    The relaxation was excellent.

The Facility and Room were new and very comfortable. However, it was disappointing that there was no view at all from the large public bath. The meals were delicious, but it was disappointing that there was no standard buffet curry. The female staff member at the relaxation service was very skilled, and I was able to relax. Thank you very much.

My expectations may have been too high.

Thank you for your hospitality the other day. Overall, I was satisfied, but perhaps my expectations were too high, so I don’t think I would return. [What was good] - There was a Shuttle Service bus - Free drinks were available - Check-in and check-out did not involve much waiting - I could use a private Onsen - The guests were mainly Japanese tourists [What was disappointing] - Even though I paid over 20,000 yen per person with breakfast included, my Room was on the first floor. When using the bath, there is a possibility that passersby could see you naked. - I came to see the ocean, but the view did not meet expectations. - The free lounge and late-night soba get extremely crowded. It’s not possible to use them in a relaxed way. - There wasn’t anything at breakfast that I found particularly tasty.

    Honest feedback

I was really looking forward to staying at La Vista Atami, but I felt a bit uneasy because the woman at check-in seemed confused and close to panicking, and I wasn’t fully satisfied with the service from the man at Kaizo. Other than that, I was very satisfied with the room, the Onsen, and the meals.

We enjoyed many things during our two-night stay, but there are also some areas we’d like to see improved.

Having stayed at several Kyoritsu Resort properties in the past, such as Dormy Inn and Nono, I was already familiar with their systems. I also read every Review on each Reservation site in advance, so nothing caught me off guard. As noted in the Reviews, check-in gets crowded and the lounge is small for the size of the Hotel, so I planned accordingly to avoid any inconvenience. However, even though I changed my payment method from pay-on-site to card payment a few days before arrival, I was asked at the front desk, “How would you like to pay?” When I said I had changed it, I was told it had not been updated. Only after showing my IKYU screen and insisting that it clearly indicated card payment did they finally confirm it. I’m not sure where staff are checking this on their side, but it doesn’t seem set up to be confirmed at a glance. When they first said, “Well, you can also pay at check-out…,” it felt like they didn’t trust what I was telling them. I would appreciate it if staff could make a habit of confirming details on their system first. I always book as pay-on-site and then switch to card payment a few days before my stay, and no other Hotel has ever told me that my card payment wasn’t reflected. For dinner and breakfast on the first night we chose the buffet; on the second night we chose Japanese cuisine for both meals. The variety made both experiences enjoyable. Since we scheduled plenty of time at the Hotel, we were able to enjoy almost everything: the lounge, large public bath, private baths (reservable), in-room open-air bath (rotenburo), and late-night ramen. Also, because the shuttle bus is small and runs infrequently, improving this would likely make it easier for elderly guests to visit more comfortably. On our departure day there was severe weather; even when we called for a taxi none came. Staff checked passenger numbers by the upper lift area and then again below; since some guests were left behind they said another run would be made. I believe this issue stems from having buses that are too small with too few departures relative to occupancy. Carrying large luggage up a hill to reach the station in strong wind and rain is extremely difficult. I hope you will consider adding more shuttle services.

Very close to the station and really nice.

Convenient location near the station. The Facility was very clean, and the amenities were great! The front desk was disappointing… I asked about access to tourist spots, but for some reason they directed me to a far bus stop, and since I didn’t know the area, I ended up walking 15 minutes in the heat. On the way back, I got off at the stop right in front of the Hotel and regretted it—surely I could have boarded there too… I also found something like a very convenient ropeway going down later and took it. If something that useful exists, I wish they had told me… The food was just okay… We chose the buffet, but there wasn’t much variety. The rice was lukewarm. There weren’t many kinds of bread. I would have been happy to have hot udon or rice porridge. The in-room bath didn’t have much of an ocean view since we were on the 3rd floor, so it couldn’t be helped… Depending on the building and floor, you may only get a limited ocean view, so I recommend checking before you Reserve!

    I stayed in the East...

I stayed in the East Wing, and since it is a 17-story building, there were times when the elevator took quite a while to arrive. We chose the buffet for meals, and while there was indeed a wide variety—more than we could finish—there were also times when we had to wait in fairly long lines to get food. The Facility is new, and we were satisfied with the view from our Room.

While there may be some minor inconveniences, this Hotel’s manager feels genuinely sincere.

I visited this Hotel with my husband for a relaxing staycation, and since it’s a new property from Kyoritsu Resort, our expectations were quite high. We arrived a little after 3:00 PM. Check-in was fairly smooth. Our Room was on the 8th floor of the East Wing, and the calm ocean view from the window was very soothing. Since I’m not comfortable with crowded public baths, we went to the private baths first. There are four types, and they were available and comfortable. However, once inside, there was no shampoo or conditioner. After washing only my body and moving to the large public bath, I couldn’t find cleansing oil either. I heard others around me saying “Where is it?” as well. After looking around, I found it placed in the changing room next to the hair dryers. If we had been told at check-in that there are no shampoo/conditioner amenities in the private baths and that cleansing oil for the large public bath is located in the changing room, we wouldn’t have been confused. Some guests may prefer to avoid the large public bath and use only a quiet private bath. It was a bit disappointing because if we had known in advance, we could have brought what we needed from our Room. This time we booked a Plan for two: breakfast and dinner buffet, all-you-can-drink alcohol included, and a twin Room with an open-air bath—just over JPY 50,000 for two people. The food exceeded our expectations; despite Reviews mentioning “the sashimi smells” or “the alfonsino is dry,” we didn’t feel that at all. My husband enjoyed it so much he went back for seconds. The fried squid and shrimp tempura were especially tender, and I really liked how refined the broth for the matcha soba was. Breakfast also had plenty of variety, and even the final cup of coffee was delicious. All of the international staff members were also friendly and attentive with warm smiles. Seeing how hard they worked in an unfamiliar environment left a strong impression on me. While there are still some unfinished areas, this Hotel clearly conveyed an honest commitment to improvement. To the manager and all staff members—thank you very much for your hospitality during our stay. We would love to visit again as a couple.

    Stunning Views and a Bath

We were very satisfied to be able to enjoy the blue ocean view from the terrace, as well as the in-Room bath and the scenic open-air mixed-gender bath with a bustier provided. There were four private baths in four different styles, and all of them were wonderful. We would love to try them next time we stay. The staff were kind, and parking was a reasonable 1,000 yen per night. Thank you for a wonderful time.

    The view is spectacular.

The Hotel is new and very clean. The view from the Room was wonderful, and the open-air bath in the Room was also great—it still had a pleasant hinoki scent. In Reviews of the buffet, I had read that dishes were not replenished, so we chose an early time for both breakfast and dinner and there was plenty of food. However, if I go again, I would like to choose a calmer course meal such as Japanese cuisine. Perhaps because it is a new Hotel, the staff service could be improved. Only some staff greeted us with a smile; most did not, and even when we passed by there was no greeting. Also, perhaps because it was Golden Week or because there are many guest rooms, it felt like people were everywhere and it wasn’t very relaxing. I understand the staff may still be getting used to things, but I would have appreciated more smiles and attentiveness. Disappointing for the price.

Even though you came all the way to Atami

Perhaps because our Room was on the 3rd floor, all we could see was the front desk roof and the entrance. We had been expecting an ocean view, so it was very disappointing. (We also didn’t feel like using the in-room bath, as it seemed visible from the entrance.) We then looked forward to enjoying the large public bath and meals instead, but we still couldn’t experience the grandeur of the sea or feel like we were in Atami. The Room felt like a windowless city Business Hotel, which made it somewhat sad. The meals were very delicious, but during breakfast there were moments when I felt that the service might actually be adding to the staff’s workload. (Is the extra service really necessary? Even without it, both quantity and quality are more than sufficient. Am I the only one who feels smoother service would be better?) We chose this Hotel because of appealing services not found elsewhere, such as post-bath ice cream and late-night soba. That is why I wrote this with complete honesty.

    We stayed as a group...

We stayed as a group of three during Golden Week. We arrived before 3:00 PM, but the lobby was packed and there was a long line for check-in, so our first impression was not great. The front desk staff were not very friendly either. The Room was spacious and clean, and it was nice to have a small open-air bath. The bathing basket included towels and plastic bags, which was thoughtful, and the in-house wear and sandals were also a nice touch. Since I didn’t bring pajamas, I slept in the in-house wear, but it felt stiff and uncomfortable. I wish there were separate sleepwear. The lounge is available to all guests, so we didn’t have high expectations. It was small and crowded, and it didn’t feel large enough for the number of guest Rooms. Meals were buffet-style. I had seen Reviews saying that dishes weren’t replenished, but everything was properly refilled and tasted quite good. What bothered me most was that all the plants were artificial flowers/plants, which made the place feel cheap. The artificial plants in the bath area were tipped over or broken in places, and from a hygiene standpoint they seemed like they could collect dust and mold easily. Personally, I feel it would be better not to have artificial plants at all. Overall, it was fairly good.

    Satisfied

The food, the Room, the bath, and the staff’s service were all excellent. Next time, I would like to stay again with my grandchildren.

This is my first trip to Atami.

I previously stayed at a Kyoritsu Group Hotel and had a great experience, so this time I chose La Vista Atami Terrace as well. I was especially happy that the private baths are available 24 hours a day! I also really appreciated the alcoholic drinks in the lounge available from check-in, but it would have been even better if there were snacks to pair with them. One area for improvement may be customer service from some of the female staff. When I called to request a change to the Shuttle Service time, the receptionist on the phone felt somewhat curt. On the other hand, the male staff member in charge of the Shuttle Service was very pleasant.

As it had only recently opened, everything was very clean. The orange juice in the Room refrigerator was so delicious that I ended up ordering it online after I got home (lol). There was also an Onsen bath in the Room, which was great for people who don’t want to bathe with strangers and for elderly guests. However, it wasn’t ideal that it was separated from the shower room. We chose the buffet for meals, and everything was very tasty. Still, it was disappointing that the “ikura” at breakfast was actually trout roe. Overall, it’s a Hotel I’d definitely like to stay at again!
