The Room was clean a...
The Room was clean and the food was delicious, but I was bitten by an unknown insect in the bath. I reported it to the front desk, but they didn’t seem to take it seriously and only asked, “Would you like to apply some medicine?” It was extremely painful and swollen, and even after a week it is still swollen and hurts. Given that situation, being asked “Are you okay?” at checkout the next morning felt too late—I wish they had responded differently from the start. I understand that being bitten by an insect can happen unexpectedly, but what matters is how it is handled. I was very disappointed.

Breathtaking views throughout your stay
Whether in the lobby, guest room, restaurant, or large public bath, we enjoyed breathtaking ocean views throughout our stay. The warm hospitality and many unique services won us over right away—it was our first visit, but we quickly became fans. We’d love to return again soon.

Great views and an especially nice bath. Excellent value Hotel.
We stayed here as a couple on a summer trip. Not only were the views great, but the bath and in-house Facilities were thoughtfully designed, and we had an enjoyable stay. As it has only been a year since the renovation, everything was very clean and well maintained. Considering the price, I think it’s an excellent value Hotel. We chose a late check-out Plan, so it was also nice to enjoy the bath right after cleaning when no one else was there. You can still feel traces here and there of its past as Kanpo no Yado, so it may not suit those seeking luxury or highly attentive service, but it had a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The only disappointment was that dining felt somewhat like an assembly line, so I deducted one star for that. Next time, I’d like to visit during oyster season.

The quality and portion sizes of the meals are perfectly balanced.
While not flashy, the room was clean and the amenities were more than sufficient. Above all, both dinner and breakfast were delicious, with just the right portions. Since it was summer, a pool would have made it perfect, but we still had a great time playing table tennis and darts. We would love to stay again.

The shower is...
The shower in the Room’s Onsen had water pressure that was far too low to be usable. Please inspect it. I assumed I had booked a Room with an ocean view, but it was on the opposite side. The bath is fully visible from the parking lot. There are blinds, but lowering them reduces the sense of openness. Also, during dinner, I was asked if my plate could be cleared even though more than half of it was still left. It was a foreign staff member, and they likely asked because there was limited space on the table. I will let you know when I want dishes cleared, so please pay closer attention.

Exceeded expectations
Having stayed here only back when it was “Kanpo no Yado,” I didn’t expect much in terms of price, but I searched because I wanted to relax while looking out at the sea—and it turned out to be the “Kamenoi Hotel,” which I’ve been hearing about a lot lately. We arrived in about two hours by car. It was raining, and although we pulled up in front of the lobby, no one came out. I checked in at the front desk first. My husband parked the car and was walking over, but there was no one to greet him with an umbrella, so I hurried out with one myself. (I thought, “Well… I guess this is what it’s like.”) First, we went to the large public bath—it was great. Unfortunately, because of the rain we couldn’t see the sunset, but the open-air bath had a wonderful infinity view, and even the sauna felt great with salt available. The water was pleasantly mild and relaxing—I could have stayed in forever. The meals were just right in both portion size and taste. I also appreciated that breakfast wasn’t a buffet. The Room was a Japanese-style layout with beds, and I liked being able to walk barefoot on Ryukyu tatami mats as well. Overall, we were very satisfied. We’ll visit again in another season. It also made me want to try another Kamenoi Hotel too. Thank you very much.

The view is amazing.
Both the Room and the open-air bath offered a panoramic view of the Seto Inland Sea right in front of us, and the stunning scenery was truly soothing. As it is a newly renovated Hotel, everything was clean and comfortable throughout. The meal portions were just right, and the sashimi was fresh with a wide variety of dishes, all delicious. If I had to say one thing, it was a bit disappointing that I couldn’t try Sakoshi oysters. I would have appreciated a little more explanation about the facilities at check-in.

I had a relaxing stay.
The view was wonderful as expected, and the lobby was spacious and relaxing. The meals were made with fresh ingredients, offered a wide variety, and were very satisfying. It was the perfect Hotel for a restful getaway.

Senior Couple’s Trip
It was a pity that the Onsen Room faced the mountain side. The Room amenities were minimal, so I wished there were a bit more. However, we enjoyed the meals and table tennis and made great memories.

I’d like to stay again next time when the weather is clear.
I really felt that the Hotel makes many efforts to ensure guest satisfaction. At check-in, we received a detailed explanation (including the Hotel’s own events), and both dinner and breakfast were delicious. The Hotel was very clean and well maintained, and the restaurant staff were efficient and attentive. The only disappointment was that it rained that day. Next time, I would definitely like to stay again when the weather is clear.

It was a Hotel where you could relax and take it easy.
It was a last-minute Reservation, but we were very satisfied. I brought my elderly mother, and all three of us had a wonderful time. However, my mother has difficulty walking, so we would appreciate it if there were a slightly higher shower chair for guests with disabilities in the bathroom. Also, some guests seemed surprised because they didn’t notice the two steps leading into the open-air bath and almost fell, so having clearer signage would help everyone feel safer. It’s a lovely Hotel that makes us want to stay again.

A Hotel Where You Can Feel the Effort
It was a wonderful Hotel with excellent Onsen, staff, and service. The views from the Room and Onsen were fantastic, and all the on-site services were enjoyable. The meals featured many local ingredients, and breakfast in particular was not buffet-style, allowing for a relaxed dining experience. The warm small hot pot and the bonito dashi soup were delicious. Although we stayed only one night, we had a great time. It was also lovely to see Ako Dantsu textiles displayed throughout the property. The salt sauna left my skin smooth until the next day.

A clean, thoughtfully designed Hotel
Overall, it was a thoughtful Hotel. Unfortunately, the weather was bad, so we couldn’t go sightseeing.

It was very pleasant!
Right after arriving, I was truly impressed by the infinity Onsen I enjoyed in the daylight. Soaking in a bath that felt as if it blended into the calm blue Seto Inland Sea and the blue sky, I found it deeply soothing and helped me forget everyday life. The salt sauna also left my skin wonderfully smooth. The food was also excellent. In addition, the complimentary drinks in the lobby, water dispensers on each floor, and ice were all very convenient. This is an Accommodation I would love to visit again if I have the chance.

The Deluxe Room with...
The Deluxe Room with a semi-open-air bath and the special kaiseki course were excellent. I was a little disappointed that it wasn’t ocean-view, but I chose a spacious Room to enjoy an escape from everyday life and was very satisfied. The semi-open-air bath in the Room with 100% natural hot spring water was also wonderful. It happened to be a rainy day, so I’m really glad I could spend time in such a lovely, spacious Room. The food was delicious as well. I gave it 4 stars because if the Japanese dining staff had been a bit kinder, and if the table had been slightly larger or the seating more relaxed, I think the special kaiseki course and drinks would have been even more enjoyable. Other than that, everything was 5 stars and I’m very satisfied.

Breakfast
Dinner was served one dish after another at a fast pace, and many guests couldn’t take their time because there was hardly any space to set the dishes down—so I guess it can’t be helped. Breakfast was great! In particular, warming bonito dashi in a teapot and pouring it into a bowl with ingredients—this was delicious! It was by far the best food I’ve had at any Hotel I’ve stayed at.

Switching the air conditioning mode?
With an outside temperature of 28°C, it already felt humid from the entrance, and I immediately had a bad feeling. The Room was just as muggy, the air conditioner wasn’t on, and even when I turned it on it only blew air. It was unbearably hot—far beyond simply “uncomfortable.” When I contacted the staff, I was told they were in the middle of switching from heating to cooling. That made no sense at all. I thought it might be usable after a few hours, but they said not until the next day. No matter how much they explained the situation or talked about climate change, we paid the full rate, so this ended up being a truly terrible memory. Even after using the Onsen, I couldn’t stop sweating. It was so hot that I woke up during the night, and when I opened the window insects came in and bit me. I also wrote this in a Review for the Hotel, but received no response. I’ve stayed at many hotels, but this is the first time I’ve had such an unpleasant experience. There were probably good points like the view, food, and Onsen as well, but everything was diminished by half. If you plan to stay here, I recommend confirming in advance that proper air conditioning will be available.

It was comfortable.
This was a wonderful Onsen getaway and a much-needed break from my busy daily life. I appreciated the welcome drink service before check-in, and I was happy that the meals were not buffet-style, which made dining feel relaxed. The petite cakes were also a perfect size and didn’t feel too heavy after dinner, and I was impressed by the creative use of local Ako ingredients at dinner. The late-night ramen (half portion) was a great finish as well. I enjoyed the Onsen in the afternoon, evening, and morning, and truly unwound. Everything was excellent—I even signed up for Kamenoi Hotel membership right away. The staff were kind and friendly. Thank you very much; I’d love to visit again in another season.

A cozy Accommodation where you can truly relax without any worries
I had read other Reviews in advance, so I was aware of it, but it really felt like a place that used to be a former Kanpo no Yado. The infinity bath was especially outstanding and truly deserves high praise. The view from the Room was great, and even compared with nearby restaurants known for their scenery, the Hotel offered the better experience. Both dinner and breakfast were satisfying. Overall, it was a warm, unpretentious Accommodation where you can relax without any pressure—extremely comfortable. Other highlights were being able to enjoy delicious coffee in the lobby at any time, and having table tennis and darts available in the recreation area. If I had to point out improvements: 1) The salt sauna using Ako salt didn’t seem to function well. The men’s salt sauna was used a little, but it wasn’t set up in an easy-to-use environment. My wife said that in the women’s salt sauna, the floor was too hot to enter. 2) The low-temperature bath is set up as a lying-down bath and doesn’t feel like it’s serving its purpose. To address points 1 and 2, I would like to see the low-temperature bath changed into a cold plunge pool, and either a standard sauna added or the salt sauna improved so it can be used properly. Also, this Hotel offered few benefits from booking through IKYU. Overall though, it was a good Hotel that made me want to visit again.

The best stay in years!
I first heard about Kamenoi Hotel Ako from an acquaintance a few years ago, and I had always wanted to visit someday. My wish finally came true, and this was my first stay—I'm extremely satisfied. Although the Hotel was fully booked during Golden Week, the open-air bath that blends into the view of the Seto Inland Sea was amazing; thanks to good timing, there were moments when I had it all to myself and could truly enjoy it. The ocean-view Room was spacious, and I also enjoyed the scenery from the balcony. The meals were not too much—just the right amount. My husband was thrilled with the late-night tantanmen. Early in the morning, we took a walk along the coast to Kirakira-zaka and were able to watch the sunrise. Being able to have such a wonderful experience at this price made it a very special memory for us. Thank you very much to all of your staff as well.

Terrible value for money.
I stayed during Golden Week on the “Deluxe Room (50 sqm) with Semi-Open-Air Onsen Bath” Plan. There were multiple Rooms under the same Plan, but I was shocked when I entered: it was the Room at the inside corner where the building forms an L-shape. From the window, all you can see immediately to the left is a wall—extremely oppressive. The only other view is the parking lot. On top of that, when you open the window, there are several rows of what looked like Onsen pipes stretched right in front of you, making the view even worse, and it was also very noisy due to pigeons. When I made my Reservation, it showed two Rooms remaining. If there are multiple Rooms under the same Plan, then this particular Room should clearly be priced lower. Since rates were high for Golden Week, I was furious thinking, “This price for this Room?” Also: Even though there is a front desk right by the entrance, there was no greeting when the automatic doors opened. Although my Reservation was for three adults, only loungewear for two adults and one child had been prepared. And there’s more… but I will not be returning. I have made many Reservations through IKYU and stayed at many Accommodations. Every place has been wonderful, and I believed booking through IKYU meant peace of mind. This time was disappointing.

Wonderful Hotel
The building, Room, and large public bath have all been fully renovated, so everything was clean and very satisfying. The view from our 4th-floor Room with a semi-open-air bath was spectacular, and relaxing on the balcony with a beer in hand in the cool evening air after bathing was the best. The food was delicious and the portions were just right. The only downside was that the vending machines inside the property do not accept new banknotes or the new 500-yen coins—please consider updating them.

Thank you for your support.
We stayed for two nights. I expected the same meals, but on the second night you served different dishes—possibly an upgraded course. Breakfast was also different each day. Thank you for the Hotel’s thoughtful hospitality. Unfortunately, it was mostly cloudy and rainy and we didn’t have a clear day, but we were able to catch a glimpse of the sunrise. The open-air bath with an ocean view is available from 5:00 a.m., and it would have been perfect if we could have seen the sunrise more clearly while bathing. Although I’m local, it felt refreshing to enjoy scenery I don’t usually see and to try Ako kaiseki cuisine that I don’t normally get to eat. What impressed me most was the service from your international staff—it was wonderful and truly reflected Japanese hospitality. If I may add one request, it would be helpful to have spare bath towels and towels in the room. I know they can be delivered if requested at the front desk, but some guests may hesitate to ask. Thank you very much for your care during our stay.

Satisfied with the great hot water.
Overall, it was a thoroughly satisfying stay and I felt it offered great value for money. All of the staff we interacted with were courteous and pleasant. Every dish was delicious and we finished everything. I also appreciated that breakfast was served at the table rather than buffet-style, so we could eat in a relaxed setting. I was also captivated by the quality of the Ako Onsen water—it has a slight tingling sensation. The infinity-style bath was truly wonderful, with hot water continuously overflowing. Using the heaping mound of salt provided in the sauna to massage my body, combined with the Onsen minerals, left my skin silky smooth. We also really enjoyed the late-night tantanmen—thin noodles with an authentic yet refined black sesame cream flavor. There were two types of pillows on the bed; it’s rare to find one that suits me perfectly, but I slept very well. A couple of minor drawbacks were that the Room entrance door opens inward, making the entryway feel cramped and a bit awkward to move through, and there was only one bath towel per person during bathing, so we had to reuse it. I’d love to stay at another Hotel in your group as well.

Breathtaking panoramic views over the Harima Sea.
The Hotel was very clean, and the ocean-view Room was wonderful. The Onsen also offered a full view of the sea, and the water quality was excellent. The meals were also outstanding. Many of the staff were international, and I appreciated their courteous service. Breakfast was luxurious! I truly enjoyed a wonderful stay. Thank you very much.

It was very good.
Located a little over an hour from home, and knowing it used to be a former Kanpo no Yado, we visited as a weekend drive trip with our family without expecting too much (forgive me). Our main reason was the all-you-can-eat crab plan. However, we were surprised to find it had been transformed into a lovely seaside Resort Hotel exactly like the photos on IKYU. The view from our Room was wonderful, and we immediately enjoyed coffee on the balcony while looking out at the sea. The samue loungewear was also comfortable, and we headed to the bath carrying a cute wicker basket. The large public bath was great—the view from the open-air bath was refreshing, and there were thoughtful features such as Ako salt sauna and cascading water baths. We also enjoyed the Onsen at night even when we couldn’t see the ocean. Table tennis and darts were fun too! Most satisfying of all were breakfast and dinner. We simply added an all-you-can-eat crab option to a standard course, but everything in the course—potato dumplings, grilled sole, grilled shabu-shabu-style dishes—was delicious. Even though I’ve had similar items before, this felt like an upgrade on “delicious.” Of course the crab was great as well, but especially the sashimi—I live in the Seto Inland Sea area too, yet it’s rare to find sashimi this good. There are many Accommodations that cost more than twice as much per night, so under JPY 20,000 per person for this quality is excellent value. If I had to mention drawbacks: it’s not easy to reach by public transportation; checkout is early; there’s no bottled water in the Room; amenities are limited; I’d like alcoholic options in the lounge drink service even if paid; and there are no towels in the large public bath. Still, I felt it offered such great value that these points didn’t matter overall. A week later my son is still saying how amazing Kamenoi’s sashimi was and asking to go again! It became a wonderful family memory. Next time we’d like to stay in a different type of Room.
