    The view is excellent.

The Kanmon Straits could be seen both from the front desk floor and from the room, which was wonderful. The night view was especially beautiful. Unfortunately, the room was quite small, but considering the price, it may be unavoidable. The rooftop bath is outdoor-only and small, so it may get crowded, and it might be a bit tough in winter. I only used the breakfast option, but I think both the quality and quantity were sufficient for women. I also enjoyed the complimentary soft drinks on the front desk floor at night while taking in the night view. I called because I would be arriving late, but it was mostly automated responses; when I finally got through to a staff line, no one answered (I later heard they were too busy), which made me uneasy. I understand efforts to reduce staffing, but some guidance inside the hotel (such as where to find the bath) felt insufficient, which came across as somewhat unhelpful. Since it has just opened, everything inside was very clean.

We were very satisfied with both the room and the breakfast. The other hospitality offerings—such as the foot bath, ice cream, and free drinks—were also excellent. We would like to stay again. Next time, we’d like to enjoy breakfast at a more relaxed pace.

Enjoy a quiet moment with a Mojiko Port view.

Even before this Hotel was built, I had already decided that my next stay would be at BEB5 Mojiko. I was able to spend two very relaxing days. This time I chose the No Meals Included plan, but since there are restaurants and cafes on the lower floors of the Hotel, it was nice to be able to choose meals according to my preferences. From both the Room and the large public bath, you can see Mojiko, and the occasional sound of a ship’s whistle adds a wonderful atmosphere. I felt that BEB5 Mojiko was designed to make full use of what makes this area special. One point for improvement: because I stayed on a No Meals Included plan and there is no convenience store nearby, I couldn’t have coffee in the morning. If possible, even for a fee, I would appreciate having an option to buy morning coffee.

    The Room’s location ...

The Room’s location and the open, airy space on the 10th floor were pleasant. However, the space felt a bit small for the number of guests. The bath on the top floor itself was open and very comfortable, but the changing room floor was soaking wet, which was unpleasant. Our guest room was on the 8th floor, but since the floors above were used for reception and other facilities, it was noisy until late at night with sounds like chairs being moved.

I wanted to have coffee in the morning.

Although there was a kettle in the Room, there was no coffee provided. When I asked at the front desk in the morning, I was told that coffee could be purchased at the café next to reception only after 12:00. They said, “There is a café inside AMAZING SPOT,” but it wasn’t available outside business hours, so I ended up unable to get coffee in the morning. In the end, I searched on my own and went to Starbucks at the station (which was actually nice). You don’t need to provide free nuts—please make it possible to enjoy complimentary drip coffee in the Room. The night view and the infinity-style large public bath were wonderful, but this one issue with coffee was disappointing.

Please make sure you understand the concept before booking your stay.

Arrived at 20:30 with children. First, we couldn’t figure out which entrance was the correct one. By chance, other guests (Asian) were also lost. When we stepped outside, there was another entrance next door with small letters saying “Guests Only.” If so, why not put a sign at the obvious-looking entrance saying “Guests: Please use the entrance next door”? After finally getting into the elevator, we still didn’t know which floor Reception was on, got off on the wrong floor, and wandered around. We were exhausted from traveling; it was dark at night; our luggage was heavy; and we were searching while carrying children—yet someone who seemed to be a shop employee only glanced at us. I was doing my best to hold back my frustration. When we returned to the elevator, there was text saying “Reception 9F” (in English). I wish there had been a kind additional note in Japanese as well. Even after arriving on the 9th floor, it wasn’t immediately clear where Reception was. Just like the casual interior design, the staff’s clothing and service were also casual. The Room felt casual too. There’s no desk, so there’s no chair (I overheard an elderly guest saying they had no chair to sit on while watching TV). There is also no phone. There were only two tissues in the tissue box by the sink, and there was a rolled-up piece of lint under the bed—I questioned whether it had been properly cleaned. This time one person used a sofa bed, but making up the linens is self-service. We’re spending money and time to enjoy something out of the ordinary—so why am I doing this? My hands kept stopping as I put on the sheets. Breakfast had limited variety. They seem to promote noodles, but they looked like pasta (my partner was disappointed). When I asked at Reception about something I’d lost, since there was only one staff member present they left their post to check where lost items are stored—and that made me feel very uneasy about security at such a casual Reception setup. It’s new (about one month since opening), and because of its great location you get nice views. However, if you’re imagining standard Hotel-level service, you may find some things confusing or disappointing. I liked KAI before this stay; this experience taught me a lot—I’m going back to KAI instead.
