The Room’s private hot spring bath with free-flowing water is excellent.

The in-Room free-flowing hot spring bath was very spacious, and we really enjoyed it. At 42°C, it was a bit hot for summer. The large public bath was also spacious, and it was great to have a mist sauna as well. The meal portions were just right, and it was nice to have the tempura fried right in front of us. Each dish was also carefully explained one by one.

The hot spring water quality and volume are the best we’ve ever experienced.

I love the thick, skin-beautifying waters of Isawa Onsen and have been impressed by other Ryokan as well, but based on ChatGPT’s recommendation that this property has the best water quality and volume in Isawa, I chose to stay here. Many places advertise their Onsen as “like a beauty serum,” but this one truly is—my skin felt smooth and moisturized from the moment I got in. Even the hot water at the washing area and the cold bath before the sauna felt silky, leaving not only my skin but also my hair soft and hydrated. - Children can use it with no age restrictions - The open-air baths are thoughtfully designed with a great variety (including waterfall-style jets), so you can enjoy both hotter and milder temperatures - The breeze in the open-air bath feels wonderful It’s easy to see why there are so many positive Reviews and repeat guests. The taiko drum show, Obon magic show, and service all showed heartfelt hospitality throughout, but there were three points I strongly wished would be improved: - Only one bath towel and one small towel are provided, so they never have time to dry - The dinner venue meal (hoto hot pot course) was disappointing for both adults and children (the hoto wasn’t cooked through properly; the sashimi looked discolored; serving rice with cellophane still attached was off-putting) - The signature baths cannot be used from 12:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. These three issues stood out enough to remain in my memory. The breakfast buffet was excellent. Even though it was Obon season, we booked an inexpensive Plan so I shouldn’t complain—but I’d gladly pay about the same price if you offered a dinner-free Plan. On our way home we stopped at several nearby roadside stations and JA shops, but the Kawanakajima peaches sold at this Hotel were by far the rarest and best quality—absolutely worth buying.

    It was very relaxing.

Since I made the Reservation at the last minute and the price was fairly reasonable, I honestly didn’t expect much, but it turned out to be a very satisfying stay. The in-Room Onsen was wonderful, and I ended up soaking in it four times. The taiko show was incredibly powerful, and my elementary school child was thrilled. It also seems to be wheelchair-accessible, so I’d like to use it next time for a family gathering with relatives.

The taiko drumming event was great.

Overall, the property was very clean, and I was able to stay comfortably without any inconvenience or discomfort. The taiko drum event was also excellent. At check-in, the staff member who carried my luggage to the Room was polite, but there was no explanation of the facilities and it felt very businesslike. At dinner, the serving staff rushed me when choosing drinks, and when my smartphone was on the table it was moved without permission. Even if it was for serving purposes, I think a brief word would have been appropriate since we are guests. I was surprised and did not feel any hospitality. The bath area was spacious and pleasant, and the Onsen was great. However, the mist sauna wasn’t hot at all and didn’t feel like a sauna, and I also noticed an odor. The cold plunge for the dry sauna wasn’t cold and smelled unpleasant as well. I also found it concerning that some showers only produced hot water even when set to cold.

    The Onsen is simply wonderful.

I recently stayed with my daughter in a Room with an open-air bath. The property feels old overall, with a Showa-era atmosphere, but it is very well cleaned and feels spotless. The Onsen was simply wonderful and left my skin silky smooth. I’ve stayed at other Hotels and Ryokans in Isawa Onsen before, but this had the best water quality. No wonder it’s known as a beauty bath. I was also impressed by the size of the open-air bath in the Room! I’d love to stay again next time.

The Best Onsen and Exceptional Service

It’s rare these days to find a Hotel staffed entirely by Japanese employees, and the service was excellent—it reminded me of the good old Showa-era Hotels. The staff’s taiko drum show was truly moving, with an outstanding performance that rivaled professionals. The Onsen water quality was also wonderful; my skin felt soft and smooth. I could really see why this Accommodation is so loved by everyone. I’d love to visit again soon! I want to say it again and again: the taiko show was the best!

Barrier-free accommodation for a safe and comfortable stay

I brought my elderly father, who loves Onsen but has difficulty walking. When I mentioned this at the time of Reservation, they prepared a Room right next to the elevator. I also requested a barrier-free Room, and it was spacious with handrails throughout. Even the tatami area was set up so he could relax comfortably in a chair, which made him very happy. The bath in our Room had 100% natural Onsen water flowing continuously 24 hours a day—it felt almost too luxurious. There was a step at the entrance to the tub, and the inside of the bath was slightly raised as well. A sturdy shower chair was provided, so I felt safe letting him bathe. Of course, he also enjoyed the large public bath with my husband. For dinner, a chef came to our Room and served freshly fried tempura and freshly grilled steak. Everything was truly delicious. The kamameshi rice was excellent too, and the portions were just right—we were completely satisfied. All of the staff were very kind. At check-in they helped us choose yukata together, and even though my father used a wheelchair that we borrowed there, one of the senior managers spoke warmly to him—he was deeply touched. This is a Hotel he visited many times with my late mother, and he spent two full days here looking genuinely happy. It meant so much to be able to do something special for him. Thank you very much.

    The best.

Thank you for taking care of us for three days. I have stayed here many times, and it is the best Accommodation for me. The meals are delicious, and the bath in the Room is wonderful. Three days isn’t enough (laughs). All of the staff are very kind, making this a truly relaxing Accommodation. Thank you very much for all your help with my Reservation. Thank you again.

    We had a relaxing stay.

This is an Accommodation I have stayed at many times as a repeat guest. The meals were decent this time (the ingredients were noticeably smaller), but I like it because the in-room bath is spacious. Since it’s nearby, I’d like to visit again.

    We were extremely satisfied!

Three women stayed in a Room with an open-air bath. The Room, the bath, and the meals were the best we’ve ever had among all the Ryokan we’ve stayed at. The service was also very attentive. The in-room bath was fed directly from the hot spring source, and the gentle water left our skin feeling moisturized and smooth. We were especially impressed by how well-stocked and thoughtful the amenities were. At dinner, dishes were brought out little by little, and the tempura was fried right in front of us—everything was delicious. Breakfast was a buffet, but it was great to be able to enjoy freshly made omelets from the live kitchen. One of my friends is a heavy smoker and was very happy that there is a smoking room in the Room. Perhaps because of extensions added over time, there were a few steps/level changes that stood out slightly, so I rated only the Facility/amenities as 4.

Completely satisfied again. The room, meals, and service were all excellent.

Once again, our stay exceeded expectations, just as it did last time. This is one of our favorite Accommodations in Isawa Onsen. The room was impeccably cleaned, and we were able to relax in great comfort. We are truly grateful to everyone at the front desk, Shuttle Service, guest services, and dining staff for their warm hospitality and attentive service throughout our stay. The meals were also absolutely delicious. We would love to stay here again on our next visit.

    We stayed this time ...

We stayed this time to celebrate a birthday. This was our third visit. It was a bit disappointing that the sashimi and steak seemed to get smaller each time they were served, but we still ended up full. The whipped cream on the cake we received was especially delicious. We were very satisfied and would like to stay again around my birthday.

We chose a Room with an open-air bath this time, and we were extremely satisfied! In the end, aside from dinner and breakfast, we hardly left the Room at all—we relaxed in the in-room bath and time flew by. Next time I’d like to enjoy the large public bath and the taiko performance too, but I’m not sure I’ll be able to bring myself to leave the Room! The Facility shows its age in the exterior and some of the tatami in certain Rooms, but everything was thoroughly cleaned down to every corner, so we stayed very comfortably. Dinner was more than we could finish; each dish was small with many items. Personally, if there were fewer dishes with higher quality per dish, this would have been an absolutely perfect Accommodation for me. I had been a bit concerned after reading some Reviews about bringing items into the building, but there is a Daily Yamazaki inside—so they had most things like alcohol and tea (basically everything except bento meals), and it was possible to bring them back to our Room. We were also able to use the refrigerator. On the train home, my wife and I talked about coming back again for an anniversary or another special occasion—it became a wonderful memory for us.

    I was able to relax.

It was a cozy Accommodation with the charm of the good old days, though there were some worn areas. Dinner was a good portion, and the breakfast buffet had a wide variety of dishes, so I was very satisfied. (I just wished there had been a bit more fruit and dessert.) The bath was spacious and very nice. I would like to stay here again when traveling nearby. If I could suggest improvements: when using the hair dryer in the changing room, there were too few chairs so I had to stand (my legs aren’t in great shape), and it would have helped if someone had mentioned that it was okay to take the chopsticks from dinner back with me… They were easy-to-use, nice chopsticks, so I took them out once and checked with the front desk staff the next morning.

The building and rooms are old, but they are well maintained, clean, and comfortable. All of the staff were kind and helpful, which made me very happy. The taiko drum show was powerful and truly impressive—very moving. The other guests were also courteous and pleasant, with good manners, so even when sharing the elevator or hallways I could relax without any stress. Thank you very much.

    The welcome and chec...

The welcome and check-in were smooth, which was nice, but… The tatami in the Room was badly worn; depending on where you stepped it made noise, and the futon was thin and uncomfortable. The refrigerator was a paid pull-out type. It seems you may be charged a bring-in fee if they confirm you brought your own drinks. The hot pot meal included a shrimp about 5 cm long, a scallop about 3 cm across, and small pieces of white fish, but it was mostly Chinese cabbage. There was a small portion of sashimi with poor color, sticky rice with leafy greens that had too much water (they apologized), and in total about eight dishes including dessert; there was no miso soup. I understood it was a “Plan for those who are not particular about meals,” but I didn’t expect the portions to be so small. I’m not a big eater, but it wasn’t enough to feel full. A refill of plain rice for adults costs 110 yen. There were no shower caps in the bath area, and the steam sauna temperature was too low to work up a sweat, but the Onsen itself had pleasant water that I could relax in. I stayed here several times before and after COVID-19, but this time there were even more disappointing points than last time, which was unfortunate.

    Affordable and excellent

They carried our luggage to the Room, and their service was very attentive. Breakfast was great with a live-kitchen buffet. In the evening, we had a wonderful time enjoying the staff’s taiko drum performance. This time, we were able to stay at a reasonable price, and it was excellent.

    We had a great time.

We enjoyed everything—the baths, the taiko drumming, and the meals. It was such great value that we wondered if the price was really right. We were able to enjoy different baths at night and in the morning, and the evening taiko performance was wonderful. The breakfast buffet also had a good variety. The staff were all very pleasant as well. We would definitely like to stay again.

    More than enough

In conclusion, this was the best Ryokan/Hotel I’ve ever stayed at among the many places with in-Room Onsen baths. The parking lot is across the road, but staff guide you and carry your luggage from the car to your Room. At checkout, if you call, they come to your Room to pick up your luggage. While many places have shifted to self-service since COVID, here they escort you to your Room and even prepare tea for you. Room I rarely see a place kept this spotless—not only the bath and toilet, but even the balcony. There is a smoking booth in the Room; two sinks; three air purifier/humidifiers; three TVs (two extra-large plus one in the smoking booth); two hair dryers; two bottles of fabric spray; six toothbrushes; and separate amenities for men and women. There are plenty of outlets and no steps. Water, sencha, hojicha, black tea, kombu tea, and coffee are all provided. They also have a magnifying mirror, nail clippers, and even a scale. There are hand dryers in both the toilet area and by the sink (they’re quite loud—personally I’d prefer paper towels). Slippers are provided for inside the building and inside the Room, along with setta sandals and tabi socks. Everything is thoughtfully prepared. Even though it’s an in-Room bath, it was luxuriously fed by free-flowing natural hot spring water (kakenagashi) and was constantly overflowing. Dinner At check-in they asked not only about allergies but also ingredients I dislike—and accommodated my requests. Breakfast An incredible variety—so much that it felt like nothing was missing. What sealed my Reservation was 11:00 checkout time—I avoid places with 10:00 checkout whenever possible. As is common at Japanese Ryokan/Hotels, they suggested dinner at 17:00. Honestly, who eats dinner at 17:00 on a weekday? Most people are still working then. I asked for as late as possible and they moved it to 18:10. After the taiko drum show we went for a drink at the on-site izakaya bar/lounge area, but smoking was allowed there—so next time I’ll just order ramen delivery to my Room instead.

Ideal for guests who love the Showa era in every way.

I was looking forward to my stay because when you think of Isawa, you think of “Keizan,” but it was disappointing. - Dinner was modest (maybe because it was a cheaper Plan), while breakfast was decent (breakfast felt more lavish). - The entire Facility feels dated. - The futon is laid out while you are at dinner (a matter of preference). - The Onsen closes at midnight. - The staff are friendly and pleasant. It might have been better if I had paid more, but if you’re staying in the 20,000-yen range, I think Oedo Onsen Hotel Shinko or the Itoen Group offers far better value for money.

    The Onsen is amazing.

I keep coming back because the hot spring water is excellent. For dinner, you can choose the main dish, so I pick based on how I feel that day. Everything else—freshly fried tempura and appetizers—is consistently delicious with hardly any misses. The breakfast buffet, however, is always the same, so as a repeat guest it feels a bit lacking; I wish the selection would change at least slightly every few months. This time, several staff members said “Thank you for always staying with us,” which made me very happy. Overall I’m satisfied and will visit again.

    Highly satisfied

I stayed for one night on a weekday. The guidance to the Room and the meal service were both very courteous. I stayed in a 6th-floor Room with a great view. It was a Japanese-style Room, and it was very clean. The Onsen was very spacious, and the outdoor baths had different temperatures depending on the area, so I enjoyed finding the temperature I liked. There were only a few people using it, so it was very comfortable. Dinner was delicious. I informed them in advance about my crab allergy, and they kindly substituted other ingredients. Breakfast had an amazing variety, and I had a hard time deciding what to eat. The chicken offal dish was also excellent. The freshly baked bread, white rice porridge, and desserts were all delicious as well. I was completely satisfied!

It was our first time staying, and choosing a room with an open-air bath was the perfect decision. The Onsen, with its natural free-flowing hot spring water, offered an amazing view from the bath. The quality of the spring water was the best we've ever experienced. Although we didn't have high expectations for the standard meals, every dish was carefully prepared and delicious. Breakfast was also excellent. We definitely want to visit again!

    Room with Onsen Bath

I had a wonderful and peaceful time. All the staff, including the trainee who assisted us, were lovely with their warm smiles. The Room's private bath with natural hot spring water was amazing; we enjoyed the night view at night and the bright sunlight in the morning to our heart's content. The food was delicious, and we were completely satisfied. When asked, "Shall we make rice balls with your leftover rice?" I felt the warmth of your hospitality. Thank you very much. I would love to stay again!

The staff provided excellent service from the moment we used the parking lot to check-out, making our stay very comfortable. We had made requests in advance for our large group, and all were accommodated. We truly appreciate their thoughtful considerations. The baths alternated between men and women in the morning and evening, allowing us to enjoy various types of baths. The abundant hot water made for a relaxing experience. Meals were served in a dining hall and were just the right amount for us (though it might be less for those with bigger appetites). Each dish was delicious, leaving us satisfied. Breakfast was busy with many guests, but thoughtful arrangements like numbered tickets at the live kitchen allowed us to enjoy a relaxed meal. The takeaway drinks & ice cream were also a delightful touch! Next time, we’d love to try Triangle House Ramen! The room was clean and well-maintained, ensuring a comfortable stay. The taiko drum show was also impressive and enjoyable. We definitely look forward to staying here again!

    Thank you for your patronage.

The open-air bath in the room was spacious and relaxing, with perfectly warm water and excellent quality. Time flew by as we enjoyed the Onsen and had a massage. For dinner, we requested teppanyaki, but unfortunately, we couldn't meet our usual chef this time. The dessert was delicious. For breakfast, some menu changes were made upon request, and we enjoyed it all to the last bite. My husband requested futons instead of beds, which were kindly prepared for us, allowing him to sleep soundly. Thank you very much. Everyone greeted us warmly in the hallways, making our stay enjoyable. We would love to visit again someday! Thank you so much!
