta provided for moving to the annex became very slippery when worn with socks, which felt a bit scary. The sweets provided in our Room were so tasty that we bought them as souvenirs. We were extremely satisfied and would love to visit again. Everyone on staff was kind, which made our trip even more enjoyable.

    The meal was delicious.

    The food at this Hotel is absolutely delicious. You can really feel the care and thoughtfulness in the menu, aimed at making guests happy. It was wonderful. The staff member who explained the room seemed to still be learning Japanese. I felt it would have been better if they spoke a little more slowly. Thanks to this trip, we were able to spend an amazing time. Thank you for taking such good care of us.

    A Relaxing Trip for Two

    This was my first stay at this Hotel. Within the same group, I have stayed at Shimahana and Yumesenkei, and for my third visit to Awaji Island I chose Yume Kaiyu. From the guidance upon arriving by car, I felt reassured—like coming to a classic, traditional Hotel. The new staff member who showed us to our Room worked very hard, and with help from a kind young senior staff member, guided us smoothly. Dinner was served in a private dining room at a relaxed pace with well-timed service, and breakfast was just right: a small Japanese-focused buffet with a handmade feel. The morning coffee was delicious. However, the coffee while waiting for Room guidance in the lounge—and the coffee in the Nagomi Lounge—was hard to describe; as a coffee lover, it tasted quite strange. The café latte in the Nagomi Lounge was also disappointing because there seemed to be an issue with the milk dispenser machine and only one cup of milk came out; without milk, it was difficult to drink. The Room had been renovated and was clean. The baths were not crowded, and the changing area was cleaned frequently so I could use it comfortably. It’s a Hotel that makes me want to stay again. Thank you very much to all of the staff.

    Awaji Seven Lucky Gods Pilgrimage and an Onsen Getaway

    It was our first trip as a couple in a long time. We couldn’t visit all the Seven Lucky Gods because it overlapped with the eve of the Danjiri Festival, but the Onsen after a pleasantly tiring day was truly wonderful. The meals were delicious; we’re sorry we got too full and left a little. The dessert was also great, and we were very satisfied with breakfast. Thank you very much.

    This was a repeat stay. Once again, we had a very comfortable stay. The weather was great this time, so the views from the Room and the bath were exceptional.     It was very good.

    This was our second stay at Hotel New Awaji. Last time we stayed in the main building, but it was too large and difficult to walk around with my elderly mother, so this time we chose Yumekaiyu. The Room was clean, and the view from the window—ocean and pine grove—was wonderful. Dinner was delicious, and the staff who served us were very kind and attentive. We also had a massage and aroma massage at Moana Relaxation Salon; the therapist was highly skilled and thorough, and we were very satisfied. We plan to visit Awaji Island again, so this is a Hotel we would like to use again. Thank you very much.

    Thank you very much for your hospitality. We were satisfied with the Room and the bath, but we would have appreciated kinder and more attentive service. We also wished there had been a greater variety of dishes, and that more thought had been given to the layout.

    Everything was excellent.

    I booked on a whim for a change of pace. The Room I reserved was a Japanese-Western style room on the Nagomi Floor, with a one-night stay including dinner and breakfast Plan. The deciding factors in choosing this Accommodation were: Whether I could enjoy dinner as a course rather than buffet-style Cleanliness of the Room Cleanliness of the Onsen Availability of a spa Location Everything was perfect, and I had an extremely satisfying stay. The staff’s warm, friendly hospitality also left a lasting impression. At the start of the course meal, I briefly wondered if the portions might be small, but by the time the main dish arrived I felt very full—so much so that I regret not being able to finish the dessert buffet because I was too stuffed. Both dinner and breakfast featured plenty of ingredients from Awaji Island. It was also a great opportunity to learn things I didn’t know before, and everything was delicious and very satisfying. There were two Onsen baths (in both the main building and annex), but unfortunately I only had time to visit one, and I didn’t have time to stop by the spa. Still, the Onsen in the main building alone was more than enough for me. It also stood out that there were no inbound international guests, which felt unusual compared with my recent trips. The sinks and changing area at the Onsen were kept very clean as well, making it comfortable to use. With its location right in front of Ohama Beach, the views were wonderful. Despite facing a road, it was quiet, and I truly got to relax. I would definitely like to come again. Thank you very much for taking such good care of me.

    It became a wonderful memory.

    Upon arrival at the accommodation, staff promptly came out to assist and carried our luggage. There were also hotel staff near the front desk, which was very helpful whenever we had questions. Their consistently kind and attentive service was truly impressive. The meals exceeded our expectations in taste and were thoroughly enjoyable. We especially loved the forest spa bath. The beach right in front of the hotel offered a stunning view as well. Thank you for providing us with such wonderful memories!

    It was excellent!

    We stayed as a family of four, including two elementary school children. The staff were all incredibly hospitable, which left a lasting impression on us. Both dinner and breakfast were absolutely delicious. The bath and changing area were kept impeccably clean, allowing us to relax and enjoy our time comfortably. It was an accommodation we would love to stay at again.

    I made a Reservation...

    I made a Reservation for the buffet and requested dinner from 7 PM. However, by the time I reached the desserts about an hour later, most of them were gone. Even though staff members were nearby, there was no sign of replenishment. The staff were all very kind and excellent, but I was disappointed with the patisserie team.

    I want to come again.

    The food was delicious and surprising. It was fun to choose from the options. The peperoncino was tasty, and the sweetness of the onions made it exceptional. The dessert was also delightful, leaving me fully satisfied. The bath area had warm washing spaces, but the bathtub area had an open window, making it cold. Because of that, I ended up taking a long bath. Other than that, including the staff's excellent service, this is a Hotel I would love to visit again. Wonderful!

    We stayed in a Twin ...

    We stayed in a Twin Plus 7.5 tatami mat Room for five people. The room was spacious and satisfactory in size. Although the slight oldness of the accommodation caught our attention, the delicious meals made up for it. The staff's hospitality was excellent, and we had a fulfilling one-night, two-day stay. Thank you very much!

    Autumn Pike Conger Kaiseki, simply the best!

    This is a senior trip. I decided on Yumekaiyu Awajishima after searching for accommodations that met my conditions: wanting to visit Awaji Island, try local ingredients (especially autumn pike conger), take a walk along the seaside, and enjoy an Onsen. I also found out that there are highway bus services from Kobe that stop directly at Yumekaiyu, which was another deciding factor. Upon arrival, I was thrilled to see the sea right in front of me. My Room seemed to have been upgraded—it was a corner room with a large terrace facing the sea on one side and mountains on the other. It was spacious, clean, and very satisfying. I immediately enjoyed a walk along the beach before heading to dinner as planned. The meal exceeded all expectations! The autumn pike conger hot pot with Awaji Island onions and matsutake mushrooms was absolutely fantastic—worth visiting just for this dish alone! The grilled Awaji beef with autumn vegetables on a ceramic plate was also incredibly delicious, as were the original desserts. Having dinner in a private room allowed us to enjoy our meal quietly and comfortably—a truly wonderful experience. As for the baths, both locations were stylish and clean; however, in terms of Onsen quality itself, it wasn’t particularly remarkable—I did notice some chlorine smell. Regarding other guests: late at night until quite late into midnight hours there were children running around noisily next door (or possibly upstairs?), making it hard to sleep due noise disturbances echoing through walls/floors . At breakfast venue too morning saw several young families being loud lively while babies crying loudly added further distractions . Overall impression suggests perhaps more family-oriented accommodation rather than ideal choice seniors seeking peaceful relaxing stay enjoying quiet seaside strolls paired gourmet dining experiences might find slightly less tranquil atmosphere here compared expectations . Staff members however exceptionally kind attentive waving goodbye warmly even after buses departed leaving lasting positive impression heartfelt gratitude towards them

    I had a very comfortable stay.

    We stayed for one night in an annex Japanese-Western style Room for three adults. My wife and her mother slept on the beds in the bedroom, while I used a futon in the Japanese-style room. Each Room had a TV, and air conditioning could be adjusted individually, making our stay very comfortable. The dinner at "Hamabo" was exceptionally delicious. Both the breakfast buffet and the variety of desserts at dinner were so abundant that we couldn't finish everything, leaving us very satisfied. We were impressed by the staff's courteousness and kindness. Unfortunately, we didn't use the "open-air bath" as it seemed crowded; however, the "large public bath" had an open-air-like design that was more than sufficient for us. The only inconvenience was having to change shoes (or slippers) when moving between the main building and annex. This process felt slightly complicated, especially since my elderly mother-in-law couldn't move between buildings alone and needed assistance. Thank you to all staff members for your hospitality! We look forward to staying again in the future!

Overall, great value for the price. **Highlights:** - Excellent staff service. - Clean and well-maintained facilities. - Delicious meals, especially the Awaji beef roast. - Two distinct large baths in the main building and annex with different atmospheres. - Complimentary black soybean tea after bathing. - Great room view overlooking the coastline. - Quiet environment as shoes are removed at the annex entrance, allowing barefoot walking inside without hallway noise. - Three TVs in the room (likely for larger groups but seems excessive). - Shuttle service available to Onsen at a sister hotel (though not used). **Minor Disappointments:** - The elevator in the annex lacks air conditioning and feels hot. - Accessing large baths from the annex is inconvenient: you need to go down to 1F, wear indoor slippers, pass through the front lobby of the main building, then take another elevator upstairs; or for outdoor baths in a separate wing, you must step outside via an uncovered pathway to reach them. - Although Onsen information is displayed, it feels less authentic due to water circulation systems, chlorine disinfection, heating processes, and slight chlorine smell. - The mini-fridge contains various drinks but none are local products; all are chargeable (a complimentary bottle of water would be more appreciated). - Breakfast buffet gets very crowded; it's better to arrive right when it opens or avoid peak times for a smoother experience.

    A bit disappointing

    Front staff, please provide more detailed explanations and smoother, more courteous service during both check-in and check-out. The accommodation has many steps overall, and the step in the bathroom inside the room was particularly dangerous. It would have been helpful to be informed about this during the room orientation. Staying in the main building made it inconvenient to access the bath in the East Wing, so I only used it once. The half-buffet dinner was disappointing as some dishes seemed to use frozen food. Additionally, fried items and curry were lukewarm, which was disheartening (I intentionally use this expression). The refrigerator was fully stocked with beverages; however, offering complimentary water might be a good idea. Breakfast started at 6:45 AM but became crowded immediately upon opening. Perhaps dividing guests into time slots could help manage this better. This is my first time giving such a low rating for an IKYU Hotel despite staying for just one night—apologies for being critical—but while I found the interior design and decor lovely and appreciated the variety of breakfast options, there are several areas that need improvement to make this accommodation truly exceptional. It feels like such a missed opportunity given its potential—a very frustrating experience overall.

    Nostalgic in many ways.

    The building is old but renovated and clean. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious. Drinks in the refrigerator are charged, and there is no vending machine. The front faces the beach, offering a beautiful sunset view. There is nothing within walking distance, but it's perfect for enjoying the Hotel itself.

    During Obon

    We stayed at the accommodation during the Obon holiday with our family. We chose this place for a beach trip, and we were pleasantly surprised by how impressive the hotel was despite its convenient location right in front of the sea! The room allowed smoking, but there was no smell at all. The room was spacious, offered a great view of the ocean, and had a very clean washbasin. The meals were served as course dishes; however, since I am not used to such dining style, I felt slightly uneasy and wished we could eat more leisurely at our own pace. That said, the food itself was excellent. Breakfast was buffet-style with a great variety of options that made us eat more than we intended! We used a private bath where you could hear the sound of waves due to its proximity to the sea—perfect for relaxing after swimming in the ocean. My family also enjoyed using the large public bath and said it was wonderful. The staff members were incredibly kind and helpful, making this trip one that makes us want to return next year if possible!
